Lisa: Thanks for starting the thread. I'm sure you will go anytime now. I love the picture. You look great! I bet all your weight is going to come right off, it looks like it's all baby.

Mary: I hope everything went well for you and that you are holding your little one in your arms safe and snug.

I'm doing fine. I'm looking forward to January. I have a long way to go, but I am so looking forward to meeting this little one.

Morning ladies, hope everyone is doing well. Not much happened for me this weekend. I went shopping and bought my first maternity clothes so I will be ready when I no longer fit in my clothes, which I think will be soon.

I had some pain in my upper stomach area last night, and I have also had some back pains. I am sure they are perfectly normal but I still think I will mention them to the Dr. on Thursday.

Oh yeah, Thursday is my first Dr. Appt. Will they do a pap or anything at that time? I had an ultra sound done last week cause of the bleeding, but nothing else, so what does the first appointment entail?

ladybug...for your first visit...they should do a pap. Also take some blood, make sure you're alright. Have you pee in a cup, weigh, blood pressure.
Get a history. Thats about it.

ldybug: At my first real appointment (like you I had bleeding and ultrasounds before my first real appt), she did a complete physical. She listened to heart and lungs, breast exam, she was going to do a pap, but since I had one a few months before she didn't. She went over what I could and couldn't eat, talked about certain prenatal tests (quad screen and Cystic Fibrosis) and usually you'll go for your first bloodwork as well.

Hope this helps,

Stephanie

Hi all!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Nothing new here.

Lisa- great picture! You are absolutely glowing! I know you said that you've gained weight, but it looks like it's all baby. So don't worry. And the baby's room looks great.

ldybug- I am in the same boat as you. I just went crazy with my eating almost from the minute I found out I was pg. I am not far behind you (7w3d) and have already had to buy bigger sizes and pants with stretchy waists. I think I've finally managed to get a handle on my eating. If I had kept eating out of control, I'd be 300 lbs by May. LOL!

Hope everyone else is doing great. Have a great day guys!

Susan

I'm home! Actually, we arrived home yesterday afternoon. I went in for my induction on Sat. as planned, and once they got the pictocin going, and my Dr. broke my water, it only took about 4 hrs. for the whole L&D. I used Nubain for the pain, but at the end, I felt every bit of it. If there's ever a time you may come close to losing it, it's when your LB is on his or her way out. Thankfully, that's the shortest part. I tore a little, and needed a couple stitches, so I'm feeling sore these days. I can't wait for my body to get back to normal (and get some sleep). It's great having my DH home for 2 wks, he's such a help.

Leah Elisabeth arrived safe and sound, weighing in at 9 lbs 10 oz. She was 19 1/2 in. long. Let me tell you, I'm glad now that I did go in early, I can't even imagine how big she would have been if I would have waited until "after" my EDD to have her. I'm currently nursing her, but if I need a break, my DH gives her some formula. I'm trying to keep that to a minium, for obvious reasons. So far I'm doing better than with my 2nd child, when I quit BF'ing before I even left the hospital.

Okay, now I'm ready to start talking about baby stuff, where should the new thready go??

Lisa - It could be any day now! I never did lose my mucous plug, with any of my pregnancies, so that's a good sign.

Stephanie - January will be here before you know it. I still can't believe my whole pregnancy is all over with.

Lee A. - Yet another thing we have in common. What a surprise! LOL.

Ashley & Becky - It won't be long now for you two either!

Bye...

Congratulations Mary, give little Leah Elisabeth a sweet little kiss for me!

Susan when are you due? A good friend of mine is due May 4. I think it is really great to have people to talk to who are going through the same thing as you are. And I still havne't gotten a handle on my eating@!!!!!!
I can't stay away from french fries!! And, for some reason I am having a major adversion to meat. Seems like the only meat I can force down my throat has to be in the form of a sandwich.
I am also haveing an adversion to Pizza if you can believe that!

Let me be the first to say Congratulations Mary and Welcome to this world Leah!! You have a wonderful mother!!

I'm so glad to hear that you are home and healthy and recovering. Take it one day at a time and try to enjoy every minute. Now comes the real fun part! Are your other kids ready to adjust????

