Good morning ladies!

I asked my husband what his favorite casseroles were and he said he had to think about it...so stay tuned. To be honest he probably hasn't had a casserole more than one or two times anyway, because I'm always trying new things, LOL!

Hi Jefinner. Call me crazy, but isn't 1500 a little low? I was eating 1400-1500 when I was losing weight doing strict low carb. I actually did count the other day to see where I am....I'm about 2200-2400 on an average day...but my carbs were a lot higher than I thought....about 200! I hope it was just the carbs last month that put on 6 more pounds and not the calories, because I only eat when hungry and have gone to bed hungry quite a few times. I have to say that I was definately retaining fluid at the last appointment, so I probably only did gain a few pounds. If it is more than a few pounds this next month I'm going to definately try to lower the carbs more by getting rid of the potatoes and milk and eat more yogurt and hope I don't get leg cramps from not getting enough potassium from the potatoes (the few days I haven't eaten them I've gotten leg cramps...so that's the only thing I can figure. ). Anyway 1500 sounds a little low to me for growing a baby, but if you aren't hungry then it is probably ok.

I plan on working until the day I deliver! Seriously, I think I would be bored to tears and get anxious waiting at home reading into every little thing going on with my body. I think it would drive me up the wall! That, and I also want to use all my time off to take care of the baby. I'm taking 12 weeks. The first 6 I have to use accrued sick time and the second 6 I will use accrued vacation time. Fortunately, it is very easy to accure a lot of vaction time fast, because we can choose to take the pay for holiday or an extra vacation day instead.

Anyway, I've come up with the worst case senario going for my delivery. We will have the largest snow storm of the season approaching Minneapolis and I will be scheduled to work the surface desk and have to do the forecasting and telcons for delays and cancellations, etc (a very stressful shift indeed!)....and then I will start having contractions and/or my water breaks near the end of my shift or duing a telcon with the shift directors (the important decision makers in the company)......and then my husband will have to drive through the snow storm to come get me and take me to the hospital. Yep, that would have to be the worst thing that could happen. So anything else will be better, LOL!

Ames ~ Thanks for the recipes, what I do when I freeze something that has like biscuits on top is I buy the frozen rolls and don’t thaw them out and just place them on top before I seal the container, it comes out really good since they are already frozen. Maybe we should start or own PG recipe thread.

Michelle ~ Glad to hear that you have found positive in your situation!!

Martha ~ Sorry to hear about the shopping, that really sucks!! Good thing for the internet!!

Dena ~ Hope mine stops like clockwork to!! (knock on wood) it has been a bit better these last few days but I wish these freakin' headaches would take a hike!! Oh an yeah it was an internal u/s

Darlene ~ I forget about the micro climates we have in the Bay Area. We had beautiful weather Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Although it did get pretty chilly at night, but it makes for good hot-tubbin weather.

Amy (Smiley) ~ I love gifts that more thought than $$ is put into it. Oh and Tim was the one I was talking about *wink*

Meg ~ glad your appt went well!!

Kelley ~ John Edwards the guy who contacts the dead, or I think it is more like they contact him...lol. It was neat to see him do his thing in person. What is Las Madres ?? LOL, we live about 45 min from SJ.

Jenfinner ~ Had to go peep on you link, we seem to have the same taste in food, next time you make your lime chicken throw a bit of tequila in it... Yummy!! Your posting about your chili made me get out my personal cookbook, but that’s as far as I got!!

Sarah ~ You make such a beautiful pregnant mommy!!! Good luck at your appt.

Amy ~ will have to look into the playmat at amazon, it sounds neat. Hoping that David does not want Halo, since we have PS2 and he would use it as an excuse to get an Xbox!!

ChristinaK ~ How did you decorate the baby's room?? Keeping my fingers crossed for you and your VBAC

Heather ~ I LOVE hot and sour soup!! But on the same note it is SO hard to find some that I don’t have to doctor up when I get home with vinegar & hot chili oil!!

Shelly ~ Love your avatar, who took it?? I only ask because I am a freelance photographer.

