Good morning ladies. Today is much better than yesterday. I'm going to be working days this week and came off midnights yesterday. The baby sure did protest the lack of sleep. I spent much of my night last night puking my guts out despite the nausia medicine. I got some pretty good sleep the rest of the night though and feel much better this morning.

I just want to let you ladies know that yellow cervical mucous is not normal. The doctor called late last week and told me that I tested positive for Group B Streptococcus. Now I'm on antibiotics for it. If I still have it by my 36th week I will have to have an IV of antibiotics when I go into labor so the baby doesn't get it going through the birth canal. It sounds like it doesn't do much to the mom, but can be dangerous to the baby during delivery. So, if you have strange mucous, be sure to get it checked out.

Well, I guess that is all for now. Hope the sickness stays at bay the rest of the week. I hate working days.

Amy

Amy
It can be dangerous for the baby, When my oldest was born, I was strep B positive, but didn't know it, my dr didn't test me, (He was an A$$!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Anyway, Chase had a few respitory issues, and he was on IV antibiotics for 10 days, It was horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He tested ++ for a bunch of the bad stuff that they can get, not fun for a mom with her first born.

The put me on antibiotics with my second while I was in labor, because my new OB, said that the chances are if you are + once you will be positive again.

Anyway best of luck, and since you are on antibiotics, you and baby should be fine.

Good morning ladies!!

There's not too much new here. It has been really humid here for the last few days, and it's so odd. It's usually so dry around here. The humidity feels yucky to me. And let me tell you, my curly hair is rebelling!!

Amy: I'm so glad you got checked out! It sucks that you have Group B Strep, but thank goodness you know that before hand. I hope you feel okay today.

Cari: I can't imagine how stressful that must have been for you with your first born. That would break my heart!!

Sarah thanks it was very stressful, but good did come out of it, it has me very vocal now when it comes to my kids, and myself with dr's I don't just accept what they say, I now question, and "demand" that they do what I need them to do.

OH and I never did say congrats on having a boy, they are lots and lots of fun!!

Hi Guys,

I'll probably post this again tomorrow since most of you are long gone by now. Does anyone else in the 3rd trimester feel miserable? Between the irritability, achiness, tiredness and insomnia I'm having a hard time. My newest symptom (I could only tell a bunch of preggos this) is pain in my crotch, mostly an ache but sometimes a stabbing sensation when I walk. Ouch! I'm guessing this is my bones softening and separating?

Ok, enough ******ing. My shower on Saturday was great! We got enough gift cards plus returns to get a travel system, new mattress for the crib we inherited, and tons of other little things on our registry. We also got a bunch of clothes from a little fancy kiddie boutique that we were able to return and get stuff we liked. I've enjoyed all the showers but I'm kinda glad there are no more functions planned!

Someone asked what travel sysem I got...it was the Graco Literider 3000. It was only $100 at Target, is lightweight, and the car seat part is the SnugRide which scored high on Consumer Reports.

One question for moms....what is a good gift for a 6 year old girl? We have a b-day for a cousin coming up and I have NO IDEA what to get her.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Cari! It's good to 'see' you here. I have my group B strep thingie scheduled for my next appt. I can't believe your doc overlooked something that vital! It's things like that that make you realize you're your own (and kid's) health advocate.

Looper--THanks for the reply yesterday. I'm glad to know that it's normal (like every other bizarre pregnancy symptom!) and it does feel EXACTLY like you described...boot to the crotch. I'm hobbling around like an old lady now.

Trolly: I'm glad your shower went well! That's great! I'm sorry about the crotch pain. I think I'm starting to feel it a bit in my hips. I think it will set in any day now. Do warm baths help at all? Do you have to be on your feet a lot?

just peeking in to check on you ladies....

Amy, I am glad you got that checked out!

Yellow cervical mucus can be a sign of infection but it is not abnormal for many women.

I have always had yellow CM on and off, and never tested positive for Group B or anything else.

