Hi girls,
Nothing much happening here today, m/s seems to be abating--hope that's nothing to worry about, my breasts are less tender too. Our dryer is malfunctioning, so I went to hang things on the line and it broke! So, now I'm trying to figure out what to do with all the wet clothes! Argh! No one can come to look at it until Tuesday. Hope everyone is well! |

Wow, I'm up with the Early Girls! It is 3:30 AM and I can't sleep, so I just had a sandwich. I was so hungry!
I will be back later, but my question of the day is: 1) When did you FIRST feel your baby move and 2) When did you feel daily, consistent movement? I know I have felt her for sure but some days I just don't know... Thanks ladies! Kelley |

Oh, after I indulged in a piece of pie one night the little bugger was moving around a lot...it almost felt like the baby was rolling around in there! Anyway, I guess I really haven't felt consistent movement yet...and I don't feel something everyday either. Ames |

Morning Mommies -
Busy day today. Can't check in again until later. Hope you all have a great day! Good labor vibes going out to Littlebear and Suzanne! (By the way, I just remembered that nipple stimulation can help to bring on labor, but it turns out the study was based on 2 hours a day of nipple stimulation). So, if you're uncomfortable enough, and you've got the time , and/or dh and the neighbors can pitch in to help get you up to 2 hours or more, perhaps give it a try. Hello Christina!Oh, on the movement front, I don't remember. But I'm at 35 weeks now and I've been feeling daily (sometimes intense) movement for months now. Regards, LizzyD

Morning Everyone!!
TGIF!!! MadameX...I felt my her about week 17 only because I recognized the feeling from my first pregnancy. As for consistently? About week 22....I have even noticed a pattern of activity for her at this point. Usually it surrounds before/after meals and now at times I can literally feel the difference between her just moving and her completely turning. I told my hubby, sometimes it's the most awesome feeling...and at other times I feel alien-like knowing there's another being growing in my taking over my mid-region. I'm so glad the weekend is here...and yes metroames, the weeks are just flying by!! I get to see my ex-husband when I pick up my son and beg, yet again, for him to go through his storage so I can get the baby items, including the crib. He used to be so punctual about these things. I did find bumper pads sold seperately at babiesrus.com...duhhh, it was right in front of me!! And shockingly found one that is lilac based vs. pink so I'm extremely thrilled. I am simply ready to get things in order as I know with holidays, work and the end of this pregnancy....I'll be unmotivated later. We literally are switching our room with our extra bedroom due to it not being able to accomodate both that bed and the crib without much room left. But my hubby figures why start moving until we get the crib to put in place...LOL...slacker!! Hope you all have a great weekend....dunno what we're doing yet. I'm sure it'll include a lot of Gamecube time for my son. |

What did you guys think of the breastfeeding article that was posted yesterday?
Sort of depressing. However, I am one of those women who believe that you don't need to eat more during breastfeeding. Perhaps i will find that not to be true, but i still plan to "diet" and try to breastfeed. From the studies i have read women in third world countries can still breastfeed and produce good milk. I am not going to use breastfeeding as an excuse to eat more. I know if i eat more, i won't lose weight.................. It seemed that was the consensus of the study that women who breastfed lost less weight because they were eating more........ Well, duh, we all know that what we eat matters......... I didn't like the part about the arm fat though, my arms are fat enough!!!!!!!!! Well anyway it will be interesting to see how i do with dieting and breastfeeding. Maybe i will write my own study Check in with you all later.

Morning, gals..
little bear.. my friend with the 3 month old is already back to pre-baby weight, and got there pretty quickly. She told me it was a combination of the bf'ing (she told me it burns something like 500 extra cals a day?) plus the fact that she was TOO BUSY TO EAT! LOL... Can we do induction while bf'ing? Kelley, are pg women supposed to get it? I haven't gotten one in years. I was planning to avoid it, but if I need it... Ames, I'm so glad m/s has gone away for you! Martha, I'm feeling the same way... nausea has diminished greatly. It hits once in a while, but not right when I wake up like it used to. My breasts don't hurt as much, either, but they never really hurt alot to begin with - an advantage to not having much there to hurt, I guess . They still hurt when a dog steps on them.. but that's kind of expected. The biggest change for me in the past week is my waist has really grown.Had pizza for dinner last night. Mmmmm.. it was SO good. We went to the pizzaria and just ordered a slice each. Much better that way.. no leftovers! Feeling pretty bloated today, though! Hubby should be re-inducting as we speak, and with my m/s better, I hope to eat better, too. Tomorrow, I'm going to a baptism, then have plans to go clothes shopping with my pg friend after that. I need shorts desperately. I thought I had saved all my size 14 & 16 clothes... a search last night turns up that I donated ALL of them! UGH! How could I have been so stupid!?! So, none of my shorts fit now. Well, they fit, but I can't eat anything.. my tummy pops out when I eat. |