Hello Jen, Liz, Angela, Wendy, Viki, Nicole, Alli, GetNSlim, JenP

Things seem to be getting a little better on the m/s front, And thanks to an espresso I all but wiped out my daily migraine. I stopped counting my calories, after my first big spew day I gave up on fitday. To much adding and taking away...lol. How is everyone planning/decorating baby's room? We are leaning towards an Hawaiian~Tropical~Beach theme, just don’t know what I will do with all my Tigger stuff since that is what the neighbor kids call "The Tigger Room" Well I don’t know about everyone else but the holidays are pretty hard for me and with Thanksgiving looming ahead I am not sure how this year will go. With David being a police officer he has always worked some wacky schedule, usually leaving me home alone unless I want to drive 5 hours to go be with my family in with case I feel bad knowing that he is going without our mini holiday meals. I hope that once littleone gets here it will be different and David will have enough seniority to get better days off!! Hope everyone has a great day, we have a storm getting ready to come through.... awww man!!

xoxo Chelsea

Chells....glad you've gotten rid of the migraines. I can't even tolerate a headache so I can't imagine anymore than that daily.

Doing well here. Found it hard to sleep and I'm extremely sore today. Guess I didn't realize how out of shape some of my "folding" muscles were!! Should have listened to the girls every time they told me to slow down LOL...and guess I will be in slow mode today!!

Have a great day everyone!!!!

GoJackets~My employer determines how much paid time off I get by my years of service. So since I have been here 6 years, I get 12 weeks of "possible" paid time off. They treat maternity leave as disability so if I have a vaginal birth then I get 6 weeks out of work after the baby is born and 8 if it is a c-section. If the doc signs me out of work prior to the birth I will get paid for that as long as the time after and time before add to less than 12 weeks. So my doc agreed to sign me out of work at 38 weeks (which will be this Friday). If I deliver around my due date, then I will be paid for the 2 weeks prior and 6 (or 8) weeks after. I could realistically be 2 weeks past my due date and have a c-section and still get full pay. Soooo.....I set my last day based on when my doc would sign me out, making sure I would not suffer financially for doing so. Hey, I don't lose money by being out early and the corporate medical nurse says most women take 2 - 4 prior off, so I figured I would too if I was getting paid for it.

And, let me tell you, I am glad that I am. It is getting so painful for me to sit at this desk that I am glad today and Friday are the last two days I have to be here.

Hope that wasn't too confusing, it took me a little while to understand how and what I would get paid for.

Morning, ladies,

Dena, I hope to work as close up to my delivery as possible, but we'll see how I'm feeling. My dr. keeps talking about induction, but I think he says that just to keep me calm about it. I have a friend who is a month ahead of me and has the same dr., so we'll see what she does.. if he pushes her into an induction. I think I'd rather go into labor naturally, but it would also be nice to have something scheduled. Don't mean to open a can of worms here, but that's just how I feel.

Anyways, I get 4 weeks full pay "short term disability", then have the option of getting 4 weeks half pay after that OR using my accrued sick days (12 at the beginning of the year) or accrued vacation (14 unless I take any in between). So, in total, that's 9 weeks I'll have at my disposal. I'd rather only take 6 weeks, if my dr. clears me, then have the rest of that time available to me for the rest of the year. I'm sure baby will be sick and need someone to stay home somewhere in there, or it would be nice to actually take a vacation. Perhaps take baby home for Christmas.

Chels, we've already painted the nursery. We have a yellow chair rail (Pooh Bear Yellow) and the upper half is painted blue (Thoughtful Spot) and the bottom half is painted green (Christopher Robin's Swing). Those are just the names in case you want to check them out at Home Depot. The room will NOT have a Pooh theme. Tigger, perhaps, but not Pooh. I actually wanted a Lilo & Stitch theme, but I think perhaps the sex of the baby will determine it. We're not sure yet. We saw the cutest bedding set at B-R-U that had little puppies.. Unfortunately, anything that has puppies is boy oriented. So, if it's a girl, I don't know what we'd do.

