Good morning ladies!

Not much to say this morning. I'm in a really good mood and hope I have all this energy tomorrow on my night off when I plan to dust the house and clean out some cupboards.

Have a great day ladies! I'll check back later!

Morning Ladies!!

Thankfully our water barely crested seawall and did not head towards our backdoor!! whew...one more hurricane down.

Feeling ok today. Had some stomach cramping all night. Don't know if it's the overabundance of fresh veggies I ate yesterday or if I'm coming down with something. Still feel a little woozy today but hopefully it'll pass once I get moving. Little one has been very active already this morning. Woke me twice with her kicks and rolls, guess it's a good thing I got all that sleep this weekend.

Can't believe the names that are inching closer and closer to the top or that mine is so close to 3rd trimester!! Seems like just yesterday I was joining this thread. Hope we have some new babies this week!!!!

Mornin' Mommies -

We'd better have some babies this week or we're going to have some pretty desperate women

Hope all is well with everyone.

Glad to hear that Jeanne didn't cause too much destruction to any of our mommies, so far.

Suzanne - no need to apologize. No offense taken. Like I said, I agree with the sentiment you expressed.

Ames - glad you feel so good!

Off to start my day. I have an OB appointment tomorrow. Then just two more after that. Everything has been arranged for 10/15 for the c-section, so keep your fingers crossed that I don't go early, it would be a logistics nightmare for me, my dh, my other two kids, my sister, my Mom, and the friends who are helping me out for a couple of weeks after the birth!

Regards,
LizzyD

Hi, ladies,

Feeling good today, here. Driving to work was no problem (so far). Roads pretty empty due to no school, although hubby had school. None of the traffic lights have power on my way to work, but we have power at work. Most everyone is showing up late today... looks like I missed out on that fun.

Ames, I'm so glad to see you are feeling good on a regular basis! !

Michelle, I was thinking the same thing.. how exciting to see my name climb.

Dena & Martha.. haven't seen you guys in a bit.. doing okay?

I found out something interesting last night I never though about.. steroid creams aren't allowed during pregnancy. I have a steroid cream I've used for years (on an as-needed basis) for my sensitive face, upper arms, and nipples. Sorry.. TMI, probably, but I occasionally get spots of very itchy, dry, peeling skin, that on my nipples gets really bad to the point they break open. The cream keeps them healthier so it doesn't get to that point. I can't use it now. I guess I'll have to add this to the list of things to discuss with my dr... I'm hoping my breakouts don't get worse, and especially post baby while trying to breast feed!

Contractions last night, no baby this morning. I have a horrible pain on my upper left side around my rib cage, it won't go away, i imagine it's a stretched muscle or something, but holy it hurts. I have been up cleaning since 6:00 am.

Have a doc app't at 10:30. I imagine they will have nothing to tell me... I will check in with you after that!!!!!!!!!!

Suzanne you must be going crazy - I hope something is happening for you. I hope you aren't too uncomfortable....

LITTLE BEAR - Sending lots of labor vibes your way! This is where it feels like you've been pregnant FOR FREAKIN' EVER!

MICHELE - So glad the hurricane missed you... Well, glad it didn't cause any damage. I really feel for you guys in FL. I cannot imagine.

HELLO AMES!

LIZZY - Here's hopin' that baby will hold off until the 15th!

DAR - I didn't know that about the steroid creams. I guess since I don't use them, I didn't take the time to do the research.

This weekend, nothing but pizza, tacos, mashed potatoes and chicken strips sounded good to me. Oh, and pickles too... Well, pickled ANYTHING. MMM! Gosh, I sound like I'm on a preschooler's diet.

LOL, Jefinner. Looking back on the weekend, I actually did really well! Considering the last hurricane I felt like all I did was eat junk the whole weekend, I did so much better. All I wanted was soup, and it's hard to go too wrong with that, considering the soups in my house aren't terribly loaded with carbs. And I actually had low carb dinners with hubby. We didn't really plan for this storm to hit us, so our food choices were limited, as all the stores were closed.

I was brave enough to to weigh myself this morning.. up two pounds in the past two weeks, for a total of 8.5 pounds gained in 11 weeks. I think I'm doing okay, considering all I wanted to eat last week was chicken nuggets, french fries, sandwiches, and chocolate! It was like a monster TOM week! LOL... Unfortunately, today I have a craving for Chinese.

Hey lovely ladies!!!

