Good morning ladies!

michigangrad!

Woohoo! It's my Friday! I only get one night off though. Oh well...I get 4 days off at the end of the month and I plan to get the house cleaning all caught up by then...at least that's the plan.

My MIL called this morning and said she found a jackpot of treasures at a few garage sales. She got a pack-N-play and playpen that she says looks like new and a ton of clothes. She also bought a bike for Grant when he is older....like 3 or 4, LOL! She's a riot. I'm glad she is doing all this and having fun. I don't care to do any shopping to tell ya the truth. I'm sure this kid will be spoiled rotten as it will be her first grandchild. I get spoiled the way it is, because I'm her only daughter-in-law.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Ames

Suzanne! Love the pics of Brianna! Max is sure a cutie too, WTG girl!

Well, I have decided to weigh once a week from here on. I HAVE GAINED FOUR POUNDS IN A WEEK! I am panicking. I don't feel like I am eating THAT much more, although I have made some bad choices lately. I just can't keep gaining at that rate. I have my monthly check-up next Tuesday. Can't wait to hear what they say.

I'm so bummed, I'll have to come back when I feel better.

Madame- Don't worry about the weight gain!!! It will come off afterwards!! Just worry about chosing the right foods with the most nutrients for your baby!! You'll be alright, I'm sure everything is fine!!

Ames- My MIL was like that too. She LOVES to garage sell and is always picking stuff up for both my kids!! If this baby really is a boy, I think my daughter is gonna end up being spoiled though...as she will be the only girl with 4 other boys (my two nephews and my two boys!)

Not much going on here today. I'm getting ready to make homemade cinnamon rolls for tonight to go with chili! I'm also making Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies...so I can gaurantee that I probably won't have a good weekend eating wise! Like I said though, I'm just working on portion control now! I'm worrying about the weight later on! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Morning Ladies!!

MadameX....don't beat yourself up. I gained 20 lbs. in my first month only to find out I lost 10 of it the following 2 months. At my current weight, she still isn't very concerned nor does she lecture me as a gain is almost impossible to avoid. (as I sit here eating donuts LOL).

Hubby and I had to get up early today. Had to take the lil pup to the vet for her last 4 annual vaccines and to recheck her ear which is GREAT!! I hate sticking things in her long ears...I feel like sucha bad mom.

I do have a pregnancy related question....has anyone experienced their hands going numb when really doing nothing? I was holding the box of donuts on the way home this morning and both my hands starting going numb. It's also happened when I'm watching TV or reading.

Have a great day everyone!! We're swapping furniture in our 2 bedrooms today...ugghhh and I have to do the closets. Tomorrow it's football for my hubby and his buddy while in the pool....and my friend (the buddy's wife) and I are heading to babies r us to go get my bumper. Then I get to play with her lil almost 1 year old daughter who is absolutely adorable!! Can't wait, haven't seen 'em in months!!

Hi Ladies. Thought I would check in.

Desperate: Numbness and tingling in the hands is fairly common in pregnancy, known as pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome. The only cure usually is giving birth.

Oh, also. I know you were relaying the problems you had trying to breastfeed your first little one and weren't planning on it with the second. You may want to try. They say a woman's breast milk comes in WAY stronger the second time around. May be worth giving it the old college try. You may be pleasantly suprised. I had found the article in Yahoo news. I'll post it if I can find it again.

Dar: Don't stress over the weight gain. It will come back off. I have gained AT LEAST 30 lbs in 24 weeks. I did stress over it for a while. Then I realized, Hey! I lost it once through Atkins, I can sure as heck do it again! And I will!!!

Suzanne: A big congrats on the little girl. She look precious. Killer labor, but I am glad to see that it went for the most part like you had wanted. Thank goodness for modern medicine tho.!

Metro: Congrats on the garage sale finds! My Hubby's grandma, rest her soul, was the garage sale queen. We got so many things for our first DD thanks to her garage sale skills. We're really going to miss her this time around

On a personal note: House still hasn't sold. And I think its weird, but I am feeling happier and happier about it. I never realized our emotional connection to this home was so strong. Not to say we won't try to sell again in the future, but I am can perfectly happy here a bit longer.

Got the fall garden planted except for the seeds I need to sow. I am hoping for tomatoes and bell peppers by November. And my herbs are growing gangbusters.

We got a new bedroom set for my four year old. A lady at my mom's work is moving and her oldest daughter has grown out of her bedroom set. So I got a canopy bed, a desk, a dresser, and a hutch all for $100. Our great deal for the week.

