Hiya ladies - to all the new people that I haven't met properly yet, and all the veterans!!

Well here goes on my update : The SPD has got progressively worse (symphysis pubis dysfunction). I returned to work briefly and they are sending me to the Occupational Health Dr on 15th of this month as they do not feel it is 'safe' for me to be there. They would pay me to stay away basically. Sounds great, apart from the fact that being housebound and unable to do anything is my absolute worst nightmare. Nothing to do but eat! DH has borrowed a laptop from work for me, hence finally being back on the internet - our home computer is upstairs and I am no longer allowed to use the stairs!

I had my second scan and it was pretty horrible. The sonographer was very brusque, but I noticed that when she took the baby's head measurements it was showing a due date of 22nd May instead of 27th April. She said not a word to me or DH, so I asked her if it was something to be concerned about. She said the other measurements were fine, so no. We asked about the sex, and she said she couldn't be sure but could hazard a guess for us! Well we could hazard a guess! She also put on my notes that it was difficult to see due to 'maternal adipose tissue' which really upset me. I don't know how much weight I have put on - the scales are upstairs and I have not asked DH to bring them down for me LOL - but I still fit into my normal clothes apart from the waistband, and this baby seems to be all in front. Ah well....

Anyway, saw our midwife the week later and although she wrote in our notes about the baby's head measurement, she said nothing to us. Saw the Consultant just after Christmas, and she asked if anyone had discussed the scan with us!! We said no, and she said that basically the baby's head measurement was down by approx 4 weeks, and they needed to do another scan to double check things! So we are booked in for a scan this Wednesday morning, and seeing the consultant straight away afterwards. I am petrified. DH did a search on the internet but we couldn't find anything about small fetal heads that didn't relate to drugs (which I have never done).

Baby is incredibly active however - kicking the heck out of me most of the day and night. It has definitely bonded with my youngest DD - she cuddles up next to me and strokes my tummy, and the baby kicks back at her hand. If DH strokes my tummy, he rarely gets a response, although when he did snuggle up and rest his head on my belly the baby seemed to be resting just under his head because he could hear the heartbeat right under his ear! Sometimes it is actually getting painful with the amount of kicking I am getting, but it's reassuring as well.

We are off on holiday next Sunday - Tunisia for a week. DH has arranged a wheelchair to get me through the airport, and I plan on sitting on the balcony in the sunshine and doing nothing at all!! Much like I do at home!!

Laters!

good afternoon ladies!

Sherrie- well I am hoping that it is just the way the tech ran your sonogram. Sonograms seem to be a good as the person doing them.

Nothing new going on here (I have noooo life) I just lay about, run to puke and lay about some more. No energy what so ever. I feel like I need to sit down for my shower.
My poor DH is doing all the cleaning and cooking, the neihbors think we are nuts the kitchen window is always open wide in the middle of Jan.

I shall ask the dr about re-sealing the mucous plug, I have no clue! I do know after the liquid, there has been no more leaking. I do have a lot of "slime" I have no pain and no blood, so I have the mindset that everything is ok and we have another sonogram on the 27th. So I will be able to see the lil beans again.
It is cool to have so many sonograms and to see the different changes going on. Both in sizes and shapes.

welcome Thinmex!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Good Morning!

Took me a while to catch up on this weekends posts. I had a very full weekend and wasn't able to check in. By the way, whoever starts tomorrows post please add the gender of my baby BOY

Redjewel: So sorry to hear about your scare over the weekend! I would have been totally freaked out. I hope you start feeling better soon. I know when I was at 11 weeks I had NO energy and couldn't seem to keep a thing down. Its miserable... but I hope you get through it and its not so bad in the next couple of weeks.

Sheree: Take care of yourself!!!

MrsSarah: I hope that TOM is still gone! Crossing my fingers for you

I had a slight scare of my own last night. When I went to the bathroom there was a very little amount of blood. I called my husband in and he just told me to stay calm... he didn't know what to tell me other than that. So I called the "nurse line" that our insurance has and they asked me a zillion questions. I have also been having cramping for about a week and a half. The nurse I talked to said she didn't think there was anything to worry about just to call my doctor in the morning (which I'm going to do in a few minutes when they get in the office). Nothing since then!

