Hey everyone!! I was definitely in baby shock yesterday, lol!!! A girl I work with had a baby a few days before Christmas and brought her in yesterday. She was 6lbs. 12oz. at birth, so just a little more than Mac was. SOOOOOOOOO tiny! I’m used to a lanky little lady of 4….going back to baby is going to be CRAZINESS!!!
I’m sooooooooooo excited for today…my friend Rachel’s Mom can definitely give me the gender U/S and I’m going at 4:30pm. She told me to drink a soda and eat a candy bar before coming to ensure that the baby will be active…shoot, you don’t have to tell me twice! Soda and candy = YUM!!!!! :P That’s all I have to report for now, hope everyone has a great Tuesday!! Hugs to everyone!!!! |

Wari – I added you to the list! Since you said you were 6 weeks and 5 days, and we only change the weekage on Mondays, I put you down at 7 weeks. You’ll be there in a couple of days anyway, and better to be a couple days ahead on the list then always 5 days behind – in my opinion anyway. I’m not 21 weeks until Thursday, but am listed like that on the chart…it’s close enough!

Hi everybody. I was reeeeeeeeeeaaaalllllllly busy yesterday.
Tigerlily, I think I'd go with 3, but I'm really torn between her and #1. Sometimes "Grandmotherly" types can fool you when they go into action and I love how close she is. She perhaps seemed like someone who had nothing to prove, does that make sense? #2 mostly bugs me because of the time factor, the fact that she has young children (might not be able to break away at a moment's notice) and the aggressive pitch. Yes, you probably do need someone like that in a hostile hospital environment, but it doesn't strike me like that's the case in your particular situation. #3 has a lot of positives, but the "I wear all these hats" aspect makes me wonder if she's a "jill of all trades and a master of none", or an amazingly super talented uber doula. Good luck with your decision. I was thinking about a labor doula, but since I have a midwife and a very talented massage husband (I tell him I only married him for his hands...LOL) and my parents around 24/7 afterwards, it seemed like overkill... I'll be very interested in hearing about your experience, though. I start my hypnobirthing childbirth classes tonight, so I'll come back with a full report. Anyone else attending classes? Which ones did you choose and did you like them? Good luck with your u/s, Lauren. Have fun!

Morning LAUREN and the rest of our moms to be.
How exciting that you get to have another US today. Any more thoughts on girl names? I'm dying to have another US, I'd really like to see what position she's in, my Dr. is pretty confidant that shes head down but I feel like she still flips a lot? Unless shes just super wiggly. My shower went GREAT! We were so fortunate to get so many of the big things that we needed. Who knew a shower could be so exhausting though, it started at 1:00, I was home by 5:00 and pretty much went straight to bed. I was wiped out. The only thing we really *need* now is the travel system and my parents have offered to buy us that so thats nice. I also need to pick up a boppy. I read yesterdays thread and I prayed all night that SARAHS TOM stayed away. I'd be going broke with pregnancy tests and testing every morning. (((((((((((((((((((((((sarah)))))))))))))))))))))) Have a great day ladies! I'll check in later. Oh, and a heads up for anyone registered at Pottery Barn Kids, they are terrible at marking things that have been bought off your registry, I recieved so many duplicates because things weren't logged correctly on mine. Anyways, I'm off to return/exchange some things at lunchtime. More baby shopping, YAY!

Way to go on the shower, Stacy!!! I'm glad you made out so well and got a ton of what you needed!!! I was looking at a Pottery Barn Kids catalog the other day - so much cute stuff!! We don't have one locally, though, phooey!! Maybe I can register online, I'll have to look into it!! I wanted to register at the Burlington Coat Factory Baby Depot, but I hear they suck at managing registries also...just can't win!

Morning everyone!
Kitmat- I wanted to respond to your post yesterday. I was having the burps really bad--about 2 weeks ago they calmed down. I also had that nasty feeling like I had food hanging out in my throat when I layed down to goto sleep. I started taking a Zantac before I went to bed, made sure I didn't eat anything right before bed and sometimes chewed a piece of gum after meals (I heard that shold help). I am feeling much better these days..quit taking my Zantac. I figured it was from all the holiday eating at the time but it may have been the way this little girl was sitting. Sorry to write a book Stacy- I am glad your shower went well. Those things are exhausting! Sounds like you got some great stuff!! I am sure you will fun with your return credits from Pottery Barn I love that store! We bought our travel system Sunday..I think me & you registered for the same one We didn't take it off the registry though as bought just in case my parents get generous We figured if someone does buy it, we will have a nice return credit for some other needs ! Lucky you on yours!!!! Lauren- I am so glad you are getting another US..how exciting. Let's hope she has open legs for you today!!! Diva- We are taking a crash course this Saturday..mainly for the hospital tour and pre registration. I want the epidural so my doc said unless I wanted natural, I didn't need to do the extended version! We will do some breathing exercises though.....the lady called to confirm with me yesterday and said bring a blanket and some pillows for exercises..I was like "exercises???!!!" She started laughing and said breathing ones..I was like whew! ok. Laura |

