Wow, have I had a stressful night at work.....computer problems like you wouldn't believe! I'm thankful now I went ahead and took my nausia medicine last night after going 48 hours without it. I felt pretty nausious, but I wasn't dry heaving like the other day...but my husband thought that I'd better take some. Boy if I looked rough last night, I can't imagine what I looked like the other night! Well, I guess if I can go every other day for a while at least I'll be making progress....

I just have to say I am so sorry about your birthing experience Laprettygurl. It makes me so mad about the pacifier thing. Here breastfeeding is the best thing for our littles ones and is now becoming popular again, and then the dang nurses give the babies bottles of water in the nursery and pacifiers that just make it that much harder for them to learn to latch! My husband and I are going to try and get a hospital tour since we aren't going to be able to sign up for the birthing classes so we can learn about all their policies and such. My number one question is about whether they give bottles and pacifiers and if there is a way you can request that they don't!

Ok, I've been in rant mode all night so I won't keep going, LOL! My co-workers must have thought I was nuts, but they knew my pain, because they've had the same problems before. Ah well, I'll go home soon and vent everything to my sweetie and then I'll feel better!

Morning Amy! Glad you weren't heaving! I hope it is a sign of things to come!

I am doing pretty good. I have pretty much the same symptoms as my last pregnancy. My boobs are sore (been sleeping with my bra on), I am tired (been taking naps), teary eyed, don't have much of an appetite and the only thing different this time is that my mouth is constantly watering.

My first appointment is September 15th. I will be about 7 1/2 weeks at that time.

I am not really excited yet, but pretty calm. Trying to laugh alot and not get stressed out about stupid stuff. I get a nagging sensation in my abdomen.....more of an ache than a pain. As long as I don't see blood, I am not going to panic!!

I hope the new mommies are doing well and hope to see more pictures soon!!!

Morning, ladies.. welcome to another week. Ugh.. back to work.

Still puke free here, but nausea came back this morning. Sorry, Amy, I don't mean to gloat. Perhaps work makes me feel ill? LOL... anyways, it probably didn't help that my dogs kept me up 1/2 the night. My older dog swears she heard things all night and had to bark at them. The puppy had a sneezing fit at midnight which, while hilarious, had us worried.

I made the picture frames that we are sending the u/s to our families in this weekend. I think they turned out well. I probably overdid it.. it's not like they'll care what's on the frame, more about the picture! But, I like them. Definitely cheaper than buying the pre-made ones. And more personal.

Well, probably a slow day at work today. We dropped the project I was working on, and there's nothing else to work on right now. I'm probably be back here a few times today.

Ultrasound is scheduled for Wednesday, and I'm so looking forward to it.

GoJackets, I'm glad to hear you are working on staying relaxed. I'm trying to do the same thing. I just pray I get through another day. But I'm still paranoid. I had aches for about a week after our + test. Implantation, maybe?

For the past few days, my stomach muscles have felt sore. Right below my rib cage. I don't recall doing anything that could have possibly strained them. It's very weird. Not down near my abdomen at all, but up higher. Strange.

Laprettygurl, so sorry to hear about your crappy experience. Perhaps it's good you don't remember some things? Ok, kidding. How frustrating for you. Did you have any reservations about the hospital where you delivered? Or did you not have a choice in the matter? My ob only delivers at 1 hospital, but it's the one I would have chosen, anyways. I've only heard good things about it, and know 3 girls personally who had wonderful experiences there. So, I'm not too concerned. 2/3 of the girls breastfeed, and they had that baby on them as soon as possible. Even when one of the girls had preeclampsia, they wanted that baby with her whenever she was calm enough to try.. and she was very early and c-section. It took some time, but they got it figured out with help.

Anyways, happy Monday everyone!

Good morning mommies-

The weekend was good. I didn't do much really- SO it was pretty
easy going. I even got to take a nap yesterday afternoon!!!

