Hi ChristinaK, don't be cranky....that'll just make things worse. It'll be over before ya know it. Hope you can make a decision soon about C-section vs VBAC.

DesperateInFL, I don't know what to say! You take care of yourself and that baby.

Did they prick your finger or draw blood? Your results were immediate, right? The drink was not as bad as I feared. At least it was carbonated! My doctor said I'm not officially in the third tri till next week, so I'm confused. I am due Feb. 9th. On another note, how does the weather look for the Windward Islands through next week? No major hurricanes?
I wonder why some offices draw your blood and give you results days later vs a prick with immidiate results like diabetics do. It just doesn't make sense. I am thankful they pricked and I found out right away. I didn't think the drink was that bad either. A guy at work that has diabetics was telling me that it had the consistency of cough syrup. I didn't think so, but it was definately strong and sweet, but not as bad as I was expecting.

The third trimester starts at the beginning of week 28 doesn't it? At least thats what this Mayo Clinic book says that's in front of me.

LOL, I might be able to forecast all over the world, but I'm terrible with geography. I do well with coordinates. You'll have to give me an idea of where the Windward Islands are.

Ok, you asked for it! I'll give ya the low-carb goody first and then you can slobber over the high-carb goody.

Fluffy Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie

Crust
6oz pecans
scant 1/4 ts salt
2 tbs splenda
1 ts black strap molasses
3 tbs butter
1 1/2 tbs water

Grind pecans into a fine flour in a food processor. Add salt, splenda, molasses, and butter. Pulse until well blended. Add water and pulse again, until mixture is soft and sticky. Turn mixture into 9-inch pie plate and press firmly and evenly all over bottom and up the sides. Bake 10 minutes 350 deg F. Cool on wire rack.

Filling
12oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup splenda
1 1/2 ts pumpkin pie spice
1 cup canned pumpkin
2 eggs

Mix cream cheese, splenda and pumpkin pie spice on medium speed. Stir in pumpkin. Add eggs and mix until blended. Pour into cooled crust. Bake 350 deg F for 40 minutes. Cool. Refrigerate for 3 hours or overnights. Yield - 8 servings.

Chocolate Velvet Dessert

1 1/2 cups chocolate wafer crumbs
2 tbs sugar
1/4 cup butter
2 cups (12oz) semisweet chocolate chips
6 egg yolks
1 3/4 cups heavy whipping cream
1 ts vanilla extract
Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 cups confectioners' sugar
3 tbs baking cocoa
3 to 4 tbs milk

In a small bowl, combine wafer crumbs and sugar; stir in butter. Press onto the bottom and 1 1/2-in up the sides of a greased 9-in springform pan. Bake at 350 deg F for 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.

In a microwave or heavy saucepan, melt chocolate chips; stir until smooth. Cool. In a mixing bowl, combine the egg yolks, whipping cream and vanilla; beat well. Gradually stir a third of the cream mixture into the melted chocolate until blended. Gradually stir in the remaining cream mixture. Pour into the crust.

Place pan on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 deg F for 45-50 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen; cool 1 hour longer. Refrigerate overnight.

For frosting, in a mixing bowl, cream butter. Combine confectioners' sugar and cocoa; add to butter with enough milk to achieve frosting consistency. Pipe into center of dessert. Refrigerate leftovers. Yield - 12 servings.

It must of just been the change in weather, because I used a vaporizer while I was sleeping today and now I feel fine.

I know my uterus is getting bigger and there is a baby below my belly button.....I'm in between 15 weeks and 16 weeks.....should I be feeling "weight" or "pressure" down there? When I stand I feel it. Just feels like gravity is pulling down, and that makes my imagination run a little wild.

It seems like it is nagging me a little. Not painful, but there is a sensation down there, and I don't know if it is normal.
That's normal. Just wait until the little booger pushes on your bladder and you literally have to pee every 30 minutes with only getting a trickle! It's happened to me on more than one occasion.

Just remember that there is more than baby in there.....the placenta and amniotic fluid adds weight down there too. I read in one of my pregnancy books about women getting clutzy in their last trimester because their center of gravity is off from the extra weight out front. I'm clutzy anyway....I just hope I don't fall on my butt this winter when it gets icy like my mom did when she was pregnant with me!

I've found a cure for those wet sneezes! Do about 10 to 15 kegels after you urinate and then you will get those stubborn drops to come out and if you do this everytime you pee you will have racked up a bunch of kegel exercises too. I don't have an "accident" unless I forget to do those.....and I sneeze a lot since I used to take Claritin all the time and gave it up when we started TTC. I also wear a panty liner too, just in case.

