Hey everybody!
Hang in there, Heidi, sorry you're so miserable. I hope the capsules tigerlily suggests work for you. ![]() alessandra... what's wrong? I think I missed something, why are you worried about your baby? ThininMex... your life sounds very interesting. If you can stand me being so nosy, how did you and your DH wind up living in a remote fishing village of 300 people in Mexico? What's your daily life like? Wasn't it hard to be accepted? What do you like best about your way of life and what do you miss? I just find it fascinating. That's all for now. Today's my "Friday" at work, so I've got to buckle down and get this client wrapped up today. On the weekend thread, I'll post about my hypnobirthing class and let you all know how it's going. ![]() Hi Lauren! Oh wait, mstigerlily.. what was that website with the preggo pops and that wristband thing for morning sickness you posted about before? A co-worker of mine just became pregnant and she's miserable. I was going to pass it on. Thanks ![]() |

Hiya Ladies,
Busy busy day for me yesterday. I got home late from work, hopped in the car with my husband and we were off to a 30th birthday dinner for a friend of ours. It was fun, but I was thoroughly exhausted when I got home! Diva: What is hypnobirthing? |

Good morning....
Yesterday was so crazy I didn't even get on to post. Too much to do. I am so exhausted lately, but then when I try to sleep, I don't sleep very long. I keep waking up at 3 am and then not being able to get back to sleep. Well, the hungries have started. I'm still trying to be good and eat mosly "legal" foods with some whole grain bread and milk added in. Having a hard time finding things that are appetizing and don't make me ill. Have a good morning..... |

Hi Diva:
Preggie Pops can be found at stores but also ordered on ebay or online at www.preggiepops.com - they helped me a lot. The Relief Band worked for me and also for one of my pregnant classmates who has borrowed mine. They can be ordered on Ebay or www.drugstore.com or www.reliefband.com - a friend had breast cancer with chemotherapy and her doctor prescribed one for her to get rid of the nausea from chemo. She didn't throw up once! Heidi: Of course you can take borage seed oil afterward! It's just one of those fatty essential oils that Dr. Atkins himself recommends. I found my info about borage seed oil and decided to try it. It said to start at 36 weeks so I did but I had my daughter at 37 weeks so I might start a little bit later this time. I liked it because all it does is "ripen" the cervix. It does not actually start labor or cause contractions. http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/....html#Ripening Tigerlily

Not much to report. I drove to the gym yesterday after work and just couldn't make myself go in. I was exhausted, pooped, TIRED! It's frustrating not to have the same stamina but that's part of accepting all the new changes I guess. I went home after that and slept for an hour and a half.
Anyway, I'm packing up my clothes again and shooting for a noon workout; maybe I'll be less tired before the end of the day. Hi to everyone...gotta run to work. |

Hey ladies!! Mac is still sick so I'm at home today. Irritating, b/c she woke up w/no fever and seemed 'okay enough' to go to preschool. We carpool, so 1/2 way to work I realized that she was way worse than I thought - looked terrible, pale, sniffling, etc... I ended up just taking Dean to work and turning around and bringing me and Mac home. The doc did call her in some meds today, though, so hopefully that'll kick in!
I'm sort of happy to be here, although I wish she'd have looked so rough 1st thing in the a.m., b/c I would have just stayed in bed as opposed to getting ready, etc... I'm not feeling too hot today, like a cold is coming on. I certainly hope it doesn't get full blown. I'm just checking e-mails and am going to go lie down on the couch and do ZILCH! ![]() |

