Morning ladies!! I stayed up WAY too late and we overslept this morning. I'm not that late getting to work, but feel exhausted.
Hey - when it comes time to drink my glucose crap, can I refrigerate it, or not? I don't remember if that's allowed or not. |

Good morning ladies!
Feeling really exhausted today. I woke up about 20 times last night. I just couldn't get comfortable. I'm at work late as usually but oh well. I'm about to walk next door to Bob Evans and get me a Southwest chicken omelette. YUM YUM! Oh ladies sorry to report this but I did make the homemade mac and cheese last night and it was delicious....... Hey Lauren- I have to drink that mess on my next appt too. To answer your question yes you can refrigerate. My OB said to drink the whole bottle within a 5 minutes time span 1 hour before my appt. DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING EXCEPT WATER AFTER DRINKING THE GLUCOLA. WOW... only 2 months and 3 weeks left of work and I can't wait to go on leave for 6 whole months.....I'm hoping I can get alot done while I'm off work. You know pre-baby cleaning up! Yesterday my son, Tyler went to orthodontist and was a bit disappointed because he has to come back one more time before he will get his braces off. He had them 1 year and 2 months so he is ready for them to be off. So last night he was bumbed out, so after dinner we went to United Dairy Farmers and ate cookies and cream ice cream. I've been dying for some and what better reason to go so I can "blame" it on him. LOL Well take care all! Cynthia

Lauren- I know I kept telling him it will be alright. He goes back on April 1. He doesn't like them in since he is playing b-ball because he gets hit in the mouth with the ball and he hates wearing protection in his mouth so he won't hurt himself.
But last year he kept getting hurt. It seemed like every other game he was bleeding. Oh well...I sort of frustrated because I just walked in the freezing cold to Bob evans for my SW chicken omelette that ended up not having any chicken in it....just mushrooms, and green peppers and cheese....what the ****!!!!!! Oh now I have to walk back over in the freezing cold.... UGH! |

Hola Ladies!
Cynthia and Lauren: So sorry you are both tired today!!! I slept a ton after I got home. Took a three hour nap, was up for about 3 hours (watched American Idol) and then went back to bed for the night. I'm such a lazy bum. Cynthia: Ack! Homemade Mac n' cheese! Thats much better than the boxed kind. I didn't get any yet, but I had cheese enchiladas last night and they deffinately hit the spot! Heidi: Lovely boy you have! Thanks for posting your birth story. Its so interesting to read them seeing as how I've never been through this before. I must admit I'm terrified of birth and usually its just best for me not to think about it!

Good morning all.
Nicole- Congrats and welcome. Heidi- Thank you for sharing your birth story and pictures of your adorable son. He is so sweet. Not much going on here today. We wanted to go bowling last night and we called 4 bowling lanes and everyone of them didn't have a lane open. We where bumped out. We had friends over and played board games instead. The childern played wheels on the bus while the grown ups played scene it. It was fun. I love to play board games. I can't find a babysitter for Valentines day. I have the worst time with that. My mother has a very busy social life and I don't have a mother in law (she died when my husband was 9). My normal babysitter just got a job and works that night. My husband and I don't even go out that much- but I really wanted to go out for Vday- My cousin bought us a gift certificate for the movies for Christmas and we still haven't used them. I hope everyone has a nice day- Kristen

Oh... I also forgot to report in my first post I have some good news. The begining of March my husband and I are driving down to Louisiana to see my husbands family.
Last night my husband was talking to his parents and they want to pay for the cost of the trip for us, my mother in law REALLY wants to buy a crib for us (we were planning on using a hand-me-down), and his mom is going to throw me a shower while I'm down there with all of his extended family. We were either going to go down there or them come up here around that time but it cemented it when they offered to pay and throw a shower for us. Only down side is I'll have to take time off of work. Not to mention there is this really awesome bra shop in St. Louis we'll be able to stop at on the way down. I have major problems finding bras because I'm such a big cup size and not a real large band size. This way I can assess nursing bras and will know what to order from them when I need them. ![]() |

