Good Morning Mommies!
How is everybody feeling today? I'm going to exercise for the next hour. Have only been power walking once in the last week due to illness and whatnot. Hope to see you all here when I get back. Saludos, Suzanne |

Hey Suzanne -
Glad to hear you're feeling better! Not much to report. Rainy day here, with two little boys stuck at home and at each other's throats already. It may be time to go see Shrek2 .I'm getting a weird symptom, tell me if you have any ideas: Yesterday for quite a bit, and then already once this morning, I've been getting these waves of feeling like my blood pressure is falling rapidly, like if I don't stop and put my head down I might pass out, also a little breathless. Yesterday, once I came home and parked myself on the couch I felt much better. I know I've been overdoing it with the fresh fruit (especially the nectarines, yum), but I've never had this dramatic reaction to a glucose rush. I think I'm going to see if I can get a BP cuff for at home. I also want to get a glucometer just so I can see what's going on. Maybe I have to monitor my carbs much more closely? What else could it be? I know, the logical thing would be to call the Doc. I'm not ready to do that just yet. Hope your day goes well. I have to take my kitty to the vet. He may be quite ill, we'll find out by tomorrow. Sad sad. I've had him longer than I've known DH (over 10 years). More when I get back. Hello to all those who post later! Regards, LizzyD

TGIF!
Suzanne - Glad you're all better now! Lizzy - I called the number but without the area code since it has changed a while ago. I'll dial 708 this time. As for your weird symptom, I'm not sure what it is. I know breathlessness is common since your uterus is starting to push against your diaphram and your lungs. Love those nectarines! I've been noticing I wake up a little shakey from my blood sugar being low. I've been kind of overdoing it with carbs too, especially with fruit. I have reactive hypoglycemia, and I've been feeling more tired after eating carbs lately. When is your next appt? If you don't feel well before that, I would definitely call them. I hope everything is OK! I am for your kitty. Since I don't have any kids yet, they are my kids (and will continue to be), so I know how you feel. Not much going on. I am sooo crabby. TGIF....

Good morning ladies!
Lizzy, I really do think you should call your doctor. If you are having blood pressure issues (either high or low) that's really dangerous in pg!! If it's a glucose issue, that's also something you need to get a handle on. Don't wait! Suzanne, glad you are feeling better. I'm jealous of you still getting to exercise so much. I was told NOT to exercise till after 20 weeks, and then all I can do is walking. I miss going to the gym and working up a sweat. As for me, it looks like another lazy day. I have a few errands to run, and then relaxing by the pool this afternoon. ![]()

I hope your kitty is ok Katie- Your are correct with your TGIF- Man I have been living for the weekends lately! Ellen- I am so jealous that you can relax by the pool today! Have fun! Today is dh bday. We had cupcakes for breakfast because Jessica could not wait for her daddy to taste the cupcakes she made- LOL! Happy Friday Mommies and Mommies-to-Be!
I am feeling a bit better today. I think the trick for me is to eat some fruit or something within about 5 minutes of waking up. Laying in bed does not help! I couldn't cut the cantaloupe fast enough this morning, LOL. Suzanne, glad you are feeling better and able to exercise. Ellen: Pool. Relaxing. Lucky You! That sounds so good right about now. I get to do yard work. Blah. Lizzie: Sounds like heartburn to me, but with the lightheadedness I agree, call your doc to be sure. I hope your kitty gets well soon! Katie: Amen to TGIF! Kristen: Cupcakes for breakfast! That sounds so good! Happy B-day to your DH. It sounds like your DD is a budding pastry chef! Abbymommy thanks for the GTT tips and sharing your birth story yesterday. Thanks for the well wishes everyone in the anti-morning sickness department. I think it worked! Kelley

Lizzy, you should talk to your doc. LBP issues during pregnancy are as serious as HBP issues. I had some trouble with low bp at the beginning of this pregnancy but it has evened out now.
Kristin, cupcakes for breakfast sound sooooo good. I had chocolate cake for lunch yesterday. Aren't we terrible? Ellen, a day at the pool sounds like just the thing. DH put our pool away since pica pica season is over. Yesterday late afternoon we went for a boat ride and that was great. Hi Katie! It is really hot and humid here. The wind has dropped down to nothing and the mosquitos are horrible. I am pretty much immune to mosquito bites now but I hate hearing them whinning around my head when I am exercising. Fortunately, our generator is running at 100% today so I can turn on the AC in my bedroom It's a good day to stay in bed and read a book--as soon as I finish the laundry! |

