Wow, lots of updates for today. Let me know if I missed any!
Welcome to the newbies! Dar20, you asked about a tipped uterus yesterday? I've got one too. The doctor said it wasn't anything to be worried about. I think that mine is uprighting this week. The past few days I've had to pee about every 30 minutes (this is not exaggerating) and I get up about 6 times instead of my usual two from sleeping to go too. My uterus must be pushing on my bladder as it is moving foward. Also, I've been getting some shootting pains between my groin and uterus...I think they must be the round ligament pain? So, I'm sure everything is moving to where it should now....plus I swear my belly has gotten bigger overnight. Good thing I bought some maternity pants, because I think I'll be popping out my 16's any day now! I haven't been able to feel any movements from the baby though, because I think the stretching is masking them the past few days. Oh well, I'm sure I'll be getting kicked good soon enough! ![]() I've got a few days off, so I'm going to attempt to quit the nausia medicine altogether. Wish me luck. I don't want to throw up again! Everyone have a Happy Hump Day! Amy |

Amy...sounds like everything is falling into place (so to speak) for you. Hope going off the meds goes smoothly
Thank you for updating me. The "?" is appropriate LOL...as Suzanne said, I'm afraid this lil one might sprout a peepee on us at the last minute I'm so unsure! Alls well here...baby is sitting on my left side and I can feel the pressure on my stomach a little. I'm starting to wonder if that's due to all the left side laying I do. If so, I need to consciously sleep on my right more. Doc said yesterday that my due date is still reflecting the same so to expect my scheduled CSection for Dec. 26/27...guess they don't want to work XMas either...not that I blame 'em. Hope everyone has a GREAT day!! |

Mandy and all the other newbies! How wonderful!!! We got a fertility monitor and were able to conceive the first month.. I bought mine off of eBay for much cheaper than at the store. Thanks, Amy, for that info. I've known I've had it for a while now, and the doc always told me it would move if I got pregnant. I just can't believe how painful my exam was yesterday, and I feel sore this morning. It was also my first appt. like that with hubby in attendance.. kind of weird, but he was okay with it. Like I said last night, we have our first u/s scheduled for 9/1, and I think we'll spill the beans after that. Hubby felt more comfortable with telling our parents earlier after the doc set his mind at ease. And we'll still be able to tell them in the way we had planned (sending them a copy of the u/s picture.. that is, assuming they let us have one). M/S feels better for me this morning. A bit of a headache, but otherwise not too bad now that I've eaten. I found that Triscuits with cheese are working for me right now. Who knows what will work tomorrow, though. ![]() |

Hi Mommies,
Wendy, I'll be thinking of you all day and sending easy labor thoughts your way. Desp, I used to prefer to lay on my left side until the acid reflux started, now I have to lay on my right side. They say left is better for circulation but I am tired of inhaling stomach acid. Hope you get your girl! Ames, glad to hear you are feeling so much better! Welcome Mandy! Good luck TTC! Dar, you think it was weird having your hubby, you should have been at the first internal my last doctor did--he used a little camera so I could see everything on a monitor but hubby even got to watch him real time, too. That was so weird, even I saw more than I ever wanted to see. We are almost packed and will be heading to civilization in a few hours. I can't believe that I will actually be living in air conditioned comfort for the rest of my pregnancy. Maybe I will start feeling better and loving every minute of my pregnancy like I did last time....I'll probably get a lot of good exercise running down to the internet cafe every hour to see if anyone has delivered. Saludos, Suzanne

Good mornin mommies=
Mandy- Hi- Good luck ttc. Suzanne- Have a safe trip- so glad you can be in the a/c!!! Hi Smilyee- How's your cat? Dar- sounds like you had a good first visit. DFL- Sending you "girl" vibes. Amy- Hoping this is the end of the m/s for you. Not much going on here. I am awaiting my appoinment on Friday I hope we pick my c-section date then. I must say I love knowing I will have a definite end date. Last time my due date came and went and that was the worst - the waiting and waiting and waiting. It was a week later when I finally had Jessica - I don't know how some woman can go 2-3 weeks after the ddates !!