Pauline- Thanks for sharing your birthstory. I hope that Cassidy latchs on soon.

Sarah (SH)- so sorry about the bedrest. I can't imagine what a pain that would be with two small childern.

Shandril- Sorry about DH grandmother. Hope you get a bit on your house soon.

Sarah- on the $130 you made at your yard sale- that's great!

Suzanne- Hope MIL get her condo soon- LOL!

DSFL- I couldn't bf last time never got milk in. I told everyone I will try again this time but I will not torture my baby if I don't see him satified. I used Similiac - it is expensive but I purchased the ready made kin d and the conveinince of not having to mix the formula far outweighted the price to me- I think that most of them are very similiar and any would be fine unless your baby would have an allergy.

GoJackets- That is good you are trying to stay relexed. Your attitude it wonderful

Hi Dar!

Good morning ladies! I can't believe it's Monday already! Where does the weekend go??

I had a pretty good weekend overall. Sleep was my only issue. I had to get up early on Saturday for the yard sale, so I didn't get a lot of sleep. I took a half hour nap when I got home from that. Then, Saturday night I couldn't sleep. It was horrible. I was really uncomfortable and every time that I tried to find a comfortable position I had to get up to go to the bathroom. I think the baby was really low or something. It was not fun. So, Sunday I took it easy. We didn't do much. I took a 2 hour nap during the day and then slept really good last night, so I feel much better. The baby is moving around a lot today. It's amazing how much bigger he feels. I did hit one yard sale this weekend and got a bunch of clothes. I love finding that stuff!

I'm starting to feel more and more worn out. I feel completely winded and worn out just from climbing our stairs.

supportinghubby: I'm sorry, I have such preggo brain. I knew that you were on bedrest. It just slipped my mind. I'm sorry you are bleeding. I hope that it gets better.

Amy: I'm sorry about the stressful night. I'm glad you are able to take your medicine less though.

GoJ: I'm happy things are still going well, that's great news! You are in my prayers everyday!

Dar: The picture frames are a great idea!!

Kristen: I'm glad you had a good weekend! Restful ones are the best!!

Happy Monday Everyone ~

First off - Congrats Wari!! Can't wait to see pictures!!

GoJackets ~ Glad you are taking it easy and staying calm. It's funny - I get that nervous feeling in my tummy - not a pain but defininitly something - when I think about ttc as early as next week!! Happy and scared all at the same time. Maybe having your appt soon will make you feel at little better?

Metroames ~ I hope you feel better soon. Geeze, you are scaring me about m/s!! Seriously, feel better.

Dar ~ Those frames sound so cute!! Can you take a picture of them?? I am constantly thinking about how to tell my family - well, at least my DH's family since I am terrified to tell my family.

MrsSarah ~ Congrats on the $130.00!! That is awesome. It must be so nice to feel the baby move. I can't wait!!

Hi to everone else I have missed!!

Morning Mommies,

Pauline, I am so proud of you going totally natural. I think you and Jefinner are the only two moms to do it that way and it gives me so much hope. Sorry the hospital experience was so bad. I hope you can get Cassidy latched on again soon. It was so frustrating with Max for the first ten days but we finally figured it out.

Trolly, you´re next on the list!!!! OMG, I am second!

Ames, glad to hear you are feeling a little better. Progress is better than nothing.

GoJackets, I know how you feel about not getting excited. Getting pregnant so soon after a miscarriage put a damper on my excitement this time around. But you´ll get there!

Hi Dar, congratulations on being puke free!

Kristen, wtg on the nap. I tried but had acid reflux...

Sarah, has your doctor checked our iron levels? Sorry to hear you are so tired.

Hi Smiley!

MIL is driving me nuts. Yesterday DH took her to Sam´s club and she bought a pack of 3 huge baguettes (white bread), a pack of 24 rolls (white bread), and a dozen bagels (white bread). I can´t wait to move her and her junk food to their own condo. My weight gain has pretty much leveled off at 37 lbs and I really hate looking at all that cr@p in my kitchen not to mention watching her feed it to my family. She has never once complimented her son on losing almost 50 lbs on this woe.

