I wrote out a post yesterday, where I wrote to everyone and I lost it! grrr.

I think the deal with the Graco travel systems is that different stores like Penneys and BabiesRUs have "exclusive" agreements for different versions - Quatro, Sterling, Breeze etc - the only difference I can see is the fabrics... I'm going to pick the the fabric I like for the price I like...

MY OB is insisting on a flu shot... I guess different providers have different opinions.

Sinnrah - beautiful pic!

I cant remeber the rest! Have to go brave the snow anyway... Happy Tuesday!

Sinnrah, congratulations on your daughter! My 2nd daughter's middle name is Emily, I love old fashioned names. You sound happy you are having a girl (I know you said you wanted a boy). I am partial to girls myself having two already, you will love having a little girl!

Awww, congrats Sinnrah! Girls are so much fun. My daughter is 2 and she's really into playing with barbies and tea sets and doll houses already. I love it!

It's still crazy at work. I have people on vacation this week and we were really short staffed last night. We were set back a good hour and a half so I don't have time for a post. I just wanted to check in and say "hey".

Have a great day ladies. I will be back tonight.

Oh, quick question. Do any of you have a toddler already? Do you recommend a double stroller? I don't know if I want to fork out the money for one if my daughter won't even be in it for very long. TIA!

Hi Ladies,

I'm not having a very good day today. I woke up to find myself spotting. The spotting isn't heavy (light, brownish colored) but I'm a little scared since I didn't have any implantation spotting earlier. Also, last night I had some cramping and was dizzy. I have a call into my doctors and am waiting for him to call me back.

Sinnah - congrats on the little girl! I have 2 little nieces and I love them both like crazy. They're so much fun!

Well, I'll check back later. I'm going to try to get some work done so that I'm not sitting here worrying.

Have a great day, everyone.

Sunnie

Hello Ladies,

I'm SO happy to be home. I just wish I had a day or two off while at home. We went down to Louisiana to see the in-laws for Thanksgiving. It went OK but was kinda boring for me and I was sick every day EXCEPT Thanksgiving. That was kinda nice to have a day off .

I feel way crappy today. I had a hard time sleeping last night because my tummy hurt. I ended up getting up around 2AM and losing the contents of my stomach. Then... I had major heartburn and my throat stung. I just can't win!!! So, I got like 2 or 3 hours of sleep. This is deffinately NOT enough sleep for me. How am i going to get through work today? How am I going to get through work through this pregnancy??? Ok... I'll quit my complaining!

Sinnrah - Congrats on the girl! HOw much fun... I can't wait to find out what I'm having!

Sunnie - Wow, I bet that is scary. I'll say a lil prayer for ya! I hope it all goes ok.

Sara - are there thoughts that getting the flu shot while pregnant is bad? I'm just curious. I was offered the flu shot from my general practicioner before I knew I was pregnant. I refused it... but I was just curious if there were different thoughts on the matter as far as the flu shot being good or bad duing pregnancy.

Sinnrah - I love that name. I'm glad you are happy. I want a girl but as we all say, I will be happy either way.

Sunnie - I would go to bed - now. I had spotting twice and was frightened both times. My OB always told me to go home, put my feet up and chill for a couple of days. I was bored some, but the extra sleep came in handy.

Trisha - Have you tried Tums? Heart burn stinks! I dont know much about the flu shot being controversial - it seems some OB reccomend them, some dont and my is insistant... Who knows?

Opps -gotta get to work again!

Sara

Morning ladies!!

Sinnrah! Congrats on a girl!! I found out yesterday too -a GIRL! They said 90% for us too...funny. I couldn't sleep a wink last night either, we are so excited. We were really expecting a boy for some reason so this was a big shock yesterday for us both.

Sunnie: Keep us informed!!! Hope you feel better

Good Morning Ladies.

Sinnrah - Congrats to you! At my ultrasound she said to me that it was 60% a boy. So to me that was not good enough, so I am not sure. Though in just a few weeks I will know. My gut instinct is that I am having a girl. Though everyone around me thinks I am having a boy.