Morning lovelies!
![]() I'm having another tired day today. It started coming on yesterday afternoon. I just feel like I've been hit by a ton of bricks. I took it easy last night and slept well, so hopefully I'll be better today. I just feel worn out. I'm getting more stretchmarks on my tummy. I've been diligent with using my cocoa butter stretchmark cream, but to no avail. I can literally feel when a new one pops up. I feel the burn, look down, and sure enough...there's a new one. Amy: Congrats on everything shifting! I love knowing that there's something going on in there! ![]() DFL: Try and sleep on both sides. It will keep the baby moving around in there. I remember FluffiB posting that she had some problems during delivery because she had always only laid on her left side. Mandy: Welcome!! Congrats on TTC! Dar: I can't wait to hear how it goes when you tell your parents. How exciting! Suzanne: You are going to love the A/C! I'm so happy that you get to spend the last of your pregnancy in comfort! Smiley: Hi!! Kristen: Yes, having a definite end is a wonderful thing. I'm happy that I'll have that too since I'll most likely be induced. ![]() |

Good morning~
Last week none of my favorite LC foods sounded good at all, so I went completley off plan and indulged on foods that I haven't had in several months. To my disappointment, none of tasted very good, well except for M & M's, which I don't need to be eating! I think that was the little break I needed because this week food is sounding much better. I'm tring to eat at least 70 carbs a day and walking 2 miles, I can't wait for fall to arrive, it stinks walking in the heat. Amy-hope you enjoy your days off and you nausea will come to an end! DesperateinFL-We have 2 birthdays in my family on Dec 26! Mandy!Darlene-I think sending the u/s picture is a cute idea. Have you lost a baby, is that why your afraid to tell anybody yet? Suzanne-Hallaluah AC!!!!!!!!!! Man I bet you've been miserable Go enjoy that cool air!Hello to all that follow, have a good day!

Here's where I got the idea for the picture frames.. Under Construction. Instead of paying an arm and a leg for those (and I don't think they're that cute), I'd rather buy some plain frames and make my own - you know, put those scrapbooking skills to work! It's a bit appropriate since I work in construction to use that phrase, but make it a little bit more personal. Amy, I'm so glad to hear Trooper was diagnosed. Hopefully he can recover quickly! Well, I spoke too quickly when I said I put the m/s at bay for the morning. Someone made popcorn in the office, and it smells like burnt popcorn in the whole office now. I tried burning one of my candles to see if it would help. Nope... ![]() Oh, and this is totally off topic, but I changed my first tire last night! Mine was flat so hubby drove me to work. He suggested I try changing it when we got home (with him supervising) so I could give it a whirl. I did it all except he loosened the nuts for me. Fortunately I have a small car = smaller and lighter tires.Last edited by Dar20 : 08-25-2004 at 08:51 AM. |

G'Morning Mommies -
Wendi - Good Luck! Good Luck! Good Luck! Post as soon as you can! Suzanne - good luck with the mini move. Glad to hear you'll be able to log on through the rest of your pregnancy. Any word from your midwife yet? Is she back from the states? What's your back up plan if she doesn't make it in time? Babyblue - I'm with you! My first went 10 days past due date, and after 2 full days of labor at home, plus another 14 hours of pitosin and epidural at the hospital, I was still only 5-6cm. So after all that work, I ended up with a c-section. This time, I go in on October 15 at 8:00am and should be in recovery with the baby before 9:30am. Yeah! Amy - good luck going off the meds! When your tummy pops (and actually looks pregnant) it can seem to happen really fast. DespFl - Good luck setting the c-section date! Welcome to the new Mommies and those TTC! From yesterday's thread - Heather123 - Local midwives, doulas and your chapter of La Leche League are really good places to ask around about who the good OB's are in town. La Leche League encourages women to attend a few meetings before delivery so they can know what to expect and pick up tips before anything becomes too urgent. I would suggest going to a couple of meetings (they're great anyway), and ask the leader(s) and the women attending who they liked during their delivery experiences. As for foods - if you start getting m/s, then just eat whatever you can keep down. Beyond that, I can only tell you what I try to do. I eat plenty of protein and fat. Lots of small meals and snacks. My carbs come almost exclusively from fresh fruits and vegetables (I don't limit those, I even eat corn on the cob if it is fresh picked), except every 2-3 weeks I allow myself a bowl of ice cream (the good stuff like Haagen Daaz or something) or homemade rice pudding. The only sweetener I use is splenda. I have one or two splenda-sweetened, caffeine-free sodas every day. I try to stick with whole foods (the wholer the better, is that a word?), and take my treats in moderation. The only things I will absolutely not allow to pass between my lips are saccharin (sp?) and Aspartame/Nutrasweet. Especially the latter. I think that stuff is poison (and so did Dr. A)! Regards, LizzyD