Sheree: Sorry to hear of all the problems you are going through! Enjoy your vacation, it sounds really relaxing!!

ThininMex: Good Luck, hope to see you posting soon.

Chris: Sooooo happy you are doing better!!! Bedrest SUCKS! I was on bedrest for 1 week with my first (she decided to show up a month early) and then I was on bedrest AGAIN with my 2nd at 30 weeks and stayed there for about 6 weeks......sigh.... I know exactly what you are going through!!! Hopefully your dr will give you the all clear to get back up and about soon!!

Good Morning to everyone following this!!

I have my 2nd appt Tuesday morning. I always get REALLY nervous right before my appts, I am scared that they are going to say something is wrong. We are suppose to be able to hear the heartbeat. If they don't I am pretty sure they will give me another sono to SEE the heartbeat. I love my dr/midwives because they are reassuring in that aspect.... but now I will worry until the morning!!!

Hope you all have a good Monday morning!

SHEREE, sorry to hear of your problems. You're in pain and you have all that to worry about too?!? I hope everything is fine. Fingers crossed for you!
CHRIS: REST! I worry about you!
TRISHA: If you and DH had sex recently that might be what it is. The cervix is tender during pregnancy and sometimes you see a little pinkish red on the toilet paper after sex. It's happened to me a few times. Hope everything is ok.

OK...I'm going to hire a doula (labor assistant) to go with me. If you guys want more info about them visit www.dona.org and www.doulanetwork.org to check it out.

Anyway, I interviewed two doulas yesterday and one today and I really like them all. Keep in mind my 1st labor was 4 hrs, my 2nd 3 hrs long because that is important for a few reasons.

#1 Rosie is probably in her early 50's has 3 kids 26, 22 & 19. She was VERY giving, loving, nurturing person. Good vibes from her. Charlotte crawled all over her, ADORED HER. I liked her a lot but she seemed almost a little too passive and mellow. Shook my hand hello but was very cheery and friendly. She had a nice packet to give me with her card, info and references. We mostly talked about our labor experiences in the past. She has been at 50 births, very qualified. Best of all, she lives literally FIVE minutes away. She charges $400 flat fee, requiring $200 up front but will take payments. Very flexible on the money end, said "everyone should be able to afford a doula". Very supportive of other doulas and medical staff. Frank liked this lady, said she was "mellow" and "nice". Rosie left me two references to check, both were very complimentary. She was here about 1 hr 25 minutes. The vibe I got from her is peaceful, mellow, nurturing, almost (but not quite) grandmotherly, comfortable like a big pillow.

#2 Linda is mid 30's, more take charge and aggressive. Good vibes from her as well in a different way. She has 2 kids 5 & 4. Very informative, helpful, handon, take charge. Charlotte liked her a lot, didn't crawl all over her but brought her things, talked to her, etc. I liked her a lot too, for different reasons. VERY anti-intervention, in fact tried to talk me out of Vit K shots, erythromycin in the eyes, very anticircumcision (which is fine) but she told me birth shouldn't be painful, maybe "discomfort". OK she lost me there but whatever. She didn't have references and info written up, said she'd e-mail it to me later. She hugged me hello and goodbye and she did a really good job of explaining her function. She charges $50/hr for the actual labor but maxes out at $600 (my labors have been 3-4 hrs so that's fine) She doesn't charge for the prenatal, doctor and postpartum visit so she might end up being cheaper. She bills AFTERWARDS requiring nothing up front. She has been at 75 births, very qualified. She lives about 30-40 minutes away from me which might be a problem depending on time of day. Very supportive of other doulas, didn't seem to like OBs much. Kelsey liked this one a little better because she "took charge" but said the first was "really nice too". This lady said she would "e-mail me references" when she got home yesterday and finally did this morning, sent 12 references which I haven't checked yet. Frank did NOT like her much, said she was "bossy" and "rubbed him the wrong way". This lady stayed about 1 hr 45 minutes. The vibe I got from her was take charge, experienced, protective, competent, knowledgeable, assertive.

