Morning Ladies...I was up early (or actually up all night) so figured I'd start the thread.
Went to pick up my son from my ex last night. My son came out of his room with blood and yellow puss comming out of his left ear. I was concerned for him and livid at my ex. Seems he has a "slight ear infection" according to my ex and he was simply giving him Tylenol and ear drops. Of course being the mother I am...I insisited we go immediately to the pediatric wellcare center to have it checked. Sure enough, middle ear infection but his tubes (3rd set at 8 years old) are still in place so hopefully it'll all drain. Drove the hour home to my local pharmacy and got his antibiotic filled. What a long night! My son's been up and down all night with the pressure waking him in pain and the crustiness of the drainage bothering him and it being painful while I try to remove it. Poor kid. Sure hope this one doesn't have the ear problems my son does. So needless to say, my back and hips haven't had much relief and are killing me this morning. Sure hope he naps later so I can nap with him. Hmmmm sounds like someone's preparing me for the arrival of this baby!! Hope everyone has a great weekend. Not sure what we're up to other than simply tending to my son....which I will gladly do. At 8 you don't get much "cuddling" unless their sick. |

I'm so sorry your son is in so much pain. I had one ear infection like that and still remember how badly it hurt! Hope he feels better soon!
The YMCA is building a brand new daycare facility for the employees of the company I work for. Yesterday was the open house, and as I have the baby on the wait list, I went and took the tour. I didn't even make it into the infant room, just saw the little cribs, and I started sobbing. I even made the nice lady in the infant room cry with me! I felt like a real idiot, but everyone was very nice and understanding. Anyone else have an experience like that?? Part of me wants to stay home, but I really enjoy my work, so the other part wants to continue. Financially speaking, I really need to keep working.... I guess I have some deep-seeded emotional issues around the baby and daycare.. My saving grace is that I know I can't be the only one feeling like this.Hope everyone has a great day! |

Hi Mommies,
Hope everybody's having a nice weekend. The Democratic National Convention is over, so now we feel as though we have all this extra time on our hands which had been previously sucked up by the desire to watch the media coverage. Beautiful couple of days here. I took my boys (4 yo and 5 yo) down to Cape Cod (a little over an hour away) for a beach day yesterday. Boy did they have a blast. We'll be there for the last 10 days of summer (through labor day) with my family (i.e. babysitters) staying just up the street. Can't wait. No pregnancy related news to report. I have my next O.B. appointment on Tuesday, at which point I'll be 28 weeks and 4 days (which I think officially puts me in the 3rd trimester). Is that when everybody starts going every two weeks? Hey Suzanne - did you start out in the US or in Canada? Is your dh Mexican? I'm just wondering what got you down there living what I consider to be an ideal life (something Jimmy Buffet sings about and that I only dream about ).Off to enjoy the sun and go swimming with my kids (dh is on a business trip). BBL. Regards, LizzyD

Hi Mommies,
Happy Saturday! Desperate, sorry to hear about your son, that sounds so painful. My 2 y.o. has never had an ear infection, knock on wood, but it is sure to come with the amount of time we spend in the water. Hope you get some air conditioned slumber at some time today. nyanchan, that would make me cry, too! Hi Lizzy! That sounds like a nice getaway, expecially the babysitter part. My in laws are coming down a few weeks (hopefully) before the birth. I hope Max is comfortable enough with them to allow us some time alone before the big day. My husband is Canadian, I am American, and we met here in Mexico. Our son has triple citizenship, the employees call him Tres Banderas (Three Flags). Hope everyone is having a great weekend! My big excitement today has been listening to the VHF radio. There are four people in a motor yacht about 40 miles off shore, near an atoll where we dive that is also a biosphere reserve. Well, their boat broke down but they got in touch with one of the biologists at the biosphere. He got some of the local fishermen who are out there for the lobster quota to offer to go pick these people up so they don't have to drift at sea forever. But, the fishermen's boat isn't powerful enough to tow the yacht, they would have to leave it drifting. So the captain tells them not to bother, they don't want to be picked up. Next I heard the Belizean patrol boat talking to them on the radio, asking the captain what he wants. The guys says, he want someone to come out there and tow him to shore. Asking for a tow to shore in this part of the world is like asking for a bucket of diamonds. I think the general concensus between the Mexican navy, the Belizean navy, and the fishermen, it to let them drift and hope the get close to Cozumel (where there are lots of big boats) before they run out of water. That's my drama for the day. Saludos, Suzanne

Hi ladies....
Having a busy weekend here, and really hoping for some down time. Dh has been sick for about a week and just lying around the house. He's pretty much well now, but still just lying around. Argh!!!! Took dd to a girl scout activity this morning, and now I'm home hoping for a nap. Tomorrow is dh's b'day, and we're taking him to a minor league baseball game if he's well enough. I have no energy left, so I'd be ok if we skipped it! Desperate, my dd had 2 sets of tubes, and getting an infection with the tubes in is NO fun! Hope he's feeling better. Have a good weekend all....

