Good morning ladies!

Congratulations ThininMex!

I forgot to tell you girls yesterday that my sweetie felt the baby kick for the first time. He was thrilled! Now I'm not going to be able to keep his hands off my belly!

I had to take my cat to the vet yesterday...and boy was he mad at me. In June he got into something that made him sneeze like crazy for about 2 weeks. It wasn't a cold because the other cat never got it and the vet didn't find anything wrong. Anyway, ever since then his eye has been oozing a clear liquid like he damaged his tear duct or something from all the sneezing. I haven't been to concerned about it because the liquid was clear and he never seemed bothered by it. Well, in the past few days the clear ooze has changed to a dark mucous and when I've wiped it off it had a red tinge to it. So I decided I'd better get it checked out for an infection. Boy was he mad at me...he bellowed the whole way there and during our wait at the vet.
The vet put a green dye in his eye and did some sort of scan to make sure the duct wasn't clogged and thankfully it wasn't...so she gave me some antibiotics to put in his eye 4 times a day. I'm thinking "Great, how are we gonna manage that...giving cats medicine with two people is hard enough...to get it in 4 times a day with only one person two of those times is going to be impossible!" Well, I had quite a suprise. This stuff is like an ointment, but as soon as it touches the eye it liquifies...he's not bothered by it at all! Before I left for work his eye was already looking better just from today's doses of the antibiotics. Hopefully the infection will go away now and my kitty won't have eye problems anymore.

Well, about the peanut butter adding the weight gain...that's possible, but last month when I had gained only 2 pounds I was eating peanut butter on apples everyday...and interestingly this past month with the 9 pound gain I haven't eaten hardly any peanut butter at all. I'm thinking that I may indeed have a wheat allergy since eating anything with wheat gives me a bloated tummy. Oh well, good thing bread wasn't my weakness pre-atkins.

Everyone have a nice Friday!

Hello Everyone!!

Sarah ~ Check yesterdays post I had a question that I needed you to answer about Mason's company.

Michelle ~ Did you get the link that I posted for the Key Lime Pie?? I SO want to order one!!

Found out after David woke up this afternoon that the situation was more serious than he let on, He has a really bad cut about 2 inches long from his had across his knuckle at to the webbing on his finger. And another one on the underside of his finger. I asked him what he hurt it on and he said he wasn’t sure in the scuffle if he hit it on his tooth or knife. Apparently the skuzz ball pulled a knife on him. Luckily these kind of thing don’t happen to often, just every couple months. Well I had my first spewing episode. I too all I had to get my butt to the grocery store and between the Seafood counter and the meat section I had to ditch my cart and make a run for the restroom. I will better prepare next time and make sure I eat a banana before and bring my ginger altoids. I I actually used the pressure point thing in the car on the way home and it seemed to work. The worst part was when I got home having to take the food OFF of fitday!! Hope that everyone is having a great friday, tonight I am volunteering at my neighborhoods Elementary Schools Carnoween. It will be my fourth year, all the parents think I am crazy...LOL

Ames that is so neat that he felt him kick !! What was his reaction?? David always has some silly remarks about baby stuff. Hope kitties eye gets better, i grew up on a farm so we did allot of vet type stuff ourselves (i still give all my pets their shots) we always tried Boric Acid to clean goopy eyes and then we had an all purpose antibiotic ointment that the vet told us to us (got it at the feed store) if that didn't fix it, off to the vet they went. But 49 out of 50 times it worked!! Also as far as pills or meds this may sound silly but wrapping them up in a towel is what we always did.

It was funny...I felt quite a kick and didn't say anything...but his eyes got real big and he said "oh!" and got a big grin on his face. It was sweet.

As for the goopy eyes....these cats have never had them before and it was just the one eye that was oozing....and it was a lot. I had cats growing up that had the goopy eyes and this was different. I'm just glad he is taking the antibiotics in stride. The towel trick works to hold them in place....but they sure can spit that stuff out anyways. Poor kitties, I don't blame 'em.

chells_hoff....I'm so sorry, I thought Dar posted that link. TY very much!! I know exactly where that shop is so may be hitting it Sunday when we go into Tampa. Yuuummmmmmm...I'm a sucker for Key Lime Pie!! Sorry to hear about your hubby's hand I would freak out everytime he'd walk out the door if that was my hubby. Most mine does is get a papercut at work (and of course you'd think he'd lost a finger to hear him about it LOL).

metroames....hope your kitty feels better soon! My son's cat, who now lives with him, had this recurring chunk of fur that would be missing under his lower lip. It was the funniest thing because he's an all white long haired cat. Suddenly one morning you'd wake to this cat with a huge pink chin looking at ya.

