Hi Mommies,
Happy Weekend for those of you in the civilized world! Cynthia, congratulations on the super easy delivery. I can't wait to see some photos. Good work on the BF, too, just let her keep sucking you dry and before you know it, you'll be a milk cow. How's everyone else today? I've got an early trip to get on the water so I'll just have to skip my walk today. Maybe Eric will beat me with a stick instead...LOL. Saludos, Suzanne |

I'm feeling great today!
This hunger thing is getting to me though. I decided to try eating smaller more frequent meals and I'm not sure that helped, since I never got the satisfied feeling I'm feeling hungry ALL the time. I definately think I'm going to keep raps on my calories though till I go to the doctor at least. Does 2200 sound good for now? I weighed yesterday and I've gained 4 pounds in less than 3 weeks! And that is on top of the 4 I gained after going off the pill last month! I already had to get my fat pants out of the box (12-14's) and put away my goal pants (8-10's). Hopefully, the weight will stabilize now for a while so I don't have to go buy bigger pants! I swear it has all gone right to my tummy too! ![]() I also decided to let 3 of my co-workers in on the little secret since I will be exculsively working with them on the midnight shift. I figure it would be the best if I do get sick at work or have moodswings then they would understand and not get worried if I'm away from desk or going to the loo often. I feel good about telling them. I got to tell someone, but yet it will be a secret from the rest of the office for a while...and I can trust these three with the secret. ![]() Well, I guess that's all for now. Have a great weekend everyone! Amy

good afternoon ladies!
Great colors Suzanne! I also have the hungries both today and yesterday, for me it usually means a baby growth. Since at yesterday appy, they were only measuring 3 lbs a piece (doc said they were a tab underweight for their size) They need a growth spurt. She also said both heads were measuring small compared to tummy size, but Ernes also has a small head. Lets face facts here.. smaller heads really are good. She also looked at my blood testings, and said my readings were perfectly normal and I had lost 5 lbs since the last visit. She said not to diet, I am eating constantly. All we have left to buy to get ready for the kiddos are carseats, and a crib. We are only buying one crib to start out with. Cyn- How nice on your quick delivery, I will also need some of the good delivery dust! I can´t wait to see pics of her. Its great that nursing is going so well. Your milk will catch up with her, then she will be a happy lil camper. Guys, I did love seeing all the pooch pics. We used to have a Great Prynees mix, he weighted 130 lbs but a bit shorter then a full breed, loved him to pieces, he was the greatest dog we ever had, he had a really bad habit of chasing semi trucks, and did it once too many times the last time was on an icy road He was out with the kids when they were sledding. Anyhow to all

Morning Guys,
Happy weekend! It looks like it's working up to be a hot TX day here, clear skies and blazing sun. I'm going to the bookstore to browse and maybe pick up a baby book for Sophie so I can secure all those ultrasound pics somewhere. My first baby shower will be next weekend and I have a bunch of people coming into town for that. It will be all my best friends and then I have one in July that will be family and a lot of my mom's friends. Anyway, it should be really fun! Some good friends of ours are having a 1st b-day party for their little girl tomorrow and I swear, it seems like she was just born yesterday! Fluff inspired me to post my latest belly pic, so here goes... ![]() Suzanne--That's great that you've been staying active. Have fun on the boat today. metro--Congrats! I remember when I first found out it I was pg was the most exciting thing in the world. It's fun to let a few people in on the secret. I waited 12 weeks to tell people at work and it drove me nuts. Red--Oh how I dream of a doc's visit where I lose 5 pounds!! Cyn--Congratulations! I can't wait to see pics. Question...how did you know she wasn't getting any milk? That's a fear of mine, that I'll be b-feeding and the baby won't be fed enough. Maybe the bfding class I'm going to take will help ease my fears a little. ThininMex: You are so thin I can't believe it. Your tummy is only a tad bigger than mine is now!!! Gah!!! Still have 3-4 lbs to lose to get back to what I was before pregnancy, then would like to lose 10 more but who knows how long that will take. Not worrying about it now.
Unfortunately, when I start school the last week of August they've given me the farthest possible hospital - Scripps Encinitas which is 30 minutes away instead of the hospital 3 minutes away from my home - or the one 20 minutes away. So I'm feeling doubtful about keeping up breastfeeding. Can probably manage it until November though when our preceptorship starts and he'll be 8 months old by then so I guess that's pretty good. Feel sad about it though - I love breastfeeding!! Trolly, you will know if your baby is getting enough from weight gain. The dr will have you come in a few days after she is born and then a week later, baby should be gaining an ounce a day. Don't try to gauge it by how much the baby cries or wakes or seems hungry after feeding. They ALWAYS act like that with breastmilk in the beginning, they are insatiable, breastmilk is digested very quickly and their tummies are SO small and body weight so low, eating every hour is not unheard of for those first few hellish weeks. And breastfed babies eat more often, Jack still eats every 2.5-3 hrs during the day and every 4 hrs or so at night and he is 3 months old. Yes, formula feeding makes them sleep longer in my experience but I thought the benefits of breastfeeding were worth it. Tigerlily

