Good morning ladies!
There looks to be hope for me still to get either straight mids or evenings as other people are contemplating other things, so I've got my fingers crossed. I almost hope this girl takes the midnight line (granted someone else bids something different than originally planned) and screws herself over, then I will never have to worry about her bidding midnights again! Ok, I really need to quit ranting about this. I just hope the bidding is over with soon!LizzyD, thanks for your insight on bf. As much as I don't want to supplement with formula, I suppose if pumping is impossible that's what is going to happen. Teach2Live, I didn't know about any laws for bf moms, but I don't want to make trouble either. We don't have scheduled breaks or people to cover our desk, so it would be hard to just get up and leave if I'm having a busy day. We actually get payed 8 1/2 hours because we don't get the breaks, so it'd be hard to argue that I need certain times off during shift. If I work midnights there is downtime on even busy shifts, so that would be the ideal shift to work. Thanks for the info though. Well, to add to my disgust with the whole schedule bidding, I just found out that I will need to work Wednesday night now because of some schedule changes covering our extra shifts. I scheduled my ultrasound for that morning because I was going to have the night off. I know that I'm going to be all wound up and calling family and such so I don't know when I'll get to bed. Now I'm scheduled to be at work by 10:30 that night. Ok, is this week over yet ladies? I'm ready to put all this stress behind me. Hopefully my ultrasound on Wednesday will brighten my week and everything else will work out ok... Ames |

Looks like the progesterone treatment is common, but debated among doctors. Some doctors fear that low progesterone is a sign of an inevitable miscarriage and the progesterone just delays it, but you will eventually miscarry. Other doctors suggest that you can have a progesterone deficiency and thus lose the baby because you can't sustain the pregnancy.
I think most doctors agree that if you are going to lose the baby for any other reason than low progesterone, that you will lose the baby. Progesterone won't make you "keep" a baby that your body thinks should miscarry............. But, if you are deficient, it has a high success rate of sustaining pregnancy. I guess the debate comes in because doctors just throw the progesterone out there as a band-aid instead of looking for other problems. I think I am okay with the treatments now because if I carry this one to term, then I have a luteal phase defect and will know what to look for next time I am pregnant. If I miscarry again, then there is probably something else wrong that we need to look for. No matter what, unless you are getting mega-doses of progesterone, it's not going to harm you to try it. We shall see. I typed out individual responses to everyone yesterday and lost them. I am going to try to do that again today. I am always so grateful to you ladies for your kind words. QUESTION: Can any of you briefly describe your breast changes? Mine were larger, sensitive, have more veins, have bumps on the areola and very full.......but the past few days they haven't been as full or sensitive.....and you know how I over analyze every thing!! I was wondering if you noticed if your breasts constantly changed back and forth or did they just start to change and continue changing (bigger, more sensitive, etc.)?

Hi everyone!
Well, I just came from the doctors appointment. This woman was highly recommended by a retired midwife who thinks the Swedish system needs to be reformed. Anyhow, she didn't seem particularly happy to see us, and was quite perplexed as a matter of fact, as to why I didn't go to a midwife. It's my feeling that here doctors are reserved for only if something goes horribly wrong. Well, she set me up with a midwife on Friday. The good news is I got another u/s and everything looked great! It was totally exciting to see our little one, mostly head, but 4 cm CTR! One of our stocks took a massive dive this morning and my husband is obsessing and fretting about it (we are both stock analysts) and he's bound to brood about it. Hopefully the u/s will help give him some perspective Ames, sending some destressing vibes your way! GoJackets, I know what you mean, after miscarrying twice I am a ball of nerves over every little change. This morning I was feeling like my breasts were smaller too! Over the weekend, I had a seriously itchy nipple, shoot, now that I'm thinking about it, it's itchy again! This might be TMI, but I've also felt like my nipples and aerolas are a little bit sweaty. I understand under the breast, but the nipple sweat really perplexes me! I definitely think the sensitivity is decreasing, sometimes I could hardly shower. Dar, I just noticed today that your due date is my birthday! Hi to all to come! |