HI guys,
So I went to Kohl's yesterday to check out the maternity section and couldn't find any decent jeans. There were a pair that were somewhat cute but then had tiny pockets on the back. Not the best look if your bum is growing! Anyway, have you guys had any luck with Motherhood jeans? There's one in the Babies R Us near my work so I thought about checking it out at lunch. I plan to roll the panel down until I have a serious belly. Heidi--Your little guy is so cute! I'm sure you're relieved and glad to have him home at last. cyn--That is an excellent reason to eat ice cream! And hey, it has calcium. How old is Tyler? Is he excited about having a baby sister? I've always thought it works out well when a little girl can have a big brother. Pfgal--I've never had braces before but I'm sure it will be wonderfully to be able to feel your teeth again once you fiinally get them off. Trish--I always thought you had given birth because I saw that pic of you with the little girl in your avatar. babyblue--How frustrating re: the babysitter. Maybe you could compile a whole list of good b-sitters and then you run down the list when you want to do something. I know...easier said than done finding a bunch of people you trust. |

Trish- I watched American Idol also...quite a disappointment as for as the singing levels of the contestants.
Kristen- If if can't go out VDAY why not the night before of do a family celebration. That's what we are doing. We bought some cookies to bake and we plan on going to the boys b-ball game and then take them out to eat. Then we are going to p;lay a game and send the boys to bed early for a nice candlelit dinner. Take care Cynthia |

Hi everyone!
Sorry about being MIA again. My grandmother had a "mini-stroke" a couple of days back which scared all of us to death. She is fine though and the dr's aren't expecting another one, they adjusted her blood thinners and she is acting mentally better now. She gets depressed easily though and I have been running the girls back and forth to cheer her up. Congrats and Welcome to all the new posters!!! I look forward to getting to know you all! HEIDI: Congratulations on a beautiful baby boy!!!! I loved reading your birth story and happy he is finally here! Here is my question of the day for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th timers: My bp is all ready going up. It was 140/90 yesterday and this morning. I am VERY concerned. My bp is usually extremely LOW during the 1st and 2nd trimesters!!! I also have been seeing the little floaty things from time to time (thought it was from standing up too quick). I have had PIH with my previous 2 pregnancies but it has always been towards the end. I delivered my 1st 4 1/2 wks early due to it and the 2nd was induced at 38wks b/c my bp was hovering and spiking over 160/110 - not good. WHY would it be going up this soon???? I have a call into my dr/midwife's office but I thought I would ask you ladies since I like to hear "experiences" over "text book" - Thanks - Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Hey Trolly-
we must have been posting at the same time. It's funny that you mention Motherhood because I was there last night. I bought a black sweater dress , a blue jean dress, a sweater and a pair of jeans. They were having a great sale. I ended up spending about 70.00. The sweater dress was only 14.99 and I'm wearing it today...looks quite spunky with my black boots. I feel like I'm in style today. I don't like frumpy pregnant clothes. I love Motherhood because you can put that stomach pouch on they have to add 3 months when you try the clothes on to see if you can still fit them throughout your pregnancy. I have a great pair of jeans from Motherhood. They look just like normal pants except for if you lift my shirt up and see the elastic front part. Hope you find some great deals.. they had a sale on mostly all winter clothes. The turtleneck sweaters are all 9.99. Enjoy your shopping! Cynthia |

ANGELA: Sorry to hear about your grandma! You are right to be concerned about PIH early on. No, I don't have any experience with PIH mine has always been low, but given your history I am glad you are being proactive.
I did a search with the keywords "prevent PIH" to see what I could find and I came up with many suggestions you might want to read, print out and suggest to your doctor to see what he/she says: http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/pih.html http://www.midwiferytoday.com/forums...?TOPIC_ID=4229 http://www.blueribbonbaby.org/pih.shtml There are many different suggestions to help with PIH there from calcium, vitamins, baths with epsom salts, dietary changes, wheat grass, dental problems/stress (which you've certainly had!), semen and evening primrose/fish oils, swimming or immersion in water every day, herbs....PLEASE read over what I've found and check them out with your dr. I hope you find something that helps! Tigerlily

