Hi Mommies,
I was lurking all day yesterday. Still sick, think I have some kind of food poisoning. My symptoms are severe intestinal cramps once in a while, chills, and body aches. No puking or diarrhea. I keep feeling like I'm getting a fever but never do get one. So off to see my midwife. I was supposed to drive into the city alone today to take care of some business but I feel too bad, gonna ask DH to drive me. Tracy, in Katie's first 3 or 4 pictures that you posted, she sure is an alert new born. Is she always like that? Sorry I don't have the energy to do any more personals. I'll check in with you all tonight. Saludos, Suzanne |

Good morning! Where is everybody??
Suzanne: I'm so sorry you are sick! That doesn't sound fun at all. Hopefully your midwife can give you something to make your tummy feel better. Not much new here... same ol! Yesterday, I'm pretty sure I felt my first "real" movement. As in, I was sure it was the baby for the first time. It was so neat! It sort of felt like little jumps, sort of like a twitch in my uterus area. That should be it, right? I felt it several times throughout the day. |

Good morning ladies! I had another uneventful perinatology appt yesterday. Got to see baby hiccuping on the u/s. So far all is well, though I am starting to have some symptoms (swelling in my legs, cramping). I will get yet another level 2 u/s next week, then see the dr. in about 3 weeks. After that I get to spend most of July with my dr. or nurse practitioner. Starting July 12, I go 2 times a week for NST and BPP. It's going quickly!!
Suzanne, that does sound like food poisoning of some kind. Hope you feel better very soon! Being sick is no fun. Sarah, for feeling baby movements. It's such a cool thing to feel baby kicking and flip flopping about it there!!I have a very busy day of running errands. It should be a balmy 100 degrees here, so I'm going to try to get out early and finish early!! Ah, California summers.

...just checking in this AM!
Ready for a cliche? Yesterday I ate a WHOLE JAR of pickles in one sitting! My DH thought it was pretty funny, especially since he doesn't like pickles. I have heard that the old wives' tales say if you crave salty/sour you will have a boy, and if you crave sweet things you will have a girl. I wonder if there is ever any truth to those stories? Anyway, I chased the pickles with 3 glasses of CarbCountdown chocolate milk, LOL. Tracy, your last post yesterday brought tears to my eyes. I was just thinking how lucky you were to have your babe there to hold in your arms, and I am so anxious for my PG to feel more "real" to me, that I'm maybe not savoring the moments enough. At least no morning sickness yet, that would be hard to "savor". Katie is a doll. How are you feeling? Good enough to grocery shop, I see! I had to read through the thread from yesterday to catch up. Dar: Good luck with the fertility monitor. I just used OPKs, but the FMs seem to give you the bigger picture, and everyone I know who has used them raves! Also, I would get a new doc if I were you (or go to an OB/GYN). My period was late once (and I was not PG, no chance, and not dieting either) and they said they would give me a shot to hurry it along if it didn't show up soon. They first have to determine it's an annovulatory cycle. Kristen: 4 Lbs gained at 24 weeks! Amazing! Stephanie: I got "Exercising Through Your Pregnancy" by James Clapp III, and it deals with those who workout hard, like marathon runners, so maybe not the book to reccommend. It has extensive studies on the effects of exercise on pregnancy and the baby, and the outcomes are reassuring. I feel bloated. I think I should start taking belly pics, even though I'm no where near showing, so that I can see progress and it doesn't "sneak up" on me. How soon did you guys take belly pics? BBL Kellet |