Ames - so glad to hear you got the shift you wanted, and that you are feeling well!!! Hope it stays with you awhile.

Littlebear - I still can't believe no baby! My husband and his entire family are notorious for being late, I have no faith that this baby will be on time or early!!!

Me, I'm fine. Trying to make it to Wednesday. We have another u/s. A little nervous. Praying for a heartbeat. I've been avoiding this thread just a little to keep my mind on other things. I still come in and check on you guys. I will be at 9 weeks on Tuesday, and this is about the time "problems" would have occurred in the last pregnancy. So, I am holding my breath. Not being too optimistic, but avoiding pessimism as well. Just get me to the first week of November, and I might be feeling a little more confident.

Still sick during the day. Seems like I can't make it more than an hour without needing something small to eat. I guess it is the progesterone.

Hello to everyone!!! I will pop back in and hopefully hear some good news from our mommies!!

Aphexacid! Best wishes to you today! I guess you are being induced. Hope we hear something in the next few days!!!

What is up with all of these carb cravings.....? It's not even about sweets for me. For me it is mostly cheeseburgers and potatoes. French fries make me sick, but I'd take a baked potato over chocolate cake!!!!!

Hey everyone! Happy Monday!! Yuck...

Ames ~ I am so glad you are in a gread mood today - and it's Monday - that is almost never heard of. Hope you are able to stay happy - enjoy your night off.

Michelle ~ Sorry about the cramping - hope it subsides soon! Glad Jeanne didn't do any damage to your home.

Lizzy ~ Fingers are crossed that baby holds out till the 15th!

Darlene ~ Hope your skin doesn't get any worse before you can talk to your doctore. Ouch - cracked nipples...

Amy ~ Hoping that those contractions get stonger and make baby come soon! Waiting to hear what the doctor says...keeping my fingers crossed.

Martha ~ Don't you hate that!

Jennifer ~ That is funny about the pickled anything. Hope you satisfy your cravings!

So, I had asked at the end of yesterday, but I was wondering - I bought that book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". For those of you who read it, did you read every chapter or only the ones that pertain to pregnancy? It seems so long and I am afraid that I won't get to something in time but I don't want to not read something accidentally.

Tell me about it! The only sweet thing I've craved is chocolate (occasionally) and fruit. Other than that, it's just chips and crackers and weird things like that. Stuff I never really missed while LCing, too. It just seems those are the only things that make my tummy happy. I'm just not eating veggies like I should, but they don't sound good. However, I've found that some zucchini sauteed in butter or cauliflower or broccoli in cheese does the trick. It's better than having no veggies at all, I figure.

Same with meat.. chicken doesn't sound good, but we made our bacon-havarti chicken (well, actually used emmenthal (sp?), but it worked), and that I could eat all day. Lots of cheese and bacon, and I'm there. I actually ate a bunless burger Saturday, and fixed a Voila frozen meal yesterday, so I was proud of myself.

I guess this is the problem Ames was having.. plain meat didn't sound good. Are you still struggling with that?

Dena, glad to hear you are still doing well.

Hi Ladies,

Glad to hear everyone is doing well... nothing new to report here. Went to the Maryland Renaissance Faire and dressed up and gnawed on turkey legs with the rest of the nerds

SmileyAmy: I read the whole thing cover to cover and now I keep it close to the bed and refer to the pertinent chapters often. It's such an awesome reference!

Jefinner: ***WAVE***

GoJacket: I can totally understand where you are coming from, I would be a nervous wreck!! I'll be praying for ya to have a good outcome Wednesday.

Dar: Chinese food... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

LittleBear & Suzanne: Thinking about you guys... I think this going to both of your week!

LizzyD: Hope your appt. goes well!

Ames: So glad you are consistently feeling well finally!

Greetings to everyone else I missed.

Meg

Good Morning Laides...I'm kinda depressed here. Man, my hormones are wreaking havic with me! Like I've said before, hubby works out of town all week, so I only get to see him on the weekends. Well, today is his birthday, so I'm just depressed that we aren't gonna get to see him today...even though we celebrated it lastnight! I made steak, shrimp scampi, side dishes...and apple pie for dessert for his birthday dinner. It was really good. I just am beginning to REALLY miss him alot all of the sudden. Maybe it is because I am running on a lack of sleep?!? Anyway...

Ames-Glad you are feeling so well...!! Wish I had some of your energy!!

DIF-Glad you stayed dry!! Hope you feel better!

