Hey gals! I'm at work today despite the freezing rain. Most of the roads were 'okay', but not wonderful either. Yesterday we stayed at home and had a good time playing in the snow....
Mac had a great time wiping out on the sled.... ![]() ![]() The parking lot here is a sheet of ice, though, and no spots near the door were available. I tried to be a normal person and park farther away, but when I tried to get out of the car there was absolutely NO traction and I wasn't about to risk it. I got back in the car and pulled right up front into a handicapped spot...hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do! I DARE someone to say something,,,,hehe! |

Good Morning everyone!!!
Hi Katie! Lauren: Mac looks like she had a GREAT time!!!! If it EVER snowed like that here the whole state would be shut down for a week!!! and I am NOT kidding... yesterday they had schools in Atlanta and East of Atlanta shut down around 2pm b/c of "possible" winter mix weather LOL... It was basically just really cold. Nothing new here this morning, just trying to get Erin's lessons in order and going to start cleaning out some closets (oh what fun )Check in later! Wonder how Heidi is doing??????????? Thought for sure she would have checked in yesterday if she WASN'T in the hospital, so maybe - - -

Hello ladies!
OMG I haven't been on in forever because for some odd reason my account was deleted and I couldn't post but I've been reading post everyday. Lauren- Hello! You and Mac seem to be having a fantastic time. The weather here is pretty much the same! COLD, SNOW AND ICE. I stayed home yesterday too but I cleaned my house and hibernated inside playing Monopoly with the boys yesterday. DH was so happy to have us all home. He killed us in Monopoly. By the end of the game he had all the properties except the railroads. LOL Jen- How are you doing? Sarah- Oh I hope we get some good news I'm not sure what is going on. Laura- How are you? Okay! Here is a question for you ladies around 23 weeks. Do you have Braxton Hicks contractions yet? I'm getting them so bad, my back is killing me if I do anything for more than 30 minutes. Alexia won't stop kicking. I go to the doctor tomorrow so I will have to ask the Dr. is this normal so early. I've been having the contractions for about 2 weeks. Is anyone else breastfeeding for the first time? If so, would you recommend taking a class on it or is it not necessary? Just wondering. I'm so so tired today from all my cleaning last night. Oh on Saturday we went and got Alexia's bed and mattress. We went to Once Upon a child and got a brand new one that converts for 250.00 plus 20.00 for a brand new Sealy mattress. For a total of 270.00 plus we got 20% off that because they had a one day sale because the owner needed money. What a deal. I will post a picture of it next week because we are getting it Thursday. They had to get a new shipment in because we wanted a new one instead of the one they had displayed. It is so sturdy. It's thick oak wood and converts into 3 beds and has drawers underneath. If anyone has one of those stores I highly recommend it. I thought they just had used stuff until my GF got a brand new Pack and Play for 50.00 bucks from there. Her daughter is 2 1/2 months old. My DH painted the nursery yesterday and he is hanging the border today so we can put the bed up. WOW!!! It seems to be getting so real now. It's like WOW I'm having a baby. Dumb time to realize this I guess. Well I hope everyone is having a great day! I missed you ladies!

Hi Guys,
I'm wondering when all of you guys started to get too big for your britches...literally. I was getting dressed this morning and realized that I only have a few things left that fit comfortably and they were things that used to be baggy on me. I mentioned this to DH and he said, are you sure your clothes should be getting tight this early? ARGH! On another topic, you guys were talking about smoothies and I made one this morning with that Carb Countdown (low carb) milk, 1/2 banana and ice. It's creamy and delish! Pfgal--I'm so jealous of your snow! We rarely get any here. Looks like fun. Mornin' Angel! |

WELCOME NEW MOMMIES-TO-BE!!
Well poop! I had my 38 week check-up yesterday and was pretty disappointed with my internal exam. I don't know why since I still have 2 weeks left. I guess I was just hoping that these contractions were actually doing something ... NOT! I'm only 1cm dilated, not effaced whatsoever and Eric is at -3 station. *sigh* My BP was 138/76 which is on the high side for me but still within normal range and my weight went down a 1/2 pound. I went out and bought some borage seed oil and started it last night. I hope it works because I'm so uncomfortable there aren't even any words to describe it anymore. I'm spotting from the exam and I'm crampy today but I don't think it's anything to get excited about since the spotting isn't the right color. THIS BABY WILL COME OUT!! Lauren - Holy ice!! It's been a pleasant 60ish here lately but rain is coming soon. Still, for me, I'm FREEZING my tushsy off. I get cold if it goes below 70. ![]() Here's a picture of Kayla and I from the weekend. She fell asleep on me and Robert (DH) took a picture. ![]() I'll be back later with replies. Just wanted to post that real quick. Last edited by Heidi-M : 01-27-2004 at 08:16 AM. |

Trolly - You can have all the snow! We got about 3" overnight. Commute was a mess, not to mention....
My pants were already tight when I tested +. I'm sure it was bloating, but it never went away. Thankfully, I kept my fat clothes, so I was wearing those until just recently. Then all of the sudden one day, they were tight around the waist! So I had to buy pants another size bigger. Maternity pants still didn't fit right. Heidi - Kayla's adorable! I hope your baby comes out soon! Edited to say, OMG, I just noticed her full name, Kayla Elizabeth. That's what I was thinking for a girl's name! Very pretty name! |

