Good morning ladies!

Well, Ivan hit near Gulf Shores, Alabama a few hours ago.

It is my night off and I'm doing laundry and making my sweetie homemade bread. That store bought stuff was making me sick to my stomach every time I opened the cupboard, because of the smell. I also felt bad that he's had to eat that crappy stuff since I've been so sick. So I'm making 6 loaves tonight and will put 5 in the freezer. I'll probably making more next week on my night off too so he doesn't run out. I've got to say homemade bread does smell delightful!

I'm also gonna have to start deep cleaning this house too. When I took my loaf pans out of the cupboard there was a dead spider in there! That's how long it's been since I've cooked....the bugs are taking over! Unfortunately, I don't have many days off because I'm the relief meteorologist (therefore I work more days in the summer) and we've got a buttload of overtime to cover for the next few months until the new hires are trained in. I guess I'll just have to do a little at a time and hope my husband pitches in more. He has been doing a good job keeping the bathrooms clean and keeping up on the laundry and dishes, but the rest of the house has gone to pot. Oh well, I know he is trying hard.

Well, everyone have a nice day! I'll check back later!

Oh, for whoever asked about heartburn....

It feels like a ball of fire in the pack of your throat that won't go away. I also get indigestion when I have heartburn....so it's like a volcano with fire splashing up in my throat....not fun.

Morning Ladies!

Well, hubby made it home last night....so no big bed for me, but I did sleep rather well for a change. Woke at 4am to potty and let the pup out and saw that our water was high, but not flooding! So I was happy...yet disappointed I have to go to work today Was hoping for a day of quiet. At least it'll be breezy and cooler...not to mention I'm shocked it's Thursday already!!

Wondering if any of you know a place that you can buy crib items seperately (vs. the 4, 6, 8-piece sets). I basically only need bumper pads and since this lil one will share a room for a year with her older brother...don't want to "girl up" his room.

Morning Ladies!!

Amy, do you know if Ivan will send any rain to NC? We were going to go up there Saturday for a football game, but didn't know if it would be raining from Georgia all the way up to NC.

So..............yesterday was my first u/s. I was nervous, but baby was there and it's heart was beating fine. DH got to see it this time. He didn't go last time I was pregnant.

I am 7 weeks 2 days with a due date of 5/3/05. I suppose in a few more weeks, I will have the courage to be added back to the list.......but not yet.

My doctor was looking at a cyst on my ovary. She said it was a good looking cyst and that meant that my body was producing progesterone. She gave me some reason why I have a cyst and why it is a good thing. I guess they don't occur with every pregnancy OR we didn't feel the need to look for it last time. I'm having difficulty finding information about it on the net.

She said that she felt like I would be okay with my levels, but went ahead and ordered the blood test just in case....she said it was more for her sanity than mine. Some of you know, some don't, but my doctor has three children and she miscarried between the second and the last one.

She said she didn't need to do the standard blood tests again since we did them in May. She also said she wouldn't make me wait four weeks like last time, so I am going back in two weeks to check things out. She was as glad as I was that I had been feeling sick.

Well, we passed the first big hurdle. Now, I need to get through the next 4 - 6 weeks, and I will probably gain a little more confidence.

Thanks for getting me through the first two weeks!!!

Baby dust to our TTCers and crossing my fingers for our mommies who are due now!!!

Hi GoJackets

Looks like bad news for the Carolinas this weekend. There is a pretty strong high pressure building into the midwest that will keep the remnant of Ivan to the south for a few days. Here is a snapshot of what my model of choice shows for Saturday morning:

Morning Mommies -

Ames, thanks for the update, sorry about the cleaning ahead. Homemade bread sounds heavenly. The smell is almost better than the actual taste

DespFl, you might try a consignment or 2nd hand shop. They're likely to have sets that have been broken up. Or, even if you have to buy a whole set and just use the bumper pads it'l be a fraction of the new price.

GoJackets, I'm so glad you had a good u/s appointment. Your doctor sounds really great! I'm crossing my fingers for you to get throught the next few weeks.

