Hi Mommies,

Jen, you have such a great little belly! I didn't show until about 28 weeks but now it is all hanging out. I envy you the swimming. About a week ago I had to quit walking and now my acid reflux is too bad to swim. Just call me the couch potato.

Hi Cyn, how's your little Alexia?

Angela, where are you?

My blood pressure is starting to creep up a little and it makes me panicky. I had a cesarean last time because my blood pressure was 140/90 and a bunch of other stupid excuses my doctor had. In the US, they would let me labor at that same pressure but here in Mexico they will send me straight to the operating room. Yesterday, after being really active for an hour I had a reading of 131/80. It went right down as soon as I sat down for a few minutes, but it just bums me out so much to think I might have to have another cesarean. I was really hoping that being 40 lbs lighter this time, my pressure wouldn't go up.

How's everyone else doing today?

Saludos,

Suzanne

Suzanne~keeping my fingers crossed for you on your blood pressure. I've never had a C-section (obviously since this is my first), but I will do whatever I can do to avoid one after all I have heard and read about them.

I am hoping I will be able to keep the swimming up for a while. DH and I are supposed to go late this afternoon after I get off work. I am psyched!

Jen, have a good swim for me!

I think my blood pressure is due to thyroid problems this time. Two months after Max was born, I found out I was hypothyroid. I started this pregnancy taking 125 mcgs a day of levothyroxine. At each blood test, my levels were too high and my endocrinologist lowered the dosage. Now I am not taking any meds and my thyroid levels are still way too high. It is just too weird to go from hypO to hypER in one pregnancy. I am hoping the doc can put me on PTU at my next appt and that it will help my blood pressure go down. My resting pulse is rarely lower than 110 and it is usually closer to 120 lately.

OK, that's enough complaining from me for one day.

Jen- Hello...you have a great belly..I just saw it from the weekend thread...good job on the swimming...

Suzanne- thanks for asking and Alexia is doing great! I went back to work today and I have already called 3 times to see how she is doing. I'm so so sad!!!!!!!! I'm you don't have to get a c-section. I'm coming back to Mexico in February. Maybe we could hook up last time I was leaving as you were coming to Cancun. I will be in Cancun Feb. 13,14,15,16, 17. Just booked my flight and everything.

Take care!

Hi Mommies,

Where the heck is Angela? I missed a couple of days, was she supposed to get induced or something?

Suzanne, will your acid reflux allow you to be vertical in the water (I can see how being horizontal and doing laps would exacerbate the symptoms)?

The reports I've read on the effects of submersion in water (up to the neck) and blood pressure didn't say you had to exercise once you were in the water.

All they said was that if you are submerged in water up to the neck for an hour at a time, that the all-over-the-body pressure created by the water has all kinds of beneficial effects (better blood flow, better cardiac output, better renal and kidney functions, lower blood pressure, etc.) And that these effects were significant.

If you can possibly just get into the water up to your neck and just stand there, or walk around gently, every day, for as long as possible (up to an hour), it may help your blood pressure situation, even if some of it it is due to hyper-thyroid.

Love the belly pic by the way (you too Jen!). You guys look like I did before I was pregnant, after eating a big lunch. I'm half way through week 27 and my belly is HUGE. I'll try and get DH to snap a pic and post it for me tonight.

Hope every one else is well. BBL.

Regards,
LizzyD

Good morning!!

We painted our nursery yesterday! It looks SO good!! I just love it! It's a really light, soft yellow called Starbright. It's got a hint of green undertone, so it looks really pretty with our bedding that has a lot of blues, greens, and tans. I love it!

Their website won't let me post a pic, so try this link to see the color: Starbright

Tonight I'm going to set up the crib and get the furniture arranged.

I'll definitely post pics when it's all done!

Suzanne: I'm sorry to hear about your blood pressure. I'm praying that it stays down!

Cyn: Hi!!

Jen and Lizzy: Good morning!!

Hi ladies...
Hope you all had a nice weekend. Mine was quiet. Dh was sick, so we just hung around. I'm having terrible constipation that is not resolving with colace, so I've been uncomfortable for the last few days. Hope it gets better SOON.

Thininmex... I've been on levoxyl throughout this pg. I'm convinced that it has helped me get this far!! They check my thyroid levels once a month, and so far so good. If your levels are out of whack, maybe they should put you back on a lower dosage.

Sarah... Our nursery is also painted a pretty yellow. When it was dd's room, my MIL painted a mural of Beatrix Potter characters on one wall, so that's the "theme" still. It's very cute!!

Hi to everyone else. Have a nice day.....

Hello everyone!

Still no news from Angela?

Sarah, I could NOT BELIEVE your luck at the sales! That travel system looks like new! So cute! I love the paint color too.

