Atkins and birth control pills?

HI,
I was wondering how taking BC pills has effected anyones weight loss. I have lost and feel great but I wonder if I would lose faster without them? (Which is NOT an option)

I wondered the same when I started Atkins. I lost 5 lbs a week for the first 3 weeks, then I slowed down to only losing 5 pounds a month. At the time I was taking Ortho Tri Cyclen. And I wondered if it was slowing me down, so I decided to ask my doctor about Ortho tri cyclen-lo, that has a lower dose of hormones, because it wasn't a choice to go of the pill. Well after I switched I still only was able to drop 5 lbs a month. But hey, I dropped 50 lbs in 6 months and had no problems keeping it off, it almost my 1 year anniversary. So it really didn't seem to make much of a difference. Would weight loss be faster without the pill, maybe?, but at what other costs... The rapid weight loss you see during the first few weeks, sometimes has you questioning when it slows down in the following months, but really that is normal. You pill would only be a problem with losing weight if you are highly metibolically resistant which Atkins talks about in his book.

Hang in there! It may come off slower, but if you stay with LC as a life style change the weight won't come back!

Thanks!I am also on the lo kind so maybe it wont be too bad for me either. I have lost almost 8 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks and I am OK with that! I am hoping to see my woosh in a few days after TOM is gone!
If its slower its slower, your right... the alternative would be a 5th child for me! I will take the slow losing anyday!

I've been on BC since my son was born in October 2001, its a very low dose, but in that time I've managed to loose 123 pounds so just stick with the program and hopefully BC won't be a factor for you either.
good luck!
