Hey guys!! Not sure how long I'll be here today. We're under a winter weather advisory and although there is NOTHING happening now, they've closed all the schools just in case. Daycare is open for now, but could call and close at any time, guess I'll just wait and see!!
LessCarbsMoreMe - I'm glad you got feeling better last night, what a rough thing! Re: Birth plans - I'm not doing one. Didn't do it last time, and not this time either. Kit - WOW - TODAY!!! Happy birthing, and can't wait to hear how it goes! |

first time on thread... just found out
Hi all - I just found this thread (still trying to find out what a thread is). Thought I'd jump in 'cause I am in need of some advice and support.
Just found out we are expecting...again. This will be our 4th. By God's grace we have 3 healthy kids already. BUT... I am immensly frustrated because I just started to really lose weight on Atkins and now I'll have to put it on hold. More than that, I am afraid to start adding carbs (being COE also). Can you share what your eating plans became when you became pregnant? How many carbs did you take in? And, lastly, did you do it on your own or did your doctor/nutritionist help you? I have yet to see the doc. I am afraid of gaining weight again. I gained 80 w/child #1, lost 40, gained 50 w/#2, lost 30, gained 50 w/#3. I can't do that again! I just got under the 230 mark and was looking forward to seeing those 220's. Discouraged? Yes. Even though Joshua 1:9 tells me not to be, I am really having a hard time with this! help! Thanks! cindy |

Hola!
Nasty weather here too, but everything is open so far. Icy outside and we are expecting several inches of snow but not bad enough to close everything I don't think. I felt my baby move!!! I'm SOOOO excited. Saturday night while I was lying down I felt a couple pokes and got excited, but then I didn't feel anything else. So I had myself convinced it was all in my head. Then last night I was lying down and talking to my husband and felt again. I'm not delusional after all lolKit: Wow! That is exciting. I hope all goes well with your birth... hope to hear details soon! Lauren: Be careful if you have to go home in nasty winter weather today!!! LessCarbs: I'm glad I could be of some encouragement. I hope the new arrangement works out great for you!

Welcome, Cindy! Congratulations on another gorgeous baby! I assume from reading your post that you weren't trying for another baby, so this is quite a surprise?
I wouldn't freak too much about weight gain, there are several women involved in this thread who have been very successful in keeping carb counts low and weight gain to a minimum. I'm not a great one to give you advice, as I've fallen completely off of the low-carb wagon. I'm not eating like a hog, though, and have gained 15 pounds at 23 1/2 weeks, which isn't so bad. At any rate, you shouldn't be in ketosis, but can certainly keep your carb count low and still have a very healthy pregnancy. I feel confident that you can definitely manage your carbs, and get completely back on the Atkins wagon after baby #4!! I've added you to the list - any idea when you're due and how many weeks you are? |

Cindy: Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy! How exciting to have number 4 on the way. Thats how many I'd like... now if I could just convince my husband that 4 is a good number too
![]() I don't think I can be much help with the diet side of things. My diet had to go out the window because of all the nausea and throwing I'm experiencing with my pregnancy thus far. I wanted to stay low-carb plus fruits, but that hasn't worked out. All meats and eggs make me sick. We'll see how the rest of the pregnancy goes though! I understand the frustration. I went for about 2.5 years unable to lose anything even watching my carbs (I was able to maintain if I watched my carbs tho) and finally was diagnosed with hypothyroidisim. I had about 3 months of feeling really good and started to lose weight since they got that under control and now I'm pregnant. I'm SO excited to be pregnant, but bummed I can't lose more weight! Oh well... it will wait for a few months. Good luck ![]() |

Happy Birthday!
to kitimat2000...and her baby.. ????
Hey everybody! I've been in invisible mode for a while, although I read the past few days to catch up. I can't keep it all straight, but I wanna say hi to Sylv and her precious little Beca. You really do look radiant.. mstigerlily is right. and *hugs* to lesscarbsmoreme. I'm sorry you were hurt by your nanny. I always like to think the best of people and try to build working relationships that transcend financial transactions, but some people are just out for themselves and nothing more. You have every reason to feel hurt if her friendly behavior towards you was merely a front. The lack of trust and crass payment demands were really insulting. It does sound like this new situation might even be better for you and your girls, though. Let's see what did I do? I went on a "psycho pregnant lady nesting frenzy." Cleaned out the linen closets, sorted through the piles of "baby stuff" that were accumulating in the crib and changing table.. Washed the car seat, car seat cover, baby sling, mattress pad and sheets, the bassinet linens and sheets, ironed everything, and... ...then proceeded to design my own baby bedding, because I "hated" everything I could find locally or that I could afford. So I sewed a crib skirt and am halfway through the bumper and the quilt with appliqued motifs. And of course, it matches the new rug and new coverlet that our bed has which helps since Olivia's nursery is in our room.My husband is still hiding in the cellar. Hopefully, I will finish up the bedding this week, so I can get Olivia's website online. Now before your roll your eyes, I *am* a web designer, and spend all day doing this stuff anyway, so it's actually not much of a big deal for me and I have a ton of relatives and friends who live far away. Yeah, yeah, I know... no excuses, I still am suffering from "psycho pregnant lady nesting frenzy" and am just in denial now. LOL!