Sara J - My midwife suggested a flu shot to me and I declined. You do have the right to decline. Do some research. There are pro's and con's. The main reason I declined was because they do not give the flu shot to children under 2, because they consider that dangerous, but they would give it to a pregnant woman? That seems a little off. Also the whole Thermisol issue. That is still present in flu shots and mercury is considered dangerous to the baby. This is a debatable issue, but still, why take any chances?

Sunnie - I had some light brownish spotting associated with some cramping when I was right around 10 weeks. It turned out to be nothing. My midwife just said sometimes when you are early on all the stretching and moving of the ligaments, plus I was doing a lot of walking that day, can cause a little spotting. As long as its light brown its nothing to worry about. So hopefully you will hear the same.

Heidi - Can't advise you on the Double stroller. Though I can imagine it would be hard having a toddler who needs to ride and a baby at the same time. Might be something you do need.

Hope everyone has a great day today!

I'm having a really odd day...
My belly is a bit gurgely this morning. I haven't had anythiing to eat and quite frankly, I'm terrified to eat. I really don't want to throw up again. I don't think I have the energy to do that today. I know I"m going to have to eat though...

Thanks to those of you who posted your experiences with the flu shot. I'd love to hear more about why or why you did not opt for the flu shot. Its not something I've had to worry about yet... but its nice to have the info before you are in the situation.

Sinnrah, she's just beautiful!!

As for me, still no sign of TOM, but my temp did drop this morning, which makes me think it will come today. We'll see. I had the WORST cramps all day yesterday. It was horrible!! None today so far.

Love you guys!

Hi ladies.

Thought I would take a minute to post my birth story for those interested. It's been a busy week for us, so I couldn't get back sooner.

Anyway...On Friday, the 21st I saw the doctor for my 38 weeks. She said 90% effaced, 3+cms dilated and head at +1 station. And after the exam I was having terrible cramping, some bloody show, that sort of thing so I knew it wouldn't be long. I woke up at 3:30 am Saturday morning having to use the restroom and having a contraction. Then again at 3:45, restroom and contraction. Guess that thing about natural bowel cleansing was happening, and I was having more bloody show. By 4:15 I woke up my husband to tell him we needed to start timing the contractions because they just felt "different"...guess I just knew I was now "in labor". They started about 15 minutes apart but quickly moved to 10 minutes. I took a shower and got dressed and assembled the rest of my stuff for the hospital while my husband showered. I called the docs at around 6 am and the contractions were about 7 minutes apart. And when she called back a few minutes later and said to come on in, we left for our 45 minute drive. At this point the contractions were not overly painful and I could manage them nicely with trying to relax and breathe slowly through them.

We get to the hospital around 7 and the nurse does her internal check and says yes I am in active labor...4+ cms dilated! They started an IV and hooked me up for monitoring the contractions and the heartbeat. The doctor broke my water at 9am and after that everything changed. The contractions started coming really quickly and really hard...about every minute and a half to two minutes and lasting about a minute. And they said because the head was already so low that that would happen...just intense pressure on the cervix. But it felt like my pelvis was going to break in half and I could not get a comfortable position. So at 10 am I called for an epidural and things were much better after that! They did have to do internal monitoring of the contractions at this point because the external monitor wasn't picking them up, but no big deal. We started pushing about 1:15 and 15 pushes later we had Jack Thomas at 2:07 pm. So about 10 hours of labor and delivery.

The epidural was great for me because it let me be relaxed enough to enjoy the birth experience. I got to watch the baby be born and sort of savor the moment. And I had nice long pauses between my contractions during pushing so I didn't get overly tired.

One briefly scary moment was when they came in and said that I had developed an antibody to an antigen that the baby was presenting. Sort of like the Rh factor but different, since the baby and I are both A+. But they assured me it wouldn't affect the outcome...just that if it had happened early in pregnancy it could have been a problem. Nice of them to tell me during labor...couldn't they wait until after???