My little Hannah is 8 weeks, and my son Noah is 2 today! I also have a 3 and a half year old named Maggie. I will be 29 next week, and I never thought I'd have three kids before the age of 30! Yikes.

Breastfeeding is one of the true joys of motherhood in my opinion. I urge all you preggo ladies to at least give it your best shot.

I have the Avent Isis manual breast pump, and I do pump bottles for times when I am gone or even so DH can feed the baby in the middle of the night.

I am a stay at home mom so I don't need a double electric pump but I know even some working moms use this pump because it works so well, is quiet, and doesn't need electricity!

Have a great day everybody!

Morning guys,

Tolly, it is so funny. I was about to post this long rant about how miserable this third trimester is turning out to be!! It has been so hot here, and I cannot sleep at night, even though I seem to be able to fall asleep as soon as I get in the car, or sit down at the dinner table or in front of the TV!!! I've been getting some weird pains too. Kind of like what you described. A pain starting in my lower abdomen then shooting down my leg. A girl at work had it, and her doctor told her the baby had its head pressed against her pelvis and some large nerves were getting squished, which was causing the pain!! The thing about this pain is that it isn't a cramp, so you can't just walk it off. I've been trying to squat and contort to move the little girl off of my pelvis. Sometimes it works, sometimes not! Anyhow, I sympathize completely trolly!!!!!

Warning: this is a possible TMI alert.

I think it might be because of the heat, but I've had an increase in secretions lately, to the point of rather wet underwear. It is clear, odourless and more waterlike than mucousy. I wasn't too worried, until I read something about leaking amniotic fluid. Nothing is pouring out, or even dripping down my legs, but I still can't shake the nervous feeling. Anybody else have these symptoms? It is probably just sweat, but, being a first time preggo, I'm jumping to conclusions yet again!!!

I've been lurking around lately, but not posting, mostly because of the time difference. I get on the computer at nine or ten pm, which is midnight or one for you easterners!! Congratulations to Katie and beautiful Kaden. Another hairy little baby!!

Sorry about the Strep B Amy, but I'm glad that it is under control. Isn't it hard to distinguish symptoms between normal and abnormal in pregnancy? You pick up a book and every normal symptom can also be abnormal. When I was bleeding for two weeks at the beginning of the second trimester I was told spotting was normal, bleeding wasn't but some bleeding could be normal but not with cramping, but some cramping and bleeding could be normal (I had bleeding and cramping and passing clots... all abnormally normal). Needless to say, it was a stressfull few weeks!!!!

Sarah, it is so humid here!! It feels like we are going to have a thunderstorm, which might be fun. I think we've had one thunderstorm in the last five years!! And I woke up with an Afro!!! What products do you use for defrizzing? I haven't had much luck lately. I use Paul Mitchell conditioning foam, which beautifully defines my ringlets, but I still get the frizzies by the evening!! I don't even bother straightening my hair this time of year!!!

Hi Cari. Nice to see you around. When did you have your babies?

Nicole

Sarah--Luckily I have a desk job but just walking to the bathroom hurts! I can't imagine how some women wait tables or do other jobs on their feet throughout pregnancy. I've quit taking baths since it's so cumbersome to get in and out with the big belly. Oh well..just 7 more weeks! I got the hip pain early on but this didn't start 'till recently, so you should be safe for awhile!

One thing I'm wondering is if it has to do with the fact that she turned head down recently? Maybe what I'm feeling is pressure from her noggin.

abbymommy--I'm glad you said that about the yellow cm because I was starting to get nervous! I've had that throughout the pregnancy.

Nicole: I use an anti-frizz serum and mousse. However, it is not enough with this humidity. My hair is fuzzy already!! Argh!!! I'm going to throw some gel into that mix so that I have more control. It's yucky looking! I've never tried the Paul Mitchell condition foam. I'll have to look for it!

Nicole, my "babies" are 3 and 5 and we are all done.

I just love to read, and sometimes try to help.