I am only 5 weeks, due sometime around early-Mid Oct. Was 2 weeks late with all three so I expect this one will also be 42 weeks and not 40. ha ha! Thanks for the kind words! ps. our current 3 are all girls. Guess what we're hoping for?! |

Good morning ladies!
3Diva- you made me tired just reading your post. WOW! I envy your energy! Lauren- I think we are going to get the bad weather you have today, tomorrow and Thursday. I hope you get home safe. I might have missed this, but did you ever come up with a name for your baby girl? BTW Your dog is so so super duper cute! Trish- I'm excited for you. I know you couldn't wait to feel your baby move. I still get excited each and every time I feel my little daughter moving. Which is like all the time! Cindy- CONGRATULATIONS on the pregnancy! I'm not a bunch of help as far as low carbing and pregnancy because I eat whatever doesn't make me sick. Some days I do good and others I suck. I usually try to stay around 100-150 carbs per day. Depending on how many strawberry/banana smoothies I make. LOL Kit- CONGRATULATIONS! As for me, not to much going on. I had the wackiest dream last night. I dreamed I had my Little Lexie and she came out 9 pounds and 26 inches. The doctor's rushed her away because they said for her to be so long she had some birth defects or something. I woke up in a panic. I'm not sure what that was all about.Well I'm off to my dental appt. will check back later! Cynthia

Morning,
Well I sucked it up and went to gym yesterday but ended up doing only 25 minutes of cardio because of heart palpitations. The nurse practitioner told me that it was just the increased blood volume that caused this but it's kind of an alarming feeling. It did feel good to get moving though. I was thinking about going to get a pedicure but I wondered if all of those enamel fumes would be bad? Or am I just being a paranoid first-timer?? The rest of me feels so puffy that I would at least like to have nice toes. Also, what is the general consensus (on this board) about breastfeeding and low-carbing? Safe? I want to think that I can get right back on my diet once the baby is born. That would give me some peace of mind about getting the weight off. |

Diva: Holy cow! Whew... you make me tired reading all the productive work you have been doing!
Cynthia: Thanks! I hope in a few weeks I'll be able to feel him squirming around a little bit more regularly, but I'm so excited to have just felt him a couple of times! Trolly: Good for you! Thats great you did something. I haven't done a darn thing since I've been pregnant. Unless you count walking up and down the stairs when I do laundry! As for your other questions... I have no idea! Sorry I can't be more help. |

Well I'm back. Darn dentist cancelled my appt due to family emergency.
Trolly- good for you for working out. I am going to breastfeed but I still haven't asked my OB about being in ketosis while breast feeding. I do know that for a 130 woman you need to keep your calorie intake at around 2300 daily to breastfeed and give your child and yourself all the nutrients you need. So low carb and watching what I eat might be out...I'm not sure. If you breastfeed though generally you lose weight right away because of it. I'm glad you brought this back up because I will ask OBGYN but I have heard it was completely safe to breastfeed and low carb. I'm sure as long as you are getting your nutrients you should be fine but I'm no doctor.Hey I was just trying to update some things on my regristry and I found out that Target had the same baby bed we purchased except Target's is about $80.00 more. WOW we got a deal, I'm so excited. Here is a link to Lexie's bed. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B0000AA3KE Oh did I tell you ladies that my friend and I went back to Kids R Us the last day they were opened and I purchased Lexie 8 winter outfits for $24.00!!!! They were all Osk Kosh B'gosh or Levi's. Can you believe they make 6/9 month old Levi's? They are just too cute. Well I bought 6/9 month clothing since I figured she would be 5-6 months when it started getting cold and would be 11 months old when it wasn't cold here anymore. Hope everyone is having a great day! |

Happy Tuesday! Watch out for the double thread.
LessCarbs - I dont blame you one bit for being upset. You trusted this woman with your babies. She's acting like she dosent care a whit for you or them, all she care about is her pay. You tried to be upfront and she thanks you with lousy behavior. I think you are better off without her no matter how inconvienent it is. Cindy - Welcome! Trisha - Horray for movement!3Diva - Go you for being motivated. You are a wonderful inspiration. Thank you. Cyn - I'm having wierd dreams too... In all of mine I'm still pg though, DH has dreamed that he was holding her. Trolly - I guess moderate exercise is the key. I think a pedicure is a great idea. Sarah - Hi! I'm doing ok. Had a stupid spat with DH last night. Nothing ugly just annoyed with each other. Wound up in tears becuse the coldness between us was too scarey. I hate crying. grrrr. Hope everyone is well.

