Good morning ladies! Just doing laundry and cleaning up a bit here on my one night off this week.

I've been terrible about doing them and lately I've been having small "accidents" when a sneeze sneeks up on me. On another board I visit it was suggested that every time you urinate to do at least 10-20 kegels afterwards. By the time the day is up you've done probably a couple hundred....and as an added benefit.....by the time you've done your 10 or so kegels the few drops left that can cause the "accident" have come out. So far this has worked for me this week! I remember to do the kegels AND no more little "accidents"!

Oh boy, did my day end up crappy Saturday at the mall. No nylon undies at Motherhood maternity or any other store for that matter. I'll definately check out the ones at Target...otherwise I'm just gonna start buying my favorite brand in larger sizes.

As for the rest of the crappy shopping experience....my husband didn't find a coat, the largest bra size at the maternity store was 38E (same as 38DD and I'm wearing 44DD now!), and discovered that hardley anybody carries maternity clothes or a very small selection for skinny girls! I guess that they want "normal" pregnant women to go naked or wear large sweatshirts and drawstring pants! I'm going to have to order a bra online now.....boy I feel huge.

I did find one pair of jeans at Sears that should fit me for quite a while, but I've discovered that since I'm average size in height but short waisted that the pants that are the right length will probably not fit me full term as they're just a little loose now! I'll probably be down to the 2 pairs in a few months I bought last month that were XL that I hemmed myself!

My sweetie and I went last night to see that movie too! I thought it was pretty good, but I sure was jumpy at different parts.

Ames....sorry to hear you didn't have any luck with Maternity clothes. I can't buy any, period, due to my starting weight. Thankfully the shirts/shorts I bought when I first got pregnant an extra size larger have worked so far. Who knows what I'll do if it gets too chilly in Dec.

nyanchan....I'm with you on the wedding rings. I hate the thought of taking mine off. Luckily my band was made a size too large already (long story) but due to it being inscribed, I kept it that way since my engagement ring keeps it in place. So hopefully it'll fit perfectly in a few more months.

Marthad....Ever since being pregnant with my son 9 years ago, I do my kegels all the time and don't even realize it. Sometimes I wonder why seeing I'm having a CSection LOL. But they're healthy to do either way.

Suzanna and littlebear....sure hope nature makes up her mind and gets your bodies going this week!!

Nicole....so sorry about your experience. I can relate from my first birthing story to yours, and I understand the pain they so needlessly caused. I'm glad you stood up for yourself in wanting to come home where you're comfortable to those nurses. Sometimes I think some of those maternity nurses need a transfer!! Keeping you in thoughts also.

Mrs Sarah....those massages sound awesome!! My FIL and SIL both are massage therapists, but unfortunately in a different state. Wish hubby would have inherited some strong hands...but no luck.

SmileyAmy...pumpkin picking sounds fun!! Unfortunately, you can't get 'em too early down here or they just rot. In fact we don't even carve ours until the day of Halloween for that reason. It's just wrong...so, so wrong. LOL Stick with those traditions....they're important!

ChristinaK....sorry to hear about your mom. I know she'll be looking over your lil one when they arrive.

Laprettygirl...hi :-)

babyblue...so glad your experience was so positive this time!! can't wait to see the pics

Dar....sorry the weekend didn't go as planned with the pup. She'll learn tho. She has to gain experience then she'll be an old pro!

lizzyd....great info on the reflexology! Being a music therapist, I once knew a reflexologist that showed us some pressure points once. Hit the "bladder" one and man did I feel the pressure to pee!! I would definitely consider going if there's one in the area and I was overdue!

Doing well here...had a funfilled weekend with my son. Amazes me still how grown up he can be. We were out to lunch Sat. before the movie...I asked him how his lunch was. He said "good, but not as good as you cook Mom". What a little suckup already!! He's definitely going to be a ladies man, I see it already *sigh*

Baby is good...keeps kicking me like crazy this weekend. Hubby FINALLY felt her last night and now says he understands why I try to lie down as it must hurt from time to time (she quiets down when I lie down). We also have been talking more about his issue of me as a mom vs. his wife. He just can't get over touching me knowing a baby is inside. It's hard for me as I feel so unattractive and miss the intimacy we shared so I'm trying to be patient while he works through it.