Good morning! Thanks for all the welcome wishes.
Not much to report here. I'm a little tired and my low back and hips are sore but that seems to be routine now. I have to take my 6 year old DS to the dr for allergy testing this afternoon and I'm not looking forward to it. The dr made it sound like it wouldn't be too bad but I am worried that DS will get upset. He's been very sensitive lately. On the movement question, I felt flutters around 13 weeks and daily movement by 15 or 16 weeks. I think I'm hyper sensitive to feeling it though because most people I know say that they didn't feel the baby that early. I had the same experience with DS. I don't know about the flu shot. I am planning on asking my dr about it when I go in for my checkup next week. I work from home so I'm not around that many people but DH is a firefighter and is around sick people a lot and DS is in public school so either of them are likely to bring germs home to me. I need to check and see if DS should have the shot too. I'm not going to breastfeed. I tried it with DS and it just didn't work out. He wouldn't latch on despite all efforts made with the lactation consultant and nurse and he and I were both really unhappy. DH and I decided that we are not going through that again. Several of my friends breastfed though and there didn't seem to be any correlation between breastfeeding and losing weight for them. |

Hello all!
This will be the last time I post for a week. DH & I are going on our last no-child vacation. We're going on a week long cruise. It's supposed to be an Eastern route, but I'm thinking it'll end up being a mystery cruise due to all the storm activity. Anywhere we end up will be fun though! I started feeling little flutters at around week 14. They weren't consistant, so I was chalking them up to gas. Looking back now I know they were movement. Just this past Friday, baby started doing LARGE movents. Feels like she's doing loop-de-loops in there. Yesterday morning I had a 2 hour meeting and she was looping around so much I had to stand for a good portion. She was making me feel sea-sick! Hope everyone is doing OK and for our mommies that are trying to clean up after Ivan.Dierdre |

I ask about the flu shot because most docs recommend it, especially to PG women, but I have heard the vaccine contains thimerosol (mercury), and I don't want to expose my baby to that. Also, the nose drops contain LIVE virus, but the shot contains inactivated, dead virus. That's the one we're supposed to get. I get the flu shot every year but have never gotten the flu. I do fly a lot...I'm conflicted! EEK!

Morning ladies!!
Well DH was up last night throwing up and running a fever. Poor guy. However this morning he was up and feeling fine and went to work. I'm scared I'll get whatever he had. I don't want to run a fever while pregnant. What do you do if you get one??? Ames: Hi!! Martha: Ugh! I'm sorry about your dryer! I desperately want a new washer and dryer but man, are they expensive! Kelley: I started to feel the baby move around 20 weeks. I had wondered if I felt it earlier but knew for sure by 20 weeks what I was feeling. I don't remember when I started feeling it consistently. I know DH started to be able to feel it at about 25 weeks. Lizzy: 2 hours of nipple stimulation?! Holy cow!!! DFL: I'm glad you found the bumper bad! Babies R Us is the BEST store!!! littlebear: I'm praying that BFing helps me lose weight. I guess we'll see. I don't think you should deny yourself food if you are hungry, but it shouldn't be an excuse to go hog wild. Dar: Mmmmm, pizza sounds good!! Christina: I hope your DS does okay on his allergy testing! Dierdre: How fun!! Have a great time!!! Smiley: Hi there!! ![]() |

