I go for the first ultrasound/sonagram this coming Wednesday. I don't remember which it is... Guess I'll be surprised!

I really enjoy reading everyones post.. Very supportive. Glad I can be a small part of it!

Hi Dierdre! Sorry to hear that you are sick. It got me really bad this time around and lasted 17 weeks. No puking, just feeling sick all day long. I don't have any helpful suggestions. A sonagram is the same thing as an ultrasound, it is so exciting to see the baby for the first time.

Hi to all who follow! Gotta go exercise before I feel lazy.

Saludos,

Can't wait to get over this tiredness....still ending up in bed at 8pm and feel like life is passing me by. All I do is work and sleep LOL, it's getting old.

*knock*knock*knock*

Mind if I come in and join you all? I just found out I'm pregnant and I need ya'lls wisdom and advice!!

I've been on Atkins for over 2 years - lost 91 pounds up until this past week. I don't want to go overboard b/c I'm pregnant so my plan is to up my fruits & veggies, go for leaner meats, add some maintenance type carbs (brown rice, whole grain pasta in moderation) and (of course) take my folic acid, vitamins, etc.

This week I go to my doctor for official confirmation and I'll talk to her about my diet and recommended gain amount. Do you all have any tips on how that conversation should go?

Thanks!!! I look forward to hanging out with you all!

Welcome MissGigl, WTG on the weight loss! I don't have any experience doing LC while pregnant. I conceived 2 days after I met goal and was eating 70 to 100 gms of carbs per day. As soon as I started having morning sickness, all I could eat were carbs However, I didn't gain much weight during that time. I think because I was only eating carbs and very little protein or fat. As soon as I felt better and started adding in the protein, I started gaining weight. It would have helped if I had controlled my carb intake a little bit when I started on the protein....There are other women who post here who have better luck doing LC while pregnant. It's kind of slow on the weekends but we are pretty lively during the week.

Saludos,

Suzanne

good saturday Ladies!

Miss Gigl

I never had any luck following LC in the beginning, I too had so many food adversions and severe morning sickness for the first 24 weeks, now things are better and I slowly went back to LCing, only to fail a glucose test

So now I do LC to control my blood sugars, which stay in the normal ranges

I also had to start eating more proteins and fats to get the babies´ weights up, which I find out wed, how sucessful that is.

I also need to find out if having BHs 10-20 times a day is normal, I am sure it will be, after all that is the typical answer I always get- NORMAL

DesperateInFL~ Oh, the body pillow is awesome! I would die without mine.

Miss Gigl~ Welcome! I am another one who didn't stick low carb when I got pregnant. I was low carbing at first when I didn't know I was preggo and the scale was going up up up! So frustrating! Some days I eat everything in sight, some days I eat like a normal person (whatever that is!) My blood sugars have been normal the whole time which is weird because I am hypoglycemic. I love slurpees right now and peaches.

What bothers me a bit is I keep losing weight even though I eat a lot. If I was eating this and not preggo I'd weigh a ton by now I am sure. I hopped on the scale and my sig should read 11 lbs. I think I gained a lot in the beginning. (didn't weigh until 20 weeks) and it's starting to even out. Lump is healthy though.

Happy Saturday!

Welcome MissGigl! I remember you from the Cent. Club. Glad to hear that life is treating you so well these days! I wasn't able to follow LC during my first trimester. I was so sicky that anything even resembling a veggie or meat was gross. Now, as I approach 3rd trimester, things are a little easier. I am still not eating LC, but I am at least finally able to do some portion control and eat more veggies.

We're having a quiet day at home. One of dd's friends was going to come over but never came, so dd is kind of sad and wishing her friend were here! Hope she shows up!

Hi guys!!! I hope you are all having a good weekend!

Miss Gigl: and CONGRATULATIONS!!! I also have had no luck LCing. M/S is nasty stuff and the only thing that helped me was carbs. However, I'm 18 weeks and still haven't gained any weight, so everything seems to be okay.

Not much new here. I went yard saling again today, but didn't find much. I got a Graco navy blue plaid diaper bag (almost new!) and 2 cream colored crib sheets. I got bored to easily today, so I didn't stay out long.

Hi ladies.

Boy this week was H E double hockey sticks for me.

The morning sickeness came on strong. I ended up throwing up 12 times in less than 8 hours on Wednesday and couldn't keep anything, not even liquids down. My husband called the nurse hotline and they left a note for the doctor the next morning to get me some medicine so I would quit throwing up. Well, the doctor didn't call in the prescription until 5pm the next day. I continued the throwing up and my husband went to work at 4pm, so I had to wait till he got home to get some of the meds in me. They worked. Although, I was very weak and getting dehydrated. I had to miss two nights of work. So, of course everyone was suspicious and now the whole office knows. Oh well, I guess they were gonna find out sooner or later.

I sure can tell when the medicine is wearing off though. I have to take it every 8 hours and I'm still struggling when I wake up to get going. I had the dry heaves yesterday when I woke up...not fun. I've also got awful heartburn ALL the time. The only thing I can take is Rolaids or Tums, because anything stronger evidently doesn't mix well with the nausia medicine. But they only last like 10 minutes...but they do take the edge off when it gets really bad. It feels like I have a ball of fire in the back of my throat. Unfortunately, I think that the carbs I've been eating have been making the heartburn worse, but I cannot stomach meat and veggies. Although, I was able to get down a hamburger yesterday, but it was drowned in mayo and pickle slices....I'm sure the pickles didn't help much with the heartburn either...but that was the only way it was going down.