Morning, ladies!
Dena, while I'm still a newbie at this , I can say that mine change. For a few days last week, they felt great. Starting yesterday, they were hurting like crazy and this morning it even hurt to wash them. That is a new development. If only they'd get a bit bigger.. at least I'd have some compensation for the pain! ![]() Ames, does that mean you have NO smokers on your job? Or at least none who take smoking breaks??!! I find that a little hard to believe. I mean.. great you get paid that extra 1/2 hour, but I thought there was a law that for an 8 hour shift, you are entitled to a certain amount of breaks? Maybe I'm just making that up. Sounds good, though, doesn't it?! With the number of breaks our smokers here take, I don't feel guilty about taking longer lunches or when I'll have to pump. But I don't work in an environment like you.Not feeling too bad here. I didn't really feel very good all weekend, though. That might have been due to my carb binge on Saturday. I'm not sure. Yesterday was just awful.. my head hurt (still does), and my stomach was just really upset all day. Whether I ate or not. I got some Fiber One cereal yesterday, and had it for breakfast. It was pretty darn good! So, I'm hoping adding that in every so often might help me get a little more regular. I think that might be why my tummy aches.. there's not alot of room down there right now anyways.. and add to that I'm constipated. Things are a little cramped. ![]() ? for you girls who had a tipped uterus.. did you feel it move? Could you tell when it did? I'm just hoping it happens soon.. it hadn't moved as of my last appt. on Tuesday. I'm wondering if my tummy will pop out more when it does move? Quote:

Good morning ladies!!
Well we had a nice weekend. We went up camping again. Brrr! Mornings were like 40 degrees, but I really enjoyed it. I'm a cold weather gal anyway, but being pregnant just ads to it! So I was in heaven!! I didn't sleep well though, so I'm seriously debating going back up. I think I'm just getting to far along to be comfortable. Dena: To answer your question from this weekend: I have a blood clotting disorder. It was discovered when I developed a blood clot in my leg that broke apart and went into my lungs. It was caused by me taking birth control pills. I carry a genetic mutation that causes my blood to clot really well, but not unclot. The reaction that I had to the birth control was actually a reaction to extra estrogen. So, being pregnant poses the same risk...thus, the injections. I have a risk of developing another clot myself, and/or developing clots in my placenta causing it not to function. So, that's me in a nutshell. I'm glad you researched more on the progesterone and are feeling more comfortable about it. I pray for you everyday. I pray you are able to carry this baby to term. As far as breast changes, mine have went through a lot! At first (before I even knew I was pg) they were SO sore. It would get better and worse. Then, my nipples started peeling. They have done that on and off throughout my whole pregnancy. Now that I'm later in my pg the areolas and nipples are darker, almost purple. I also have the little bumps. Mine leak colostrum now, they've been doing that for about a month or so now. They've grown too. Ames: I hope the shift bidding works out well for you!! And how exciting that you have your ultrasound on Wednesday!!! Martha: I'm so glad you got to see your little one on u/s again!! Yay!! Dar: I'm sorry about the constipation. I went through that too! Mine did get much better though later one. I hope the cereal helps! little bear: Good morning!! |