Have a great week everyone.

First time mommies, and mommies remembering their first time - once reality set in, did the concept of actually having a baby freak you out?

I can sit here and romance the idea, but haven't actually experienced it, and now I'm freaked out. I've always seen myself being a mother......but OMG, it's right around the corner. Do you ever think - what did I get myself into? Is this what I really want?

I mean, of course it's what we want, I guess it just takes different stages to discover it......I'm just worried about bringing a sweet little life into this world and then warping its little mind.

In a matter of months......my life will never be the same.

New mommies, what goes through your mind?

Pro-mommies, do the crazy thoughts go away when the baby gets here?

GoJackets....yes it's perfectly normal to "freak out". While you want it so badly...it sets in that it's something you have yet to do in your life and will you be able to handle it. It eventually fades, but never quite leaves the back of your mind. Just remember, children have been born/raised throughout eternity so yes, you can do it. As for after they're born....depends on the person I'd say. I for one freaked out more after my son was born but only because I'd never been around a baby before that. But you still fall in love with them hopelessly.

My only "freak out" about this baby is that it's a girl. I sometimes wonder if I can handle a girl as well as I did my boy....but only time will tell.

In the end, I think our awareness of our concerns makes us better parents

Quick question, then I'll come back for personals...

I'm going to a conference and the reply form asked about "special dietary needs". I put yes, and wrote "No sugar, pasta, rice, or shellfish". Am I missing something important??? Let me know!!! Most likely the food will be pretty bland stuff, it tends to be at conferences, but I want to make sure I'm covered! My brain's foggy this am!

Godd morning all

Nicole- I read your story with awe and terror and sympathy!!!!!!!! You poor thing. The state of my cervix is 1 cm dialated about 50% effaced for the last month. I am going in at 10 am to get checked to see if i have made more progress, if not i check in for the induction at 7 pm........ I am terrified!!!!!!!!!!!!! In my heart I think oh i could wait a couple more days, but i am already 2 weeks overdue and am worried about him staying in there..... DH also says it is time to force things a bit, and the doctor's seem to agree, even though the baby looks okay and i have been okay..................................... I just hope and pray that everything goes smoothly, and that my cervix is ripe enough and gets the job done............ I hope you are feeling okay today Nicole, and that your little one comes out soon happy and healthy..........

Suzanne - Hugs....... I hope you are feeling okay............ I hope you get rewarded for all your patience very very soon............

Okay, well had a great 27th bday yesterday with hubby.... it really was a wonderful day...... I hoped when i fell asleep that i would wake up and be in labor, but noooooooooo......... I am scared of today's events, but i feel it is time, and i trust my doc's, they don't rush into anything...............

The Forgotten - excellent movie, very scary, but not blood and guts scary........... Only bad thing about that movie was when we saw it last weekend, hubby's wallet was stolen!!!!!!!!!!! I told him it was the most expensive movie we will ever see.......

Mrs. Sarah, Smiley Amy - Hello

Everyone else - Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will post an update when i get back from the doc's office.

Well, my tummy popped out right away from bloating and gastric distress when I was eating all carbs at about 6-7 weeks.

Seriously, I think just in the last 3-4 weeks I've starting to show to other people. I had someone at church that didn't know I was pregnant a few weeks ago ask me if I was...so I took it from that I don't just look fat and bloated anymore.

Good Morning Ladies.

I had a food-filled weekend. I tried to keep it legal, but still overate. I have a check-up tomorrow, so I hope the scale doesn't betray me. I have just put on all of my weight in the last 7 weeks, so better back it off.(yeah, right) Got THE BEST peaches and pears and tomatoes from the farmer's market...I guess that's what I'll be eating today.