But we stayed 48 hours in the hospital because they thought the antibody/antigen situation might cause serious jaundice, which it did not. Jack was circumsized on Sunday morning and had his first immunization. I got my measles immunization because during pregnancy it came up that I wasn't immune anymore.

The one problem for us was that I really had my heart set on breastfeeding and that didn't work out, due to various reasons on Jack's and my part. It's not an easy thing to get the hang of and we just had a lot of trouble, so I switched him to formula. But it was quite traumatic for me to have to give up the idea of breastfeeding and switch to the bottle...only because of my expectations that I'd be able to do it and because of the pressure that people put on you to breastfeed. I know it's best, but think that the pressure to do it regardless just makes a new mom feel badly if it doesn't work out. Oh, and the hormones being out of whack just didn't help at all!!

But there it is...our birth story. So thanks for listening.

Sinnrah and looper- Congrats on the girls!

As I was saying before I accidentally posted...

Sunnie- Hope you are feeling better. Try to get some rest...but as others have said if it's brownish blood it's probably okay. Check with the doc for sure.

To everyone else, hope all is well.

And I'm wishing you all the best Mrs Sarah!

Epidoc- what a wonderful story!! How much did he weigh? We want pics!! Did you see a lactation consultant about breasfeeding? That's odd that you want to BF and can't

Congrats again!!

Sarah- here's praying TOM doesn't show!! Are you and hubby considering having some fertility testing done if it doesn't happen soon?

Sinrah- do you have any other children?

OK- I haven't been following all the talk about BF and ketosis. Does anyone know if you safely do Atkins induction and your baby be healthy?

Sarah - That must be terribly frustrating not to get pregnant when you want to! I know if I was planning on getting pregnant and didn't immediately I'd be stressed out. I'm such a planner... its a probably a good thing this was NOT planned for us.

Well... I ate a lil something... so far its still in me. It doesn't feel so good though, but we'll see! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Start Date: Who the heck knows...
TRISHA - Try drinking some water with lemon... The lemon helps with the nausea. Also try eating light protein. It may not sound good, but my midwife told me to, and it helped BIG TIME during my first trimester. HTH!!!

SINNRAH - YAY FOR LITTLE GIRLS! They can be a handful, but are well worth it! My little girl is just like me. Looks, personality, everything. I have a feeling she's gonna have her daddy wrapped around her little finger in no time. Mine has her dad AND stepdad wrapped around hers.

SARA - It's so funny how different providers have such different opinions. LOL!

HEIDI - I wouldn't know... There will be over 8 years difference between my two. (9 1/2 years between my DSS and this one...) Although I'm sure my lazy daughter would love to still ride in one. (She will play for hours and hours, but doesn't want to walk in a store... YEESH! )

MISBADU - Go with your gut. You could be wrong, but you're probably right. I had people telling me all the time I was having a boy with Allison. "You're carring too low to have a boy!" They even told me that my ultrasound had to be wrong. Either way, your baby will be a lucky little boy or girl!

NICCOLE - I loved your story! I'm sorry you weren't able to breastfeed. I went through the same thing with my daughter who is the healthiest kid I know. (I would cry everytime I heard something about how breastfed babies were healthier.) I'm going to try again with this one... I'm saying a prayer that it works this time!!!

SARAH - I'm still praying for you. I hope your time is now, but if it isn't, you'll have your little baby in your arms in time.

TRACY - I know there have been a few women on this board who have successfully breastfed healthy babies while in ketosis. I don't see what harm it could do... As a matter of fact, I think there was some research done on some of the Alaskan Eskimo communities that lived primarily on fish. No real veggies even. The women gave birth to, and fed healthy babies.

Well, seeing little Emily made me finally schedule my U/S. It's Saturday, December 13 @ 3:30pm!!! YAY!!! Now let's just hope the baby keeps his/her legs open so we can see whether we're having a little Penelope or Ezra!!!
