Anyone else Pregnant?
HI!!!!!!!!
This is my third pregnancy, but IF I go to term it will be my very first baby. (I've had two miscarriages) I am 9 weeks along, due date May 15. (The fartherst I've ever made it, YAYYY!!!!) Anyone else having serious aversions to protein? My tummy just can't tolerate it, the idea of it makes me seriously nauseous. I can only seem to handle salty crackers, breads and a serious craving for pancakes, which is THE WORSt. I do wonder if I should to some extent listen to my body, I have been avoiding sugar for a long, long time (Which, btw, I've never felt better in my life since doing so and also I regularly exercise simply to get rid of all this extra energy) but I've read that the body needs lots of glucose to help support and nourish the baby. Unfortunately, I can feel the weight packing on already and I really don't want to get huge with this baby. Any advice or tips??? What does your daily menu look like? I"m thinking of doing more oatmeal wtih fruit in the morning. Orange juice has been a lifesaver first thing in the morning for me because it really helps those nasty cravings! My doctor also said due to my morning sickness to try and just eat salty carbs, that helps the most. I am NOT advocating a high carb diet at all, in fact I iwsh more than anything I could continue this WOE while pregnant but it really has become a challenge for me ![]() However, in the end I am sure it will be worth it!!!!!! CONGRATS to those who are preggers!!! |

Just know the way you are feeling is normal and will subside.
But the midwife in me has to tell you...EAT YOUR PROTEIN!!! You need 80-100 grams a day. I have the same quote I tell every client. The way you eat now directly correlates to problems that can happen in the 3rd trimester. The best site on the net for eating while pregnant is blueribbonbaby.org. It has every thing you need to know for eating while pregnant. |

Hi Ravenly....
I agree with Mommiematters that you do need protein...but you can get it in other ways; I was addicted to peanut butter during my second pregnancy. Make sure you get a natural style one so that there isn't extra sugar. Sometimes you just need to eat the carby stuff to get by with the morning sickness. Bread/crackers etc. are heavy and keep your tummy full and coated so that you feel less nausea. I say, when pregnant or sick, all bets are off. Eat what you have to to have a healthy baby. However, you don't need a lot of glucose for the baby. Don't diet, but try to eat a good healthy mix of lots of veggies, protein as you can tolerate it, and even some whole grains and berries. Pregnancy is not the time to worry about weight loss, but you can eat healthy and avoid unnecessary weight gain. Don't forget your folic acid!!! (Good supply in leafy greens, fortified cereals, and prenatal vitamins). Also, they have a lower sugar orange juice that tastes great...they also have a lower acid one which is easier on the tummy. If you find that the morning sickness is unbearable, try taking Vitamin B6 supplements (25 mg a day) which really helps some people. If that doesn't work for you, talk to your dr. about taking a 1/2 a Unisom tablet along with the B6 at night....really, really helps the sickness and also is completely safe during pregnancy (as long as your dr. approves) Good luck, and congrats! |