Hi Everyone -
TGIF!!!! Today is Madison's graduation from Pre-K. I can't believe my little one is going to start Kindergarten in August! Doesn't seem possible! Thank goodness the humidity is gone today!!!!! DH's family is coming out this weekend to celebrate is 40th b-day, but he has no idea. I had to make up a whole story to get him to go down to Primm for the weekend so we can suprise. I am looking forward to seeing everyone! Thininmex - Glad you are feeling better and can do your walks! I would say that staying in bed sounds like a wonderful idea!!!! LizzyD - Haven't had that happen, but I would probably call my dr. if I did. FluffiB - Hope your day is getting a little better! MadameX - Glad you found something that helps with your MS. Kristen - Sounds like a great breakfast!!! Definitely something my DD would do as well. Enjoy DH's b-day weekend! Teach - Enjoy your afternoon by the pool! DH is flying up to Sacramento next week for a job interview, and I pray that it works out for him. Wendy |

Teach - We are in Vegas and should hit a balmy 100 today! Although in Sac you can definitely get the humidity up there. My dad lives in Sac and works downtown at PERS (Think that's it). I was just up in Sac last weekend and then drove into Auburn. Lived in Meadow Vista, about 7 miles from Auburn for 6 years. I love Northern California and would definitely move there if the jobs works out for DH! We want out of Vegas!!!!!

Wari- I hear ya on wanting out of Vegas. Dh's grandparents lived in Vegas for years, and the heat was just brutal in summers. We've been in Sac. for 10 years now (moved up from LALA land), and love it. It does get awfully hot, though!

Hello Ladies......
Not much going on here...just got off the treadmill and now I'm going to get some well needed cleaning done and cook dinner before DH goes to work. Anyone have any good ideas for chicken legs? I don't want fried chicken though. I would love a great low carb recipe. Lizzy- I use to get light headed and I would call your doc but mine was dehydration. Try increasing your water intake alot and see if it helps. Kristen- CUPCAKES!!!!! Yum Yum.....I have been doing a lower carb but not strict induction because I'm trying to keep my milk supply up so I usually eat around 100 carbs a day...does a cupcake fit into that???? LOL......Hope you have a great time at the rib joint...sounds yummy!!!!!! Suzanne- Hello I'm glad you are feeling alot better!!!!!! Wendy- Hello!!!!! I don't see how you take that weather everyday...I'm sure Madison is so proud of herself and I'm sure you and DH are so proud too.... Teach- Hello!!!!! Relaxing by a pool is a good idea...I'm just too scared to put on a bathing suit right now... LOL Madame- Good morning...I'm glad you are feeling better now... Fluff- Hello!!!! How are you doing today???? I can't believe it is Friday already....OH yesterday Alexia went to the doc. she is now 8 lbs 10.5 ounces and 21 1/2 in. long....she is 95% longer than all kids her age and 55% heavier...so her weight needs to catch up to her height but she is doing great!!! She got her Hepatitis B shot yesterday and was not a happy camper....now she is doing better...she is sleeping now.... Oh here are some more tips for you mother's to be...this might be sort of long....SORRY!!!!!!!! 1. The old's wives tale to put a ticking clock next to your child's bed really does work. Alexia sleeps alot better when she is in her bed versus downstairs in her bassinet. 2. Hot baths, and warm milk go hand and hand for some GREAT REST. Alexia is sleeping on avg. 4-6 hours at night onces she has a full stomach and a hot bath..... 3. If you are breastfeeding....make sure you are nursing or pumping every 3 hours at least so your milk supply comes in great...now I'm a milking cow and am even pumping enough to get some frozen for when I'm away. 4. SLEEP WHEN YOUR BABY SLEEPS.....I learned this the hard way the first week or so...I tried to clean while she was sleep and do whatever else.....trust me...it's not worth it and a few dirty dishes or clothes never killed anyone...DH has decided we will only wash once a week and clean once a week....he does the bathrooms,...I do the dishes. (well put them in the dishwasher)... 5. If you have other children...cook meals that will last 2-3 days...TRUST ME.....also have quick stuff on hand...like ravioli or sandwich stuff..snacks..fruits...etc...... 6. STACK UP on household supplies so you don't have to go to the store that often...also.... USE ALOT OF PLASTIC PLATES, CUPS, SILVERWARE so there is less dishes...... 7. If help is offered....TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8. GET A ROUTINE...write down when your baby wakes up, goes to sleep, how much the eat(if nursing how long on each breast), what time you pumped or nursed last, what output (poop or pee) the baby had......I did this and by the second week I could see a pattern and could tell you when Alexia sleeps the most and how long she stayed awoke in between and it helped me determine when our bed time would be and that sort of thing...it is time consuming but well worth it in the end... Well that is all for now...if I think of anything else that helped me...I'll be sure to write it down... Take care ladies..and God Bless you all!!!!!!!!!! Cynthia