Hi Mommies,
Hope you're all having a nice weekend. DH is on a business trip and I'm having all these really erotic dreams about him. Boy will he be bummed that he's not around to take advantage of the mood I wake up in Speaking of which, has anybody else experienced wild changes in their libido levels? For some time before and then a long time after my first was born, my libido just fell off to nothing. That was a really hard time. Since I've gotten pregnant this time, it's been increasing every month (good thing I'm only pregnant another 2 1/2 months or who knows what trouble I'd get into ).It's so ironic, normally when I'm feeling fat it can really effect my mood and my desire to be seen and touched sexually, but now that I'm at my hugest, I can't get enough of dh! The poor guy, I wonder what it's like living with such a schitzo. BIG DAY OF MOURNING IN BOSTON: The Red Sox have traded short stop Nomar Garciappara. He's tremendously popular, was MLB Rookie of the Year in 1997 and has been an All Star five times. He was injured earlier this season so hasn't played too much, but he really has been a big draw for a lot of the fans. Go to any mall in New England and just count the number of Garciappara shirts you see on kids and grown ups. The management is going strictly by statistics, but they're completely negating the effect of loyalty. This guy was really the heart and soul of the team for many. So, now he's off to play for the Chicago Cubs. Knowing our luck, he'll probably lead them to their first World Series win since 1908. He'll become the 2nd stupidest Red Sox trade of all time, just after Babe Ruth. So sad, so sad here! Oh, and by the way, I think Nomar may have made an appearance in one of my dreams last night .Regards, LizzyD |

Welcome Sarah
This thread isn't usually very busy on weekends, but I'm sure you'll get a bunch of 'hello' messages tomorrow. If you're due 12/30/04, my on-line due date calculator says you're in your 18th week. Is that right? Whoever starts the thread tomorrow will post the week you are in next to your name at the top of the thread. I'd suggest to your midwife that she chill a little. She should know that pregnancy weight comes on in serious fits and starts. Five of those seven pounds could be from a salty dinner the night before and could disappear in a day or two. Now, if you had gained seven pounds every two weeks for several visits in a row and you were showing a real pattern, then she might have room to show a little concern. Anyway, nice to have you here. I think you'll find the women on this board very supportive and full of information. They are a terrific resource for your questions and concerns. And believe me, no comment or question is too gross, too detailed, too anything. If it exists, it's probably been discussed here. Regards, LizzyD |

Yep i am 18 weeks 4 days will be 19 weeks on wednesday .
Oh and i totally agree to my midwife needs to cailm down . Emma ended up being 7 oz less then my preemie baby and she was born at 39 weeks and my son was born at 35 1/2 weeks . So i didn't want to go low carb cause i didn't want a low birth weight baby agian . I mean if your used to having big babies then i see it as a GREAT thing but i have small babies . But honestly this is the only life style i enjoy and can do while pregnant with out feeling sick all the time . Oh and i don't do horriable low carb with emma i was between 80-110 a day . thanks for the welcome ! |

DesperateinFL: Oh, I hope your son feels better soon! I used to get bad earaches (no blood or puss, though), and the pain can be excrutiating. I would be p*ssed at the ex, too. Good luck, sweetie.
Suzanne: I would be worried if I was on that boat! It must be a big one though if it can't be towed? I hope they get rescued somehow. Teach: I'm glad your DH is recovering, did he just have the flu? He's been feeling bad for awhile, no? I hope you don't get it! Lizzy: That is funny about the erotic dreams. I bet your DH would hurry back if he knew! (unless he needs a rest, LOL). I can't wait till my libido returns. Something about morning sickness is not all that sexy. Sarah! I know there are many ladies successfully LCing throughout their pregnancies here, and have some great advice. Glad you could join us!As for me, I am even more . Don't know why; I am still taking my meds, just throwing up anyway. Today I made flaxmeal pancakes with blueberries and they came right up as soon as I finished eating. I was so bummed. Then I ate 2 Krispy Kreme Raspberry doughnuts when I went to the store and those stayed down. Wouldn't you know it? I was halfway planning on those coming back up too. I had to enter them into Fitday (of course) and they are 300 calories each and 39g carbs! I am so ashamed of myself. Has anyone else messed up like this?Kelley

Sarah....congrats and
from a fellow Floridian!!MadameX...trust me, I haven't been thrilled with him one bit!! Son is doing much better today. Still a lot of discharge from his ear, but he actually has taken responsibility for keeping it clean as he says I hurt him when I do it. He ran a bit of a fever yesterday and had some vomiting, thankfully I stomached it and helped him through. But I think he'll be just fine. He's staying with my exMIL the next 3 weeks who has a pool...think I'll give her the 8 sets of earplugs we have for him just in case. |