Morning all!
I found out the hard way that sugar and I are still NOT friends! My DH went to Dairy Queen last night cause I wanted something icy and brought home a peanut buster parfait. Big Mistake. I ate about half and was immediately nauseous. Learned my lesson! But I did discover that cottage cheese with french onion dip mixed in is way yummy! If it is hot, sour, oniony, garliky, or spicy right now, I want it. I dread to think what other funky cravings are coming my way, I'm only six weeks along. ![]() |

Good morning!
Trolly, I couldn't see your pic. It says access is forbidden! ![]() Shandril, I usually hate spicy, but I've LOVED it since becoming pg!! Strange the things our bodies like. As for me, another busy weekend. Taking my dd down to my mom's house. She's going to hang out there for a few days since her school is done, but I still have a week to go. Then on Monday, my mom will bring her back to us, and my IL's will be coming. They're spending the WHOLE week!! Not really looking forward to that, frankly. It's my last week of work and I'll be wasted, but I'll still have to come home and cook and clean after them! Ugh.The good news is that they're both still doing low carb, so maybe it'll inspire me to be better in my diet. I've already gained too much, but I still have the hardest time eating veggies!! Just NOT what I want to eat. Even meat is not great. Wish me luck that I don't strangle my FIL!

I got: - Snugli carrier - 12 burp cloths - Baby jammies - Sponge bath thingy - Maternity shirt - Crib sheet - Misc house stuff It was pretty nice and I think I spent like 10 or 12 bucks in all... I hope you ladies are having a great day! |

HI Ladies,
I had a nice swim, thank you. The baby barracudas that live at the end of our pier have gotten so big, some of them are 2 feet long now. Not really babies any more. And there are a couple dozen baby lobsters that are living in the "lobster condo" we made out of cinder blocks. After making sure that all was well with the marine creatures, I swam for an hour. Beats the heck out of walking but there are still a few pica pica. Trolly, I don't ever go anywhere in the boats these days, I just send the clients. Tiger, do you have a breast pump? If so, how do you like it? I'm waiting to hear from Lauren because I got the same brand she has. Hope I made a smart investment... Sarah, good score at the yard sales. Hi Teach! My in-laws are coming for the whole month of Sept to help with Max during the birth. Ugh.... Shandril, the cottage cheese with onion soup sounded so good that I made some. It's too salty though and I don't have any more cottage cheese to water it down. It sure is yummy though. Chris, that's good news on your check up. I hope this baby has a small head. Max and DH both have big heads. Max's is much bigger than DH's was at this age--but that could be because he was cesarean. Hi Amy! Today we have a group from the local clothing optional hotel here for an introductory scuba course. They all want to do the diving part of the course naked. We think they will be very uncomfortable with all the gear strapped on to bare skin. After having a look at the female students, the instructor shouldn't mind. The owner of the hotel has been bugging us about this course for weeks. The students are from a big nudist magazine and they are writing an article about this area. He just doesn't understand that we aren't really keen on having a lot of publicity in a nudist magazine. Imagine the kinds of injuries these people could get--pica pica and fire coral to name a few....LOL If any of you are nudists, I apologize in advance for joking about it...It's just something I have never understood. |

ThinInMex, forgot to warn you about the salt. Sorry! Add a little heavy cream, it helps. Also, a little bit goes a LOOONg way
![]() As far as breast pumps go, with my first, I actually went 13 months with a manual Medela Pump. That thing has serious suctions and I got a great workout to boot. I used it at work, at home, it was great. And the best part was that it was free because I had to have a lactation consultation while in hospital and the manual came with the kit they use with the big ol' in house machines. |

Trolly, you look great! What a cute belly!
Shandril, how much cottage cheese do you put to a packet of onion soup? I think if I had used 4 containers of cheese, it would have been perfect, but I only had one. I do have a little heavy cream left over from the chocolate ice cream I made yesterday so I'll try that. Thanks! |

ThinInMex, I used about a 3/4 teaspoon to 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and that was strong enough. Eyeball it and don't let it get too dark looking or you'll gag from the salt overload.