Suzanne: Hope you feel better soon
Seems like I was susceptible to ANY bug around during this pregnancy.Sarah: Glad you finally are able to feel your butterbean - that takes a lot of anxiety off. Ellen: Yea! on the uneventful dr appt! Hope those symptoms stay at bay! Kelly: I had a pickle craving with my 2nd (a girl) - I would eat a whole jar of pickles too (they had to be kosher dill though LOL) - I crave strawberries this time around - So much for the old wives tale for me! Cyn: Great to see you and to know you an Lexi are doing well!!! Now you made me want some peach cobbler LOL Dar: I have PCOS and before they diagnosed me as IR my ob would jump start my periods with Provera (I believe that is right). It is a pill - they would probably do blood tests just to make positive that you are not pregnant and then you would start the pills. So there is SOMETHING they can do! I would not accept the answer "it will come when it comes" - there obviously is something going on and with you wanting to ttc it is your dr's job to find out WHAT is going on and treat you! Wendy: Hope you get that rest!!! Happy to hear you enjoyed the shower and you even got a few gifts As for me - I woke feeling weird and awful. SORRY TMI!!!! I had really loose bowels then started contracting again this morning. They were coming every 2-4minutes - After getting 6 within a half hour I decided to take the terb... it has helped alleviate them but now I feel like crap and every once in awhile I will have one. At least I have another dr's appt this afternoon. I am getting concerned with their intensity - I never have had the steriod shots, does anyone know WHEN they usually give those? I think I would feel better if they went ahead and did it.

Hi, everyone!
Suzanne - I hope you feel better soon! I had the stomach flu during this pg, and it was not fun!! Sarah - Awesome that you felt the baby move! Soon, you'll be able to feel it and see it! It's truly amazing. Ellen - Glad to hear your appt went well. Stay cool! Tracy - It sounds like you are recovering well. What you wrote yesterday brought tears to my eyes. I can't wait!! Kelley - Most of the old wives tales were wrong with me, including the Chinese gender predictor and the heart rate thing. I started taking belly pics when I could see a little pooch. I take it once a month. Cynthia - Thanks for checking in! French toasts sounds really yummy. Glad everything is going well! Darlene - Good luck w/ your OB/GYN. I hope they have answers for you! Wendy - Get some rest and stay cool! Angela - I am so worried about you! I found this on babycenter.com: Quote:
Please let us know how your appt goes this afternoon. Kristen - CONGRATS on your boy!!! ![]() Not much to report here. My belly is getting really heavy, and it's getting more uncomfortable to walk around. I'm finally going to tour the hospital today. I can't wait!!

On the BOY!!! What was your dh's reaction?Sarah: DEFINITELY the BABY kosher dills Katie: Thanks for the info.... think I will inquire about the FFN test and the steriod shots. If only for peace of mind The contractions have gone down to 2 an hour with the meds. My back is still achy from it, have an awful headache and have a "just don't feel right" feeling. IT IS ALWAYS SOMETHING!!!! I have to let you all know I usually am NOT this big of a whiner.... My appt is at 2:15 so I will let you all know if this is once again "NORMAL" pregnancy crap.... I really HATE it when they say that.... |

Hi mommies.
Angela, hope you feel better. Do you think you're starting your labor contractions? I was induced last time so I have no idea when they start. As soon as I was induced, I got the epideral straight away so didn't feel the contractions at all until I was fully dialated. all this talk about pickles and guess what...now I'm craving pickles!! Thanks guys Good thing there is a walgreen's around the corner. You know what (I may have already told you guys this) but I think I sometimes feel the baby move already. I'm only 8 weeks. But I guess now knowing what its supposed to feel like, I can feel it. Am I imagining it? am I going crazy...??? ![]() Kristin, congratulations on the baby boy! Be prepared for tons...of energy. I always hear that girls are easier. |