Trolly - this is my 2nd pregnancy and I showed nearly immediately! I was totally in maternity clothes by 9-10 weeks!
Cynthia - Too bad about your account - what a pain in the neck! At least you're back up and running now. No braxton hicks contractions for me yet, I can't really remember getting them the last time either! Heidi - OMG that picture is just TOO sweet. I LOVE IT!!! I'm anxious t see how the borage seed oil works for you and how fast! Last edited by MrsIndpndent : 01-27-2004 at 08:30 AM. |

Hi everyone!
Heidi, with my second baby at 38 weeks I was 0 cm dilated, and about 25% effaced and was devastated. I had my first a week early and was hoping to go early. So here is what we did. Skip this, faint of heart... We had sex at least once per day, and I stayed still afterwards with my hips raised for 15-30 minutes to let the prostoglandins in the semen do their magic on the cervix. At my next week's appointment I had gone from 0 to 2 cm, and more effacted. But, I still didn't go into labor until my due date. But it is worth a try I guess Cinicalcyn, I HIGHLY recommend taking the breastfeeding class, and buying a good breastfeeding book too if they offer one. Really. I didn't take a class with my first, thought "mouth-nipple", how can it be so hard? But I ended up with lots of problems and wish I had more information when I really needed it - in the delivery and recovery room. I am the queen of Braxton Hicks but I would still ask your doctor about it. I get a few per day but I get more the more active I am. But, mine never hurt in my back. My back might hurt in general or get sore when I am on my feet, but if you are feeling back pain that is severe during the contractions I would mention that to your doctor just to make sure those aren't real contractions They say Branxton Hicks should not hurt. Well, there is a lot of pressure though and I can feel a real tightness, sometimes toward the end so tight I have to stop walking for a minute. But it really shouldn't be pain only pressure Maybe you are having some muscle and ligament pain also. I get a lot of pelvic floor soreness when i am on my feet sometimes or when I work out, and before I knew what it was I thought my cervix could be dilating because it felt like the baby could just fall out! Probably nothing to worry about, but I'd ask just the same. As far as the timing, I started getting them around 20 weeks too, which is not too early. They just intensify as the preg goes on, fun fun!

TROLLY - With my first pregnancy, I didn't show for quite a while... 5-6 months... This time around, I started wearing maternity clothes in my 4th month, but felt like I showed from the get go.
CYNTHIA - I didn't take breastfeeding classes the first go 'round, but I wonder if that's why I thought I couldn't... Long story... This time, I'm definitely going to, I really want to nurse this baby. As for Braxton Hicks, I'm getting them ALL THE TIME, but they don't usually hurt. I can just feel my belly really tighten, and it becomes a tad harder to breathe for a few seconds. HEIDI - That's a wonderful picture!!!! Makes your heart melt! ANGELA - Atlanta sounds a little like Houston (where I'm from) the very few times it's snowed (if you want to call it snow), everyone freaks. I guess in Dallas it snows once a year, so they don't get as panicked, but still we don't get anything in abundance. LAUREN - I dunno if I could drive on even slightly icy roads... I've lived in northern states where there is snow and ice, but I've only ever driven in Texas. Glad to hear you got to work safely! HOLA ABBY, SARAH, and KATIE!!!!

Cyn: Welcome Back - I hate computer problems... ugh!!! I would definitely attend the bf class, they give you LOTS of useful info especially if you run into problems later. Also check with your hospital to see if they have a lactation nurse on staff. At my hospital the lactation nurse would stop by at the patient's request to see if you or the baby are having any problems and to make sure the little one is latching on correctly (sometimes hard to tell with the tiny mouth of a newborn). The lactation nurse I had really made me feel at ease and non-stressed with breastfeeding. I would take advantage of ALL resources, you might even want to check into a LeLeche League in your area... they are GREAT supporters. Most insurance companies will cover a visit with a lactation nurse!!
Trolly: With my 1st I didn't "show" enough to wear maternity until my 6th month, with the 2nd I believe I was in maternity at 4 mths, and now with the 3rd I am all the way in maternity at 13 weeks (sigh). Its not so much I am sticking out its just my body shifting (if that makes sense), my waist is the first thing that gets tight and when pregnant I can't stand "tight" I feel like I am suffocating. I could probably get by with stretchy regular clothes or pants with drawstrings but I figure "what the hay, I am going to have to wear the sooner or later" LOL. I am just happy that the shirts aren't like tents anymore!!! My SIL is pregnant with her 1st and she was in maternity by her 12th week, she said b/c it was more comfy too. Heidi: There you are! I was wondering if you ran to the hospital. I am sorry you are miserable!! I will have to keep the borage seed oil in mind for me too ~ let me know how that works and what you mix it with!! That is a really sweet pic your dh took!!! Children look like such angels when they are sleeping Hey Jenn & Sarah!! |