Holy Cow! It's already 3 am...I'd better get back to making my goodies. I'm going shopping with my aunt later this morning so I'd better get crackin'! Everyone have a great weekend!

Morning Ladies...and hello to all those who pop in later.

We have my 8 year old son's first piano recital today....he's so nervous, doesn't make me miss those days. I'm sure he's going to do wonderfully though, and keep reminding him of that. Need to get the roast in the crockpot for dinner t'nite as we have a busy day. Between his recital and my hubby wanting to take him "baby shopping" so he can buy a gift for the shower tomorrow. He's going to be such a good big brother!

On the work front, we're simply sitting still until Monday to see what the lawyer says and what my Admin. calls as an offer. I found a ton of info regarding the Pregnancy Act and the responsibilities of employers. They literally cannot force you to take a leave of absence without pay unless they prove they have no job whatsoever you can fulfill until you give birth. Pretty tall order so we'll see what their proposal is on Monday. If it's LOA, I'm prepared to fight it!

Pregnancy wise...I'm finally not so sore from the hospital stay. Lil one has been very rambunctious this morning, which is always a good sign.

Everyone have a great weekend!!

[/b]
I asked my dr. office why they didn't just prick my finger instead of a blood draw. My Nurses rationale was that they don't do a finger stick unless they already feel you are at risk or may already have GD. I thought it was a majorly lame excuse. But I can't complain. She was the BEST blood drawer in the world. I didn't even feel it. I told her she has to do my blood draws from now on. The last girl who did it have to poke three times, got a bad vacuum vial and then moved the needle around in my arm. I thought I was going to scream.

Well, on the home front, we refinanced the the house and are taking a second line of credit out to pay off high interest rate credit cards and are cashing out $5,000 (DH may have to be out of work for a while because he injured his arm and he has no short term disability insurance, but we're not sure yet) We figure we will be saving $500 a month after all said and done. Thank goodness we didn't move!

Working to get the baby's room started. We got the changing table put together, now we have to put the crib together and get things cleared out of the back room. I don't have a catch all room anymore so I am going to have to put more things in storage.

On the pregnancy front, this little bean is a kicker. I actually get sore from all the pummeling I get. Also, my sciatica is REALLY flaring up. I cleaned house last night because the appraiser is coming today and by the end of it I could barely walk. This preganancy is definitely harder than the last one. But on the plus side I an carrying small. I tell people that I am 29 weeks pregnant and they are shocked. They say I don't don't look that pregnant. I tell them its because the belly hasn't caught up with the runaway breast growth!

Anyway, hi to all you ladies and good Luck to Ms Sarah!

Ooh, I have a bladder kicker too! It feels SO MUCH like I really have to go, then, yep, it's just an ounce or so. I think she had been upside down the past few days, kicking my stomach, and let me tell you I don't know what's worse.
The Windward Islands are in the Eastern (French) Carribean: Martinique, St. Georges, St. Lucia. We leave today!

Michelle~ Good luck with work and have fun at your shower!

Shandril~ Congrats on the re-fi! If my sciatic pain gets too bad, I find stretching my hamstrings really helps (but hurts at the time). It's all connected somehow. The lab didn't call yesterday, so I assume my blood glucose was in the normal range. They tested thyroid levels too, so maybe that's why they did a blood draw?

I'll bet Sarah is holding her little one by now...can't wait to hear.

"bye everyone!

Kelley

Hi everybody~

I've been lurking, but not feeling up to posting lately. I have been pretty sick, and taking a long time to get over it. On the bright side I haven't been eating a whole lot, so at my appointment yesterday I didn't get yelled at for gaining too much... However it is still a shock to see in my chart that I'm at risk because of "maternal obesity". Makes me want to cry. I'm heavy, but I'm not the largest pregnant woman he's ever seen. :-( OK, whinging is over.

By now Mrs. Sarah is probably in the process of giving birth... How wonderful (and scarey!)!!

I have my first meeting with my doula on Wednesday night. We've spoken on the phone at length, so hopefully I'll feel as comfortable with her in person...

Amy- A big thank you for always starting the thread and providing us with all those delicious recipes. Would you ship me something to eat? I'm hungry, but by the time I cook something I don't want to eat anymore....

Desperate- I'm so sorry to read of all your issues at work. Hopefully they will keep doing the right thing for you and your baby.

Work front here is going to be interesting.. There might be a strike at the Mouse next week, starting on Friday. They have all the office and salaried staff covering housekeeping and luggage if there is a large scale walk out. Fortunately, the higher powers have realized that having me do either of those jobs MIGHT not be the best thing for me to do.... So I'll probably be covering the phones for the entire resort.