Morning everybody,
Welcome new mommies and ladies ttc, good luck. Warning: Grouchy pregnant lady rant happening in 3...2...1.... I am having a rough day too. I've been very tired and my tummy has been cramping up. It started last night- I'm not quite sure what it is. It is an ache that runs across my belly and down my abdomen. UGH. It feels like a combination of constipation and gas!! And I've been having some more lower back pain. And I had lovely acid reflex all night last night. It sure burns like crazy and taste like !! I had a horrible nightmare about my dog having her little paw cut off! That was very disturbing. This is one of the worst days I've had so far. I think I'm going to just lay low today- maybe do some laundry and gentle cleaning and then have a nap. Sorry about the whining. Maybe I should go for a swim or something to help relieve the lower back pain... I don't know. It isn't agonizingly painful, just irritatingly uncomfortable.Good luck Wendy.. we are thinking about you!! About the food questions: Like many of the ladies here, I've made it policy, once morning sickness was over, to stick to whole real foods, nothing processed or artificial. Aside from the occasional piece of cake or piece of italian bread, I've been eating fruits and vegetables, full-fat dairy products, meat, legumes, whole grain pastas and breads. It has been the best diet I've ever been on. I've stayed totally away from artificial sweeteners (they just give me a headache anyway) and unpasturized honey. I've been using, if necessary, sugar in the raw as a sweetener, but sparingly. I drink about a cup of organic coffee, which has caffeine, very little, with cream, every morning with breakfast. I've had the occasional craving for cola, I had half a glass of regular coke and it gave me such horrible heartburn that I haven't wanted it since!! Like Lizzy, I've allowed myself good, full-fat icecream like Haagan Daaz!! Yummy!! My staple breakfast and lunches have been cottage cheese or full-fat yougurt with fresh fruit! I've gained about twelve pounds and I'm about 36 weeks along, so I think this diet has been really good for me. Oh, and I gained all my weight in the first trimester basically. I've just been losing weight for the last month or so! I'll check back later today when I'm less grumpy!! Thanks for bearing with me everybody Nicole |

Bad news ladies.
I haven't even missed a dose of meds yet, but threw up after trying to brush my teeth. I usually gag, but I haven't thrown up in quite a while doing that. I'm not sure what's up, but I think I'm going to have to hold off another day on not taking the meds. I hope I don't have to be on these the rest of the pregnancy! Amy |

Good morning all...
Anyone else have a pre-adolescent with hormones running wild? My dd is 9, and is crying about everything, life is one huge emotional upheaval!!! Ugh! Nicole.. that does sound a lot like contractions. Call the dr. or go to L and D and get checked out!!! At 35 weeks you could easily be in labor! Amy... I always gag when I brush my teeth, too. Hope you feel better. Hi to everyone else. I'm enjoying a day of relaxing and not doing much. Tired and not sleeping has caught up to me, so I'm trying to nap a lot.

Nicole- I agree with Sarah and Ellen- that sounds like contractions to me- especially if you are feeling it in your lower back- I would go to L&D.
Amy- Sorry you got sick. UGH. Some people do get sick the whole pregnancy- I hope you are not one of them. Ellen- I wish I could go home and take a nap- My grandfather has been re-admitted to the hospital today. His B/P is back up. They are now talking about giving him shots in his stomach to make him produce more blood or something. I don't understand it all- something about his bones not producing blood. He feels a little better today and his bp is down to 178/80 instead of the 223/?? (not sure what the bottom number was)- that is was at yesterday. Hi Lizzy D! |

