Ni Nicole, yes we are using this book. We do the exercises a couple of times a week but I get the massage part every night! I'm really not too worried about the pain, it can't be worse than a cesarean. Also, about 10 years ago I cut a half inch off my thumb in a rip saw and dislocated it 180 degrees. Had to have surgery twice and never took a narcotic pain killer. I figure if I can get through that without drugs, I can get through anything. I'll have to try the ice cubes behind the ears, it actually sounds refreshing!

OK Thin....I can't tell you how many times I cringed in that post LOL.

All is well here....going to try to beat the heat this weekend and get some rest. Actually slept well last night with some very odd dreams but nothing bad.

I'm only 14 weeks along...but I do believe I'm feeling the twinges of the baby moving. Feels like it did with my son when I had no clue what it was for weeks.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and is feeling healthy

Hi Mommies-

Not much going on here. I am starting to feel like a beach whale but other than that I am fine. I still feel really good.

Well- Jessica and I are off to Walmart - then coming home to wash the car- It will most likely rain after I wash it - but isn't that always the case- LOL!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Suzanne- OOCH!!!!

Good morning ladies....
We're off to meet some friends at the zoo this morning. We're having unseasonably cool weather (only in the 80's), so it should be nice!

Made about a zillion drs. appts. yesterday while at my check up. From here on I go in at least 2 times a week, some weeks three times, for fetal testing and drs. They're HOPING I get to 38 weeks (which will be about the 10th of Sept.), but no one is really counting on that! I'll be happy to get to 35 weeks.

Have a good weekend!!!!

Just checking in really quick. I've been feeling a bit funny lately - a little nausea here and there, and the food I eat seems to be going through me twice a day (trying to be not too gross). I'm getting headaches again, and sometimes migraines.

I finally learned to install a car seat. Boy, it wasn't easy... Both of our cars don't have the Latch system. DH needs a new car anyway, so maybe I'll convince him to buy it sooner.

Suzanne - You are a tough lady!

FL - People do say they feel movement earlier in subsequent pregnancies.

Blue - I AM a beached whale!!

Ellen - Good luck with all your appts. Enjoy the zoo!!

I'm feeling really good today. I went yard saling again, but only found one pair of baby pj's. There just didn't seem to be any baby stuff! But, it was still nice to get out.

Now, I have to start cleaning the house... YUCK! LOL!

I hope you ladies have a GREAT weekend!!

Just wondering if this means something is happening. They say you feel funny a few days before labor begins!!!

Congrats on the Car seat. I have the Latch system in my car and I still think it's a pain (Easy to get in but when I have to remove one I have the hardest time.)

Sarah- Sorry you had no luck at the sales!

Ellen- that you will make it to at least 35 weeks!

Hi Everyone -

DD left this afternoon with my mom. At first she kept telling us she didn't want to leave, but of course she did go. She was having a "I want to stay with my mommy" moment.

DH and I went to the movies and then In & Out Burger for dinner We are just hanging out enjoying the peace and quiet.

Thininmex - Hi There. I did cringe as well reading about your thumb incident.

DespinFl - With this pregnancy I do think I started feeling movement early because I knew what to expect. We are trying to beat the heat here as well. It hit 105 today.

Kristen - My mom and I were at WalMart this morning to get a few things as well. Thank goodness we went at 8:00am before the crowds hit. We were in and out of there. Hope you had fun washing the car.

Teach2Live - that all goes well until the 35th week!!!!

Katie - I was thinking the same as Kristen, sounds like things are starting for you!!!!!

Sarah - Bummer that you didn't find any more goodies yard sailing!!!

Talk with you later!

Wendy

Just sounded so painful! You are definitely someone that has a very good pain threshold.

Hope you are enjoying your Day!!

Just watching a little TV while DH is still sleeping. Watched the Butterfly Effect last night which was pretty good.

Think DH and I are going to hit the movies this afternoon and see Spiderman2. We wanted to get in at least two movies while DD is with my mom.

We are also going to meet some friends for dinner tonight at Claim Jumper.

Chat with you later!