3DIVA - Thanks for reminding me... Our first class starts today!!! I'm still so excited and nervous all at the same time that it's getting so close AND at the prospect of doing natural childbirth. I used to think women that did it were crazy, but here I am... Maybe I'm crazy too, but hell... The epidural wore off on me way too early, and I dealt with the full on pitocin contractions... I can deal with this too.
LAUREN - How exciting! Let's hope she keeps her legs open! I was worried about the sex of our baby being correct, but I'm a little more comforted... Our sonographer JUST had her very first wrong guess, and she told the couple that if she was going to be wrong... This was going to be it. She's never been wrong on any of her definite predictions... Well... Not yet anyway... I'm just not taking the tags off of any of the really girly stuff yet! LOL! STACY - She probaby is really wiggly... I know little Anna Vista is sure getting wiggly these days. LAURA - HELLO!!! TIGERLILY - I would go with #1... She's older, has a lot of experience, and lives close. #3 would be my second choice, but I dunno about her not having any kids... Maybe that's just my own little bias though. ![]() I had the weirdest dream last night. (Who doesn't when they're pregnant! ) I was laying down showing some friends of mine how the baby was moving (you could see the head moving all around), and then I started going into labor... But it didn't hurt... And I gave birth to a HUGE little boy... He looked like he was 2!!! That just freaked me out.

Good Afternoon Ladies!
Well, I roused myself into action today (it was tough, let me tell you!) Totally impressed DH, he is a very active guy, and worries that I am becomming housebound, I am but I also like it that way, all I wanna do it rest and sleep! Showered, did my hair, took DH to work (we only have one car), went grocery shopping,(also TOUGH, they sell fresh fish in store, major eww) Only had to sit down twice in the store, at one point I thought I was going to faint. I did pick up some lemon drops, I understand they help with MS. I thought it did help in the store, although I felt like a shoplifter, eating one before paying ![]() I am worn out at this point. I had to sit in the car for 15 just so I could drive home. Sit in the car after getting home just so I could go up to the 2nd floor. How Pathetic! But at least we have some food. Whoo hoo Lauren, I hope your U/S turns out perfectly. Have a wonderful day, I need a nap!

Good morning!
Tomorrow, can whoever change my EDD to 7/22/02? I had my 2nd OB appt yesterday, and they decided not to change it. Tigerliliy - I like #1. Like 3Diva said, sometimes the quiet ones are the best ones. Didn't she also have 12 references? I wouldn't pick #3 just because she's never had a baby on her own. It helps to have your own experience. Lauren - Good luck on your u/s! 3Diva - I don't think I'll be taking classes. It's my first, and I want to go natural if I can (I'll ask for epi if the pain gets unbearable). I heard Lamaze is useless. I'm planning to read a few books on natural child birth. Bradley is out of the question for me, as I don't know if DF will be up for it. Plus, we'll probably move right when we have to start attending classes, so the classes will probably be full by the time I can register. Lowcarbinmama - Glad to hear your shower went great! Hi, Laura! Jennifer - What a brave woman! I'll try to go natural. My mom did it, so can I! Hi, Wendy! Mrs Sarah - The first thing I craved after conception was citrus fruits, especially oranges, grapefruits, and pineapples. Good luck!!!! Now that I'm in 2nd tri (I think), I'm feeling more tired. I didn't really have fatigue problems before. I guess I'm a little weird. My friend might be PG too. It would be so awesome to have someone close geographically so we can get together and pig out, babble, etc. She's having the same early symptoms that I had. Have a great day! Chris - you snuck in on me. I'm sorry to hear about your fatigue. I can't wake up these days. I dread going to work, and I am soooo crabby. This shall pass... |