I've now got severe constipation now too. I tried a big glass of prune juice yesterday and I think it just added to the nausia. I feel like I have to go all the time, but it's like it is stuck. Anybody have any advice....I'm leary of stool softeners, because those have made me feel ill when I wasn't already feeling ill in the past. I sure hope this gets better soon. This wasn't my idea of morning sickness I tell ya. This is more like all day sickness.

On a good note. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and she determined that I am in my seventh week (Tuesday will start the eighth week) and will be due on February 8, 2005. Hopefully, this week will be better for all of us.

Amy

Hey Girls..I am sorry I just posted a picture and didnt have time for anything else.

Seems like you all are coming along very well. I have been so busy w/ Emily that I barely have time to post. But one good thing is that she is in bed at 8:30 pm almost every night and sleeps through the night.

So I do get a little bit of me time.

Anyways..take care

Sinn, she is just too cute! I remember how hard it was to get a photo of a smile at that age.

Amy, sorry I didn't mention that it lasts all day. I don't know why they call it "morning" sickness. It sounds like you have a really bad case; I only puked once this time around. The dehydration can be a problem, I am glad you have some medication that is working.

Happy Father's Day to all the men behind the good women on this board!

We are taking off for a few days to finalize exactly where I am going to have a home birth (we are too far from a hospital). A friend is loaning us her house for the next week to use as a base while we check out rentals. The house where we are staying is so cool--right on the ocean on a rocky coast line with waves splashing up through blow holes right next to the swimming pool...gourmet kitchen, walking distance to restaurants, swimming beach, 24 hour electricity....LOL This will be a real vacation for us.

This is where you can find me for the next 4 days....

I'll check in from the internet cafe.

Hasta luego,

Suzanne

Sinn- I agree, she is sooo cute!

Suz- Whahhh I wanna stay also! What a great space!

Amy- Been there done that, it sucks biggggg time I had to do 3 different types of meds to find one that works, Hopefully it will go away on its own. Taking the med last thing at night seems to help for the following morning.
Sorry no advice ..besides stay close to a toilet

Gahh- I led a boring life, no news is good news eh?

Happy Father's Day All!

Well, I feel terrible. I don't know why morning (and evening) sickness caught me so much by surprise. We're told to expect it. I just about tossed my (LC) cookies just smelling DH's coffee this AM. Of course, I still need some amount of caffeine, so had a Diet Coke. I do all the cooking, and can't stand to open the fridge, so I have a feeling DH will be losing some weight if this keeps up. Or he will just eat nuts for awhile.

Sinnrah: Emily is adorable! What a cute smile!
Suzanne: Oh, that looks like paradise! I love the pool!
Amy: I can relate, girl. It sounds like I don't have it quite so bad (yet). My mom told me she was sick for 8 months through all her pregnancies! I hope it's not hereditary. What did your doc prescribe?
LAPrettyGirl: I am eating peaches (when I can eat) like crazy too! And slurpees sound GREAT! Thanks for the suggestion...
Miss Gigl: 91 lbs. lost is super, Congrats! I am TRYING to stay relatively LC, or at least low sugar, but now that I am constantly queasy all my good intentions are going out the window. Like Suzanne, I barely reached goal then got my BFP.
Mrs Sarah: 18 weeks and no weight gain? That is amazing! We have tons of yard sales around here during the summer. I told my DH about crib styles and he said "Well you know we're going to buy used, right?" Well, I did NOT want a used crib or carseat. I have seen my friend's kids vomit too many times to want some stuff used, LOL. Everything else would be fine, though. Maybe I'll change my mind.
DinFL: Good luck on the body pillow search.
RedJewel: I have been a little worried about the GD test too. It's still a long ways off for me, but I was told to carbo load a few days before if possible! We'll see!

Hi ladies!

Amy: Oh believe me, you have my sympathy. It's amazing how morning sickness never seems to only be in the morning. I had all day sickness too, and it was horrid! I didn't throw up as much as you did, maybe once a day or so, but I felt like I could hurl any second. It lasted until about 17 weeks for me. Just this week I have been feeling better. So, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Even if you are throwing up, make sure you drink some water. Juices often make nausea worse, especially if you take your vitamins with them. A good book to get is "The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy". Not only is it hilarious, but it gives you the inside scoop on all the cruddy stuff you don't hear from your doctor. I got my copy at Babies R Us. It's definitely worth the read.

MadameX: I felt the same way about used stuff too, but have changed my mind now. I have a used crib that I will deep clean before using it. I also bought a used car seat. I checked the web to make sure there were no recalls or anything and it's in excellent shape. I washed the seat covers and everything and it's just like new! Definitely worth it to me. But, everyone has different preferences.

Suzanne: I'm so jealous of your vacation! How fun!!!

Chris: Hi!! Good to see you!!

Tiffany: Little Emily is getting so big! What a doll!!!

wow, it is slow in here this weekend!!

Sinnrah- she's a doll! How is she doing? Glad you and her are sleeping through the night now! Doesn't it just melt your heart when they smile at you??!!

Lauren- howz kendall?

Suzanne- did you find a new sitter?

Red- let us know how much your babies weigh now, did you pick out names already?

Sarah- I can't believe you are almost 20 weeks already!! And haven't gained any weight!

As for us, we are doing awesome! Katie is BF'ing very well. We have her first checkup next week and can't wait to see how much she has gained. She is a little piggy! Sleeping all night except for 2 feedings and she lays in bed with us, otherwise, she stays in her cradle. She is my everything and I catch myself staring at her for an hour at a time thinking how incredibly lucky I am to have such a beautiful and wonderful miracle she is!

*sigh* I am sooooo in love!

Good luck to all!