Doing okay here. Still stressed regarding money, but trying other options. They've been pushing us at work to donate food for the troops.. it's hard when I can't even afford my own food, and people don't understand that. Anyways, a little nauseous this morning, but most days I feel good. Still suffering from headaches, but that's about it.

A girl at work yesterday asked me when I was going to get fat! I laughed and told her that, even though my tummy isn't sticking out too far (I can actually hide it quite well... no one noticed at the conference last week), I've gained plenty of weight in other areas like my hips. They are back to their old self... from size 12 all the way to size 16. *sigh* Oh, well...

Morning all...Baby kicked me awake at 5:00 Am again this morning. Guess she's a morning person, unlike her mommy. She usually moves around after I eat, so I don't know what gets her up at the crack of dawn. I have my GD test tomorrow, so I will try to eat low glycemic things today to get started. It will be hard, because I'm going to lunch at a place with stellar desserts, and my sweet tooth is raging lately! I work from home (or wherever I am) since I freelance design, so if I don't work, I don't earn money, but it *should* be pretty easy to transition once baby is here. Some clients are getting a little apprehensive the more I show, but I think I'd be bored if I stopped altogether.

Chels~ Las Madres is a playgroup organized by neighborhood, and I thought it was the whole Bay Area but I guess just the South Bay. Check this out: http://www.lasmadres.org/ I have heard really good things about it from friends down there. I may join depending on my travel schedule with baby. I had bad headaches/borderline migraines with M/S too, they seemed to go hand in hand. Caffeine helped me too, but I could not even stand the smell of coffee, so I had to have Diet Coke or something. I think a Hawaiian theme is a great idea! I'm doing a cowgirl theme, and that is hard to keep girly too. I am using a lot of red instead of blue (and of course no pink).

Desp~Nothing like a new repetive motion to make you sore in spots you didn't even know you had muscles! Take it easy. I'm glad the ladies there are nice.

Dar~Did your DH get Halo2 then? I didn't know our troops needed food! What kind of donations are they asking for? The Boy Scouts come by every now and again to collect food and I just give them leftover cans or boxes from our high carb days. Feel kinda guilty, but...

Jen~Two more days of work! Wow! You are so close.

Ames~ Someone posted on another board about freezer meals/casseroles and linked this site:
http://busycooks.about.com/od/makeah...ecasserole.htm
It has some yummy ideas, all too high carb for me and my DH though.

Sarah~Good luck at your appointment today!

Kelley

HOLA LADIES!

AMES – See, I thought since I was trying to consume around 1200 calories beforehand, that I would up that by 300… I’ll do some research, and talk with my midwife. Although, I know she won’t give advice, caloriewise… She’ll just tell me to eat healthily, and get my proteins, veggies and water in… LOL!

I like your worst case scenario. Although that’s scary! And I bet you’ll have a much better scenario to work with!

CHELSEA – How unfortunate DH has such a crazy schedule, but like you said, hopefully he’ll have enough seniority to get those days off when the little one is here… Also very glad to hear you got your migraine under control!

MICHELLE – Still so sorry you got stuck with laundry duty… That sucks! At least the ladies like you…

JEN – I understand… I remember when my midwife was filling out my forms, she asked me when I wanted to come back… I said at 8weeks, but I should’ve said 12! DOH!

DAR – I hear you on the money issues! It sounds like you have a pretty good Short Term Disability policy… (BTW, I always hated it when my HR lady would abbreviate it… LOL!)

MADAME – Poor thing!!! Got a mornin’ baby for a not so mornin’ mommy! I hope your GD test goes well!

I actually didn’t have any cheats yesterday… I stuck to my menu yesterday. YAY! Now, I just need to get back on track with the exercise!

Thanks for all of the info on maternity leave!!!

Got my first baby gift from a really sweet coworker this morning. Makes me kind of nervous. I loved the gift (Georgia Tech piggy bank and a Georgia Tech bib). My friend said that the lady that helped her at the store asked if it was a boy or a girl and my friend said "Not sure, but it is a Yellow Jacket". Great answer!!!

I'm just nervous if I lose this one that these people buying gifts will be disappointed. Just feels weird.