#3 Marnie is probably mid 30's, married and been trying to have a child for a few years, no kids yet. She is a very kind nice person, very good vibes from her, healing positive vibes. My kids both really liked her, my husband liked her, joked around with her a bit. She does many things for a living, including childcare, massage therapy, accupuncture and occasional doula (she only takes a max of one client a month so that would be me!) She is a licensed accupuncturist (that is part of the doula package if you want it) which is quite impressive as it's a master's program and I hear fairly difficult. She has been at about 18 births over the last two years so not as experienced as the other two. She is however, certified in pregnancy massage and is a HHP/massage therapist. She lives only about 15 minutes away from me. Very respectful of other doulas and seemed like she would get along really well with medical staff. She was very organized during the interview, took lots of notes, provided me with information and references - even a video! She was referred by my friend/neighbor who couldn't say enough good things about her (as a friend and massage therapist though, not as a doula) She originally said her fee was $600 but after talking to me said an hourly rate might work better since I have fast labors (capping out at $600 max) She requires a $200 deposit and will bill the rest after delivery. She didn't bring references but said she would e-mail them to me when she returned home, which she did. She sent 8 references! I e-mailed the people to check and a few have already responded and said she was "just wonderful". She was here about 1 hr 30 minutes and only left because Charlotte dragged me outside. The vibe I got from her was nicest person ever, well educated, empathetic, competent, self assured, calm and she felt like a friend.

What do you guys think? I am leaning toward #3. Going to make a decision within the next few days pending discussion with friends/family and checking some references. Thanks!

Tigerlily

Tiger - I'm feelin' the vibes on #3, too. I wouldn't choose #2 for a multitude of reasons. Hubby didn't like her, she lives too far, may not work 100% well with other medical staff, etc... Word of mouth means a LOT and I think with #3 you have that, plus she was really on the ball with her references and provided you several sources. You seem to like #1, but also have reservations about her. #3 is my favorite choice! Good luck!!

Tigerlily - seems to me you have made up your mind. Number 3 is the only one you have been positive about throughout - got on well with your kids and DH and you!

Angelhope - good luck for tomorrow.

Trisha - ((HUGS)) girlie. Let us know what your dr says.

Redjewel - I know what you mean about DH dealing with everything. My DH is doing so much for me at the moment - I was blown away over the weekend when he volunteered to massage my feet! He doesn't DO feet normally!! Sending ((HUGS)) and best wishes your way.

PFGal - I keep telling myself that I am not worried, just concerned, but DH keeps giving me little hugs, etc and yesterday he noticed that I was crying without realising it. I can't get my head around all of this - why me?! Other times, I just try to stay calm. :shrug!

Thanks for the wellwishes this morning ladies. I talked with the nurse at the doctors office and she said to stay off my feet as much as possible and monitor it. Though there really isn't anything to monitor it was just a very little bit. She said if there was any more bleeding that I would need to come in.

Tigerlily: Yes, I had heard that sometimes intercourse could do that, but that wasn't it! Could laughing really hard do it?! lol My husband had me laughing so hard I was almost crying last night. He is such a goof ball

Regarding the doulas: #1 and #3 appeal to me the most. From what you said #2 kinda turned me off.

Ok... back to work! I have a conference call in an hour. Blah!

I don't know about it causing bleeding, but DH is concerned about it kickstarting labour. My sister came to visit a couple of weekends ago, and as per normal we were laughing like drains - at one point I had to hobble to the bathroom because I was on the verge of wetting myself!!

Take it easy mate

Tiger- Based on what you wrote...I like #1 and #3 the best. Since I have never had a baby--does it matter that #3 has not had a baby but will coach you through your birth/help afterwards, etc??? I dunno if that should matter--just asking. Sounds like she had some really good references--which speaks for itself. I think I would vote for #3 bc I would rather the "friend type" in there than the "grandma type". #1 may be too passive for me

Trisha- Take it easy today! I am sure things are fine.

LessCarbs- ((HUGS))

Hi to everyone!!!!!

Trisha: That was a scare!! Why do things like this always happen on the weekend or at night when our dr's offices are not open! It sounds like you are fine though, thats a relief! You might have overdone things (stooping, bending, lifting, etc...) I would just take it easy for the next few days!