On the pregnancy front, I feel wonderful! Lots of energy and feeling very up. My only gripe is the heartburn is getting worse. I expected it, but man does it suck! Plus I feel like the munchkin is doing tumbling runs in my tummy. Boy does she make my tummy dance!

Well enough about me. Everyone, have a great day!!!

Shandril....thanks for the info. on breastfeeding. However, I've researched the issue I had in my first pregnancy for this time around and come to the conclusion breastfeeding just isn't for me. I always felt very self-conscious while doing it, it never felt natural. Even couldn't do it in a family member's house. Always felt tied down to a 2 hour schedule to return home to be able to nurse. After 4 days and my son losing 3 pounds, we went to formula. Looking back at his pictures from those 4 days, I literally cannot stomach them. I always see a child I almost killed in starvation who looked incredibly skeletal, pale and sick. It shocks and horrors me that I didn't see it then and I will not do anything to jeopardize this child the way I did my son. I live with that guilt daily and have found peace in my decision that breastfeeding is just not for me.

Trust me, many have tried to persuade me and I applaud the mother's who can. But I also feel those of us who come to terms with choosing not to are sometimes ridiculed. Until they look at the pictures of my son and the tears in my eyes when I see them....they cannot understand.

Sorry, this is just a very emotional subject for me.

Sorry sweetie, you should never feel that your decision is wrong. Your health and that of the babies always comes first.

I did find the article. I will post it any way for those who may be in the same boat as you.

Breastfeeding Easier the Second Time Around

By Michael Smith, MD
WebMD Medical News Archive Reviewed By Gary Vogin, MD

Sept. 21, 2001 -- Breastfeeding is supposed to be such a natural part of becoming a mother. But for many women this can actually be a time of great agony and frustration. Now, a new study shows that the old saying, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again" may be right on target when it comes to breastfeeding.

Many new mothers give up breastfeeding within the first six weeks usually because they feel they are not producing enough milk for their baby, say researchers in the Sept. 22 issue of the medical journal The Lancet. And of course these women are unlikely to try again the second go around.

But researchers are finding that women who don't produce enough milk with their first baby actually stand a great chance of giving their second baby all the breast milk they could ever want.

The researchers followed 22 mothers and measured the amount of milk they produced during their first week and fourth week after delivery for both their first and second babies.

The women produced significantly more milk with their second babies than with their first. And surprisingly, the women who had the most trouble with milk production the first time had the greatest jump in milk production with their second baby.

Another plus, breastfeeding took less time for the second baby. On average mothers saved about an hour per day, something that most new moms would certainly welcome.

The message here is clear, the researchers say -- even if you felt that you had insufficient milk to feed your first baby, it is worth trying to breastfeed your second baby.

We are doing the exact same thing this weekend. We got about 1/4 of it done last night. We are eating a late breakfast and are about to get started on the rest. We have to move a big heavy filing cabinet and cannot do it without a dolly. Wouldn't ya know, our dolly has a flat tire. So DH is going to have to run down to the gas station and get it inflated. It is just like your lawnmower being out of gas when you finally get ready to mow. It is always something that causes delays.

We also bought some paint for the nursery last night. I can't wait to get it painted and the furniture arranged. I will feel so relieved.

It is a beautiful day in FL today. I am wearing a sleeveless top and shorts. Hopefully that will keep me motivated today to really get some stuff done.

Hope everybody has a great weekend!

It is beautiful here today!!!

We got one room completely emptied...everything is piled in the living room. Made the mistake of getting down on the floor to pick up all the crap under my sons bed and well...ummm...had trouble getting back up LOL. All hubby could do was stand there and shake his head. But, I got up and now it's all vacuumed and the carpets are steamcleaned. Just waiting for them to dry before hanging a new curtain rod/curtains then we begin shoving our stuff in there!! After that, it's cleaning our old room before shoving sons stuff in there. I think the closets may wait until tomorrow.

Thankfully hubby's doing all the moving of furniture but the bending down to empty the steam cleaner and pick up crap is getting old fast LOL

Good luck Jen....hope you get yours done quickly too!

Congratulations Nicole!!!!!!! Can´t wait to see pictures!!!! Sorry about the cesarean but sometimes that´s the best way.

Has anyone heard from little bear?

Today is our first wedding anniversary! DH and I did things a bit backwards. I didn´t see any reason to get married since we owned two Mexican corporations together, and the paper work on those is more binding than most marriages. But last year we were driving back from visiting my family in CA and decided to stop in Las Vegas to get married. Max was our usher. Anyway, I got a gorgeous gold bracelet and DH is getting a recliner for his ¨baby sitting¨chair.