LittleBear-Do you think the cleaning could have been nesting?!? Maybe you'll have your baby today (or atleast go into labor!)!

Marthad-I hate when that happens!! Hello!

Dar-Glad you got rested up over the weekend. Chinese does sound good!

GoJackets-Good to "see" you!! I hope you start to feel better soon!

SmileyAmy-I would go ahead and read the whole book. Just like we are supposed to with DANDR!! Couldn't hurt, right?!?

Jefinner-Good morning! I gained so much in the beginning of this pregnancy because I completely went on a carb binge for about 3 months! So, now I am back and trying to stick to low carb to balance some of that out!

Miss Gigli-Good morning! Good luck this month!

Hello to all who come in after me!! Hope everyone has a good day. It is cold and rainy here...maybe that is depressing me too!

I thought I'd post this again, out of necessity. get cooking, Mommies!

Bobby Bogino, right, and his son John Bogino serve up Scalini's famous eggplant dish to pregnant ladies who want to go into labor. (ABCNEWS.com)
Yum … The Baby's Coming!
Scalini's Restaurant Serves
a Powerful Eggplant Parmigiana
ABCNEWS.com

Oct. 16— Nearly 300 baby pictures decorate Scalini's old-fashioned Italian restaurant in Cobb County, Ga.

All of the babies pictured on the Italian restaurant wall were born after their mothers ate the Scalini's eggplant parmigiana. The $9.95 plate of breaded eggplant smothered in cheese and thick marinara sauce is "guaranteed" to induce labor, the restaurant claims.

The eggplant legend began not long after the restaurant opened 23 years ago.

"Two or three years after we began, a few people had just mentioned to us they came in when they were pregnant, and ate this eggplant and had a baby a short time after that," said John Bogino, who runs the restaurant with his son, Bobby Bogino. "One person told another, and it just grew by itself by leaps and bounds."

To date, more than 300 of the pregnant women customers who ordered the eggplant have given birth within 48 hours, and the restaurant dubs them the "eggplant babies." If it doesn't work in two days, the moms-to-be get a gift certificate for another meal.

Good Morning America certainly isn't making any promises, but the restaurant has graciously shared the recipe. Here it is:

Eggplant Parmigiana Alla Scalini's

Ingredients:

• 3 medium sized eggplants
• 1 cup flour
• 6 eggs, beaten
• 4 cups fine Italian bread crumbs, seasoned
• Olive oil for sautéing
• 8 cups of marinara sauce (recipe below)
• 1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
• 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
• 1 1/2 pounds of mozzarella cheese, shredded
• 2 cups of ricotta cheese

Directions:

1. After you wash the eggplant, slice them into ¼-inch thick slices. You may choose to peel the eggplant before you slice it. However, you may want to leave the skin on since it contains a lot of vitamins.
2. Place the eggplant slices on a layer of paper towels and sprinkle with a little salt, then cover with another layer of paper towels and hold it down with something heavy to drain the excess moisture. Let them sit for about an hour.
3. Working with one slice of eggplant at a time, dust with flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat well with breadcrumbs.
4. Sauté in preheated olive oil on both sides until golden brown.
5. In baking dish, alternate layers of marinara sauce, eggplant slices, ricotta, parmesan and Romano cheeses, until you fill the baking dish, about 1/8 inch from the top. Cover with shredded mozzarella cheese, and bake for 25 minutes in a 375 degree oven. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Scalini's Marinara Sauce

Ingredients:

• 2 Tablespoons of chopped garlic
• 3 Tablespoons of olive oil
• 8 cups chopped tomatoes (fresh or canned)
• 1 cup onions, chopped
• 1/2 cup of fresh chopped parsley
• 1 teaspoon oregano
• 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper
• 1/8 cup of fresh chopped sweet basil
• Pinch of thyme
• Pinch of rosemary
• One teaspoon salt
• One teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

1. Lightly sauté the onions in olive oil in large pot for a few minutes.
2. Add garlic and sauté another minute.
3. Add tomatoes and bring sauce to a boil, then turn heat low.
4. Add remaining ingredients, stir, cover and let simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.

Hi Mommies,

Yesterday I started losing pieces of my plug! My midwife says that labor usually follows within 24 to 72 hours. I had mild contractions during the night but nothing now. I figure losing the plug combined with tomorrow´s full moon should do the trick. And 28 is my lucky number. Then I think about little bear losing her plug weeks ago....Anyway, I´m going to have lunch with my girlfriend who is pregnant with monoamniotic twins. It always makes me feel better because she is so much bigger than I am. Really makes me appreciate having a singleton and if she can grin and bear it at 7 months with twins, I have no right to complain.