My life story....
Lauren, I hope everybody feels better soon.
Quote:
Hi Diva, here's the short version of my life story: I spent most of my childhood vacations traveling in Baja, later my father lived on the coast of Oaxaca, and I always loved Mexico. At the end of a short, disatrous marriage, I came to Q Roo to think things over. Went back to NC 3 months later, divorced my husband, sold my house and everything else I owned, and came back to Mexico with 5 boxes. I figure if I could strip my life down to 5 boxes, most of the "things" I had weren't really that important. I lived for 4 years in Akumal, south of Playa del Carmen. The last 2 years I worked at the dive shop there. One day at work I got an email that said, "I am a computer consultant living in Toronto. I plan to take some serious time off to do some serious diving. Can you help me?" That's how I met my husband. We discovered Xcalak, this wonderful little fishing village, during the first weeks we knew each other. We fell in love, found out the dive shop here was for sale and that the diving here was the best we had ever seen, and the rest is history. We live in the 2 bedroom apartment above our dive shop. On a normal day I wake up at 6 and do yoga or some sort of exercise. DH and DS usually wake up at 7. The shop opens at 8 but the employees usually don't show up until 8:30. Diving begins at 9 and lasts until sundown unless we have a night dive. I have a local girl who helps with Max and the house keeping 5 or 6 hours a day while I either dive (which I can't now) or work in the reception. My huband and I try to swim out to the reef and back (2 kms round trip) every afternoon. We are open 365 days a year so sometimes we end up praying for bad weather so we can have a day off. Once a month we go to Cancun for 3 days to do shopping, see my OB, and Max's pediatrician, if need be. The locals here are wonderful people and very friendly. I was fluent in Spanish before moving to Mexico, DH is learning, and Max will be bilingual. Speaking the language helps a lot. Just like people anywhere, what comes around goes around. Some of our American neighbors are a bit racist and don't get along well with the locals. But, hey, this is their country and we are guests here. I never did understand racism.... The things I like the best are the peace and quite and the natural beauty. I like that my son is being raised away from American commericialism and TV. We have a couple kids DVDs that he's allowed to watch. I feel embarrassed sometimes that he has so many toys (thanks to his grandparents) compared to local kids. The hardest part to get used to is that you have to drive 2 1/2 to 5 hours to buy a decent head of lettuce! Not to mention cranberry pills when you have a UTI. Actually, I doubt if I could buy cranberry pills any where in Mexico! And low carb is not popular in a country whose diet consists mainly of tortillas. We left a month before Max was born and stayed in a friend's condo closer to Cancun. It was like a long vacation with satellite TV and AC. We'll probably do the same thing this time. All in all, its a good life and I can't imagine every going back to "civilization".

Kinda slow day on here! Where is everyone???
Teach2Live: Ick! I had major sleeping problems/disruptions during my first 2 months. I'm not sure why, but I know its miserable. I hope you can start sleeping well soon! Trolly: Wow, I wish I had the stamina to just prepare to work out. lol I've been SO BAD since getting pregnant. My energy level was decimated and thinking about working out is tiring most days. Good luck with your lunch-time workout today! Lauren: I hope now that you're home you get a nice restful day and can fight off the beginings of that cold you might be coming down with. I'm looking forward to a lazy weekend. DH and I only have plans for Sunday. I'm hoping a weekend of lots of sleep will help me finish getting rid of this nasty cold! Red: I'm sorry that your pill isn't working anymore Thats a bummer. I understand that dread of eating anything... but also the misery of not eating anything. You just can win when you are that sick! I was so bad for a while I couldn't drink anything and keep it down either. Since I've been in my second trimester I only get sick about once a day (usually in the evening). MAJOR improvement over what it was, but I was hoping for an elimination of MS.ThininMex: Thats quite a life story. Very interesting. Thats awesome that you can swim every day. I'd love to be able to do that... I so enjoy swimming.

Hello Ladies!!!
Well I'm hoping that my little girl doesn't surprise us and come early but after this week anything is possible. Went to the hockey game last night, going to Nickelback Friday, Daid Bowie Saturday, and hockey on Sunday. Can you tell I'm using up all my "FUN TICKETS" before the baby comes. To funny though we have a suite at GM place here in Vancouver and the fellow that takes care of the suite's is on total red alert if I should happen to go into labour at one of the up coming events. At least I know I'll be taken care of ,but I sure hope nothing happens. Besides that all is good and the count down is on. Tomorrow I get all my blood work and admitting things done, then we will just wait. Have a great day all!! cheers kit |

Hi everyone,
First, I second the recommendation on reliefbands. I think I'd use them in the future for travel too. 3Diva - At my 36 wk apptmt on Tuesday, the dr said I was measuring small, so she's sending me for an u/s. I think this is the first apptm where that was the case (I'm assuming they would have told me before otherwise). Well, luckily they got me in for tomorrow afternoon now, so I don't have to wonder over the weekend. Hopefully it's nothing, but my mind is racing. Anyway, thanks for asking. Hope everyone is having a good day. We're heading towards another mean cold spell!

Actually there are the cheapo grey knit relief bands sold over the counter in drugstores that you wear on both wrists. They just have a button that acts as a pressure point on both wrists. They didn't help much at all. They are about $8.
The one I am talking about is the one that emits an electical signal on your wrist, a special battery and conducting gel is needed to make it work correctly. It looks similar to a regular wristwatch. THAT one worked. I've seen them sold anywhere between $50-$100 but it was well worth the cost, IMO. Tigerlily |

Red, I hope you start feeling better soon. I was so sick last time but at 12 weeks it just disappeared. Food tasted so good after that...LOL. Where do you live in Spain and how did you end up there? We ended up in Xcalak because we love the diving and the people. Kisimat, you go girl! I occasionally I miss all the fun we had before DS. We did sneak away to see the Stones in Toronto a year ago last Oct. Left DS with my inlaws for the evening. That was the last real night on the town we had. I hope your little one can hold out for a few more days. Have a great time! |