I´ll check back in the afternoon.

Saludos,

Suz

Hi all!!

Suzanne, don't worry about the weight gain! I ended up gaining 27 lbs and all of it was gone as of yesterday. I am back in my old clothes (Actually wore some of them out of the hospital! Jeans I might add) Even though things fit a bit differently now it's all good. The only thing is the clothes I really want to wear don't fit right...you know, the cute sexy stuff. *sigh* I guess it'll be jeans and sweaters for a bit.

Dar20, I didn't even want to go to a hospital for the birth, I wanted to be at home. There weren't any midwives available for August so I was stuck with an OB.

Hi everyone! I posted in the Main Lobby today, but Dar20 directed me over to your thread here.

Here is my post....

Quote:
My DH and I are TTC as of this weekend. I had been waiting forever for him to come around and he FINALLY did! I am beyond excited!
My husband and I have begun trying to conceive and I have some concerns about eating a low carb diet during this time while we attempt to get pregnant. What changes to your diet did you make when you became or started to try to get pregnant? I don't want to go back to the way that I had been eating, but I am concerned about the amount of nutrients (esp calcium) that I am getting.

Does anyone have any advice for me? I know that if I go to my doctor, she is going to tell me to move to a more balanced kind of eating (probably low fat/cal...yuck).

Thank you so much for any help!
I am so excited and nervous and need any help that I can get!!!

Oh yah...and cross your fingers for us! I ovulate soon!
I am SO excited and I can't tell anyone...it's killing me!!!!! Thank god I have the ability to talk to someone here!!

Suzanne: When the doc drew my blood for the glucose test they told me that I wasn't anemic, so I'm guessing my iron is okay. Are you guys not feeling tired??

Pauline: Thank you for posting your birth story! I'm sorry it was rough for you, but I'm so happy your baby is here!! I hope the breastfeeding thing gets easier.

From what I remember, a lot of ladies were able to conceive BECAUSE of low carbing.

You should schedule your prenatal appointment. You will need to give them a full history. Your doctor will give you a prescription or refer you to a brand of prenatal vitamins. Either way, you will need to take your vitamins. That will be the key while you TTC. As far as diet, I think there are many varieties. I asked my doctor about low carbing while pregnant and she said it was fine as long as she could tell the baby was growing.

I don't have too much to offer. This is my second pregnancy. I lost the first one a few months ago. So, I don't know much past 10 weeks! But there are a lot of experienced helpful mommies and mommies-to-be on this board.

Jump right in!

SmileyAmy - have you been watching for ovulation signs? What method have you decided to use to determine when you are fertile? I've got my fingers crossed!

Welcome and Good Luck!! DH and I are going to start TTC next week. It's TOM for me so when it is over, we will officially start!

I am so happy this place is here too because no one in my family knows that we are ttc and it is nice to have people to chat with. Makes me more excited!!

These girls are SO helpful...ask away. I am still new at it so, I will help when I can. I guess we will be learning together!

Hi Jehceka! I started eating fruit and whole grains when we started TTC. I was already eating a lot of yogurt (homemade with Hood's Carbcountdown milk) and I also took a calcium supplement. Make sure you start taking Folic Acid...that is the most important when TTC. My carbs were about 80-100 total (not net).....but just a warning...after a month of eating this high amount of carbs I packed on 5 pounds, so if you're sensitive you might not want to raise them that high. I think the key is to get out of ketosis, only because there isn't studies done on if the ketones are passed to the baby or not.

