Pregnancy Thread: 9/16 - 9/22

Hi everyone, this is my last time starting a pregnancy thread!!! I can't believe that sometime tomorrow I'll be holding my LB in my arms. I'm really anxious to find out the sex, since I was forced to be surprised this time. My DH and I will be waking up early tomorrow, dropping the kids off at Grandma's house, and then heading off to the hospital, where we'll meet my Doula. I don't feel quite as nervous, knowing that I have a Doula to help me. She was fantastic with my 2nd pregnancy, which was "much" better than my 1st one.

Thanks to those who answered my "How many children do you want to have" question. It looks like most of you will be returning to this thread, at some point in the future.

For the record, I gained about 4 lbs during this pregnancy - yeah! I can't wait to get back to losing, when I can (depends on if I'll be nursing or not).

Lee A. - You are an amazing mom! If you can write about all the problems you're currently having, and still go on to say that you want more children, all I can say is - WOW! LOL. I'm truly sorry to hear about your baby having Chicken Pox, and possibly your older DD. I've yet to experience anything like that with my two. Here's to wishing that everyone (including your puppy) gets better in the very near future. Stay tuned for new thread!

Stephanie - I hope those iron pills really help. At least they were able to figure out the problem fairly easy.

Ashley - Thanks for all the kind words! It sounds like it won't be too much longer for you either. If you start to go into labor, will they do an emergency c-section right away?

Kimberly - I hope your m/s ends soon! How wonderful that you got to see your LB's HB. I hear ya on having 3 under 3. Some people think I'm nuts for having 3 under 5. I always wanted my children close in age, so they can grow up together, and hopefully be good friends.
Becky - Haven't seen a post from you in awhile. I hope that all is well!

Thanks also to everyone else who posted kind/encouraging/supportive words to me! I enjoyed reading them all. Stay tuned for my birth story!

MaryC
LB arriving tomorrow!

Mary: I'm so happy for you! Hope that everything went smoothly. I'm sure we won't hear from you for a few days. I can't wait to hear all about it. Congratulations!

Mary congrats!! I"m all excited for you!!

Can't wait to find out if your little baby is a girl or boy!! Good luck!

Everyone else, have a great day! I hope everyone is doing well.

I must be getting closer to delivery. Not close mind you...but closer. I swear I feel like my pubic bones are about to crack. I got an exercise ball, that I really enjoy sitting on in front of the computer, really took a lot of the pressure off of me.

Anyway, have a great day all!

Mary good luck! I'm so anxious to hear how everything goes!!!

Lisa - those balls are just awesome! Can you take it with you to the hospital? It really helps with labour pains, especially if you have back labour.

Hello everyone!

Wow, mary! This is it for you. How exciting! I pray your delivery will be quick and smooth. I want to read your birth story!

I'm more and more miserable everyday! And more and more excited too! I'm going to go through my old baby clothes and see which ones can do for Baby Noah. Some of them are stained after going through two boys. My sweet mom is going to wash them for me.

Some ladies at church said they want to give me a shower, but I honestly don't want one this late in the game. Our church is really made up of poor people and they gave me a really nice shower with my last LB. I have so much already. Plus, I'd really like to hibernate for the next two weeks and not be the center of attention. Especially for those games like where they guess how long of a piece of toilet paper it will take to go around my tummy.

They did that game at my last shower and I was so embarrassed . I'm so far along now, I just don't think I can handle being the center of attention. Of course I told them how appreciative I am that they would think of giving one...I hope they don't think I'm rude.

My feet are starting to swell and my fingers are feeling tight . And my BH's are getting a little more uncomfortable, but not regular. My dr said at my appointment last week that I am carrying much lower . I asked if that might mean I might deliver early, and she said she doubted it...

oct. 4 will be here soon...I've much to do! I wish that nesting energy would kick in!

Hope you are all doing well.

MaryC, just wanted to congratulate (early) on the birth of your LB.