Martha, aren't midwives great! Glad you're having a good experience with yours. Doulas can be fantastic too, especially if you want some continuity of staff through the whole process. You can even hire them to go with you to some of your appointments before the birth, and to stay with you post partum to help with nursing, bathing, cooking, laundry, cleaning, you name it. Whatever the Mom needs.

Still thinking about Suzanne and Littlebear - good luck to both of you!!

Hello to all the other mommies out there and the TTC'rs.

Regards,
LizzyD

Boy are you right about that! I can sit there and smell it all day, but I'm not tempted in the least bit to eat it. The only bread I make that I am tempted to eat is my onion bread. It's a recipe I came up with myself and it is to die for, I must say! My mother-in-law will have me make 10 loaves at a time for her, because she loves it so much too!

Morning, ladies!

Dena, glad to hear you had a good u/s! Did they give you any pictures?

Martha, also glad to hear your midwife appt. went well! We're still about a week apart!

I went home early yesterday.. with all the commotion at the office... different chemical smells, and then my heartburn added in, I couldn't take it. I got home, took some of hubby's Tums and felt SO much better in 5 minutes. That stuff is magic!

I told everyone at the dog school where I train and work p/t about the baby yesterday. They were all very excited, some were shocked.

Feeling super fat today. The slacks I'm wearing used to have lots of room in the hips.. they don't today. At least my m/s seems to get better everyday, and perhaps I can get back to a lower carb diet in a couple weeks, instead of all this junky crap I've had to eat lately to keep my tummy happy. Maybe then I won't gain weight so fast.

Hubby wants to re-induct (he's gone from 230 to 238).. but wants to have a carb feast beforehand. I think we're having pizza for dinner. ... drool ....

Hi everyone...

Well, here I am at 12 dpo. My luteal phase is always 9-10 days and the minor symptoms (lots of CM, porn star nipples, etc) continue. I really don't know what to think. I took an Equate test this morning and it was negative but it may be too early to get a positive. (Last time I got a very faint pos at 16 dpo) *sigh* If I didn't hate blood tests so much I would just go get one!!

Ames, that's quite a weather chart! Looks like NC is going to get it pretty bad. Hopefully it will simmer down by Virginia.

DespInFL: Glad it's not too bad for you -- *sorry* you didn't get to stretch out last night

GoJackets: I'm SO GLAD your appointment went well. That must have been a huge relief. So good DH could be there too! Did they give you any photos?

Hi LizzyD!!

Dar20: (homer simpson voice Mmmmmmmmm Piiiiiiiiiiiiza.

Greetings to everyone I missed. Suzanne & LittleBear -- thinking about you guys!!

((hugs))

Meg

I did get a picture. It's very unclear, but I know what it is. I guess it measured about 1cm. Hard to believe you can sit there and watch a heart beat of something sooooo tiny!!!!!

What are you ladies doing for snacks. I am miserable when I am not eating. I feel great when I am eating, so I have to find stuff that is not going to fatten me up so quickly.

Any suggestions?

Miss Gigl ~ I'm crossing my fingers for you sweet heart!! Please!!

Thanks Darlene and Lizzyd!!!

Snacks! All my meals are snacks! I can't eat very much at a time, otherwise I get indigestion and/or heartburn. Here is an example of what I eat a day:

Potato, small glass of milk
Granola bar
Taco salad (2 cups lettuce, 2oz taco meat, sprinkle of cheese, and a glob of sour cream)
Large bowl of strawberries dipped in cream
Another taco salad
Large glass of milk when I get home from work
Another potato and another small glass of milk
I nibble on about a 1/4-1/3 cup mixed nuts or peanuts through the night.

That's pretty much what I've eaten the last 6 weeks and I only gained 2 pounds from my last prenatal visit! Hope that gives you a few ideas....several not low carb, but you get the idea.

Amy, that's awesome! Only 2 pounds! Didn't you gain a bunch at first and were really worried? I've gained 7 pounds so far, and I'm very worried about it. All I can eat in the am is carb food. I don't really eat alot of calories.. I've been tracking into FitDay. I'm averaging about 1700-1900 cals per day. Less than what's recommended, and I'm still gaining. (I'm not limiting it.. but carb-y food just has less calories.. I just can't eat more!)