Love the belly pics Suzanne and Jen.

Jen, that pool looks so nice! Isn't it amazing to discover what our tax $$$ pay for that we could have been taking advantage of all along?

Tigerlily, Love the pics of your beautiful family!

Teach, I hope the constipation resolves itself. That can be SO unconfortable. Have you tried prunes?

Lizzy: That's amazing that just being submerged can help lower BP. Good to know!

Cynthia: Don't be a stranger! Let us know how it goes after baby. This is all new for me so I love to hear all aspects of this experience from mommies who have been there before me!

I was sooo sick yesterday! I set a new record for vomiting, and I was even on meds. I don't know what's going on. This time last week, it seemed like it was going away. Tomorrow I have my First Trimester screening. It's a new series of blood tests, kind of like AFP, but more accurate (?) and earlier. Then they also do that in-depth ultrasound.

I know it's still early for me, but I have actually lost a pound since becoming PG, despite all I'm eating. I'm a little worried; I just can't eat any more! I'm lucky to get down what I already do! I have been exercising a lot less, and wondered if maybe I'm losing muscle and that's why the scale goes down? Any Ideas?

Kelley

Isn't that the truth!!! I wouldn't have signed up at Curves last summer if I had known about this pool.

I grew up with a pool in my backyard, but never used it for exercise. I started to love swimming as exercise my last term at Georgia Tech. It was the summer of 97 and I was only taking a half load of courses (all I needed to graduate). The Olympic swimming complex was open to students and it was awesome. After graduation I moved to Albany, GA and there was a nice indoor pool at the Y. Then I moved to a town 40 miles north of Jax that had a nice heated pool at the rec center. But ever since I moved down into Jacksonville, I haven't swam on a regular basis. I can't afford martial arts tution and entire Y membership (to just use the pool). So, that is my long story of why I was so excited to find this pool.

Suz~why did you have to quit the walking? I promise to swim some laps for you .

Kelley~ I really hope the MS passes soon. I wouldn't fret on the lack of weight gain in your first trimester. From what I understand, when you have MS as bad as you do, it is common not to gain weight.

Hi mommies-

Ellen- hope constipation goes away soon- What a pain.

Suzanne- Hope b/p stabilizies.

Jenn- You look awesome. Have fun swimming.

Cyn- Sorry you are already back to work- who is watching Alexia? The first week back is the worst

Lizzy- Hi

Sarah- Can't wait to see the finishes nursery- Man I really need to get working on mine!

Kelly- Hope m/s goes away soon. I would not be concerned about losing a little bit of weight. I lost 14#'s my first trimester with Jessica because all I did was throw up- I really could not keep anything down. The doctor never got concerned.

Angela- - Hoping everything is okay- (Lizzy- her last post said she was to be induced on Tuesday the 20th- almost a week ago!)

I didn't get much accomplised this past weekend. I have started to wash some of the babies clothes- Next weekend we don't have anything planned so we will have to clean out my husbands office to get it ready to paint for the nursery. - I will feel much better when we get the room done.

It's too hot here now; 90 F and 90% humidity at 6:30 AM and I was starting to get dizzy by the end of my walk. I do go out and soak at the end of the pier every day. I had to quit swimming at this time last pregnancy because the reflux was making me puke. Hope you can keep swimming until the end, it sure feels good.

Ellen, I can't take levothyroxine anymore. My thyroid started working again, too well apparently, and the combination of my own hormones and the levothyroxine were posing a danger to the baby. One test was so high the doc wanted to see me immediately to check the baby for tachycardia. That's when he took me off meds completey. Next check my levels were still too high even with out the meds, which means I have become hypER. I hope it gets better soon or they can give me a different med to reduce T3 and T4.

Kristen, good for you washing the baby clothes! I've been meaning to get around to that but I can't find Dreft anywhere. Does anyone know of another detergent that is gentle enough for new borns? Woolite?

Kelley, sorry you are still so sick! It should get better soon now that you are almost in the 2nd trimester. I lost 10 lbs the first trimester last pregnancy, but I started much heavier than you are. You should start gaining soon then you'll have something new to ****** about LOL. I was so worried because I wasn't gaining, then it came on with a vengance.

Sarah, I love your nursery color!

Cyn, I'll let you know as the time gets closer if we need to go to Cancun during those dates. It would be so cool to meet you in person!

That is perfect!! - -

I am depressed today because I wanted to take 12 weeks off - but I don't think we can afford it. I tired so hard to save up money but so far I have only saved two 1/2 paychecks worth- So I will have to go back to work after 8 weeks. Oh well- It will work out!