Well I'm up EARLYYYYY this morning. Leaned out of the bed to see the clock said 5am and felt my hips aching so figured why fight it? Just hope it doesn't make me too tired to watch the Pres. debate t'nite.

Speaking of pets....my lovely basset won't stop licking my belly button!! Hubby and I sleep "au natural" (aren't ya glad to know??) and sometimes I just get too hot and throw the sheet off me. Well, woke at 3am this morning to the dang dog licking my belly button! yuccckkk!!! Guess it's a new chew toy to her now that it's popped out

This made me laugh!!! I love it!!!

Ames - as my cat got a little older, we have had to deal with allergies. Every year about this time, he has little sneezing fits. He will sneeze and sneeze until he gets so mad that he hisses. They would treat him with a steroid shot and he would be fine until the next year. Speaking of cats, we found out that my boy's eye will have to be removed. I'm not worried about how he will look, I just hate the thought of him going under anesthesia again. He's had multiple surgeries, and every time they put him under, he has a harder time recovering. Oh well. He will be fine!

How exciting about DH feeling the baby. I can't wait!!!!! I'm not feeling very pregnant today. Scares the crap out of me. Whatever. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be.

Chelsea - How scary about DH. Was this one of his worse events in his career, or have there been uglier ones?

Edited to add: mmmmmmmm, apples and peanut butter.........

Hi, girls,

Yes, Chels, thanks again for that link!!! When I've gained 10 pounds in the next week.. I won't be thanking you. Kidding!

Sorry to hear about everyone's kitties! What a bummer, Dena. Didn't they do a biopsy or something and found the tissue was benign?

My kitty is driving me crazy.. she's 12 and has gone back to her old ways of peeing everywhere. Her chosen room is the room that's going to be the nursery. So, I broke down and bought some of those plug-ins that are supposed to calm them. I'd rather try that than put her on drugs again. I hope they work.

We registered last night.. several hours and we aren't done! It was exhausting.

Where Where WHERE? can I get maternity pants that aren't "stretch".. have plenty of room in the hips but aren't so big in the waist they'll fall down? I have on my new Old Navy jeans, and I'm already regretting getting them. My hips stick out so far (they've really gotten bigger.. ) but if I got a bigger size, they would fall down since they're so loose in the waist. I mean, too loose.. As in even as my tummy gets bigger, they'd still fall down. They are "low rise". Any suggestions?!?! Someone mentioned drawstring pants are great.. where can I get them???

Hi Ladies...

Ames ~ My female cat, Chelsea, has something with her eye that comes and goes where she gets a discharge and her eye gets really irritated but I give her some eye drops from the vet and it usually clears up pretty quickly.

Hi to everyone else - very busy today, but I will be checking it to see if Suzanne posts her birth story.

Hi Smiley Amy! Hope you are doing well!!

So, I just fell asleep at my desk. That was interesting.

Darlene got me thinking.........

How do you know when it is time to shop for maternity clothes and how do you know what to buy?

I'm not showing, but miserably bloated and none of my jeans are fitting.

Do I suck it up and buy bigger jeans, or do I go ahead and get into some maternity pants? I have plenty of tops and skirts that fit, but my pants are getting too tight.

If I buy maternity pants, how do I know what to get? Do you get your normal size?

BTW Darlene, I saw some drawstring pants on ebay.

Um, yeah, didn't need to know that, Michelle! LOL...

BTW, do you know what kind of bowl your son's cat uses? Plastic or metal? I have a long haired cat, and used to use plastic bowls. Plastic will hold oils from the cat's food alot easier than than the metal does, and he would, seriously, get pimples and irritation on his chin. Just wondering if perhaps his kitty has the same problem.

I think this is my problem.. I have bought maternity pants when my stomach is not sticking out enough yet. However, they DO say that you can supposedly wear the low rise ones all 9 months! They also say you should buy the same size you normally wear (as in 12-14 would wear a L)... Huh... I seem to be busting out of the L's at my hips and I was a 12!!! What's up with that?! I had some old 14's at home that I've been wearing, too. I think I'm going to return all the pants I bought at Target.. they are all 'stretch' capris and I'm just not comfortable with them. From what I recall, the chinos from Old Navy were loose in the hip.. I hope they still are!