Okay, I am going to try to do quick personals today because I am feeling guilty...and my manager is out today! Hee, hee...

Here goes:

Ames ~ That is funny about your worst case scenario! I sure hope nothing like that happens when your due date comes around. Your casseroles sound SO yummy...I am not really a cook though. I would probably screw it all up.

Chelsea ~ I am so, so jealous of you! I LOVE Tim McGraw. What does he feel like...is he as nice as he seems. Oh, I need the details. I am so JEALOUS!! Anyway, I am glad you figured out a way to get rid of the migranes...those suck, I get them and they are no fun! I think the tropical theme is cute!

Michelle ~ Sorry you are so sore. Take it easy...I hope it goes away.

Jenn ~ I feel after reading you post! Could you repeat that in english for me. Kidding...as long as you understand how many days you get off then that is great!! Good luck at your appointment today!!

Darlene ~ I feel the same way about (someday) giving birth. It would be kind of nice to know when you will be having the baby, but on the other side natural is usually better. The baby's room sounds so cute. I like those colors. I am sorry you are stressed about money...aren't we all. I am always stressing. Especially since the holidays are coming.

Kelley ~ Good luck trying to keep away from those desserts! You are a strong woman if you can. I know I couldn't!! You are lucky you work from home. That would be perfect...

Well, I used the Instead Cups last night after BDing. Surprisingly easy to use. Although when I first inserted it, I wasn't sure if it was in. Then I had to pee and I was so afraid if I pee'd or moved it would come shooting out of me! DH though it was hilarious. I was moving so slow...he kept making that popping noise when you take your finger and put it on the inside of you cheek and then pull it out...you know that noise, right? Well, he thought it was funny, but I wasn't laughing - mostly because I was afraid if I laughed to hard it would pop out. Well it stayed in until this morning. Phew!

So, my mother is on her way down from Canada with my grandmother who flew up there three days ago just to get the flu shot that she wasn't able to get here in the US. She proably didn't need it for herself but my grandfather has cancer and she was terrified of bringing the flu home and giving it to him. Stinks that she had to pay $180 to fly one way to Prince Edward Island, Canada only to pay $10 for the actual shot. Now she has to drive home 12 hours with my mom. Oh well...what are you going to do?

Sunday is my cousins baby shower...I am kinda jealous. Is that bad?

Well, looking forward to hearing from Sarah!

Hi to anyone who pops in later!

Of course he did! LOL.. he's probably playing it right now, becuase of the holiday tomorrow his teacher's decided to cut classes short today. The bum. He's trying not to play too much until our party Saturday, though. Yeah, right...

The food is for something called Operation Shoebox. Last year we gathered comfort items.. snack foods, magazines, games, etc. And we sent them to particular soldiers and their units.. family members and the like.

This year is food for them to have for Thanksgiving. I'm not sure if it's just a local thing or what, though. Anyways, we're sending stuff like boxed stuffing, mashed potatoes, canned food. And get this.. their favorites are Oreos and Mac N Cheese! LOL...

Good Morning ladies!... I have no ideas yet when it comes to do anything with the baby's room! maybe after they tell me if its a boy or a girl I'd hate to paint the walls pink and get that strawberry shortcake doll I've been eyeing only to be told "It's a boy"....lol maybe I do have just a few ideas...

Dar~~ We are not that far apart with are due dates! my headaches have lessened this last week but I still get them, normally I get them the worst when I've waited to long to eat and while I've only gained two pounds my hips look like I have gained 20!! Hope you feel better.

Chels~~ Seems like you have the magic cure for headaches!.. I'll have to add an espresso to my daily list of things to eat/drink, it is ever growing these days..lol I've never heard of anyone doing a baby room in a tropical theme!! It would be very unique I love the idea!!... My husband took the picture of me that I have in the avtar I won't tell him you like or I'll have to suffer through more..