Reading everyone's posts makes me realize how much I have to look forward to!

Anyway, I woke up at 5AM experiencing some light spotting which got heavier as the morning wore on. I called the 24 nurse line at my hospital and the nurse said it was probably not too serious but to call my ob when his office opened. My ob nurse thinks it is just blood from my cervix being irritated from intercourse this wkend. I really haven't had cramps but I am having gas pains. I am still spotting but overall feeling pretty good. Except for m/s (nausea). I decided to stay home from work anyway.....just incase.

We also had an u/s on Friday. We saw the baby's heartbeat! It was very exciting for dh and I. EDD is late April/Early MAy.

Oh, any my nurse called today to tell me my state mandated blood screen came back normal!

I just pray that the bleeding stops soon! One less thing to worry about!

Christine: I had spotting/bleeding at 9 1/2 weeks. This started on a Sunday, and Monday I went to the Dr. and had an ultrasound. Baby was okay but she did see some blood in the uterus. She said was possibly due to placental activity since it was just being formed. The bleeding lasted on and off for a week. She told me no intercourse until the bleeding had stopped for a full week. If your bleeding is due to cervical irritation then I wouldn't worry too much about it. I was also diagnosed at 12 weeks with placenta previa, which may have been the reason I started bleeding in the first place, having the placenta form over my cervix. At 20 weeks, the placenta has started to move away and no longer considered to have placenta previa. It's one inch away. Take it easy and you should be fine.

WOW MARY! I am so excited for you! Please take care of yourself and try to get some rest in the hospital-I am sure you will need it! I am looking forward to hearing how everything goes for you!!

Everything here is fine. Just getting anxious (as many of you are!) I had a very difficult time finding a shirt that fit properly to wear to church yesterday. (thankfully I did find one!) I feel like I am going to POP-I think everyone that sees me thinks I am going to POP as well. In some ways I am so ready for the baby to be here, and then there are things I really would like to get done first! I guess time will tell..............I have my bag packed and ready to go. I don't know if I will go into labor or not w/ the baby being transverse (although last week I was in so much pain, I wonder if he has moved) If I do go into labor, I will go in for an emergency c-section. I am not looking forward to the after surgery stuff, but am SO thankful I get to stay in the hospital for 98 hours and that my mom is close by and very willing to help when we get home!

take care everyone-such exciting stuff going on!

Thanks everyone! I'm up very early this morning, and I'll be getting ready shortly to go to the hospital. I pray that all goes smoothly with my L&D. This is all so exciting, scary, and nerve-wracking, all at the same time. I'll post again when I can. It's been great being a part of this thread, I hope to see you all on the next one. Take care!

Hello everyone!

I found out recently that I am pregnant and would like to join in on this thread. Here's a quick introduction:

My name is Susan and I'm 30 years old. DH and I married on July 20th of this year, and started ttc right away. We were very fortunate to have it happen this fast. This is my first, so this is all new to me (DH has a five year old son).

Everything has been going ok so far. My bbs are very sore and swollen and seem to be getting bigger by the minute. I haven't had m/s (yet). My due date (by my calculations) is May 9, 2003. My first dr's appointment is this Thursday (Sept 19th).

Sorry this is so long. Just wanted to introduce myself.

Susan

Hi everyone, sounds so exciting here.! Mary I will be praying for you!

Christine I had some spotting about three weeks ago and I think mine was due to intercorse as well. Then this weekend I ended up in the emergency room because I was bleeding very heavily! I still do not know what caused it but I did have an ultrasound this morning and everything looks normal. Saw the heartbeat and everything is right where it should be, they had no explination for me. My due dat is April 25.

gads ladies...a friend of mine had her baby last night. She was 35 weeks 6 days along. Her baby weighed 2 lbs 11 ounces! I don't know all the details, but all I can guess is IUGR. We had a joint baby shower a couple weeks ago. I've heard the baby is doing awesome even for being so small, so thats good.