Anyone who is having their first baby and/or wants to go natural, I recommend a doula. I hear they really help and are wonderful. I think they are very affordable, esp if you find one who includes pregnancy massage as part of the services. They are WONDERFUL.
Those of you who don't care about childbirth classes/breathing because you're going to get the epidural, please be aware that sometimes the epidural 1) doesn't work 2) only numbs half of you while the other half has pain and 3) you can't get it in the parking lot! They usually don't give you the epidural till about 4 cm so you WILL experience *some* pain. I think childbirth classes are a good idea for everyone who is having their first baby! Tigerlily

KATIE - To be honest, it didn't start out as a choice. I had cancelled our insurance, because I could get Allison insured pretty cheaply, and we couldn't make it on what we took home if we paid out the extra $500 month.
When I found out I was pregnant, I just cried and cried... How in the hell were we gonna pay for hospital bills. Hank actually mentioned a midwife, and I checked it out, and I got wonderful references, AND it was cheaper... I'm paying $2200 for the whole shabang... Visits, consultations, the delivery, AND two after care visits. Plus, if anything were to happen, all birthing centers (in TX anyway) have to be able to get you to a hospital within a certain amount of time. I was nervous as hell thinking about doing it naturally. The more I've talked with Molly, and the more I've talked with women who have done it that way, I feel more comforted all the time... I'm actually just looking forward to being guided through the whole thing, and not tearing (that's my big thing, because I was majorly torn with Allison... TMI, huh!?!?)... So, I'm still nervous, but hell, we'll see, won't we!?! LOL! CHRIS - Are you feeling better though? Don't overexert yourself right now! You and your little babies are still in my thoughts! Pregnancy is scary all by itself, not to mention when there is even the slightest difficulty. WARI - Glad to hear you're feeling better! ![]() Well... Looks like I need to change my weeks in my siggy... Every Tuesday... ![]() |

I'm bad with pain, and not ashamed to admit it.If the epidural doesn't take I'll just die. I swear they'll just have to knock me out and do what they have to do. I never want to experience a natural birth. Kudos to those of you who have done it/will do it. I just have no desire to even try. ![]() |

Good morning everyone!!! Sounds like you guys are all doing well!!
![]() STACY: I'm so glad that your shower went well! That's great!! JENN: That dream would freak me out too!! How strange!! As for me.... STILL NO TOM!!! I have had some very mild nausea this morning, but nothing serious. However, I did take my temp this morning and it was not elevated (which I thought it was supposed to be if you are pg)??? Anyway... I'm just hangin' out... hoping TOM doesn't show up! ![]() |

Mrs Sarah - My BBT was always low, between high 96 and low 97. After you ovulate, it should go above coverline, which was about 97.2 for me. Then it drops when TOM comes.
I took my BBT one day just for the heck of it, and it was above the coverline, but still in 97 range. Is yours above the coverline? If so, then progesterone is still kicking in strong, and you might be PG!!! My OB said not everyone sees a clear thermal shift after ovulation though. I'm stilll praying for you (and my friend now) regardless! |

Hello ladies
Well tomorrow is U/S and consultant day, and I must admit I am petrified. Didn't sleep much last night worrying about what they might find - DH is trying to be supportive, but I can tell he is worried too. Re ; epidural - I had one with my first baby, and it was HEAVENLY!! But too true, they don't give it until you are at least 4 cm - lol about not getting it in the car park!! Take care all ![]() |

I asked for an epidural my first time around, however the anesthesiogist was busy with a c-section. By the time he came in, it was too late. There is a window of opportunity you can get them, they rarely do them before 4cm because they can stall or stop labor completely which leads to an IV of pitocin to get things started and a cascade of other interventions where you are lying flat on your back for hours with all sorts of things stuck in you, numb and unable to move much. Then they have to turn the epidural DOWN at the end so you can *feel* things enough to push. Otherwise you are pushing for hours and they don't like you to push more than a couple of hours or they start talking c-section, forceps, episiotomies, etc. I saw this happen a lot in my labor & delivery rotation at the hospital with moms who got epidurals, especially moms who got them really early on.
And there is a time when it's too late for an epidural, I think around 7-8 cm - which for me is when I really start to need one but oh well. Probably the same thing will happen this time. I'll try without, wimp out at the end but it will be too late so I'll continue on unmed. Tigerlily |

Speaking of epidurals, only one book out of four I read mentioned this. Did any of you feel an electric-shock-like feeling down your legs when they inserted the needle? When I had my lumbar puncture (spinal tap), that scared me to death, especially since my neurologist said I MIGHT feel a SLIGHT tingling feeling in my LEFT ANKLE. It felt like a bolt of lighting shooting down my legs, and I screamed! I cried like a baby after that. That's why I'm so scared to have anything done to my back, especially epi. TIA!