LessCarbs, I feel for you. A few weeks ago, after our nanny had gone home for the day, a young girl stopped by our house. She asked if I had any work and I said "No, we have Rosa and she's plenty of help." Well, she says she's Rosa's sister and that she talked to Rosa that day and that Rosa had told her she was quitting and going to get married. HUH? I told her I would have to wait and talk to Rosa about it personally. When she showed up for work the next morning, I was so happy to see her. She said she doesn't even talk to that sister, that yes she may be getting married but she'll give me a month's notice. And her sister doesn't have a hope in h*ll of getting a job here after scaring me like that!
Kiti--HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Diva--a friend just went to pick up my sewing machine from the repair shop. I have a quilt for Max that I have been working on very slowly for months. Send some of your energy my way! Trolly--way to go! I rarely even leave the house. We do have a mini gym here and I work out with weights for an hour every day plus do yoga, but I don't get any cardio. Hopefully I'll be well enough to swim out to the reef with DH this afternoon. Cindy==Welcome and congratulations! Trisha--that is so exciting! I can't wait to feel this one. RE Birthing plans. I have been dithering about this. I really want to have a natural birth this time. Last time I had a c-section because the doctor said my blood pressure was too high. After doing a lot of studying, it looks like it wasn't necessary--but it was conveniently the doctor's lunch hour. So now we have a new doctor. Since I am so much thinner, I doubt I'll have problems with my blood pressure (daily readings with home monitor are like 104/57). The only thing is that I really want to have my tubes tied. So I keep going back and forth between c-section and natural. One of my big considerations is that I want to be away from Max (my almost 2 y.o) as short a time as possible. Last time with the c-section I had to spend two nights in the hospital but I was 90% by day 3. Of course I could try to go natural and have a long, long labor in the hospital or complications, and be away from him for just as long.

HEIDI: Congratulations!!! A-HA! I had a feeling you were off having a baby. He is lovely and looks big! He barely made it to being a January baby.
Sarah: Sorry to hear about TOM. Very weird. Hope things are back to normal soon and this is the month that you can conceive. Trolly: Go get that pedicure! Even manicurists get pregnant, and if anyone had to worry, it would be them. Sniffing a little nail polish once a month or so isn't going to hurt anybody. LessCarbs: Sorry to hear about your childminder. It's too bad after a year of taking care of your girls all she cared about was money and was willing to leave you in the lurch like that. I'd be hurt and disappointed too. Sounds like your new situation might work better for you. Tigerlily

Morning LADIES!!
CONGRATS HEIDI, he is adorable!! I love the little hat he's wearing and all that hair is just soooo cute! Rest up, but don't forget about us. I'd love to hear your birth story. I went to the Dr. yesterday, I'm not dilated at all but my cervix has finally softened up, last week it was high and firm this week it's lower & soft & mushy! YAY! I'll take what I can get. She also said that BabyCass finally has her head down there (I'm thankful for that, the last few appt.s her head wasn't down yet). I still have this dreadful feeling that I'll be 2 weeks late or something. I started drinking my rasberry tea leaf last night, over the weekend I'll start the EPO. Still having tons of BH contractions and a little cramping at night. I'm just SO anxious to meet my little girl I can hardly contain myself. ![]()

HEIDI - HE IS GORGEOUS!!!!! Hope you recover quickly! Do you have some help, so that you can rest a little. (I know... A mother of a newborn NEVER rests!
)KRISTEN - I haven't done anything like that, but it sounds really neat! Have a great time! THININMEX - I think cesarean births are WAY overperformed these days, as are inductions. Not that some aren't completely necessary. If I were you (this is just me...), I would probably try to go natural, and if complications arise, then you already know what you're in store for with a cesarean. SARA - I completely know how you feel. (((HUGS))) CYNTHIA - Those are some great deals you got! TRISHA - It's so funny... You long to feel them move, and then they start to move so much, that you wish they'd slow down enough for you to sleep... LOL! TROLLY - I do plan on LC'ing while breastfeeding. I will just make sure to get plenty of nutrients, and I'm not going to restrict my calories. DIVA - HOLY COW!!! You are my idol! I wish I could sew, and I even have my grandma's sewing machine. I have to learn, since I promised her I would, before she passed. (Nobody else in the family knows how to.) I joke that she had something to do with this being a girl... That way I'd be pushed into learning, so I could make lots of cute little dresses like she always did. CINDY - I, too, gained too much with my previous pregnancy... (57 pounds, to be exact) This time around though, I've stayed with an LC eating plan (don't get me wrong, I screw up along the way too), and I'm doing much better this go-round. I just make sure to get lots of protein and veggies in first, then I work on getting fruits in. SHEREE - I'm so sorry about your nanny!!! At least you found out now, although I know it doesn't take away any of the hurt! See you girls later!!!