Kristen- do you get disability? When you are at home you will be amazed how much money you will save. I saved so much on gas, not eating out at lunch everyday, not stopping at the store after work to pick up this and that....you will be amazed how much money you save by not going to work. Who would have thought? I got disability for 6 weeks and took the other weeks off w/ pay but I was off work for a total of 4 months because I was on bedrest before having Alexia...which was also paid w/ disability. I only received 66 3/4% of my pay each week but it worked out. You will be amazed how things will come together for you.

Take care!

I asked about Disability - my company is very small- (under 25 employees) so they do not pay into a disablity insurance- They went so far as to say that they do not even have to abide by the family leave act since they are a small company- They will give me the time off but with NO pay-

I am just concerned because it will be Christmas time ect. We can probably make it work- but I am scared. I don't like to be strapped and we are working our way out of debt and want to move to a bigger house within the next two years- So I will scarfice and go back to work sooner than I wanted. It will be ok-

Hello everyone. Hope everyone is feeling well.

Suzanne, there is Ivory for babies and All for babies. Go to your store and in the laundry detergent section, they should have a couple of ones for babies. If you don't find one, just get one for sensitive skin or dye/fragrance free.

I've decided that I'm going to start walking on the treadmill every morning before I go to work. DH and DS sleep until 730 every morning so if I wake up at 6 and work out until 645ish, that'll give me some time to myself before the "boys" wake up.

I have gained a total of five pounds since i found out I was pregnant. The second trimester is when I Start really putting on the pounds so I'm going to have to watch it. This time, I'm not eating tons of ice cream, pizza and fast food, which is a good thing.

We go to the doctor tomorrow. I have an ultrasound every time due to having an incompetent cervix. Unfortunately they're all transvag and the tech's never want to look at the baby

I am however curious how soon ya'll found out the sex of your babies. My coworker is due exactly the same day as I am and we're 16 weeks...and she's going for her ultrasound on wed. Dunno why, that just seemed early to me and I'd hate to see her disappointed.

Hi FL, how are you holding up in the heat? I found out the sex of my last baby at birth, but the doctor started telling me HE was a girl at 20 weeks. Needless to say, we didn't believe it when they told us this one was a girl at 21 weeks.

Hi all! I'm still here and feeling pukey. I shouldn't complain because I know I'm doing a heck of a lot better this time around. But, I'll complain anyway, because it still sucks.

I had to chime in on the laundry detergent discussion. There's plenty of "free" detergents out there if you're worried about sensitive skin. Dreft is insanely expensive and totally unnecessary 99% of the time. My gm bought us several bottles of Dreft, but unless I had a full load of baby clothes, I didn't use it. Granted, I had a lot of loads of just baby clothes, but dd never had a problem with the clothes washed with everything else. Plus I never thought Dreft did a particularly good job of cleaning the clothes.

Hi ladies!

Doing well today.

Having heartburn already at 14 weeks. Really sucks! Had to be on prescription Zantac for it last time. Anyone else getting that real early?

Also, question for the veteran mommies doing the pregnancy thing again. Did you notice a really big (and I mean BIG) change in your breasts the 2nd or even 3rd time around? I have gone from a small D to an overflowing double D in the span of 14 weeks and these babies are constantly hurting. I can barely hug anyone. Good thing I had kept some of my larger bras from my heavier days or I would be in trouble. I shudder to think what they will look like when my milk comes in. I don't remember them doing this so dramatically last time.

As for the baby detergent thing, I always washed my daughter's clothes right with mine with no issues. We used Tide at the time. Unless you or your spouse has sensitive skin themselves, your baby shouldn't have many problems either. My husband and I practically have cast iron skin (gotta love the desert sun) and my daughter is just as tough. Those darn baby detergents were too pricey anyhow. Tide is expensive enough, thank you very much!

Well we put our house on the Market finally. Got one bite so far, but no offers. Now if we can only find a house. The AZ home market is almost as bad as CA right now, with median houses going for more than their asking prices and are getting snapped up in 24 hours from listing. Mine is little so I don't expect it to go quickly but with prices going up the way they are I feel like I need to buy now or never be able to move up to a nicer house.

Well, gotta go, hope everyone is doing well.

ThininMex....the heat is still here, and I'm braving it. Actually got to come home early from work today to finish a newsletter on my home computer. Was never so happy to be home with the dog before!! Other than that, drinking a ton of ice water while there. Biggest worry my clients/coworkers have is how red/flushed I appear when outside. I must say tho, it's helping with my weight gain (fingers crossed it shows at doc tomorrow). I'm so hot I eat only cool things for lunch (sandwich, salad, veggies/fruit) and crave fresh fruit or veggies w/dip when I get home. Then I'm usually so tired I don't eat much for dinner LOL. Getting enough....but not too much as I was in first trimester with the carbs.

TY for asking about me