Alli~~ I have not seen you check in this morning!! hope all is well and that you are not anywhere near those wheat thins

Is anyone one else around 20wks and not showing yet?! I swear I'm growing the wrong way! I'm getting wider and wider! I would think that I'm carrying twins on each hip
I havent counted calories since lowcarbing and I lie to fitday so it lies back and I can never keep track but since becoming pregnant I have increased my carbs to stay out of ketosis...I've read somewhere that you only need to increase your calories by300 so much for the eating for two theory..lmao

Smileyamy~~ hope to see you being bad later on today, work is just no fun if you cant sneak in here 3x daily, perhaps you should have your boss put that in your job description!

Hope everyone is doing great this morning!

edited to say... I see you are already being bad amy!! while the boss is away amy will play!

OMG I overlooked that my butt it also getting large but then I'll just chalk that up to the whole rump roast I consumed the other day .....and I wonder why I'm getting wider

I havent counted calories since lowcarbing and I lie to fitday so it lies back and I can never keep track but since becoming pregnant I have increased my carbs to stay out of ketosis...I've read somewhere that you only need to increase your calories by300 so much for the eating for two theory..lmao
Funny you mention the wider hips. There's an old wives' tale that if you carry out front you are carrying a boy and if you carry wide you are carrying a girl. I don't think I've gained an ounce in my butt or hips....at least that's what my sweetie says. My upper thighs have gotten bigger (but that's my trouble area anyway ), otherwise I've just grown in my boobs and my tummy! So, the old wives tale has worked for me! Now my mom, who had two daughters carried wide both times....pretty interesting....

Good morning ladies!!

Well, my appointment is this afternoon! I am really looking forward to it. I woke up 2 hours before my alarm went off this morning. I felt like I was having an anxiety attack. I think I'm just excited about the possibility of the baby coming SOON! Plus, today is my last day at work, so I'm worked up about that too. I feel like a ball of nerves (but in a good way.)

Nothing really new to report. Everyone tells me that I look bigger everyday. I think they are right. It's amazing how much my belly has grown in the last 2 weeks. I went and got a haircut yesterday, so that is officially the last thing I wanted to do before the baby got here.

I've got stuff to catch up on and finish up, so I'll pop in throughout the day.

all around!

AMES - I hated the old wive's tales about how you carry the baby... After my U/S with Allison, a lady ARGUED with me that I was going to have a boy, because I was carrying low and wide. I told her that's the same thing they told my mom, and last time I checked, I wasn't a boy. Jeez. Some people.

Speaking of the nerve of some people. Get ready for this first time mommies. You will have strangers ready to give you advice, who touch on your baby without your permission, etc... Just KILLS me! The last incident... I was in Wal-Mart, and I was letting Anna play with her bottle (I'd put the top on, because she wasn't sucking on it), and while I was checking out, a lady comes over, and pops the bottle into her mouth saying, "Oh, that baby looks hungry!" WTH!?!?! I KNOW MY BABY!!! And, of course, she sucked on it for two seconds, then went to playing with it again. Dumbass.

SHELLY - I was like you during my first pregnancy. It felt like it took forever to show. With the last two, it's happened quicker. My midwife told me it was because my abdominal muscles had already been stretched out from the first one.

OMGosh! I HATED when people would tell me that. As a matter of fact, a friend of my mom's did that to me, and I got all smartalecky and told her, "Hmm... So do you!" Okay... That wasn't nice, but I was hormonal!

Sarah~~ Make sure you let us know how your appointment turns out! I never thought about having my hair done a little before the baby comes..thats a great idea as I'm sure no new mommies have the time to mess with it.. Congrats on your last day how exciting!!

Ames~~I hope you are right! I have two boys and I've never carried like this but this is the first time I havent been over 230 while pregnant .. It seems I'm getting wider in my hips and on the lft and right side of my belly like where your arms lay at your sides..I took a picture a few days ago I'll post it! I sent them to my mom and told her to "wide screen mode"..

Oh, I better not tell my hubby about that one! He wants a boy so badly, but I know he'll take either. I know there's not much truth to it.. and I've always had trouble with my hips and thighs. They were the first thing to put the weight back on. It's frustrating having just gotten them thinner pre-baby, but I know I can take the weight back off again! That's what I keep telling myself!