Hi Mommies -
Hope you all had a nice weekend! Ames - keeping my fingers crossed for your schedule to work out. I think the coffee/smoking break and maybe the even the breastfeeding laws that are being quoted to you might be for workers paid on an hourly basis. If you are a salaried worker (which it sounds as though you might be) you may not be eligible for some of those benefits. Although the new overtime legislation going into effect may change some of what's on the books now. If it concerns you, it might be worth either a call to your HR department to find out what your rights are, or ask for a copy of your employee handbook. If you're at a big enough company their policy HAS to be in writing. The way I look at it, they can't really legislate bodily functions, right? If you get your period sitting at your desk, no matter how busy it is, you get up and go take care of it. If you become engorged and your breasts start leaking, and you've got two grapefruit-sized stains of milk on the front of your shirt, I don't think anybody's going to complain if you take 10-15 minutes to go pump (by the way, that scenario only has to happen once for them to give you all the leeway you need to do what ya gotta do, no matter how busy it is, he he he ... GoJackets - how was the game? I don't really follow college ball, all I know is that my beloved Red Sox a getting crushed by the Yankees (anybosy but the yankees!).Martha & Dar - g'mornin'. Hey, where's Mrs. Sarah? Suzanne and LittleBear - fingers still crossed for you! I think I've settled on the Babytrend, Adjustable Back, Latch Loc rear-facing infant car seat. I can get a stroller for it to snap into too if I like. They're rated the best out of all the other seats for saefty, ease of use, etc. by Consumer Reports, NHTSB, and BabyCenter. Anybody know anything about them, or have another brand of favorite/safe/easy to use infant car seat to suggest? 'Bye for now, LizzyD

Thanks, Sarah, did you see my ? yesterday about the Splenda?
I just found out great news... I can use short term disability for maternity leave = 4 extra weeks of FULL pay!!!! On top of my vacation and sick days. Yay! That makes me feel so much better. I'm a little perplexed on how to tell my office the news. I have about 4 levels of bosses. Logic tells me I should probably tell my immediate boss first, but the guy has only been here a week and hardly knows me. So, my next thought was to tell the highest up boss first, then work my way down from there. Anyone have any ideas? I can't see myself going to each person and telling them individually, but we don't have staff meetings on a regular basis around here. I'm getting a bit frustrated just thinking about it. |

As for being entitled to breaks....I'm not sure. I eat at my desk and can take all the bathroom breaks I want, but I'd better not be away from the desk long as I'm monitoring turbulence and other weather for half the world, and our flights need to know that information as soon as possible. Safety is very important to our airline....that's why I have a job. As I said before, my co-worker who breastfed did leave the desk twice for about 15 minutes each day, but she also traded into the desk that always had downtime, which doesn't exist anymore. I guess I'll have to talk to my boss about it. Ames Last edited by metroames : 09-20-2004 at 08:51 AM. |

Dar: Yes, I did see your question, I'm sorry about that!! I haven't had an aversion to Splenda, I've just chosen not to use artificial sweeteners at all while pregnant. It was just a personal decision. So, it tastes bad to you now?

Yikes, Ames, what a stressful job!!!! I'm so sorry! I work in construction = lots of smokers. Ugh.. fortunately the office is smoke free. Visiting the job sites is another story.
Thanks, Sarah. It didn't taste bad, I could just smell it really strongly. Darned super nose I've gotten since getting pg. The cookies tasted fine.. well, I could tell they were LC, but they were passable! DH appreciated I made a LC snack, since my carb eating has been bugging him. |

Good morning ladies!! Sorry I didn't post all weekend...my husband's family was in town on Saturday and then yesterday we celebrated my mom's bday at my house...so I had all the cooking and cleanup! Did HORRIBLE on my eating though...I made Manicotti...and ate it! I haven't had real pasta in I don't know how long!! Oh, and I also ate cake and ice cream! Anyway, jumped right back on track today. I had old-fashioned rolled oats with imitation honey and Hood milk for breakfast....and am working on my 32 oz. thing of water! I'm really trying to not gain anymore weight as I am up to about 180 lbs. now, and I am only 5'3! Anyway, besides that everything is going well...! Oh, we decided on Gage Thomas for a boy and Emma Jean if it is a girl. We aren't telling any family members though, because we don't wanna hear any negative comments about it if they don't like the names!
Ames-Sorry to hear about the scheduling difficulties. Hopefully you will get the shift you want so you are able to spend most of the afternoon and night with your baby! Dar-I would tell the highest boss up first. Wouldn't it then be HIS job to tell the coworkers under him?!? Oh, and I too had an aversion to splenda in the beginning...but am now able to have it. I drink decaffinated ice tea with splenda as a sweetener! Marthad-Glad you got everything figured out with the Midwife!! So exciting to see your baby on the u/s!! Sorry to hear about the stock crash Little Bear-Hope you're feeling okay and getting some extra sleep before the baby comes! GoJackets- Glad you were able to find out more about your treatments...and praying that it will work for you! Mrs Sarah-I too love camping...but I'm only 6 months along and I don't think I could get comfortable to sleep!! Good for you though for getting away and trying! LizzyD-I haven't really read up on carseats...though I should as I got rid of the one I used for my last two children and now am going to have to buy a new one! Maybe I'll look at the one that you have decided on! Hello to anyone who checks in after I post this! I'll be back later after I get some chores done! Have a good day all! Vanessa |