On maternity clothes...

I had lost 20lbs on Atkins before I got pg. I had gone down from a size 14 to 10.

Until my belly popped, I was able to slowly work my way back up into my 14's. But as the belly got larger, I used the rubber band trick for a couple of weeks on the 14's. A larger size wouldn't have done me much good, because the 14's were very baggy in the legs and only getting tight in the belly.

It was at this point that I bought the under the belly maternity pants. They have the 3" elastic band and some of them even had a drawstring I could tighten until I got a little bigger.

But now, at 33 weeks I am wearing mostly over the belly panel pants. I would just suggest buying a pair or two at a time, and get them loose now, so you have some room to grow.

I actually bought some over the belly pants from Motherhood that I have never worn. They still have the tags on them. But the time my belly got large enough to hold them up, the legs were too tight. I have put on weight evenly over my body, vs just in the belly as others do.

I am down to about 4 pair of pants I like to wear (and still fit). They were donated to me by my cousin. I am just they will get me through the next 5 weeks of work.

I question this logic. I think it works for those who only grow in the belly. I think everyone is different. My SIL is huge in the belly and skinny in the legs. And I am just round all over. I am 4 weeks ahead of her and every where we go, everyone comments how she looks ready to deliver. She points to me and tells them I am ahead of her. They probably think we are pulling their leg, because I just don't look that pg.

RE: MATERNITY CLOTHES – Actually, I loved the Old Navy low rise jeans. To me, it was a huge improvement over the jeans with the big panel. That’s all they had when I was pregnant with Allison, so I usually stuck with dresses or the occasional shirt and stretch pants (look – nine years ago, this was okay… ) During the first part of my pregnancy though, I stick with a few key items… Dresses that will stretch (they’re good for after baby too, although they might not last for your entire pregnancy.) Then, if you have any longer shirts (I usually had a few fitted shirts that were long enough to cover my torso), I’d hook a rubber band through the button hole of my pants, and put the loops around the button. I always felt uncomfortable in “real” maternity clothes so early.

Key Lime Pie? I’ve never had it, but it sounds really good right now. LOL!

MICHELLE – That’s hilarious about your dog… LOL! (And psst… We go au naturel sometimes too… LOL!)

DENA – Falling asleep at your desk? Yep… You’re still preggers! If only we were allowed to sleep during the whole first trimester! BLISS!

CHELSEA – That’s so scary about your DH. Of course, I’m a worry wart anyway.

AMES – Glad to hear the medicine isn’t too bothersome to the kitty. Cats may be small, but they’re scrappy little things… LOL!

I can’t wait to hear Suzanne and LittleBear’s birth stories!!!!

I have been a pig. I need to stop. Yesterday I did fairly well until CiCi’s… It was their school’s fundraiser night there. The proceeds went to help the middle school aged kids go to DC. So, you know I’m all for raising money by stuffing my face with crappy pizza. I didn’t do toooooo badly. I did make sure to have two helpings of salad, so I didn’t stuff myself with the pizza.

Hi, sweetie

I understand what you are trying to do here. However, if they are shutting down operations in two weeks, do you think a l/e agency will want to deal with a supplier that is going under? Most l/e agencies will not do business with a company that won’t be around to fulfill future orders or repair equipment purchased from them?

Am I reading this wrong, or is this the final-final end to the company?, or, are they just downsizing and laying off a few employees? Please clarify.

Thanks,

Love and kisses,

Mags

Sorry I missed this yesterday chels!

To answer this question, I don't know. If they are able to get the left handed model of the holster designed and ready to be sold, then it's possible that the company could make a turn around. Or, if they have some investors that kick in some money, they may make a turn around. At this point it is really hard to say.

I do understand what he is saying. At this point, the company has laid off everyone because there is no funding left. That could change, it could not. Right now, everyone is volunteering their time to try and get this off the ground.

So, thank you for getting the word out and I suppose we'll just let people do with it what they want.

Okay... onto personals...

I feel like I've been hit by a truck this morning. Last night I got pretty emotional again over everything that's going on, so I had a good cry and felt better. Unfortunately my tears were unleashed in Mason's presence and I know how sad it makes him feel. I tried to reassure him that most of my tears were due to hormones (which is true). I am not normally like that. We talked through everything again to make sure that we were going to be fine. I felt a lot better in the end.

So, we went to bed. I took a sleeping pill. I slept pretty well, but when I woke up this morning I felt like every bone in my body was aching. I still feel like that a bit in my lower back and hips. I'm hoping it relaxes a bit.