I'm trying not to stress, but it gets on my nerves. I KNOW I'm not supposed to stress.. but it's like a double whammy.. gaining weight due to pregnancy and gaining weight due to 'carb binging'.

I wish I could help you with the snacks, Dena. I don't have much advice.. I'm still trying to figure it out myself. Triscuits with cheese held me for a while, but I haven't been able to eat it in a few days. Funny thing.. I used to make 'Triscuit pizzas' all the time as an after school snack when I was younger.. Triscuits with some pizza sauce and mozzarella, nuke until melted. I haven't had them in years, and I actually made them the other day. It just sounded SO good!

I threw the carb thing out the window and just eat what I can get my hands on..... Got to get that back under control.....

Finally found something on my cyst......

Corpus Luteum Cyst of Pregnancy

by Marjorie Greenfield, M.D.
reviewed and revised by Marjorie Greenfield, M.D.
Many women go for a routine ultrasound or pelvic examination early in their pregnancy and come away with the surprise finding of an ovarian cyst. Usually, this cyst comes from the corpus luteum. After an egg is released from the ovary, the corpus luteum is responsible for making the hormone progesterone. It is this hormone that prepares the uterus for pregnancy.

A typical corpus luteum is round and fluid-filled and can range in size from less than two centimeters (about an inch) to six centimeters or more. On ultrasound, a fluid-filled (cystic) structure greater than three centimeters is technically classified as an ovarian cyst, even though it may well represent a normal finding.

Ovarian cysts usually don't cause any symptoms. In fact, corpus luteum cysts appear toward the end of the menstrual cycle, last into early pregnancy, and then usually resolve over a period of time without any special treatment.

What is corpus luteum cyst ?

After a woman ovulates, a yellowish body of cells is formed on the ovary. This is called the corpus luteum. It disappears 14 days after it is formed, during the woman’s next period. It produces the estrogen and progesterone hormones. When the woman conceives, the corpus luteum does not disappear because there has been no menstruation. The corpus luteum is sustained by the hCG hormone (generated by cells that form the placenta) during pregnancy. The corpus luteum becomes necessary in a pregnancy because it grows to support and nourish the new pregnancy until the placenta takes over.

Geeze ladies - it's only 9:30 and you guys are really chatty!

Ames ~ Mmmmm...home made bread. Send some over here!! Sorry you are so busy at work - or maybe you don't mind...

DespInFL ~ Glad you got a good nights sleep!

Dena ~ I am SO happy your u/s went well. And, your doctor seems great. You are very lucky. You got yourself through these past few weeks - you are a strong woman!! Can't wait till we see your name up there!

lizzy ~ Hi! And continuted from yesterday, and my mom. I don't even think sitting down and having a discussion with her would change her mind. I know she wouldn't approve of us trying. She will be happy in the long run - but initially I think she will be more sad and upset.

Darlene ~ Glad you decided to go home early yesterday - gotta do what is best for you and your little bean! About the feeling fat. Yuck!

Miss Gigl ~ Sorry the test came out negative. There is still a chance though, right? You have a lot of symptoms...maybe it is still just too early. I am having a hard time wanting to wait. I am due for TOM a week from tomorrow, but the fact that I don't "feel anything" is scaring me.

Hi everyone else who comes in later!

I don't want to give you any false hope, but not feeling anything was how I figured I was pregnant. It was a reduction in my normal PMS symptoms that caused me to question if I was pregnant. I have VERY strong PMS symptoms, so it was obvious to me.

Yeah, I gained 5 pounds before I even got pregnant just because I raised my carbs from 30-40 total to near 100....too much for my system I guess. Anyway between my first and second prenatal appointments I had gained a whopping 10 pounds! Because all I was eating was peanut butter sandwhiches and cereal and milk. I swear bread/grains are my enemy. Anyway, the next month I was still eating a ton of carbs, but was able to get in some more protein and gained 4 pounds that month. The menu above is what I've been eating since and I think that the weight slowed down because I ditched the grains (except for the granola bar). I never counted calories, but I feel like I am eating more now than a few months ago and I'm not throwing anything up either....so I've determined that I gotta leave the grains alone, because they pile on the pounds.

