Yippppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeee....I finally got a full nights sleep and man it was for 9 hours!! Woke up feeling better than I have in days. Suzanne, no I can't physically move the lump yet, wish I could or I would have to find out the sex at our u/s Monday!! I did lie more on my right side last night though to see if that would help, and sure enough...no pressure on my bladder this morning.

Hope everyone has a great day! Supposed to be hot and humid here AGAIN (ugghhh), thankfully I have a meeting this morning so I'll only have a half day outside.

Hi everyone,

Desp, glad your'e feeling better!

I just got back from the doctor. We got to see our little speck! My husband even saw the heartbeat, but I couldn't see it from my angle. She said I was 6weeks 5 days, but measured 5 weeks. She said she wasn't worried about it, that everything looked fine. She did, however, give me a perscription for 10mg progesterone in the am and pm. Does anyone have any experience with this? I found it rather odd that she perscribed it w/o doing any blood tests for my hormone levels. But she did say there shouldn't be any side effects and that it's completely safe.

She didn't know the answers to any of my food/diet questions and said the midwives are the experts in that area. When she saw who I was going to see, she said, "oh, she's clever!" I wonder what that means!?

So, I have a bunch of appointments in September, Midwife, then another clinic (maybe I'll like them better) then an ultra sound for neuchal fold (sp?) measurement.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Martha, how exciting to have seen it! Did they adjust your EDD at all? Please travel safely and have a good trip. We hope to see you back here soon.

Good morning to everyone else!

I had a craving for eggs this morning, so I stopped by McDonald's. Unfortunately, a Hardee's bowl sounded much better but they are quite a distance away from work. I ate the insides of a mcmuffin and a sausage/egg biscuit. Something possessed me to eat 1/2 of the muffin.. and I wish I didn't. It tasted horrible. Oh, well. Live and learn.

Good morning Mommies-

Glad everyone is feeling good.

Well today we are going to go order the carpeting for Alexander's room and some new carpet for my bedroom. We had the hallway, living room and Jessica's room done 3 years ago- I hope they still carry the same brand because I love the carpet I have in the other rooms. So we are still slowly working on the nursery- Maybe it will be done by his birthdate- LOL!!

Not much else going on we had horrible thunderstorms last night so I did not get a great night sleep- but I do feel pretty good today. I hope my DH will take me to a mexican resturant tonight after we order the carpet- I am so in the mood for Fajita's !

Morning! I'm feeling SO much better today. Thank goodness! I felt really lousy when I got home from work last night. I stopped at the grocery store on the way home to pick up a couple of things and as I was leaving, I broke out into a sweat and felt like I was going to faint. I felt REALLY nauseous. I kept getting waves of headache. So, I came home and relaxed. We had my parents over for dinner, and DH took over cooking so I could rest a bit. I felt better and slept good last night. I don't know what was up with that!

FL: Yay on a full nights sleep! That's GREAT!!

Martha: Congrats on seeing your little peanut!! How exciting!!

Smiley: Good morning!!

Dar: I went through cravings for eggs too. I had to make a big batch of deviled eggs. YUM!

Kristen: Good luck with the carpet. How fun! Our house DESPERATELY needs new carpet.

Deviled eggs is something that I could NOT eat while I was pregnant. I think I overdid it on eggs while lowcarbing before pregnancy and when I was pregnant, I had absolutely no taste for 'em.

Sarah - I had some of those dizzy, sweaty, "weird" spells while pg, too... I think it's pretty normal. It was usually when I hadn't eaten for a little while - maybe a low blood sugar thing? I'd sit down, have a bite to eat, and feel better.

for a good night's sleep, DFL!

Kristen, Fajitas sound good to me, too, but we never go out for dinner anymore. With a 4+ month old baby, it's just more trouble than it's worth. He almost ALWAYS fusses when the food comes to the table.

I definitely didn't get pregnant last night. Had company and then Carter was crabby and it tired me out. Hoping for an opportunity tonight!

Have a great day everyone!

What I really wanted was a nice big plate of cheesy scrambled eggs or an omelette, bacon, sausage, maybe some whole grain toast... Oh, well. Hard to do on your way to work!! I'd make some eggs in the morning, but I have a 7 am flight which means I need to leave the house at 5 am. I can't stomach food that early.