I hope everything is alright with them

News report here: No baby! I ended up leaving the hospital last night, after the pictocin was tried for about 7 hrs., with little to no progress. They wanted to let me rest and try again this morning, but I said, "No way." It's obvious my LB just isn't ready to be born yet, and I'm not about to force him or her. If I were "past" my due date, than I would have stayed. So as it is, I have a Drs. appt. tomorrow, where I'll schedule another induction date for next week. Hopefully I won't need to keep that one, b/c I'll have had my baby naturally before then. I so don't look forward to going through another ordeal like yesterday. I'm very sore, crampy, and tired (sort of like I got run over by a mack truck).

Welcome Susan, congrats on your pregnancy!

Mary: And here I thought I was going to read all about your birth and the baby. That really sucks. Hopefully you'll go on your own within a few days. I was induced with my daughter and that pitocin sure did bring the contractions on hard and fast. Here's hoping that you have a nice, easy natural birth. Good luck.

back from my appt.

I'm 2 centimeters dilated, 50% effaced and stretchy. She actually touched the baby's head!

So we all know what THAT means! could mean something, most likely means NOTHING

C'est la vie...at least now I know!

Have a good day everyone

Mary-You poor thing! I am so sorry the induction did not work. I am with you though, if he/she is not ready, better to stay in a while longer. I was induced w/ my first and it was awful. I was in labor for 11 hours-my dr broke my water so I had to stay until the baby was born (which ended up being by c-section after all that trouble!) I am glad they let you go home. You will be back before you know it!

Hope everyone else is okay. Sounds like we will definately have some stories the next couple of weeks!

Congrats Susan on your pregnancy. This is a wonderful thread of much needed support!

I have a dr's appt tomorrow. Hoping she will say, let's go across the street to the hospital and deliver that baby! But I think she is actually wanting to push my date back for delivery. I am in so much pain, I don't know if I will handle that well. I still have much to do around the house, so I guess even at the latest, 2 more weeks go by, I should get on top of things at home.

Take care

Ashley: Sorry to hear that you are so uncomfortable. It won't be for too much longer. Hang in there!

Not much going on here. The iron pills seem to help me. My breathing isn't nearly as bad as it was. I'm feeling the baby lots, which brings me great joy.

Mary, I hope you are resting and are as comfortable as you can be. That was a lot to go through. Surely it won't be long now.

I hope you all are doing great. I relived a little of first trimester yesterday...I felt sick at my stomach all day long, and finally threw up everything. It was so gross...made me remember that I really don't want to go through all of that again! : >

Anybody in their last trimester having major sinus problems? I have so much yucky stuff draining that I can't sleep. I've read that this can happen near the end. I'm just not sure if I have a little sinus cold or if it's due to pregnancy.

My weight gain seems to have leveled out. It's a good thing because I've gained almost 50 pounds! My ankles are slightly swollen but not as bad as with my first pregnancy when I was on my feet a lot of the day. I really feel for any of you that have to work a job every day, that makes it so much harder.

Ashely, how did the doctor's visit go? Our L&D stories sound somehwat alike. I was induced with my first pregnancy and ended up having a c-section too. I know what you mean about having a lot to do before LB gets here. Sometimes I wish I'd go into labor right now and other times I think I'll never really be ready!

Lisa, it sounds like you could go any time! I hope you are feeling good! And I hope your friend's LB is doing fine too.

Ldybug, how are you doing? I hope that bleeding has stopped. Our bodies can do such weird things while pg... : ) What a comfort to know the ulstrasound says everything is ok.

Susan, welcome to this great thread! Congratulations! I hope you had a good doctor's visit. You'll have to tell us all about it!

Cchavez, how are you? I hope all that bleeding has stopped for you too. Sorry to hear about the m/s. It is such a drag. Hopefully that will pass soon for you and you'll get that second trimester burst of energy!

everyone take care!"

Becky...don't feel bad about the weight gain.