Good afternoon ladies..
Wow...so much time for me today. Alexia is sleeping away and DH has been w/ her all day so I got to get out and run some errands... I got my DH a outfit for Father's day and the shirt says,"Sometimes I think DAD is spelled A-T-M....I got it at Elder Beerman and I just loved it...I decided to do something small for Father's day because our 1st year anniversary is in 20 days... I'm getting so excited...I already know what my gift is because I picked it out last year...My DH got my engagement ring w/out me and he got me the "past, present, future" ring but I so wanted this ring I have had my eye on for months......well my DH promised on our year anniversary he would get the ring, since he got to pick out his wedding band he would buy this ring for our anniversary and yesterday we went to the jewelry store and I got sized for it.... Angela- YOU ARE NOT A WHINER!!!!!!!! Here are lots of for you. But, to answer your question they gave the steriods to my aunt at 28 weeks and I had them around 34 weeks. I think it depends on the doc....but my doc said if I went into labor anytime before 38 weeks she would give me the steriods....I would inquire about it at my next appt if I were you......Kristen- CONGRATULATIONS I bet DH is thrilled to death. Have you told your daughter yet????? Wendy- Hello! OH...how do you deal with that hot weather....today it is 98 w/ humidity and I am about to die...OH A/C take me away!!!!! Viki, Mrs. Sarah- HELLO TO YA......HOPE ALL IS GREAT!!!!!! Fluff- OH man......my last 4-6 weeks seemed like torture.... It was so uncomfortable to walk, bend, move, get up, turn over...heck who am I kidding it was uncomfortable to do ANYTHING.....LOL...It will all be over soon!!!!!!!!!!!! Take care of yourself! Ok I am back - the dr checked me again and still soft and just a little open. Basically they said to keep doing what I am doing - rest, tons of water and the meds when needed. THATS not what I want to hear, actually I don't know what I wanted to hear.... I guess that they had something to take these derned things away. They are really just very annoying, tiring, and make me irritable (on top of painful). Last pregnancy they had me on the terb every 4hrs (and strict bedrest) so I guess that is why I didn't have this kind of pain until delivery. She didn't think I needed the steroid shots since I am 33wks and haven't progressed quickly. I guess I need to suffer in silence b/c talking to them is not making these things go away or better LOL.... BP is holding steady at 142/82, so that is good news.
Viki: I have this ISSUE right now with an "Irritable Uterus".... As far as you feeling the baby.... I felt my first fairly early around 16wks, second a little earlier around 14wks and seems like it was 13wks this time - so ANYTHING is possible, especially if you are intuned with your body. I love the moving feeling (except at 5am in the morning after having to get up and pee and Michael thinks its PLAYTIME!!!) I am praying I get the epi in time - I will probably have to be induced this time as well BUT there better be time for the epi!!!Kristen: Erin was disappointed when we first found out but she came around after a few weeks. She even carries a u/s pic in her purse to show everyone her baby brother LOL - she even thinks she came up with his name. Jessica will come around Mike said he didn't care if this one was a boy or not and actually preferred another girl BUT I don't buy it What names are you throwing around or have you decided on one? |

Hi guys,
I'm just on my way out.... but I really need to vent. Are doctors idiots? I had my appointment today, everything seems fine, BP normal, no sugar in urine, a couple pounds weight gain in five weeks, which is normal. However she said my uterus is huge and I'm measuring 33weeks and I'm only at 25 weeks. Okay sure whatever. I told her that given the ultra-sound I was probably a few weeks ahead anyway and, from what I've read, those tape meaure uterine measurements don't always mean very much. The ultra-sound came back saying I was 22 weeks along, which I was at the time of my ultra-sound, but my due date was Sept 9th. That puts me ahead, right? Well, the dr. is convinced they got the due date wrong and pushed it to the 27th. But that doesn't jive with the measurements. I'm so confused. Then she asked if I had fibroids. Okay, she is my doctor... shouldn't she know if I had fibroids. Nope.... no history ever of fibroids. Then she thought gestational diabetes. But I haven't gained very much weight and I have no symptoms, except this honking big uterus. What is going on? So, I took the screening test and will hopefully get the results.. but this is strange. And annoying. What confuses me the most is that I'm not really showing. Sure my tummy is solid all the way up to my ribcage, but maybe I'm just shaped that way!!! Anybody have any ideas? I shouldn't let this stress me out... but I am so irritated and I have no idea what I should do next!! Thanks for listening Nicole |

Nicole: Drs aren't high on my list lately either. Have they done an u/s on you lately to check the amnio fluid levels? I know some women experience too much amnio fluid but usually its due to GD. I wonder why she is having such a hard time dating you LOL - did you have an early u/s (around 8wks)? Sounds like she is adding on 2wks where none is needed... strange. Why not ask for a biophysical profile done since she is obviously confused and has confused and stressed you out!! That way they can measure the fluid, measure the baby and get a better understanding of things!

Nicole,
I know that there are problems with too much fluid. I have no idea about dating because I am not sure when you're due. I know that I have consistently measured a week ahead but they are still not changing my due date. It sounds like you may need to get an u/s to check on fluid and growth and everything. |