Trolly- I knew she wasn't getting any milk because she wasn't swollowing. She just screamed and screamed...she was feeding like every 2 hours in the hospital and when we got home she was nursing every hour. Also....what goes in must come out and she wasn't wetting her diapers at all....called her pediatrian and she recommending giving some Similac w/ Iron until breast milk comes in completely to get her by.
Suzanne- I also have the Medela Pump but I haven't used it yet because the lactation consultant recommended not using the pump for the first 2 weeks...but I will let you know how it works... Not much going on here...I'm in the process of uploading photos after this post so hopefully I'll have the link today... Take care and God Bless you all Cynthia

Anybody have numb hands? I got it during my first pregnancy, but much later on like in the 8th and 9th months. This time I'm feeling it in the 18th week. Yikes!
It's mostly my third and fourth fingers. And it's particularly bad at night when I'm lying down. My shoulders ache and my hands fall asleep. I have to lie on my back or get up and flap my hands around before the feeling comes back, totally waking myself up. My midwives from 6 years ago said it was pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome. Since the pregnant body's fluid volume increases so much (up to 50%) it can compress tendons and nerves. To make matter worse, I started out this pregnancy 32 pounds heavier than the last. Any thoughts on how to keep it at bay? Hope you are all having a nice weekend. Hey Tracy - how are you doing? Regards, LizzyD

Hi Cyn! Can't wait to see photos! I got the Medula In Style but not the Advanced. I heard bad things about the Advanced. Let me know how yours works.
Lizzy, I had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands about 10 years ago. You described the symptoms perfectly. My doctor said that I could have a recurrance during pregnancy but so far I haven't. There is not much you can do for the pregnancy induced version since it is caused by increased blood volume. Try sleeping with soft wrist splints, you can get them at most sporting good stores. Bowlers wrist supports work well, too. It will go away soon after delivery. Trish, I am starting to get worried because we haven't heard anything. I hope you are too busy enjoying motherhood to post. Tracy, do you have a baby yet? |

hello everyone!
It's been so hot here lately. I went looking for a bathing suit but maternity ones are so ugly. I am going to get a bikini and a cover up for the lake.
![]() Amy: I got sooooooo bloated so fast when I was first preggo. I was freaking out because I didn't know why the scale was going up even though I was lowcarbing. This was before we took the test. The ms is the worst eh? I was sick day and night, when I went from hot to cold or cold to hot. I got preggo in Nov/early Dec. I worked at a coffee shop. *gag* the smell in there was horrible. Trolly: I get access forbidden for your picture. Ahh, I see now. Mrs Sarah: Score! on the garage sale finds. I want to go in the next couple of weeks but we already have so much stuff. lizzyd: I haven't had the numb hands and the pain since I quit working. I hated my wrists hurting all the time. Sometimes now if I crochet or knit too much they ache. Angelhope: I have the snugride for my baby. I've read nothing but awesome reviews about these carseats. They are equal in safety to the Britax but cheaper. They go for about $140 in Canada. The whole system with the base and stroller I got for $330. I am not to sure I like the pattern just yet but love the way the stroller handles and the carseat is so easy to get in and out of the base in the car. http://www.sears.ca/cgi-bin/ic_item....&itemID=121884

Hi Everyone -
Just got back from California a couple of hours ago. We had a fun time, but it flew by. The party on Saturday was great and all the kids had a blast. My SIL and BIL rented a jumpy jump and hired a clown. The clown was a hit and took over entertaining the kids. I told them that was money well spent. Did have a little sliver of cake, which was so yummy but that was the only bad thing I ate. I didn't have any of the cake at todays party, so I did pretty well. We are just sitting here watching the Lakers/Pistons and widing down from the weekend! Thininmex - Sounds like a nice swim you had. Had to laugh about he nude divers. When we went to Laredo for our honeymoon, a portion of the resort was for nudists. DH and I had no idea and ended up in the large jacuzzi that was in the nudist part. It was too funny! Amy - Glad you are feeling good. Redjewel - Glad the blood tests went well. Trolly - Great pictures! Your belly is so cute! Teach2live - Hope your last week of school goes smoothly. Mrs. Sarah - Wow, you got some great deals! Shandril - Your cottage cheese concoction sounds yummy! Tigerlily - Hi There! Sorry the hospital is going to be far away! Cynthia - I am so glad you had such an easy labor! Can't wait to see the pictures! LizzyD - Haven't had that happen! Hope is subsides a little for you! LA - Yes, there are some very ugly maternity bathing suits. Hope you find something that works! Have a good evening! Wendy |