Thanks, Ames. I haven't touched my Diet Rite or Hansen's, either. It just wasn't tasting as good. Like I said, the cookies tasted fine, but I really noticed the taste in my sodas. Weird.Hopefully these aversions go away after delivery, or LCing is going to suck! LOL.. |

Happy Monday!
Well, I have my "big" 20 week ultrasound today! I really don't know what they will do since I have already had so many and we know the sex for sure, but it's always fun to see her! We got SNOW here last night! Fall is here. Ames~I hope you get to keep your scheduled u/s this week. Will your DH go with you? I have a "feeling" you are having a boy! Dena~I was perplexed in the beginning too because breast tenderness and related soreness seem to be such a symptom for many PG ladies, but not for me. Every now and then I would have tenderness and it would really catch me by surprise. Just not a symptom I could really count on. I did get nipple discharge occasionally from about 8 weeks PG. Crusty and kind of painful. Ick. My BBS are not really bigger, I am still in my same bra size. It's snug, but not unconfortable. My DH was really looking forward to the arrival of the "Titty Fairy", LOL. Martha~Hi! I'm glad you will see a midwife, although it was probably good you got to see the doc anyway, if only to find out you're not high enough risk to really need her! Sorry about the stock stress. Sarah~You are Camper of the Year! Wow! GetnSlim~Where do you get the imitation honey? What is that called? I LOVE honey, but gave it up due to LC. Are we allowed to have real honey while PG, or is that just a no-no for newborns? I had a carb-laden weekend too, and felt like crap about 1/2 hr to 2 hours after eating brownies. Serves me right. I love the names you have picked out. Pauline! Hi! Cassidy is such a peach. How are you feeling? Dar~Splenda lost its appeal to me too, but I still occasionally have SF maple syrup, which contains Splenda. Lizzy~I don't know anything about the Babytrend carseat, but what does Epionions or Consumer Reports say? I have just not researched carseats yet. I will learn from you! BBL with U/S results! Kelley

Dar- Glad you feel better today- I am so jealous of your short term disability- that is wonderful. I don't get any paid maternity. Pauline- How is Cassidy? 1 month old already- that did fly!!! Get-n-slim- UMMM- Manicotti Hi everyone else. I have been having some contractions on and off since yesterday morning. They are not close together- I just don't want to have them- I really want to make it to the 29th. My bp is about the same but I am not worring about it. (144/90) - It was a wild drive into work today- I got to see some of the flood devistation. It is amazing in some area's = The walking trail behind my building is run over with debris so I will not be able to use that for awhile. - Hope everyone has a good Monday!!!

Kelley, everything I've found on the internet says we can have honey. It poses no harm to us or baby, just newborn's can't have it. I looked it up because a peanut butter & honey sandwich sounded yummy.. then I remembered that the smell of peanut butter makes me ill. LOL...
I missed out on the "titty fairy", too. ![]() Kristen, I hope those contractions don't get any worse for you. We are finally drying out from Frances here. I know what you mean about the flooding. We still have sinkholes popping up in unusual places. Pretty much anywhere in FL is susceptible to them.. but they are more common north of Tampa in an area called Spring Hill, where there are alot of underground springs and rivers. Saturday, one opened up on one of the major thoroughfares in Tampa! |