For our TTC ladies, I read in Newsweek that a new magazine especially for TTCers called "Conceive" will debut. I think it's a great idea, and am bummed I didn't think of it first! What an industry! There is also a new mag coming out called "Plum", for moms-to-be 35 and over. (That's me, but the name is dumb I think).

Suzanne, Nicole, LittleBear...hoping... ...

Lizzy~I asked my massage therapist about those acupressure points this weekend (not wanting to inadvertently go into labor so soon) and he said "it's all in the intent".

Martha~I am craving smoked salmon (cold smoked, as well as caviar). I think the wisdom in the U.S. is that it's to be avoided during PG. But it's such an important part of the diet in Scandinavia, do they tell you to avoid it there?

Dena~Ha! I'm 35 and still have the occasional freak-out. Someone told me there is no "best" time to have kids, you just do and everything works out...

Thanks, Ames, I'll add that. I'm sure our meals will consist of some bland meat with a side dish and bread choice. It's at a hotel.. they don't get too creative for conferences.

I was more concerned about pregnancy related foods-to-avoid, that's why I added the shellfish. I think I should be fine. I'll be sure to pick a spot by the door so I can sneak out every so often to grab a piece of fruit for a snack! LOL...

I have a dilemma:

A very good friend has been going through IVF. This will be her second cycle. The first one was cancelled. They did the retrieval and transfer, and she told me all about it. She also told me when she was going to test (late last week), but I haven't heard anything. After TTC for 16 cycles, I'm really sensitive to asking her directly, "So, are you PG?" in case it didn't work. I know it's expensive and a last resort. But I also want her to know I'm thinking of her. What should I do?

Why is shellfish bad for preggos? I have been eating a lot of shrimp...low mercury. Is this bad?

Not knowing how it's prepared, I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm sure they won't have it, anyways. I eat shellfish, too, but I prepare it myself.

Ok, a few personals...

Dena, I freak out every day. For so long (we've been together 12 years), it's been "when we have kids". Now, we have a deadline.. and I wonder if I'm ready. I know this is what we want, but it's still terrifying.

Oh, and my tummy pops out if I eat too much! DH thinks it's pretty funny.. he pokes my belly like a kid and says, "what's that?!" Duh.. he thinks he's a comedian.

Kristen! So glad to see you're home and feeling well. I can't wait to see some pics of the little guy!

Ames, sorry to hear shopping was a bust. I went to Old Navy yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at their selection. I only got some slacks and jeans, but they have some cute tops. More my style.. not that 'smock' look, but t-shirt style tops. They have lots more online, too. They also had maternity undies.. anyone have an opinion on them? They had all styles.. including thongs! No thanks.

Sarah, I'm thinking about starting those massages soon. I think the prenatal massage package is for 6 of them.. so it's about time I start.

Michelle, SO glad DH got to feel the baby. Seems your DH and mine are in the same boat... we're suddenly moms and no longer wives.

Maybe just tell her what you told us......Let her know you are thinking about her and want to wish her well. She may open up to you and give you more information at that point. If not, she knows you are thinking about her.

You've been very good to do the same thing for us here on the board.

I just remember reading that you have to watch out for cheeses and juices that are unpasteurized and under cooked eggs and meats (and shellfish).

Hi everyone,

Hubby is travelling until Thursday, so I'm all alone over here! I miss him already! But, I spent most of the day at the spa, so that makes up for some I'm with the others recommending massages. I had a one hour massage, facial and a pedicure, mmmm have to do that more often!

Kelley, I have never heard anything about shellfish being bad, as long as it is cooked. It does tend to nausiate me, though. Smoked salmon is on our OK list here, as is caviar...raw. Who knows, I'm avoiding it.
That's a tough situation with your friend...

Good luck at the doctor LittleBear!

GoJackets, I'm going through the same things as you! I feel like I've spent so much energy focusing on getting, and staying, pregnant, that the reality of the end result became a little fuzzy. Whenever I think about it, I get all nervous about whether I'll be a good mummy and all that.