I've been looking at cord blood banks and am pretty decided on Cryo-Cell. They're here in Florida and the Dr's office and Maternal Education lady recommend them.. They're slightly cheaper than the other large companies, but have been in business longer.

Well enough of my book... Hope everyone is doing well and that the sick bug stays away from you all!

Hi ladies,
I've been feeling pretty cruddy the last couple of days. I could sleep all day! I've had quite a bit of m/s as well. I usually start feeling peppy after dinner which stinks because then I'm not tired and I spend half the night tossing and turning! UGH

I have been feeling pretty good lately, but still can sleep all day. I think I have decided to be lazy today. Yep, I got enough things I could be doing, but I think my body deserves the day off.

I'll check back later, maybe after I go take yet another little nap .

GoJackets, how adorable!!!!

I've just bought little stuff here and there...we're going with the classic Pooh design.

It's hard to believe I'm just a little over halfway there....19 more weeks to go.

So far I've had a very good pregnancy...so different this time around. Of course with my daughter being almost 12....it's hard to remember anything!!!

Glad things are looking good for so many & for those that need them.

Thanks....I was nervous about buying something so soon. I'm glad your pregnancy has been great!!! We have another u/s in a little over two weeks.....I'm looking forward to that. I thought my 14 week u/s would be enough for a little security...but, I've felt so good that I don't feel pregnant at all. I say I can't wait to feel pregnant, and then I'm sure I will live to regret that!!

Since we won't know the sex of the baby, we are decorating the room in bees (eventually Yellow Jackets) and daisies. We are using pale blue and yellow. Haven't done any decorating....figure we will wait a couple of more months.

Hope all the other mommies and TTCers are doing well!!!

I'm feeling better after a 3 hour nap . I had a very bad low blood sugar episode after the nap. I think it's because I've been eating more carbs, and they haven't been the good kind. Before my episode, I had ...

1 serving Carb Well Cinnamon cereal
.5 cup CarbCountdown milk
3 slices bacon

1 small Marie Callendar pot pie - I was cleaning the freezer and there it was, so I ate it.

Anyway, after the nap I got up and thought I was going to pass out and throw up all at the same time. I started sweating like crazy and had to strip and lie back down. I haven't had a LBS episode at all since starting this WOE. I'm having a hard time getting my carbs up to 60-100. I've been adding an apple or half of a banana some days or a LC bagel added to my breakfast. Any ideas or suggestions?
TIA

Question for Ames or anyone else who knows how to cook...

We are having our Thanksgiving luncheon at work on Friday, and I am making stuffing. The kitchen at our work has an oven that is VERY small, and it's better, for those who can, to bring their food in a crockpot to reheat. My idea was to bake the stuffing in my crock (it has the removable pot), then reheat it in my crock pot, adding some broth in the morning so it doesn't dry out.

Will this idea work??

Pregnancy wise fine over here. Tired from our Halo 2 party last night, but we all had fun. I officially suck at it, but that's okay! My friends noticed my belly, and I was a bit embarrassed about that.. not sure why.

Groovycaddreamer posted this on the playground about Sarah and Tanner...most of you may have already seen it:

This information was posted on another board, it is from Mason, Sarah's husband.

Sarah wanted me to give everyone an update for her.
She was induced on Friday 11/12 at 5 am. She labored all day but wasn't making any progress. We decided to go for a C-section rather than risk wearing out mother or baby. Sarah made it through the operation without any problems and gave birth to Tanner at about 4:30 pm. He weighed 8lbs z.

Unfortunately on the way out he took a breath and filled his lungs with meconium. They did their very best to clean his lungs but he was still having a great deal of trouble breathing so he was rushed to the NICU with me. They worked on him for a few hours but he did not improve and they were forced to place him on a ventilator to help with his breathing.

Things were scary for awhile, but he seems to be doing much better now. His lung x-rays are starting to clear and his heart rate and blood pressure are improving. We were actually able to hold him for the first time last night. The doctors are hopeful that he will make a full recovery.

Sarah will be coming home on Monday. I'm sure she will tell you all much more when she gets back. I appreciate any support that you could give her. This has all been very hard on us both, and we are not looking forward to coming home without our baby. It will be some time still before he can come off of his ventilator and return home.

Thank You all very much,
Mason

Please continue with your prayers.

Dena, thanks for posting the update from Mason. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

Hello to everyone else!! Hope everyone who has been sick or green around the gills is feeling better.

I started having a little bit of spotting when I go to the bathroom at 3 this am and I'm still passing mucous. Lots of contractions but not regular. They are very erratic. I will have several really close together and then not have any for awhile and then more close together.
