Probably not many posts today, but I thought I'd check in before we begin the family stuff. My Mom and Dad are coming over for breakfast in an hour and a half, so I'm looking forward to that. We're going to Dean's parents' house later to spend time with them. His sister and her kids and a few others will be there.

We did get some sad news yesterday...Dean's grandmother will probably pass away sometime this weekend. She has had cancer for about 2.5 years, gone into remission after chemo, and had a 2nd round of chemo not too long ago. It wasn't helping and just made her feel horrid and sick, so basically a couple of mos. ago they just started giving her meds to make her comfortable. They said she'd probably make it to January. Last week they said mid-December. Then last night Dean's mom called and said probably this weekend. I guess it's best that she won't suffer for long, but still very sad. I know Dean is going to take it very hard, and I hope I can do the right things to be there for him. ((HUGS))

Lauren - I'm so sorry to hear what a hard time your family is having. Waiting to loose someone is very difficult. (((hugs))) I'm sure you will find the way to comfort him.

DH and I are spending a lazy day. In a little while I will make a pie. The turkey is in the brine.... etc... Its just the 2 of us - we wanted to be alone b/c this is the last holiday in a long time that it will just be the two of us.

Hope everyone is well and spending time with loved ones.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am feeling so festive today.

If everyone would say a little prayer for my mom (or send some positive thoughts) that would be great. She all of a sudden had blood in her urine, quite a bit. When she told me I said to call the doctor and they had her come in right away yesterday. The dr said to be sure to call Friday at 10am and that she will need to see a specialist for a kidney scan, even if the blood goes away.

I knew this would happen, being a nursing student, I am aware of all the possibilities of hematuria (blood in urine) They range from a simple UTI (which she has no symptoms of) to kidney and bladder stones (again, no pain) to kidney and bladder tumors, both benign and malignant. I hate being a nurse sometimes, we know too much. Now I am worried. Anyway, when you sit around the dinner table, please add on a P.S. that nothing serious is wrong with my mom. I don't know what I'd do without her.

Happy Thanksgiving Yankee friends

Sorry to hear about your mom. It's really a shame you can't give her any mariguana cookies instead of piles of drugs. We once made my 80 year old grand dad really light ,low in sugar, almost like a sugar cookie but they had pot in them. With the cookies he was able to eat a little more and took away his pain to an extentent. Finally after months of cookies he told his doctor and the doctor just gave him a prescition for pot pills. Peolpe don't realize the wonderful properties of pot, when you are in pain or sick you don't actually get high because the pot goes to where the pain is. Besides it's a wonderful anti-depressent and takes away your worries for the day. Myself I have used it for years as a anti-depressent, with doctor approval since i kept having miscarriges with the drugs I was on. To this day I still smoke a little a day and did through my last pregnacy with doctor approval.
HAve a great day all
cheers kit

What are the benefits associated with smoking marijuana during pregnancy?
I'm not critisizing (lord knows I've smoked plenty in my day, although never while pregnant), I'm just curious to hear why your Dr. would suggest/advise it?

Lauren & TigerLily I will keep both of your families in my prayers. I'm sorry you're going through such stressful times.

We just returned from celebrating Thanksgiving with my family, I have to work tomorrow. I'm tired, just relaxing and drinking some Pregnancy Tea. Think I'll go lay in bed and watch some tv.

Have a great night everyone.

It is used instead of being on anti-depressents. I had many mis-carriges and a molar preg. So instead of the pills I opt. to smoke and everything has been fine. There is a very interesting article written by Dr. Melanie Dreher about pot and preg. take a look it is very interesting the facts this women found out. Considering she is the only doctor that has done an extensive study on the effects of the drug long and short term.
cheers