Edited to add:
Trolly, I felt like that after Tyler turned head down, I told the dr that I swore that he was going to fall out, it felt like i was walking with a bowling ball between my legs LOL. Only 7 more weeks that is awesome. My cousin is due in 9 weeks, and can't wait

Best of luck

Cari

HI Aphex--I had the exact same kind of discharge and mentioned it to my OB (because I had also read about the amniotic fluid and it wigged me out) and he said as long as it's not more than necessitates a light pantyliner/light day pad, it's totally normal. I was worried too because it's a watery, clearish consistency but he wasn't concerned.

Hi guys.

I do remember with my last pregnancy that I had a lot of discharge and moisture down there during the third trimester. It was uncomfortable to walk and I'm sure it has to do with the baby being face down and so low.

My friend in the UK just had their baby last weekend. She ended up having a ceasarean at 7.5 months. Her placenta has aged? Not sure what that means but I know she mentioned before that the doctor's were saying that her sac was really thin. Did I mention that she was smoking regularly though. I'm sure that has an impact.

Its hot here too. I'm supposed to take DS to his toddler swimming class today but I'm so tired, I think we may skip it and go for a leisurely walk instead.

Hello Ladies!

Trolly- I had the pain in my pelvic area too,..which was another reason I was on bed rest. It won't go away..SORRY but to you. I know how you feel. It is just your bones spreading w/ a combination of the baby putting pressure on you. By the way I LOVE the name you picked out! It's almost over but I'm sure you won't think about all this pain once you have that beautiful baby in your hands.

Cari- my son's name is Tyler too. What is your son's middle name ?

Kristen- Hello!!! how are you doing today? You and Trolly must remember it's almost over and as Angel told me..."nobody has been pregnant forever."

Angel- I'm for you and I know you have that beautiful baby boy in your hands by now. OH I miss 'talking' to you!!!!! I can't wait for details and pictures!!!!

Mrs. Sarah and Viki- Hello!!!!!!!! Take care in that heat!!!!

Nicole- hey nothing is TMI on this board!!! We've talked about it all....

Abbymommy- Hello...glad to see you post and I agree w/ the BF. My little Alexia 'knows' her mommy and she just grins at me and everyone says she looks at me like she is so in love. My DH is so jealous. hehehe!!!!!!!

Hello to everyone else and those that follow!

God bless
Cynthia

Hi again,

thanks for everybody's responses! Hi Cyn... hope things are going well with Alexia. The heat is really lousy isn't it Viki?

I just got back from the doctors. I'm getting annoyed with my appointments. I'm measuring, according to her, at thirty six weeks and I'm thirty weeks along. She wants to send me for another ultra-sound- but I don't get the point. At 20 weeks I measured 25, at 25 it was 30, at 28 it was 33 and at 30 it is 36. In other words in ten weeks I've grown the equivalent of 11 weeks, not a big deal. I've kept my weight gain quite low, it is just size of uterus. I just seemed to start larger, but I'm growing consistently. My doctor can't seem to grasp this concept!! And, even though I passed the gestational diabetes test, she isn't convinced I'm "out of the woods". Oh come on!! There also isn't any correlation between measuring large and diabetes!! Larger baby yes, but not uterus. Can you guys tell how frustrated I'm getting?! To top it all off, while ordering these tests and ultra-sounds, the doctor is still ignoring the orginal ultra-sound result from ten weeks ago that put my due date up about three weeks, to Sept 9th from Sept 28th. Wouldn't that be the explaination for those measurments?

Anyway, forgive the rant... I must be getting pretty boring by now. I just feel like the doctor is railroading me into some decisions that are not only unnecessary, but also go against my entire natural childbirth philosophy. I keep worrying what will happen when she delivers the baby.. will I end up with a cesaerian or being induced because I'm measuring so large?!

cheers

Nicole

Sarah~I have curly hair too. It used to seem like it would make ringlets without any foam or gel help, but as I get older it seems to frizz more. I imagine it is more humid down here in JAX than in Atlanta (where I grew up), but honestly it feels just as humid in both places to me. I will have to try the suggestions you and Nicole suggest.