Good morning ladies...seems everyone is doing well and staying busy!!
I started Atkins the day after I had my 6-week checkup with son. I breastfred him until he was 8 months old...and during this time I did induction. There were studies from different women on the board at the time (I don't know if they are still here or not), that would test their breast milk on Ketostix to make sure that even they were in ketosis it wasn't in their milk supply...and it turned out it wasn't! The only time they got any kind of reading that there was something different about it was after they exercised...which is normal...and alot of books will suggest nursing your baby right before you exercise and then pumping (before exercising)or giving the baby a formula for up to 2 hours after you stopped exercising. I also began running after my 6 week check up, and that was the only time son made wierd faces (like it was sour) if I tried to nurse him right after I ran. Personally, I will probably only wait 2 weeks this time (to get my milk supply regulated) to began induction again. Since I had already been breastfeeding my son for six weeks when I started Atkins, I think I would have noticed any decreasment in my milk supply....and there was none. My son is a very happy and healthy 14 month old now!!! So I feel completely safe doing this! I didn't get the flu shot with my last two pregnancies, and don't plan on it this time either. I have a really good doctor and he is really into "warning" but letting the patients decide! I felt baby begin to move somewhere between 14-15 weeks...but they really start moving ALOT around 20 wks!! Hope you all have a good day. I'll be back later to talk some more! |

Hi Ladies!
I hope you are all having a good Friday - looks like a lot of you are extra busy! I am so overwhelmed at the thought of registering - but my 1st shower will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving (very early because of flying and such...) and my Mom said people are already asking her where we are registered. I signed up online to Babies R Us, but the thought of going in there...its like the Home Depot of baby stuff. Do any of you have any helpful suggestions? Any good check lists? Sarah - I would think that you could take tylenol if you got a fever - but probably very little else. My cousin is 12 weeks along and she got a virus thing last week. She ended up in the hospital with dehydration - so be sure to drink lots - just in case you do catch whatever DH has/had!! Flu Shot - Never had one, so I had better talk to the doc. Do you guys find it funny that it seems every doc says different things? Like my cousin's doc told her ABSOLUTELY NO caffeine and my doc says I can have a little each day - but not to overdo it. Then, my doc told me to watch how many tums I consume and her doc told her take as many as she wants...whatever... Madame - I haven't felt the baby yet - as far as I know - but I have had some weird sensations. Its hard to tell if its the baby moving or my uterus stretching - or even gas. I can't wait to KNOW its the baby, though! Keep us updated, I want to know when you feel yours! I'll check in later!!

Okey Dokey, I have all kinds of questions today!
I just read an article about how many more babies are born during the full moon (whether its their due date or not!) I actuall looked up the luanr cycle for Feb 2005 and it looks like I will be due during the new moon. You can check yours: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/MoonPhase.html#y2005 I guess it doesn't mean much (my new moon due date), since the theory is women can go into labor early during the full moon. I'm most worried about the hospital being crowded! Kelley

Hi mommies-
I feel so bad since I haven't had time to come on here lately due to training my replacement. I just hope everyone is doing well. I had my doctors appointment this morning and it did not go to well. My BP is elevated (144/94)- and I am having some swelling. The nurse was a little concerned and made me give blood.- (UGH). But I feel good so I am not going to worry. The good news I didn't gain any weight - so that's good. (20 pound gain and holding- I don't want to gain any more!!!). They went over some stuff for my surgery - they said I will be in the hospital for 4 days due to c-section and getting my tubes done- SO I should be home Saturday OCT 2. The hospital has set another strike day will be OCt 4th- so I should be home and not have to worry about it- Jenn- Registering is the fun part!!!!! You will enjoy it! Kelley- I felt first movements around 17 weeks and consistant movements around 19 weeks. Have a good Friday!

1. Get the book "Baby Bargains" 2. Use the list they give you at Babies R Us 3. Look at a friend's registry She did all three of these to come up with a registry she liked.. of course her DH was running around the store with the gun picking everything! I think my DH will be the same way. |

Well, today was the last day of work for me. I hated saying goodbye to my little 4th graders.
Things worked out with the high strung godmother. She got my email said she totally understood, so that is a huge weight lifted. Well, now i just sit and wait for this baby to come out. I would just be happy if he weren't late. I know my due date is accurate, because i know the day he was concieved, so if he is overdue, it is just because he likes it to much inside ![]() |