Thanks for the tips Cynthia. I'm definitely going to use the ticking clock for this baby.
I went to my first checkup yesterday. The nurse checked out my uterus and said to me "you sure you're 8 weeks?" Uhhhh yeah, I had my period end of April. She said my uterus is measuring 12 weeks so it means one of these three things 1) the period I had in April wasn't my period, instead it was implantation bleeding; 2) twins; or 3) extra fibers and chit in my uterus. So I'm getting an ultrasound on Tuesday morning. I have a feeling its #1 becuase my period was lighter in April but it was for four days and not the usually 5-7 but who the hell knows. Then she wanted me to get an early diabetes blood test (you know when you got to drink that orange soda drink and then sit there for an hour) because last time I was borderline and Daya was born with low blood sugar and then stablized himself and they wanted to see early on this time around if I might be. Other than that, I'm just feeling really tired. I got a good night's sleep but I still feel exhausted. |

Hey Cyn, thanks for all the good tips.
Viki, I hope everything is OK with you. How do you feel about twins? Sarah, hope your headache got better, I stopped getting them about the same time M/S went away. Kristen, what gave you the creeps about the teddy bear? I was thinking about getting one. I don't love mosquitos but there are worse things here in the tropics. At least I am immune to the mosquitos now. WTG Madison, graduating for the first time! Hi Wendy! |

Hi Suzanne, I wouldn't mind except I'm sure I'm going to be exhausted all the time. I'm sure I'll get used to it though. The only thing I'm worried about is what if is 2 boys and then I have to live with 4 men. Imagine my bathrooms

Hi -
We're back (briefly) then off to a three year old's birthday party. Kitty is still at the vet (for the rest of the day). They didn't tell me to fast him for bloodwork, so they're holding onto him until they can draw the blood. Hoping for good news. My vet is so nice, he's going to drop my cat off at my house on the way home from work tonight. This guy is great! Thanks for everybody's suggestions about the wierd/feel like I'm gonna faint - feelings. I bought a home blood pressure cuff so I can track it whenever I want (I've actually wanted to have one of these for a long time) and a Glucometer. My blood pressure is 110/72 (same as ever), but my resting pulse was 94 (seems really high to me). My glucose was 84 (should be 90-120, but not considered low until it's under 80). I'm going to test it several more times to see if I continue to be borderline low. I'm beginning to wonder if this may be a thyroid issue. Suzanne - what are the implications/complications from low bp during pregnancy? Everybody is so hyper about high bp I've never heard anything about low. What are the causes and treatments? Fluffi - Thanks, and I'm glad you're going to look into that MW practice. They're wonderful. They can also refer you to a really good doula. I don't know what I'd have done without mine. Hi Wendy, Kristen, Mrs. Sarah (feel better!), and everybody else. Cynthia - good idea about the water. I am going to up my intake and see if it helps. It's been very hot here for a few days and my body just isn't used to summer weather yet. Maybe I'm just parched (duh! why didn't I think of that?). Lizzy, lpb can affect blood flow to the baby, therefore it affects oxygen and nutrient delivery. During the first trimester and a little bit of the second trimester, I was feeling light headed and my pressure would be +/- 95/55. Now I am averaging a normal 105/60. Here's a link for more info:
Low Blood Pressure and Pregnancy Viki, I hope that if you have twins, they are twin girls! LOL thinking about the bathroom mess with 4 men. |

Suzanne/ThininMex:
I've got a dumb non-preggo related question for you. Been having an argument on another board about drugs in Mexico. A board member ran out of Paxil (uninsured as husband lost his job) and didn't have $ to get more. She lives in Kentucky though. I told her about online pharmacies and buying without prescription either from US pharmacies (with an "online" consult) or buying from foreign pharmacies (Mexico, Canada, Thailand, India, etc) where a prescription is not required. WELL, you would have thought I suggested she start shooting heroin. I was told that the drugs in Mexico were unregulated and unsafe and even though you buy...say...Zithromax which is manufactured by Pfizer...and even though the package says Zithromax and that it's manufactured by Pfizer who happens to have a plant in Mexico City or whatever (in short that it's the same drug we take here!) it could be "counterfeit". I think they are thinking about that you can buy fake "Rolexes" in Tijuana with buying actual pharmaceuticals. My dad has been seeing Drs and dentists in Tijuana, Ensenada & Rosarita (they have a house down there) for more than 30 years and has never had a problem with "fake" drugs. What are the laws on drugs and selling them in Mexico? I know you can buy antibiotics and other things over the counter without a prescription but beyond that I'm clueless. Do you know? Tigerlily

Hi everyone. Ack, what a night last night. At around 10 to 10 I got this horrible stabbing pain in my right side under my ribs.... it went on and off for an hour before I phone L&D. They said to come in.
So, I get in the car and they stop. (figures eh?) We get there and they hook me up to this monitor. Interesting thing. I could see on there when she was moving but I couldn't feel it. Oh well, at least she's still in there. Turns out nothing was wrong. He figured it was a ligament stretching. Ack. It hurt soooo bad.

LA, glad you are OK! That must have been so scary! Tiger, contrary to what most people think, you can't just walk into a pharmacy here and buy a 100 valium or percodan. There might be some corupt pharmacies close to border towns but it is really hard to buy "narcotic" drugs in this area, even if you have a prescription. I once had to go to about 10 p |
