Can we do a poll here? Probably not since we have a new thread every day.

I'd like to see:

1) if people are counting carbs at all
2) if so, how many do they take in a day
3) how many weeks pregnant are they?
4) how much did they weigh before? (10 lbs overweight, goal, etc)
5) how much have they gained at how many weeks?

Here are my answers:

I stopped when the morning sickness was so bad, but I am easing myself back in.
2) if so, how many do they take in a day
At the moment I have no idea - thinking about restarting fitday.
3) how many weeks pregnant are they?
14 weeks
4) how much did they weigh before? (10 lbs overweight, goal, etc)
I weighed 207 prior to getting pregnant.
5) how much have they gained at how many weeks?
I gained 4 pounds my first trimester, and 2 more in the last week.

Its going to be another busy day at work. I'll check in later.

Oh, re the finding out the sex question - our plan is to have the tech write it on a card, seal it in an envelope and then we can decide when we want to find out. I'm hoping that my next U/S will be before Christmas and that envelope can be one of our presents.

Good Morning,

Well, DH and I hop on a plane later this evening to go see the in-laws. I'm really not looking forward to flying with all this nausea I've had lately. Actually, I kinda wish I could just stay at home in bed for the long weekend! But since that isn't going to happen I'll make the best of it...

To answer the questions

1) if people are counting carbs at all
Not at the moment. Most everything comes back up, so I just eat what sounds like it will stay down.

2) if so, how many do they take in a day
Who knows

3) how many weeks pregnant are they?
Around 8? I'll know more next Thursday after the ultrasound

4) how much did they weigh before? (10 lbs overweight, goal, etc)
I was right around 173 before and am right around 176 at the moment. I put on 5 pounds as soon as I started eating all the carbs, but probably haven't kept them all on since I don't keep a whole lot down! My goal weight is 145 (thought I'd be happy at 155 too).

Thanks Sara! Just wondering if it's worth it to count carbs so carefully. It seemed to work great until I got to about 20 weeks, then I just have been EXPLODING no matter what. So I don't know. Maybe at this point I should just eat reasonably and not worry? I don't know if carb counting even helps at this point. I know it did in the beginning but now? LOL.

VERY neat Christmas present idea!! I'm 13 weeks along but will not get an U/S until about 20 weeks, which will be mid-January. My b-day is January 12th, though, so maybe it'll be a good b-day gift for me!

As soon as I added carbs, I gained a few pounds. Lately, I haven't had much of an appetite, so I'm back to my goal weight, although my pants are tight...

Sara, that's a great idea! PFGal, I think I'm going to do the same! My b-day is in April, and they should be able to tell by mid March. Thanks for the idea! I wish I could do that for someone else's b-day too... It would be a neat gift for my parents.

Not really... I usually stick to meats and veggies, with the occasional bowl of oatmeal, although I've been cheating a lot lately.

I would guess 30 - 40 on a good day and 100 on my bad days.

I was 180, which was about 10-15 pounds over goal.

At my appointment last Saturday, I'd gained 10 pounds at 20 weeks.

Well girls... We'll give Hank's neice a big surprise on T-Day... I was grabbing some of the maternity jeans she gave me, and I heard a crinkle sound... I reached in the back pocket, and there was a $100 bill in there. I told Hank that he needed to call her, but he just said he'd surprise her tomorrow.

Hi girls! Can I join? I just found out last weekend! I think I'm about 5 1/2 weeks along. I don't go to the dr. for 3 more weeks. According to all the online calculaters and such I should be due
7-24-03! I've completely gone off plan and I'm going to try to get back on. I don't have any morning sickness yet, but my breasticles are feeling like cannon balls!

I've gained 2 pounds this week, but I think it's water. My fingers have been tight the last few days!

Oh I had a question... Do you all still use splenda? Is it okay? I'm dying for a pop w/o caffeine of course but can't stomach the idea of a real pop. I have some Diet rite in the fridge... and what about the carb advantage shakes? I still have 2 boxes of those too.

A coworker here, was talking to one of our VPs in Houston... His wife is due around the same time I am. She (my coworker) asked how his wife was doing, and he says, "Oh, fat and b****y."... OH! MY! GAWD! If I found out my husband said anything resembling that, I would have his head on a platter. And this is a couple who's been trying and trying for years to have a baby. They've gone through miscarriages and such. Even with this pregnancy... She was pregnant with twins and one died. How much of a d**k can you be???