Nothing new to report here. We have started to tell our family of our pregnancy. They are very excited and really didn't seem too surprised. I haven't heard any "are you crazy" responses yet and I hope that I don't. I'm still incredibly hungry and have already gained a few pounds. I think weight control is definitely going to be much more of a challenge for me this time.

Edited to add: I'm obviously not first to wish you congratulations, aparantly I got distracted and forgot to hit submit when I originally was typing my message. Pregnancy brain!

CONGRATULATIONS MARY!!

I am so happy to hear that both you and Leah Elisabeth are home healthy and happy! 9lbs 10oz?!?!! WOW! And here you gained so little! You are going to be so skinny before you know it! Please do post a picture or link if you get to. I am so impressed how quickly you delivered!

This thread is such fun! So many new and exciting things going on. I will have to say, I am looking forward to posting an after birth story soon! I am really pretty miserable right now. My pelvic bones pop constantly and the pressure is really bad. My dr's office was supposed to call the hospital today and schedule a c-section. I have not heard from them yet, so who knows when the day will be! I really am thinking I may not make it much longer. I don't know if I will go into labor or not, but I feel like I might. The baby is really poking, prodding and basically hurting me (I think he wants OUT)!!

Anyway, I better go, I want to try to get everything in order just in case..........

Mary, I forgot to tell you, I LOVE your baby's name! It is so pretty-you really can't beat Biblical names!

Hello All!
Not much to report my way other than I am huge and everyone thinks I'm having twins!

I go for my 37 weeks check up tomorrow. I don't know if she will check to see if anything's happening since she's doing a c-section at 38 weeks. I had the Group B strep test done last week and it was not bad at all. Some women on another BB really complained that it hurt, but it was quick as a wink and didn't hurt a bit.

It's really hard for me to believe that I will have my baby a week from this Friday. Physically I am so ready, but otherwise I feel not so ready!

Mary I'm so happy for you. What a beautiful name you've chosen!

Lisa and Ashley, I guess y'all are next! I can't wait to hear all about it.

Smiley and Ldybug, congrats to you! First trimester is sometimes hard, so I would just eat whatever you can stomach if you are having m/s. Food aversions are the weirdest things. It seems like a few of mine have come back during this last trimester. You really can't fight them, you gotta go with them!

Becky... I"ve gotten the twins comments too. For a while now.

At church on sunday an older man asked me if I was having twins. that was fine...but at a store, this little teeny bopper said to me,"I just have to know...how MANY are in there anyway?" grr...she could at least be NICE about asking!

Oh well I don't care. I'm due this week!

Congratulations Mary!!! I am so happy for you! And I agree with all the others, Leah is a lovely name.

Ldybug...I am due May 9th. You don't wanna know how much I've gained already! I think about 5 lbs must be in my bbs though-LOL! That's so weird that you mentioned the french fries. I also seem like I can't get enough of them (Wendy's especially). I don't have any aversions though. I still want to eat everything! I guess I shouldn't complain though, since I haven't had any morning sickness. I really should count my blessings.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Susan I havn't had much m/s either. I get a little queasy when in the car or on the train, but other than that I seem to be doing well compaired to most others. But I really just can't stomach much meat. It is odd. I am not doing to well on veggies either, but that is probably just my fault for not really having any on hand.
I really hope that once I am in the 2nd trimester I will be able to eat more to the maintance plan. I really do not want to gain to much weight.

I think I am retaining water too cause my rings are to tight. Not tight enough that I can't wear them, but if I take them off you can see the indentions.

Well, I only got up to go to the bathroom once last night so I did get a good nights rest. I am sooo glad. So far my back isn't hurting me today so I am going to assume it must be from sleeping in some odd way that is uncomfortable. I woke up on my stomach this morning and I couldn't belive that I went through the whole night that way!

You all may have heard this poem before. I first read it when I was pregnant in 96 with my oldest son. He just turned 6 and it just blows my mind how quickly the time has gone by.

Of course it doesn't take much to make me cry, but I can't even read this through without tearing up!

I hope you like it!