I swear, as soon as I had to be less LC my body packed it on. I started this pregnancy at 165 *starting weight before lc 220*...and this morning I weighed 213. Cest la vie...It will come off right?

I think my body is seriously sensitive to carbs and I just packed it on. Oh well. I've lost it before, I'll lose it again! And in the meantime, I'm going to have a healthy little boy.

My friends baby is doing fine amazingly! Her apgars were 9 and 9. I guess she was as developed as a 36 weeker...she was just tiny. It turns out her placenta was half the size it should have been. Can't believe a 2 lb 11 ounce baby had apgars of 9!

Anyway...

Oh yeah, and at my appt yesterday, I'd lost 2 lbs...no comment from the doc of course. Jerks They yell when I put weight on, NOTHING when I lose. oh well

Have a great day all

Good morning ladies! Wow, sounds like a lot is about to happen! I am doing well and the bleeding did stop. It actually turned to brown spotting that lasted for a couple more days then compleatly stopped on Monday.

I don't even want to say what I have gained already. Seems like when I found out I was pg I just went right off low carb and right back to the way I had been eating. I have decided to stop eating sugary foods like DUNKIN DONUTS!! I think that if I do then maybe I will have a chance of staying right around 200 for the final number. Of course that isn't taking into account the bloating that everyone is telling me about.

Becky, hope you are feeling better today and not throwing up! I am having sinus problems right now. I breath very loud, and am always blowing my nose. I can't imagine it getting worse!

Hi girls!
I'm so excited for everyone here, we are reaching the last stretch for many of you.

Mary: I, too, am glad to hear you chose to go home and wait it out. It's an awful wait, but if your little one isn't ready to come out of the oven then it just isn't time yet. Remember some babies need to "roast" a little longer! I'm sure you will have your baby in your arms soon. Good luck!!

Lisa: Dilated to 2! Yikes. How are you feeling? I'm sure Nick is on pins and needles. And, doesn't it just make you crazy when they focus on your weight only when you are gaining! You would think an OB would have learned by now how to compliment a woman when her weight is controlled. Their practice is all women, isn't it! I will say, my doctor never made even the slightest comment to me when I was pregnant with Melissa. I was really hoping for some "good job" support, but I just didn't get it. My doctor, though, didn't comment negatively to my girlfriend eigther and her weight gain was quite a bit uncontrolled.

ldybug: glad to hear your bleeding is over. Try and stay away from the donut shop! Actually, McDonalds is being my downfall, I really have missed eating fish sandwiches from there, so I've had a couple in the last week. I better stop that!

Christine: How are you? Please check in, I hope your spotting is over too.

I'm officially 10 weeks along and we still haven't told our parents. Does anyone have a good idea to break the news. This will be their second grandchild on both sides, Melissa was the first. There really isn't any special occasions coming up, so we will probably just go out to dinner with them and tell them. For Melissa, we wrapped "grandparent" type books and picture frames and presented them at a dinner. I did buy Melissa a "I'm a big sister" shirt when i told my husband we were expecting again, so maybe I'll just put that on her when we see our parents and make them figure it out. Any other cute suggestions?

Kim

I had friends who did that with their oldest (I am the big brother)
took a picture of him and tossed it in with other photos of a vacation they had taken and when the grandparents got to the picture they were shocked!

I was a surrogate last year and my couple told their parents by putting the ultrasound picture into a Hallmark card and giving it to them (I think it was her FIL's birthday or something)
They had written "EDD of grandparents June 19, 2002"
Needless to say the grandparents were all choked up.

My other girlfriend bought a baby bottle (a cheap one) and put her home pregnancy test in it, wrapped it in tissue paper and put a bow on it. She did however say don't open the bottle up once it is closed apparently the urine smells after awhile lol

Whatever way you tell them I am sure they will be thrilled! Congratulations to you all on your pregnancies and upcoming births!

Vanessa,
Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't think of the using the ultrasound pictures! I did get an early ultrasound with this pregnancy, so I just might incorporate that. Thanks!</