Cyn: I found breastfeeding very challenging. I can give advice if you like, definitely take a class, buy books and see a lactation consultant if you can. La Leche League is good but sometimes they are a little extreme.
Trolly: 1st time I really didn't show until about 5-6 months. I never bought actual maternity clothes until I was 7 months (just stretchy pants and t-shirts. At the 2nd and 3rd times it was between 4-5 months that I grew out of my normal clothes. I know I was still buttoning my regular jeans at 16 weeks though this time around. The fifth month was the one where things really started happening for me. Abbysmommy: Good advice. Prostaglandins do the trick! That is what is in borage seed oil, so that works too. Heidi: Sorry to hear things aren't progressing. If anyone deserves to go a little early, it's you. Try the borage seed oil. I took two capsules in the morning and two in the evening. It only took a week for things to happen for me. Good luck. Tigerlily

Can someone please remind me...
It's been four years since I was first pregnant with my daughter and it seems I've forgotten everything :-) How do we count days? For example, the first day of my last period was 12/19. So, I know I'm 5 weeks and ___days. Is it 5 wks 0 days and then when you reach 5 wks 7 days it's actually 6 weeks? I feel silly having to ask this but I've completely forgotten. Thanks, txaggie |

Good morning all!
Lauren, love the snow photos. It is already in the mid 80s here and almost no wind. I had to turn the AC on in our bedroom so Max can have a cool nap. On the other hand, I hate being cold--I'd rather sweat than shiver. Cyn, definitely take the breast feeding course. With #1, I thought it would be so easy. It took me 10 days to get him latched on and then he would only take the right one. It took another week to introduce him to lefty. Heidi, great photo! We tried the sex daily to induce labor and it didn't work! But we had fun trying. When DH goes to TX next month, I am going to have him get some borage oil just in case. Trolly, with #1 I didn't show until 4 or 5 months. But I was at my highest weight to begin with and actually lost weight from m/s. I never bought any maternity clothes. I have lots of baggy sun dresses and wore my husbands shorts with elastic waist bands.

Tiger - What concentration of the borage oil did you use? I have 1000mg capsules. Is it safe to take two twice a day? The package says to take 1-2 once daily but I want to kick start things.
![]() Sex is a no go right now. I'm MUCH too big and too uncomfortable for it. I can't walk either because of my fluid levels being so high. The doctor told me to stay off my feet. Ugh. Thanks for the comliments on the picture. See how swollen my hands are!?! CRAZY!! Gotta get the girl ... I wish I had some of her energy!! |

Mrs Sarah - Have you looked at this thread? Are you experiencing any symptoms?
http://www.ovusoft.com/forum/tm.asp?...95&p=1&tmode=1 This web site also has a TTC thread. I highly recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility if you haven't read it. You were charting before, right? The author recommends your DH get checked after 4 months of TTC. It's cheaper and easier. I have a friend who's having the same symptoms as I did early PG. Her OB said high or low level of certain hormone (it was a 4-letter acronym) can cause the symptoms also. Good luck! |

Hey everyone!!
Heidi- cute pic!! I bet you are so miserable. Your hand looked really swollen! I hope it happens for you soon! Lauren- your little girl looked like she was having a blast! We don't get snow here. Flurries every couple of years and people get so giddy they wreck. Has nothing to do with the roads, they even make snow men with sticks and leaves stuck all in them because the snow melts so fast Silly.Thinimex- I am with you- love the big sun dresses and sandals! Just the wrong time of the year right now. I work for a law firm and wear alot of black and kakki elastic pants with maternity tops (with ties) and black boots or low heals. (love Motherhood) and also hit consignment shops- you get GREAT deals there! At home... sweats. I have gone up 3 dress sizes already I had my 20 week apt yesterday and fundal height was perfect, fetal heart tones were good and strong at about 155 BPM. I have gained 18 lbs, which for my height and frame isn't that bad. They haven't fussed at me yet (crossing fingers). Starting to feel baby alot lately. Mostly everyday and at least every hour or two. Feels like she is already rapidly approaching 1 lb. Haven't felt her much today, guess she's growing and resting. Daddy got to feel one strong kick the other night, after I prodded her for a minute- she protested loudly! We have decided to try the gender determination U/S one more time in a couple of weeks to ensure we aren't painting the nursery pink in error. You all need to check out JC Penny's baby stuff online when you get time. We found WAY better lady bug stuff there then at baby depot. We plan to buy EVERYTHING from there at one time rather than order it online. They have great deals! Anyway- have a great one all! Oh- BTW- Mrs. Sarah- I haven't been on in a few days- what's going on??? Tracy |

Tracy - I LOVE the ladybug theme at JC Penney - I am checking out the site now, thanks to your recommendation! I'd LOVE to do red for the baby's room, but haven't come across a theme I liked enough until now. SUPER CUTE!! Both our gals might end up with 'buggy rooms', hehe!
One thing - I don't see where you can get the wall border that they show?! I like a lot of the themes on the site, though...good options! Last edited by MrsIndpndent : 01-27-2004 at 11:19 AM. |
