Morning Ladies...wow I've never been first!!!
Finding myself runnin to the potty more during the night...and waking with sore hips/back. Also had a scary experience last nite with a piercing pain in my lower right abdomen after pottying last nite. Scared my poor hubby to death until it finally went away. Also finding headaches to be my enemy. Other than the little things....I'm thankful everything else is going well and this baby is healthy. Seems odd in a way...we're celebrating my son's 8th birthday today with Spiderman movie ... then to realize I'm starting all over in just a few months. Makes me feel blessed though. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend....and a safe 4th. |

Chris - Congratulations, and
Samuel and Laura! for a quick weight gain!Angela - Hummm... you just might beat me. My BHs are almost non-existent now. TOM-like cramps are getting shorter and less painful. I'm really not doing anything to try to speed it up, except for walking at the fest. I figured I'll enjoy my last few weeks of freedom. FL - Remember this: pillow is your friend. You're almost in the 2nd tri!Lauren - Awwww.... how adorable! Talk about full moon last night. I would've never thought in a million years, I would be 37w pregnant and watching Lynyrd Skynyrd live up close at the Ribfest, almost getting trampled during Freebird. My little guy did not respond to loud music and heavy bass at all. I've been thinking what if he's deaf? Figures, after everything was all quiet, he started kicking up a storm. DH likes to listen to music really loud in the car, so maybe he's learning to sleep through loud sounds. I hope so... We'll see if he'll react to fireworks. If I don't have a chance to check back in later, have a safe and happy 4th!!

Morning Ladies,
I have nothing planned for this weekend 'cept a BBQ on Sunday, other than that, chill out and relax. I feel like since I'm at 30 weeks I'm on the 10-9-8 countdown to baby. All I can think about is what I need to do to prepare. In the last few days I feel like I've crossed a 'bigness threshold' with my belly. It just doesn't seem like it could get any bigger than this! I'm wondering how many long-sleeved outfits/sleepers I should buy vs. short-sleeve. For one thing, it will be a Texas winter so not very cold and also they spend so much time inside in the heated air that it seems like they would wear short-sleeves most of the time, right? Also, do they pretty much have to wear t-shirts only for the first couple of weeks because of the umbilical stump? Chris--Congratulations! I'm so glad you and the twins are safe and happy. Can't wait for pics...Lauren--She's so darn cute! Your little watermelon. DespFL--I've been having the sore hips too, especially when I sleep on my sides. I guess that puts more pressure on them. Fluff--Odd that he didn't respond to loud music but my girl is the most active when I'm the most still/quiet too. Mrs. Sarah--Congrats on the boy! Little Bear--DIdn't I hear you're having a boy too? Congrats to you too. |

FL, I know exactly what you mean about having to pee all night. Itsn't it frustrating when it's only a few drops? The pain you are describing sounds like a round ligament pain. It usually goes away in a few minutes. Lauren, your baby sure is getting big, I can't believe she's not losing any of that hair! Last edited by ThininMex : 07-03-2004 at 10:52 AM. |

Happy weekend all!
FL- We have a large age spread, too. Dd is 9, will be 9.5 when this little guy is born. Starting over will be such fun! I'm up 3-4 times a night, too. Between bathroom and just plain uncomfortable, sleep is a long time coming. Most of the time I end up sleeping in a recliner for a few hours. It's a lot more comfy on my hips and shoulders than bed is right now. Not much planned for the weekend. We'll bbq tomorrow and do fireworks in the street. I hate the big shows because they're so crowded. Much prefer doing our own thing and hanging out at home in the a/c! Probably go to the pool and swim some as it's going to be 100 degrees tomorrow. Have a good one...

Hey Mommies,
Does anyone know if Ketosticks are the same thing they use in the doctor's office to check for protein in your urine? For some reason, I thought they were two different things. |

Suzanne--I do think they're different. I looked up some sites that sell testing strips and the ones that test for ketones are different than those that test for protein.

Thanks Trolly! I asked my sister to bring me some sticks to test for protein and the pharmacist sold her ketosticks. It just didn't sound right to me and I have tons of ketosticks. Are you having a good weekend? Is this a 3 day weekend in the US?

How's it going? Yeah, I got a half day off Friday and then I also get Monday off...yay! It's been so tiring to work 8 hour days lately sitting at a computer (while my feet SWELL) that I'm really enjoying resting up, cleaning house, and shopping. We went and saw the movie Saved Friday and it was hilarious. I guess you're a long ways from a theater though.

Hi girls!
I got my BFP yesterday after about 6 mos ttc. I'd like to join your group if that's OK. I'll give you a little rundown on me...I'm Amy. I have one dd Juliana (10/5/01) and a dh of nearly 10 years. Plus way too many pets. I started Atkins 7/9/03. My Atkinsversary is this Friday!!! I hate to admit this, but I'm terrified of gaining a bunch of weight. My first pg I only gained about 15 lbs and ended up 10 lbs less than my pre-pg at my 6wk check up. Of course, I started out at about 175 that time around. I know I eat much healthier now than I ever have before. I just keep thinking about how the only thing I could hold down for months of m/s was cheese sandwiches on white bread... breakfast, lunch and dinner...everyday for weeks and weeks... I never want to see another cheese sandwich for as long as I live. ![]()

Welcome and Congratulations AmyJuli! Whoever starts the thread tomorrow will add you to the list. How tall are you? Your stats are very similar to mine. I started my last pregnancy at 173 , gained 20 lbs, and weighed 165 two days after delivery. (Then I found out I was hypothyroid...) This time, I started at 134 and I have already gained 27 lbs. I'm not happy about it but at least I know how to lose the weight this time.
Most of the women on this thread gave up on low carb eating when morning sickness hit. All I could eat were carbs for 17 weeks. Surprisingly, I didn't gain much weight until I was able to eat protein, then I gained a bunch. There are a couple of women who have done a great job not gaining, maybe they have some advice for you. The weekend threads are usually slow but we get really chatty during the week. Saludos, Suzanne. |

Hey Ladies!
I tell you never enough time in the day! The kiddos are doing extremely well, they are one day away from regaining their birth weights. The experienced premmie Mammas tell me that once that happens, they tend to gain rather quickly But we also figure that it will be actually their due date before they will be big enough to bring home. Once they are big enough to breatfeed at the actual breast, I will be a cherring then! Since I have never gotten to hold either of them. We just take it one day at a time and feel so grateful that they are actually the biggest & healthest babies in the intensive care premmie side. To all you Moms that have had C- sections Its killing me! When does it get better? And to think...I am STILL considering a tummy tuck I am also below pre pregnancy weight ![]()

Chris, I am so glad to hear that the twins are doing well. It must be breaking your heart not to be able to hold them yet. Which way did they cut you? I had a transverse (bikini cut). It took a couple of weeks after my cesarean to start feeling like I wasn't going to split open. The first week is the worst, you should improve daily from here on out. And the more you move around, the faster you'll feel better. Try to get out and walk if you have time. How's the pumping going? What type of pump are you using?