DespinFla, I know what you mean about clothes. I'm pretty big too, and all the Swedish clothes are for skinny minnies. I'll probably be one of those in a big rugby and sweats for the last 3 months!

Ames, sorry about your bra woes...I'm joining you in the cleaning dept. But this morning my washing machine broke! ARGH!
I can't even believe it!!

Oh, I had a crazy dream last night! This is about my fourth dream about having twins! I dreamt that I gave birth and it was completely easy, no pain whatsoever, or maybe I just blocked it all out. They were both boys and the first one was named Mike, but the second one had been named Elizabeth by the hospital staff for some reason. Then, I couldn't remember the second name we had picked out and said, was it Elihja (God, I can't even spell it!) Neither of these are names we have even remotely considered. Oh, and one of the babies had it's belly button on the back of its neck! Sometimes my dreams are just so vivid.

Hope everyone is having a great day so far!

Good morning ladies!

I didn't take my sleeping meds last night and I had a crappy night. I hate feeling like I'm dependent on a pill to sleep, but I'm also so very thankful for that pill. I'll definitely take one tonight for sure.

Not much new on the preggo front. Today seems to be "all-you-can-kick rib day" for my baby.

Ames: I'm sorry that you couldn't find a bra! I'm so surprised that Motherhood didn't have anything for you! I bought 2 nursing bra's there and they are 44D's, and I know they had bigger sizes. I hope you find something!

DFL: How exciting that DH finally felt the baby! How exciting!!!

Dena: I have periodic freakouts. I had the a TON at first and now I'm starting to get them a lot now that I'm getting so close. I think it's normal (or atleast that's what I tell myself).

little bear: Good luck today! I'm thinking of you. Try and relax, you'll do just fine. I think inductions go much smoother if your body has already started to prepare itself, which your has.

Kelley: Mmmm... peaches sounds YUMMY!!

Dar: Hi!

Martha: Aren't preggo dreams freaky? I've had some strange ones too!!

Ok, speaking of dreams.. does anyone dream that they use the restroom in their dream? I know that sounds really weird, but I have dreamed it a couple of times, and wake up terrified that I wet the bed! I never have in my life, but with how quickly my bladder fills up, it has me a little nervous! It's such a weird thing to dream.. but often my dreams are just like normal life. Not very exciting and I go through a normal day. I'll dream about doing the laundry, making breakfast, taking a shower, etc.

I also wake up sweating alot.. I'm usually cold when I sleep, but not anymore, I guess.

Sarah, sorry you couldn't sleep again.

Preggo dreams ARE freaky!!! I had one last night that a radio DJ caught me and DH in a more than compromising position, and was talking about it on the radio. It’s weird, especially since I haven’t been in the mood lately. (Of course, I wasn’t last time during my first trimester either. He needs to watch out for when I hit the 2nd! LOL!)

MARTHA – So sorry. I feel alone when I’m without DH too. Okay, so part of my sorrow is feeling overwhelmed with the kiddoes without him… LOL!

DENA – I seem to get nervous when I’m pregnant 1st, 2nd, and 3rd kid. LOL! I wonder how I will handle it, but somehow you do.

KELLEY – Just tell her that you are here for her. Don’t mention anything about a possible pregnancy.

AMES – Old Navy is the best. I wish I would’ve known that I had a store with a maternity section near me lots earlier in my last pregnancy. Any new clothes I get will come from Old Navy now.

LITTLE BEAR – I think the issue with Aphex’s induction is the Cervadil… I don’t have enough information on it to be informative, but I KNOW Suzanne has quite a bit.

APHEX - I’m so sorry you’re going through that.

MICHELLE – You’re freaked out about a girl… I’M a little freaked out about a boy. I think it’s because I have two girls, and I have tons of girls in my family. (I only have one male cousin, and he had the next boy in our family… Boys are fairly rare around here – LOL!)

Oh, and we told some members of our church yesterday at the picnic. Our pastor (my DD is good friends with one of his DDs) was quite surprised, but he congratulated us. I may ask h