Once you get pregnant the whole low carb thing might go out the window for a while if you get food aversions and/or morning sickness, so be prepared. I'm doing better now, but I couldn't stomach any meat for several weeks and lived on peanut butter and starches and packed on 10 pounds in a month even though I was throwing up a lot! I was determined to keep fairly low carb the whole pregnancy and I just couldn't do it and beat myself up over it for quite a while. Slowly, I'm getting back to lower carb, but I still can't manage anything but carbs when I first get up and before I go to bed. Just do what you need to get through and don't beat yourself up like I did, ok?

Hope that helps!

Amy

P.S. - Would you like to be added to the list for TTC?

Well, I am not sure what I am looking for. I know when you ovulate, you have a discharge, but (warning - TMI) I usually have a discharge everyday. I wear a pantyliner constantly because if I don't, my panties get damn and uncomfortable. BUT, when I came off the pill last month, about 15 days after the begin of my TOM, I had a lot of discharge - a lot more than usual. It went on for about a day and then subsided. People here said that I was probably ovulating.

DH and just decided that starting next week (yeah) we will just baby dance as much as possible - although we were told my a friend to only do it every other day - and hope for the best. But, I will be on the lookout for that discharge again in hopes that that will be a fertile day.

I guess if things don't take right away, I will have to read up on charting, etc. But we are crossing our figers that things happen naturally!!

Thanks for crossing your fingers for me - I am for you too!

A bit of my story....

According to ovulation calculators (I've been tracking my TOM/ovulation now for 6 mo), I am ovulating on 9/2. We started ttc on Sat because...well, long story. But we are going to try again from now until 9/3, just to be sure. I definitely know that I am going to ovulate soon because I am feeling very tender in my lower abdomen, which is normal for me during this time.

I have been trying to search on websites to learn more about ovulation, conception, etc, etc. Some seem to be good, but others seem to be more interested in selling opt's. Anyone have any recommendations for any good sites?

My DH is still a little bit nervous and unsure about the timing. God, I hope he doesn't suddenly change his mind. It has taken me a LONG time for him to come around!

I'm almost 26 (Nov), he's almost 28 (Jan) and we've been married for just over 2 years. I've been doing Atkins this time around since Aug 1st and have been majorly discouraged with my progress. I guess it is an easy excuse for me to start eating normal again (due to impending pregnancy) because I haven't been as successful on Atkins this time around. I really want to watch my weight, but be sure that I am healthy for conception and the possible baby. I guess that is why I am here.

Thank you all for welcoming me! I plan to visit here a lot!

GoJackets~ Congratulations! I wish you the best and I will keep you in my thoughts. It is so scary being pregnant after losing a baby and I know the feeling of not wanting to get your hopes up....you will be just fine. Congrats again!

Smiley~ Good luck this month! Maybe we will see some more positives around this board.

As for me, my period just ended and we will have at least one week of rest before its time to TTC. The rest is well deserved

MarriedinSeptember~ Good morning!

jehcekah~ Welcome to the board!

Good morning to all the new mommies and mommies-to-be.

SmileyAmy...we're kind of doing the same thing. No charting.
But I did notice some mucus (sorry if this is also TMI) yesterday, so I hope that is a good sign. It is funny that when we were married in a Catholic church, we had to take a course that went over natural birth control (something that I didn't feel that I needed, since I am not against bc)...but I never thought about using it for ttc!! Now I am trying to remember back to what they tried to teach us!! The whole temperature and mucus thing was what they stressed. We even still have the thermometer that they gave us, though I don't intend on using it until next month if we don't conceive.

PS:
I would love to be added to the ttc list Amy!!! Thanks!

Sorry! One more question...

About prenatal vitamins...do I really need to go to my dr to get a prescription or is there an otc brand that is good?

Well, if you are going to do the happy dance the whole time, then it shouldn't matter. There are some good books out there that take you from conception to delivery.

I monitor my cervical mucus for fertility. Once it looks like "egg whites", then I know that I am fertile. They say the critical days are the ones leading up to ovulation because once you ovulate you only have lieka 12 hour window to conceive. So, don't miss a day, but don't wear hubby out either!!