Crap, now I'm hungry again!! LOL...

Good Morning.

I am starting to get nervous for my amnio tomorrow. On top of that, our flight gets in one hour and forty minutes before my amnio is scheduled. If our plane is late at all, I will be a mess! It will be good to be back home to recover and rest, though. Did anyone else have an amnio? Did you just take it easy for a few days? At least it's the weekend...I'll let you know how it goes!

Dar~I'm craving eggs now too! I had FIVE yesterday! Three scrambled, and egg foo yung at the Chinese restaurant.

Hi Amy!

Hi Martha! A "clever" midwife? Well, that sounds good I'd say. I think the progesterone supps are just a precaution, and there should not be any negative effects, but it is strange they didn't test your blood anyway.

Hi Christie! I hope you get your "opportunity" tomight!

Hi DFL! I'm jealous of your good night's sleep. I tossed and turned all night. I was so tired I didn't think I could make it through the check-out lane at the store yesterday. My lower back hurts a lot.

Kristen: What color will your new carpet be?

Sarah: feel better! I had a supermarket overload yesterday too! I ate everything in sight yesterday, so hunger sure wasn't my problem. I had: 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, a snack, and 2 dinners!

Kelley

I MUST be feeling better. With all the talk about baby dancing yesterday I had some pretty erotic dreams yesterday and then attatcked my sweetie this morning. I have to say it was probably the most enjoyable sex I've ever had. Ok, a little tmi I suppose, but that was my excitement for today.

LOL.. glad to hear it, Amy!

Hubby keeps threatening that we won't have sex.. he says he can't have sex with a pregnant woman. Even though we did just after I took the first hpt and it was positive. Wow.. sex when I wasn't ovulating! Very enjoyable. He loves to piss me off sometimes. Argh..

I suppose I should ask the dr. if it's okay for him to keep using Viagra while I'm pg, though, huh? Gosh, I hope so.

Smiley Amy, sorry to hear about Trooper.. I posted a response to you.

Sarah- How sweet that dh took over cooking for you. I have hot flashes sometimes- do you think that is what is was?

Kelley- We are getting beige carpet- boring I know, but I like things neutral. Good luck with the amnio-

Amy- LOL Your husband probably loved it. The dreams seem to just get stranger as the pg goes on for me.

Christie- Hope you get your chance to make baby today.

Dar- I hope dh can keep taking the viagra.

Can I join your thread?

I logged on today to find as much info as I could about eating low carb while pregnant. To my surprise, I found this thread! I'd love to join if you guys don't mind.

I'm 17 weeks preg, due Jan 24, 2005. I have pre-diabetes and have been going to a prenatal diabetes specialist. I have to go see the specialist (and my regular ob/gyn) every 2 weeks because of the diabetes and some other complications. I have yet to meet with my dietician - I had an appointment scheduled for this past Monday but she called in sick so I have to wait til the 27th to see what kind of eating plan she wants to have me on. My guess is it will include too many carbs as the specialist wants me to do some kind of exchange program. For now, I'll be doing Atkins Maintenance.

Up until today, I really haven't been eating right at all. I've been taking my blood sugars 4 times a day and that's made me realize that I need to do a whole lot better. Yesterday, 2 hours after a breakfast of a sausage biscuit, hash browns and a medium coke, my blood sugar was 140!! Today, I had spinach with onions, tomatoes and an egg, it was 92! Huge difference. Clearly, I need to throw away all the junk I've been taking in.

Is everyone exercising? I hate to sweat, but I'm going to start walking as much as I can. Thanks for having me!

Hi again!

ReinventingMe

Ames, Way to go!!

Hi Kelly! Good luck on your amnio! I'll be thinking of you

Hi Sarah!

Dar, she didn't even mention a date to me. She did tell me my baby is 4mm, though! I can't help but grin

Sometimes I think too much information (the internet!) can be a hindrence! I've been reading about progesterone and getting freaked out! But, I called my trusted doctor in Greenwich, and she said it was ok, so I'm going to go ahead and take it. But, Lord, how anyone takes drugs after reading all the side effects is beyond me! Headache, dizziness, blood clots (this one is going to give me nightmares! Dad has deep vein thrombosis, and mom had blood clots after she gave birth to my brothers), breast tenderness, weight gain , it goes on and on...