Dena, another thing that's helped me keep my stomach settled, besides the Better Cheddar's are Gingersnaps. The only problem.. all the sugar free varieties don't have real ginger! You have to get the full blown sugary kind with molasses and all. Yeah, they taste great and settle my stomach, but I only eat a couple at a time.

I haven't bothered to check the recipe room for them.. I think I'll go do that...

Good Morning Chatties!

Thank you for the wonderful dinner ideas yesterday. I had to run to the store right before dinner and they had fresh sole so I cooked that for dinner, but I will put your suggestions to good use in the coming week!
I had to bake brownies last night for a workshop I am teaching this weekend, and my finger of course went in the batter and then to my mouth several times before I realized how dumb that was. At first I was worried about the sugar and carbs, but in the middle of the night I woke with indigestion and imagined all kinds of food poisoning symptoms. I feel fine this A.M. What a dummy!

Ames~LOL on the bread baking...I always scream so loud when I find a bug or spider, even if it's dead...ANYWHERE! Good for you on the weight gain. mine has picked up, but I'd better control the pace since I still have more than halfway to go in this PGCY!

Dar~My hubby has gained about 7-8 pounds too, right along with me! I love those Triscuit nachos with salsa and melted cheese. I just nuke'em too.

Desp~Target has the individual crib components you can buy. They have a really cute pattern called "Annie's Farm" (or someone's farm) that is so cute. You can mix and match and its not too frilly or anything.

Dena~I was going to tell you the same thing about the corpus luteum cyst. It's a good thing, means you had a good egg produced and you body is doing what it needs to to sustain the pregnancy! I'm so glad you had a good appointment, and YAY on the nice, strong heartbeat! I'm glad your DH got to go with you this time. It's so much more real to guys when they can see the u/s I think!

Lizzy~I'm still waiting for the doula website lady to get back to me. It sounds like something I want to pursue.

Smiley~I would say that no symptoms is not a bad sign! I had no symptoms either. The cramps didn't set in till AF should have been due.

Meg~I tested negative at 11 and 12 DPO. So, I had wine, a Manhattan, and went on a rollercoaster. 14 DPO no AF. 16 DPO (we were on a trip) I bought a test and it was +++!

Martha~I'm so glad your midwife appt. went better. That's great that they moved your due date up! Your babe must be big!

Suzanne and LittleBear~ Labor vibes to you!

Kelley

Good morning ladies!! Happy Thursday!

Well, I'm getting up 4 times a night now... every 2 hours. Argh!! I remember when I felt like twice a night was bad! I guess this baby must really be squishing my bladder. Otherwise, I'm feeling good.

It's so funny... the bigger my belly gets, the more DH loves it. He can't keep his hands on it and this morning told me that he wishes I could be pregnant forever. Um... no. He's cute.

Ames: Pineapple is a natural heartburn reliever. You could try that to help soothe. Heartburn is the worst!!

DFL: Ebay, ebay, ebay!! You can find tons of separate crib items for great prices!!

Dena: I'm SO glad that your u/s went well!! It sounds like your doc is really making sure that everything is going well. I'm so happy about that. I'm also glad that your DH got to see the ultrasound!! I'm praying for this little baby to stick!!

Continuing on... sorry, my post all of a sudden posted!

Lizzy: Hi!!

Dar: I'm glad the Tums wored for you! And how fun telling people about your pregnancy! I loved that!!

Meg: I'm sorry about the negative test, but maybe in a few days you'll get a postive one. I'm praying for your health either way.

Smiley: Don't be worried. Everyone is so different. Where I felt bad immediately, my best friend never even felt a twinge of pregnancy until she was well into her 2nd trimester. It's just so different.

Kelley: Man, brownies sounds GOOD!!! Yummy!!