Kristen, hope this is your day even though it is going to make me so jealous. At least you´ll have a little more breathing room before the hospital strike.

little bear, labor vibes, labor vibes, labor vibes!

GoJackets, hope you hear the heartbeat, it will be so reassuring for you. I have craved carbs since m/s set in around 7 weeks. I have to be really careful with sugar because once I start I can´t stop. I`m too embarrassed to even post my diet although I am getting my 100 gms of protein per day.

Glad to see that most of the FL moms are here with us after the hurricane. I´ll check in later unless something exciting happens.

Saludos,

Suzanne

You shouldn't be embarassed! We've seen your pictures! You look fabulous!!!

Yep! I still can't stand meat plain....if it's in something it's fine. The last few days I've been eating chicken nuggets using the recipe from Dana Carpenters book for Heroin wings dipped in blue cheese dressing (don't worry it's pasteruized ). However, I couldn't stand the smell of it cooking and I couldn't bring myself to even cut up the raw chicken. My sweetie did all that for me.

LOL, it might be your Monday, but it's my Friday! Maybe that's why.

No kidding! I'm so jealous of the ladies here that look so fab during their pregnancy. I wasn't near goal when I got pg, but that really doesn't bother me, since I know I can lose it later. I just wish I could control myself a little better! I so wanted to be 'cute', instead I'm going to be 'fluffy'.. LOL.. silly, I know.

Suzanne, looks like the full moon might get you!

I actually thought about making that the other day! Wings, with the bone in, do not sound appetizing at all, but strips or nuggets? Sounds good! I love the Herion Wings. Her 15 minute book has Heroin chicken fingers.

Well, I didn't post this weekend mostly out of guilt. I ate like a pig!!! I am up a pound and a half. Yesterday I went on a long walk and when I got home, I was ravenous! I ate three peanut butter sandwiches right off the bat. Add that to the four (!) pieces of toast for breakfast. So what if it was LC? My calories are through the roof, according to Fitday. Yes, whoever mentioned French fries is right. They sound so good to me. On Saturday, we went out to lunch and I ordered a side of fries with my salad. The waitress forgot twice, then sent them to the wrong table. By then we were all finished. I thought I would throttle her.

Ames~Congrats on getting midnights! Why did that guy decide not to take that line? You must be so relieved!

Desp~I'm glad Jeanne didn't pound you guys.

LittleBear~Yay on the contractions, right?

Nicole~Is this your cesarean day? Good luck!

Lizzy~I hope you DON'T go early, so no eggplant parmesan for you!

GoJ~Good luck on Wednesday's U/S!

Martha~Hi!

Meg~Hi!

GetN~I'm glad your DH had a nice b-day dinner. That sounds delicious. Where is he going?

Jefinner~Hi!

Dar~I have a cream for eczema that I'd better check the ingredients on. I didn't even think of steroids.

Suzanne~Yay on mucous plug going! Sugar is a trigger for me too. IS the food in Mexico easy to navigate for LC? I remember those yummy, thick handmade corn tortillas from my last trip. Yummmm!

Smiley~Hi! Honestly, I just skimmed the book a lot, and got the info I needed!

LOL, I had to share this article with you ladies....it's from October ePregnancy magazine:

Fabulously Fertile Figures

Do you worry that your body is too curvaceous? Hold the extra workouts! Researchers think that having an hourglass figure might not be such a bad thing after all, especially where fertility is concerned. According to a Polish study, women with large breasts and small waists are more likely to become pregnant.

The study looked at 119 Polish women who were categorized into four distinct body types: large breasts/narrow waist, large breasts/broad waist, small breasts/narrow waist or small breasts/broad waist. The women had their saliva smapled for pregnancy-related hormones during one menstrual cycle. High levels of these hormones are good indicators that a woman will successfully become pregnant. Women with large breasts and small waists had higher hormone levels. The result suggest that the ratio of bust-to-waist may predict hormone levels, which in turn could increase your odds of pregnancy. So if you've been blessed with a Marilyn Monroe shape, stop thinking of it as a curse. Instead, thank your fertility goddess since you may have an easier time conceiving than your less-curvaceious sisters.

I guess this worked for me, but good grief why did my already large breast become even bigger! Did this work for you ladies?