Smiley Amy -
hey, the red sox are in the running for the wild card spot in the play-offs! I just hope my c-section date doesn't interfere with any post-season play! Yesterday you asked about losing weight during pregnancy. I'm not a doctor, and I don't play one on TV, but here's what I've come to after a lot research (and I'm sure some will disagree with me). I'm sure it's much more information than you ever asked for (sorry). Hope some of it helps. *WARNING - LONG AND BORING ABOUT PREGNANCY NUTRITION* The macro and micro nutrients floating around in your bloodstream during pregnancy is the only source your baby has for what he needs. If you're losing weight by low-carbing, then there are basically just ketones and the micro-nutrients you've consumed that are available to him. And your body and your baby's body will be competing for those. Your baby needs protein, protein, protein (the basic building block of life for the body) and fat (to help with brain and nervous system development through the age of six years actually) and so do you. If you don't eat enough protein to support the pregnancy, your body will start to break down muscle tissue to get the baby what he needs. You can end up quite weak and sick if that happens. Here's a rough breakdown of what amounts of nutrients are healthy to consume during pregnancy. Some of these numbers are MUCH higher than the USRDA numbers. Remeber, the USRDA numbers are the bare minimum needed (when not pregnant) in order to stave off sickness and disease like scurvy. Calories: during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters add 200 to 300 calories daily to what you would normally consume to maintain weight. You don't need any extra calories in the first trimester, since the peanut is basically the size of a peanut, or an olive and can get what he needs from your normal healthy diet. Protein: I don't know the grams, but I follow most of the Brewer Diet suggestions which include 2 eggs, 4 cups of either milk (any kind) yogurt or cottage cheese, and one to two servings of either beef, chicken, fish, lamb, pork (etc.) every day. Here are the micro nutrients I try to consume (in my daily vitamins): Vitamin A (as beta carotene) 2,500 IU Vitamin C (as calcium ascorbate) 500 mg Vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol) 700 IU Natural Vitamin E (as d-alpha tocopherol succinate) 350 IU Natural Vitamin E (as mixed tocopherols) 50 IU Vitamin K-1 (phytonadione) 300mcg Thiamin (Vitamin B-1 HCI) 50 mg Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2) 10 mg Niacinamide (Vitamin B-3) 70 mg Pyridoxine (Vitamin B-6 HCI) 50 mg Folic Acid (as folacin) 1 mg (1,000 mcg) Vitamin B-12 (methylcobalamin) 500 mcg Biotin 3 mg (3,000 mcg) Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B-5) 50 mg Calcium 1500 mg Iodine (as kelp) 75 mcg Magnesium (oxide) 300 mg Zinc (L-methionine) 30 mg Selenium (selenomethionine) 200 mcg Copper (as amino acid chelate) 2 mg Manganese (as amino acid chelate) 2 mg Chromium (polynicotinate) 400 mcg Choline (bitartrate) 150 mcg CoEnzyme Q10 30 mg Alpha Lipoic Acid 150 mg Acetyl L-Carnitine 150 mg And varying small amounts of bioflavonoids, lutein, glucosamine sulfate, and L. Acidophilus. Here are the general components of pregnancy weight gain: - the baby accounts for about 7 pounds, - the placenta is about 2 pounds, - the amniotic fluid is another 2.2 pounds, - the enlarged uterus is 2 pounds - the extra retained fluids, body fats and enlarged breasts make up the other 16 pounds or so. I would try to eat all the nutrients you and the baby need, exercise if you can, and after the delivery, look forward to breast feeding and induction. Induction levels of carbs during lactation are supposed to make mother's milk really fatty and creamy, which is good for the baby. Also, nursing can help you burn off excess weight like nobody's business. Sorry this is such a novel. Regards, LizzyD |

Hi moms!! I joined this thread yesterday and I just wanted to say I can tell this is going to be great!!!! You all are so supportive and its nice to be around people that are going thru the same thing. Good news, my early pregnancy cramping went away almost completely. I called the dr about it, said completely normal (who knew?). I feel great, no morning sickness, no nothing!! I decided I am going to eat healthy and incorporate wheat and grains but I am still not going to eat potatoes or white flours at all. So I am sitting here enjoying an apple with peanut butter! I don't think I have had an apple in a year...haha!!!
Nicole I think I am due April or May 05. |

Good morning everyone! Just thought I would pop in. We are still TTC, although my period just started today. It was a bummer since I was three days late. Oh well, on to another cycle.
MarriedinSept-Welcome to the TTC group. I also chart my cycles and use Fertilityfriend. It is such a great resource. Congrats and good luck to you. Smiley-I wish you the best TTC in September, it is just right around the corner. |

Don't they have TV in the hospital!?!? Thanks for the info on nutrition during pregnancy. It really helped. I wasn't planning on dieting during pregnancy, I was just wondering if people who ate healthy, worked out, etc could lose weight - not by trying. Quote:
Nicole ~ Careful - I don't pretend to be a know it all with pregnancies, but listen to your pals here. Get those cramps checked out!! And then run and let us all know what is going on!! ![]() |

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Hopefully I'll be joining you in the pregnancy ranks soon.
AZParalegal~ Do you the message board over at Fertility Friend? My name is southernlady over there. I agree that it's a really great resource. It makes things fairly easy which is nice. Best of luck to you too. To those of you who are TTC, how long have you been trying? I came off of BC in April and started charting this month. |