Tiger: I am voting #3... just wish she has gone through her own delivery. However, people in the masage/accupuncture etc world seem to be a little more understanding towards people's aches and pains. I like the "take charge" attitude of the #2 but at the same time she sortof scared me in print. I would definitely want someone who is in alignment with what I want and not just PUSH what they think is RIGHT or their beliefs. Yep I would go with #2.... wish I had a doula during my last delivery!!! Maybe I will check into them this time. I would also like to check into a part-time baby nurse/maid/cook person LOL

Looper: Good Morning!

Looper- I don't know if I'm having symptoms or not! I've been crampy. Not constantly, more on and off. Some in my tummy and some in my back. I did go thru a spell for about a week ( a couple weeks ago) where I kept waking up at night, burning hot and nauseated...but that has subsided and I haven't had that since. I was also EXTREMELY tired during that time and kept going to be at like 8:30 or 9:00. That has subsided too. That's really about it! Other than I have been craving oranges like nobody's business.

What do you think??

Here's an example of something I've been experiencing... right now, I'm sitting in my office and it feels like the whole muscle down the right side of my stomach/ribcage is stretching. I'm just sitting here.

Happy B'day Lauren!!!!!

Sarah- That sounds promising!!! The morning before I tested..we were out shopping and I felt really nauseated and dizzy..like a hot spell or something where I need to sit down. Just different. And I also checked my temp--I had quit charting a few months prior but I knew what my temp should be and when I checked it, it was higher than normal still but not like sick temp. so that got me wondering....I tested that afternoon +++. I was also really tired for a few days--not normal for me....it kind of went away but came back week 6! SO MAYBE!!!!!!

Thats RIGHT!!!! Happy Happy Birthday Lauren, hope you had a nice dinner with your family!!!

Sarah: Geez its hard to say WHAT is a pregnancy symptom! Seems like everyone's experiences are different. I know I get REALLY hot at night, my dh Mike says that I am incubating and it burns when he touches me LOL That subsided after a few weeks. I get really tired from time to time.... not everyday, but when I am tired it almost HURTS to keep my eyes open!! In the first few weeks I definately had a craving for milk... sortof like your oranges!! Then in my first pregnancy more than the others I had the stretching pains you mentioned, I just can't remember when in my pregnancy though. Seems like anytime there was a growth spurt I would have them. Have you called your dr's office yet??????

I am sooooo procrastinating right now. I am suppose to be cleaning the house because my mom is coming in the morning to watch the girls. I just don't have the URGE!!! ahhhhhhh.... and the girls are irritating me to death, seems like when I clean up one room full of toys/crap they are in the next room pulling everything back out..... gotta love the little angels LOL

Argggghhhh.... I think I just spent an hour and 40 minutes on the longest most boring conference call ever. What a waste of time! I'm SO glad to be done with that. Ok... I'm done complaining now

Hi Everyone -

My goodness this pregnancy is kicking my butt. I was never sick with my DD and this time I can't believe how bad I feel. I actually called out on Thursday, and went to work on Friday for a couple of hours. DH is out of town, so poor DD has to be with sicky mommy who can barely do anything. The thought of cooking food makes me sick. I think the most I have done is MacNCheese. I feel so bad that I can't do much of anything. I am nauseated all day long. The Dr. prescribed a pre-natal that helps, but haven't seen that yet.

I go back to the Dr. on Wednesday for my 7 wk U/S and the next day for the examinations.

Whoever starts the thread tomorrow, could you please add me to the list. I am 6wks5days, due date is 9/1/2004.

Lauren - Happy Birthday!!!!

Red - How scary! Please take care of yourself.

Lesscarbs - Please take care of yourself and enjoy your relaxing vacation.!

Mrs. Sarah - Hope the nurse calls you back soon!!! Hope to hear good news!

Tracey2 - Congrats on a little girl!

Trishagirl - Congrats on a little boy! I hate unproductive conference calls!!!! Hope you are doing ok after your scare last night!

Tigerlily - After reading about the three, it sounds like #3 is a good choice.

Angelhope - I know what you mean about Dr. appt. I have already had thoughts as well! I think with me it is because I am 36.

Looper2 - HI There!

Have a great day everyone. I will try to be a little more consistent with my posting.

Take Care!
Wendy