Ames: How exciting that your DH felt the baby!! Once that starts happening it's funny how your belly is no longer YOUR belly, it's the baby's house.

Michelle: OMG! I would FREAK if my dog was licking my belly button. For some reason it's one spot on my body that I'm very self conscious of, pregnant or not. *shudder* LOL!

Dena: Hang in there. I know how ready you are to be able to relax a bit. You'll be there soon!!

Dar: Did you have fun registering?? I loved it!! On the maternity pant thing, I don't really have much advice. I have some black stretchy pants that I wear almost everyday now. They aren't maternity but they stretch a LONG way. They are like a slinky stretch material. Not sure if you've seen them before. I also have a pair of full panel pants from Motherhood. I like them but they are just now starting to fit in the belly.

Smiley, karatejen and Jenn: HI!!

Good morning ladies...still not getting the sleep here like I need it. Oh well...maybe I am just my body used to how it will be!! Besides that same 'ole same 'ole. Might go to a movie tonight with my best friend, if I can find someone to watch the kids! Is it really FRIDAY already?!? Does anyone else feel like during the day time is going so slow...but then all of the sudden you get to a certain day and you are like, "Whoa, where did the week go?!?"

Ames-So neat about hubby feeling baby for the first time!! Glad kitties eye is looking better already!!

Chels-You are SOOO nice to just volunteer!! Won't it be fun when you can take your own little kiddie?!?!? That sounds scary with your hubby!!! I can't imagine having a Police Officer for a hubby!!

DIF-Too funny about your puppy!! I'm kinda glad we don't have any pets...I don't know how nice I would have been!!

Go Jackets-I would just buy a couple pairs for bigger jeans...that is if it is still gonna be the season to wear them after the baby!! The only reason I say this is because then you can continue to wear them as you are coming back down from losing your baby weight!!

Dar-I also wanted to let you know that our Super Walmart and Kmart here carry maternity clothes!! I didn't think the stuff would be that cute...but it is!! Also, JCPenney has alot of cute stuff!! Like Jen said, everyone gains different in pregnancies...so I would just try stuff on and then go with that size in other stuff (like if you order from the net)!

KarateJen-Wow...only 5 weeks left!!! Hopefully the time will go by fast!! You have the nursery and everything done?!?

Jefinner-I'm with you on the stretch pants...! I do have some I wear around the house, but you couldn't catch me dead in them out of the house!! I always feel so much better if I feel like I look nice, and there is some REALLY cute clothes out now!! You can always resell them later on!!

Hello to all who come in after me!! Nicole, everything goes well today!

I'm not showing, but miserably bloated and none of my jeans are fitting.

Do I suck it up and buy bigger jeans, or do I go ahead and get into some maternity pants? I have plenty of tops and skirts that fit, but my pants are getting too tight.
I got some stretchy jersey maternity pants at Target ($9.95~how could I resist?). There is still a lot of room, and I think they will last me the whole pregnancy. One thing I noticed~ I am showing a bit but those pants really accentuate the belly! It must be because they are cut for it. I caught a glimpse of myself in them last night at dinner and couldn't believe how big my belly looked all of a sudden. Not so with the drawstring (non-maternity)pants, see below:

Dar~I had the drawstring pants, and they are still my favorites! They are Ralph Lauren cargo pants. I think they came from Bloomie's. You could also check someplace like TJ Maxx or Marshall's since they have such a wide selection of styles.

Hi everyone else!

Kelley

I wanted to add from recent personal experience...

Pregnant ladies DO NOT see "The Butterfly Effect" with Ashton Kutcher. Take my word for it.

We did have fun, it was just tiring and hubby can be so anal. It helps when picking out stuff like that, but was really getting on my nerves. It took us 45 mins to pick out bottles!

It's so weird to go to the website and be able to pull up MY name!

I just can't do stretchy pants. Probably because I'm still wearing non-maternity tops, which are shorter than maternity.. so my hips stick out badly. I've always had a hip problem, and they seem to have suddenly grown from a size 12 to size 16 overnight.. but the rest of me is still proportionate. Very frustrating. I'm thinking I might check out the women's section.. they tend to have more room in the hips than misses' sizes.

Thanks, Kelley, I never thought to try TJMaxx or Marshall's. I'll have to go back to Penney's.. I haven't been there in about a month or so and they were transitioning to fall clothes at the time.