Well, I hope everyone has a great few weeks, I will try to check in sometime.

Oh, Pauline, hoping for a great birth for you!

Nini!

I think most of us are on Maintenance. A few of us have carb attacks as a result of morning sickness, but hopefully that will pass. Let us know how it goes with the dietician. We can add you to the list tomorrow AM!

Good morning all....
Welcome Reinventingme! If you're checking your sugars daily, didn't they give you a diet plan to follow? I know my peri's office if very specific about what and how much to eat for it's diabetic patients.

LaPretty, 2 days till your due date!! Hope this little girl gets going soon.

We are house cleaning today and then off to fetal monitoring for me this afternoon. I really wish that one of these days they'd just tell me I'm done and go ahead and deliver!! I'm sooooooo tired of being tired, of not sleeping well. If I'm lucky I get about 4 hours of sleep. Not always that lucky. Of course, staying up till midnight to watch the Olympics gymnastics finals doesn't help matters!!

Have a productive day...

Tracy- Your girls are adorable. Katie is getting so big!!

Nini- and congrats. I have not been successful in staying low carb- so I don't have any advice- sorry.

Ellen- Sorry you can't get any sleep. I tired to stay up to watch the finals but I went to bed at 10:30- but then I woke up at 3:30 and NBC was replaying them at that time -so I watched them from 3:30- 4:30- LOL!!

Psstt... Ellen.. you think you're going to sleep AFTER you deliver?!

Welcome, Nini!!!

Martha, is the progesterone a preventative measure, to help keep you from miscarriage?

I don't know, it could have been a hot flash. I got really warm and broke out in an instant sweat and got all weird feeling. All nauseous and headachy. DH got me all freaked out thinking it was pre-eclampsia or something... do you think it could be?

Sarah- HBP will make you weak and nautious (SP?) also look out for blurred vision, headaches and extreme swelling in your feet, hands and face- that's a sure sign. You prolly are just having hormone imbalances going on. Pretty normal when you are growing a whole nother human within you!

Hi Mommies,

Sarah, you should monitor your blood pressure because that could also cause the sypmtoms you experienced. A couple of days ago when I went to the city, I felt the exact same way. When I got home, my BP was 149/86. After resting for 15 minutes (my cure for everything) it was back down to 120/75. We have one of those home BP checker things that all you have to do is put it on and push a button. I think it cost about $40 at Costco.

Desp, glad to hear you lump moved off your bladder.

Martha, my doctor put me on progesterone before I miscarried last year, to try and keep the pregnancy viable. Unfortunately it didn't work but that must be a pretty standard treatment. Hopefully you won't have any side effects and won't have to take it long.

Hi Kristen! The new carpet sounds great; beige is a good choice with a toddler and one on the way.

Hi Smiley!

Kelley, good luck with the amnio!

Ames, pregnant sex is the best sex I've ever had. And the bigger you get the better the orgasm. Must have something to do with the size of your uterus.

Welcome Reinventing! Good luck managing your diet. If you have made it though the first trimester, and morning sickness, without going nuts on carbs, it should be easier now to stick to an LC diet. About exercise, during the first trimester when I felt really yucky, I did 45 minutes of aerobics, an hour of yoga, 30 minutes of light weight lifting, swam 2K, and used an elliptical trainer. Not all in the same day but I was getting in at least two of those activities per day several days a week. After the first trimester, I started power walking 10K a day and doing yoga until 4 weeks ago. At that point it was just too hot here to do anything. Last pregnancy I swam an hour a day every day until the 7th month, then the acid reflux was too bad.

Teach, good luck with the fetal monitoring. Not long now and the joys of pregnancy will be behind you. And as Dar pointed out, you probably won't get any more sleep than you are now. Thanks Dar, for reminding us!

Where is Pauline? I can't wait to hear about her delivery!

Before I declined, he went through what recovery was like to reduce miscarriage. It simply included 24-48 hours bedrest and absolutely no lifting of anything over 10 lbs. Good luck...will be thinking of you

Hey, I'm the newbie here.. just trying to help out! You pregnant ladies get that "baby brain" and start to forget things. Oh, yea, that includes me! I forgot.