"Babies Don't Keep"
Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth
empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(lullaby, rockabye, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

Thanks everyone for the congratulations and compliments! I would luv to post pics, but I don't have a clue as to how to post pics here. I do have an outdated webpage, that I could add some new pics too, if I find the time and energy to do so. I am running on barely any energy these days. Leah does alot of sleeping during the day, but for some reason she wants to be up most of the night. It's not easy napping during the day, with two rambunctious kids running around. I got on the scale this morning, and was amazed to find out that I had lost 16.5 lbs, since I had Leah (3 days ago). Now I'm at my all time lowest weight, since who knows when. I didn't know pregnancy could be a great way to lose weight, LOL. Now if I can keep it up, and lose 65 more lbs to reach my goal weight.

Lee A. - Rest and recovery is definitely on my to do list! I would like to stay on this board, but I don't know if they'll let us. Somehow it would be nice to keep the pregnancy and postpartum threads together.

I'll be sticking around to read the upcoming birth stories. I wonder who will be next??

Hi Everyone

Hi Mary-I got reminded of all that up through the night stuff.Did I mention all 3 of my girls have chickenpox? My baby is getting up alot at night again. When she was little(can't believe I'm saying that)I had her bassinet beside the bed and I just scooped her in with me when she woke up.That's where nursing is so handy,no getting up.I suppose we could gravitate over to the Challenges board.Lisa and I are on the Canadian thread there and Kim is on the Let's Lose 5.Hope you are feeling better soon.

Becky-I just love that poem and I printed it out.My kids really liked it too and had me repeat it a few times.

I'm sure it will be you Lisa

Hang in there everyone

Lee,
Three girls with chicken pox!?!? AAACKKK! I'm so sorry. Chicken pox made the rounds at our church a few months ago. We were spared. I hope they aren't too uncomfortable and that it passes quickly. Bless your heart, all of that with a newborn too? This too shall pass, this too shall pass...

It's almost 4:00 am and I just can't sleep. Our AC is out and it's hot. Plus, I've been having slight cramping and pelvic pain and my nose is stopped up.

I woke up at 2:00 AM and thought my water was breaking, but I'm pretty sure it was just a tiny bit of urine. It made me jump up and run to the bathroom, it really freaked me out.

This will sound strange I'm sure, but I remember it was kind of nice when I had my second baby. I was in the hospital with a catheter....I remember thinking how nice it was not to have to get up during the night to pee... : )

Sometimes the night can seem so long...my brain gets busy and then I'm really in trouble. So, here I am.

I want to be a part of the continuing of this thread no matter where it leads. I need the fellowship and support!

I'm going to surf a little then go back to bed.
Looking forward to hearing from Lisa and Ashley...could be any day!

Lisa - My DH took off 15 days, but if I strictly nurse, he can't help me much at night. As it is, I'm letting him supplement with the occasional bottle (only at night) so that I can get "some" sleep. I'm trying to keep them to a minimum, b/c I was worried about nipple confusion and low milk supply, but so far all seems to be going well. Leah switches easily between bottle and breast, and I'm leaking all over the place, so all is well. I think that if I tried to nurse exclusively, I would give up due to exhaustion. I sleep best a night, and that is when Leah doesn't. I hope you're next too! Let us know if you've made any progress at your next Drs. appt.

Lee A. - You have my sympathy too, with your 3 girls being sick. I couldn't imagine going through that, hopefully I will never have to. I must be one of the few BF'ers, who find it difficult to nurse laying down. I tried last night, but I just couldn't get comfortable, and I had trouble finding Leah's mouth in the dark. I still have to work at putting the nipple in just right, otherwise I'll be in alot of pain. Leah sleeps in a bassinet right next to me, I wish I could just bring her in bed with me, instead of having to go sit in the livingroom.

Becky - Hang in there hon, your turn is coming up too! Those final weeks sure are hard, I will be glad when my memory becomes fuzzy, and I only remember the good parts about being PG.

Mary-guess we'd better get that thread going
No you aren't the only one.I had to sit up with all my kids the 1st while.Even now I have a little nightlite in my room so we can get aligned just right for nightime feedings.
The girls being sick wasn't too bad until I got sick myself(flu).Oh well...glad things are going good.My DH had to leave town the day after Cody was born.Sure was glad I wasn't a "new" Mom.Hang in there,it gets easier

Hi Becky-it's going ok.Baby is 4.5 months old now.I never had the appreciation of the catheter
