PMS'g -- looking for help "Women Only"

I don't have any Midol in the house.

I'm still on induction, but is there anything I can drink/eat that might help with the fluid retention? Things are kinda tender today.

Make sure you drink plenty of water, take Aleve or Advil (or its generic counterparts)

I've been drinking water steadily since I got up this morning. I have taken any meds, though.

lemon water or lemon water tea. WOrks like a charm...a few glasses of that...hot is better...you won't feel bloated. DOctor told me about that after some surgery I had and I drink it when I am PMSing all the time

The only thing that has ever helped me when I had tenderness and cramps was ibuprofen. Unfortunately, I have no tips for the bloating. :/

Thanks Yvonne. I'll give it a try. I have the carbs to spare today.

L Taurine helps with water retention,

Also, for tenderness, I've found that a vitamin B complex, and vitamin E helps tremendously--

I take the Vit E and B complex daily, and then up the dosages of both 10 days before my period hits. Has taken soreness and tenderness down to just an annoyance instead of being in absolute pain. Also I take L taurine (normally) daily once, in the morning. I"ve noticed it does help with water retention.

And. if you can begin taking the ibuprofin before the cramps hit (you have to keep taking it every few hours), then you won't have as bad cramps, or have none at all.

Green tea works well too.

Parsley tea is also good for fluid retention.

Will those remedies help for breast tenderness? I was assuming you were talking about lower area tenderness but I have the most painful breasts ever during my ovulation lately...

Yes, the vit E and vit B complex is for the breast tenderness. It takes a cycle or two for it to kick in, but after that it seems to subside.

They used to be really, really sore, but once starting the vitamins, I've noticed that the pain has come down, and is more of a dull ache, now, almost that feeling one has right before they have a cold. heck, I'd take that anyday over what it was before.

I also was eating home made yogurt I made with regular milk, but whatever was in the milk was causing me to have even more pain, during that TOM. So, I switched to organic milk to make my yogurt, and the problems have subsided.

Denise, are you on any hormonal contraception? I have found that the Micronor (progestin only "mini pill") I am on causes HORRENDOUS breast soreness and bloating--I am dealing with this right now, and it is enough to keep me from working-out for a few days, since any amount of movement in that area is agonizing.

I used to be on Yasmin, which caused no breast pain and actually helps with the bloating, naturally. I am planning to go back to it after my next TOM.

For bloatiness, I take potassium. I just use the "lite salt" and pour it into an empty capsule (like from a fiber capsule, or an herbal supplement that I empty out....)

Works for me...

Also, I'm on Yasmin and I noticed a big change in bloating from when I used to be on Ortho Tricylin. MUCH better...

erikak1970, I appreciate the help. What dosage do you take? One capsule/tablet each?

Candidcam, I used to be on the Depo shot (ten years) until May 03 when I decided I was ready to get off that and I went to Yasmin. I ended up having a tubal in Sept. So now I am on nothing. I have never had such sore breasts in my life! I mean YEOW!

Dosages:

I take one vitamin E capsule, and one vitamin B complex capsule each morning. Rougly 10 days before I start menstruating, I double up, once in the morning, and once in the evening. Then when TOM starts, I'm back down to 1 a day.

Seems to work well for me. I did try just taking one a day every day, and not up the dosages, but I saw little effect.