Brie is doing great. She sleeps most of the night except for one brief feeding, and I usually have to wake her up for that. Sleeps most of the day, too! Her feet are slowly straightening out; the pediatrician at the hospital, our pediatrician, my midwife, and all the hospital staff said they had seen feet like that before and it is not because she was late, just from her position. And they all promised that they will straighten out by themselves. It is still scary for any parents to see something ¨wrong¨with their baby. I just figure it is because she has DHs huge feet.

I still don´t feel like I belong on the Losin´the Baby Fat board. Hope you ladies don´t mind me lingering a bit!

Saludos,

Suz

Well, I hope I can sleep well tonight. Not only have I swapped furniture of 2 rooms, steam cleaned the carpets in those rooms...but I just finished 13 loads of laundry from everything to panties to curtains to both beds in their entirety. Whew.....if that doesn't zonk me, I don't know what will!! (And yes, hubby prays this "nesting" ends cause he's beat!)

Bethany!! Glad to hear mom & baby are doing well.

Michelle - I'm tired just reading all of that. I understand completely how you feel about the breastfeeding issue. I tried with DS but he just wouldn't latch on. I had lactation consultants and nurses trying to help me. They even brought in a double pump to try to stimulate my milk flow to see if DS would latch on then. Nothing worked. DS and I were both miserable. I was crying, he was crying and he had lost almost a pound in just a couple of days. Finally DH said Enough and said I think we should give him a bottle because this just isn't working. I agreed and we requested a bottle. The nursery nurses came and were horrible. They started wanting to know if we had tried various and sundry things and hadn't brought the bottle. DH told them we've tried everything we're going to and we want a bottle now!! As soon as I gave the bottle to DS I knew we had made the right decision. He just looked at me like Oh Thank You Mommy. I have absolutely no desire to put another baby and myself through that and will be bottle feeding this baby. I have had the same feelings as you about being ridiculed. Some people can be very militant about breast feeding.

Not much going on here. My dad is visiting and we had a busy day. I was on my feet a lot and have puffy ankles. We had a good day though. The guys are all going golfing tomorrow and I am sleeping in.

Congrats Nicole and Hubby!! Glad everything is good!

Michelle and Christina~ I tried for two weeks to breastfeed and supplement with formula but ultimately it never worked. I feel less "frazzled" with her on bottles.

to all the non breastfeeders.. hey don´t sweat it!
I feel it all boils down to what is best for you and the kiddo.

It is a VERY personal choice.

I do breastfeed Laura, and she is happy with it, and cannot/will not take a bottle. Poor lil girl spits formula everywhere, with the look on her face like ....why am I getting this punishment!
Sam, he would rather have bottle but does take breast. I feel mostly just to snuggle a bit. Sometimes he is interested in actively feeding but usually just pulls off and on. Talk about painful.

hehehe I still lurk and post here also

Good Morning Everyone!

Congratulations Nicole & DH! Welcome BeThAnY!!!

Can't wait to hear your experience, Nicole! I wish you a speedy recovery.

Suzanne~Happy Anniversary! I can't believe Brie is sleeping through the night already. lucky you! I agree that you should linger here as long as you want. I for one, would be lost without your wisdom.

I hope we hear from Amy soon!

Christina and Michelle~It sounds like you gals really tried all you could with breast feeding. I plan to try, but am pretty apprehensive that my b-cups can actually produce enough milk to sustain anyone! I will believe it when I see it. My mom would be mad if I didn't breastfeed. Sounds like there are many things beyond our control, even when the intention is there. I will probably contact La Leche League in a month or two for their tips and advice. Were either of you able to pump and bottle feed that way?

GetN~Wow I bet it smelled good around your house with all that baking going on! I could make a meal of just cinnamon rolls, forget the chili, LOL.

Hi everyone else!

Well, I really watched what I ate yesterday (aside from a cookie), and felt better. I went on a really long hike with my dog and halfway through I really had to "go". I almost didn't make it back to the restroom at the trailhead. I had been constipated but hiking got things moving, I guess...here's the TMI part, sorry...When I got home I weighed and had lost a pound and a half!

Kelley~

My doc had me pump when we switched him to formula to see if we could do both. That's when we discovered I literally wasn't producing enough. I'd pump both sides forever and barely get an ounce. I'm all for everyone trying....I think professionals should inform us of signs that the baby isn't getting enough though if you aren't pumping. That's the only thing that confirmed for me. Otherwise, we thought he was just hungry all the time even though getting milk...when actually he was truly starving.

OK I'm off to babiesrus....my entire body aches from all the physical work yesterday so hopefully moving around will loosen up the stiffness. It literally feels like my abs are working overtime keeping this baby in place.