Hello everyone. Haven't been around too much, been sleeping a lot. I also have bad pain in my pelvis where it meets my leg bone?? Doc says it's normal.

I wrote up my birth plan (oh, they're going to hate me!) Any suggestions?

Birth plan for Pauline

Mother to be: Pauline: Daniel

Support Person(s): Daniel

Due Date: August 21, 2004

Practitioner: not too sure yet.

This birth plan is intended to express the preference and desires we have for the birth of our baby. I would like our wishes regarding this birth to be followed, barring any extenuating circumstances. Should an emergency/problem arise, I want to be informed of any procedures beforehand.

No residents or students attending my birth.

No nurses or other staff who smell like cigarette smoke.

Please speak softly and keep noise to a minimum.

Please keep my door closed during labor.

Dan and I will not be separated at all during our stay at the hospital.

1st Stage (Labour)

I do not want an IV. If needed a hep lock.

I wish to let labor naturally, without augmentation.

I want to be as mobile as possible, choosing my own positions.

I would prefer to keep vaginal exams to a minimum, only when I request one.

I would like to eat and drink to comfort.

Please do not offer me pain medications.

If I need to be monitored it will only be intermittedly.

2nd Stage (Birth)

As long as the baby and I are healthy, I prefer to have no time limits on pushing.

I will labour in whichever position is comfortable to me and will change when necessary.

I do not want “cheerleading” or counting.

I wish to wait to push until I feel the urge to. My body has been built to give birth, and I wish to allow it to give it the chance to do its work with minimal intervention.

No episiotomy, I prefer to tear. In the event of a tear, please wait until after the placenta has been delivered, before giving me a local and stitching the tear.

Baby is to be placed immediately on my chest or stomach.

Delay the clamping and cutting of umbilical cord until it has stopped pulsing. Dan will cut the cord.

NO oxytocin/pitocin injections, I will deliver my placenta naturally.

Cesarean Delivery:

I would like to avoid a C-section if at all possible.

Dan is allowed to be present at all times during the c-section.

Please respect my wishes for the room to be quiet during the operation.

I would like to have contact with the baby as soon as possible in the delivery room.

If my baby is healthy, I would like to hold my baby and nurse it immediately in recovery.

Please pay special attention to our nursing needs in recovery. I may need some extra help nursing after the operation.

Newborn Care:

No separation of newborn from mother. If baby has to be taken somewhere Dan will go.

I am breastfeeding only. No bottles, pacifiers. I wish to speak to a lactation consultant if one is available. Please do not remove baby from my room when I am sleeping. I will be keeping her in the bed with me to encourage breastfeeding, and will awaken when she starts rooting for the breast.

I am rooming in with the baby.

I will be bathing the baby when we get home, don’t do it in the hospital.

Screening, Testing, Vitals:

Prolonged skin to skin contact with mother and baby.

Please refrain from weighing until we have had at least 30 minutes or longer to get to bond.

Baby is to receive NO Eyedrops/Ointments *we will sign a waiver if need be*

NO vitamin K, either orally or by injection.*We will sign a waiver if needed.*

No hepatitis B injections.*We will sign a waiver if needed*

No PKU testing... Baby's pediatrician will do that at baby's 1 week check-up.

*We will sign a waiver if needed.*

Hi guys-

Wendy- Sounds like you are having a nice weekend.

Pauline- Sounds like you have everything covered to me. That is great that you have only gained 10 pounds-

Well- I think I overdid it yesterday because my back is hurting today- I wore Jessica out. We went shopping, then washed the car then we went swimming. She feel asleep at 6:00 and sleep until 7:00 this morning- And She NEVER Does that- SO I wore her out! Of course she has double the energy today since she slept so much-

Kristen~ I had originally gained over 20 lbs in my first trimester. I've been slowly losing and now I am only 10 lbs over what I started with. Doc isn't too happy about it but there's nothing I can do, it's just what my body is doing. Trust me when I say the babe isn't suffering, she's so big and strong. She's currently got her bum stuck up in my ribcage. She also gives me a good kick occasionally to remind me who's boss.

Pauline, that is a great birth plan, exactly what I would want if I were going to the hospital.