AngelHope- I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I'll keep your family and you in my prayers.
Trolly- sorry I forgot to answer your earlier question but my son is 10 yrs old, I also have a 8 yr old stepson (my DH has had his son since 2 months old) that lives with us. So are house is full of men now....it will be great to have another lady in the house. They both are so excited to have a little sister in the house. It's so cute they speak to her and everything....I'm about to post a new avatar and the tallest one is my son and the other one is my step son. He is really my real son and I never say step son except when I'm explaining it to people who don't know...but I'm the only mom he knows and we have a terrific relationship. We've truly been blessed! Trish- congrats on your shower and seeing the inlaws. I would be happy to have a reason to get off work . ENJOY IT!!!! |

Thanks again everyone for the well wishes for my grandmother!!! It has been a stressful time, I think more than I thought it was...
Tiger - I was hoping you would have advice or great links - THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! I am concerned about this and I am going to read EVERYTHING you gave me links to. There are some very interesting methods mentioned. I am still waiting for the dr/midwife to call.... sigh.... I just don't want to go on bedrest THIS early - I start crying just thinking about it. I went on bedrest last time around 31wks and pretty much stayed on it until 35-36wks, then I was limited on my activities after that... I just can't handle it this time!!! but I can definitely tell something is happening. I don't have the patience I had a couple of weeks ago, I can "feel" my bp go up from time to time, and I see those floaties from time to time as well..... ok I am going to cry again. Thanks again for the links- |

Hi Everyone-
Welcome newbies! We have our 24 week appointment today. I think next time I have to do the glucose test and the Rh shot. I'm looking forward to the appointment. I have a lot of the minor pregnancy complaints, but overall I've been feeling really good these past few weeks. I'm fianally getting a hang of this new job. I taked to someone from my old job and it seems like things have been totally chaotic since I left. PHEW! I wish I had time for individual responses, you all have such interesting lives! Heidi - he is a doll! Thank you so much for sharing your birth story, this is my first and I'm struggling to wrap my mind around what to expect! Be well all!

evening primrose oil?
HI everyone,
I did a search on evening primrose oil to see what the outcome of discussion was, but going through a number of posts, I couldn't figure it out. I saw that borage oil had a mixed response. So, now at 38 weeks and no dilation or effacement, I'm wondering what the thinking is on EPO and if it helped anyone. Same for raspberry leaf tea. Although I think I'm not dilating bc the baby, due to her face up position, is not pushing on my cervix enough to cause any changes. Thanks for any information! I actually went to a black tie affair last night. I lasted an hour and a half which I thought was pretty good considering I was in high heels. It was an opening of a big mall, so it was really crowded. I think my biggest concerns were slipping and my belly that kept bumping into people. Anyway, it was kind of fun. I'll miss having pg as an excuse to leave anything early! Hope everyone is doing well.

Angelhope,
Sorry about your grandma. My grandma went through a similar thing w/being depressed after a stroke. It turned out the combo of her meds, and being on too many overall, was contributing to it. Then again, it's hard to not understand them being depressed at a certain point. Anyway, a little adjusting of her meds by her drs seemed to help for the time she had left. She passed at 88, so she made it pretty far, and it was six years after her first stroke. Good luck. Sounds like she gets a lot of support from you and the family which must help immeasurably. |

Alessandra: Thanks for the well wishes! Strokes run on my grandmother's side of the family (her mother and siblings all died of strokes). She was taken off her blood thinners when she had heart surgery and b/c she is a bleeder they weren't able to begin thinning down her blood until a week and half after surgery. She still doesn't believe us when we tell her she had a mini-stroke
All she knows is that she was suppose to get out of the hospital that day and then they told her she wasn't LOL - she threw a real hissy fit. Her depression stems from just feeling like there is no end to leave the hospital. She isn't getting much rest due to the fact that the nursing staff has to check vitals every 2 hours. She is just ready to go.... now they are just waiting until they get her blood thinned out to the proper levels.***Speaking of not getting rest in the hospital - for all the first timers out there - - If you are giving birth in a hospital you WILL NOT get any rest LOL... the nurses will bother you every couple of hours (morning noon and night!) to check your vitals, the baby's vitals, or I believe just to bug you. Just thought you all would like to know this and to be prepared LOL *** Still haven't heard from my dr/midwife office..... I think I will call again. |