My husband is always telling me how beautiful I am, and how lucky he is to have married me. (Okay, sometimes he has to stay away from me, because I just *MIGHT* get a tad *****y, but y'know...)

I started pregnancy at 140, but had weighed 135 on my wedding day. I ate a lot of crap on our honeymoon. I'd like to get back down to 130-135 after the baby, and I'm pretty confident that I can do it.

I've gained 20 lbs. so far. 26.5 weeks and weighing 160. YIKES!

I count carbs during the day. I eat a high-carb dinner every night and don't count the carbs

2) if so, how many do they take in a day

I take in 15 or less for breakfast and lunch, and then don't count dinner, so it is probably above 100 most days

3) how many weeks pregnant are they?
13.5

4) how much did they weigh before? (10 lbs overweight, goal, etc)

I had reached my goal of 125, actually I was a little less, but gained a few pounds when I added carbs back in, so I am counting my preggo gain starting at 126. I am 5 foot 5.5 , so goal weight for me was a size 4 or 6.

5) how much have they gained at how many weeks?

Yikes, I weighed in at 132.5 this morning, so that is 6.5 pounds. But, I have been eating like a PIGGY all week and usually when I go back to normal eating I lose some of that extra over time.

I have to confess I am starting to freak out a little about the weight I have gained. I have always been prone to being obsessive about my weight and gaining over 6 pounds is hard for me. I gained MUCH more with my last pregnancy, so I should be glad, but I feel out of control with my enormous appetite and lack of will power during this pregnancy.

So for the holidays I am going to try and control myself by limiting the number of times I pig out. The problem is I am going to visit family in Chicago and all my FAVORITE RESTAURANTS are there!

Like Jefinner I have a wonderful dh who constantly tells me how great I look and even means it. THis morning he told me my hair looked nice and he can't remember me being so beautiful as I am lately. Anyone who will sit and listen while I complain about my big butt deserves an award.

Also, I have to be tested for gestational diabetes at 18 weeks which is right after Christmas (early testuing because I got GD with preg #1) SO part of me feels I should enjoy myself over the holidays while I still can becuase once you have diabetes THE FUN IS OVER! Not really, but you can never again eat without counting and sticking yourself with needles and exercising and all.

First let me say this is almost painful for me to type out, after working so hard to lose weight, then unexpectedly getting prego, its been hard on my body image....but here are my answers:

1) if people are counting carbs at all
I counted carbs up until about 25 weeks or so...Now I do not even count and I have been eating everything that is bad for me (cake, ice cream, bread, etc)
2) if so, how many do they take in a day
I was averaging about 80-90 carbs per day then. Now I do not count but I would say I am around 150-200.
3) how many weeks pregnant are they?
Today starts my 34th week.
4) how much did they weigh before? (10 lbs overweight, goal, etc)
I was down to about 205 before getting pg. (I was 256 in December of last year, got pg in April at 205)
5) how much have they gained at how many weeks?
as of this morning I was up to 258....I think I rebounded some weight! (50+ pounds YIKES). I have gained the most over the last 10 weeks. Plus I am retaining water lately, I have noticed at night I am always 5lbs heavier than I am in the morning.
I am one of those people who loses fast and gains fast though, so I am not the best gage for weight gain or loss.

Okay so now after that painful confession is done!
I am hanging in there today. My work shower yesterday was really nice. Everyone in the office gave me a gift...even some of the men who I would never have expected to be so thoughtful. It was very sweet.
Sleeping is completely out the window now. I am so big and uncomfortable at night that even with 10 million pillows propping me up and supporting me here and there, I just toss and turn all night. Last night was bad, so I am a little sensitive today. Then when I got up finally to come to work I looked in the mirror and just saw how HUGE I am...I started to get a little upset....I caught myself, and reeled myself back in, but I am pretty close to that emotional edge. Wow...pregnancy takes a toll on the whole person...Mind, Body and Soul!!!! Its a daily struggle to keep myself in the positive and not let my inner demons take control.

Contrats, Kaisergirl! According to online calendars, I'm due 7/21, so we're really close!

Splenda is OK to use as it doesn't cross the placenta. I wouldn't drink the advantage shakes. I read a book that says there hasn't been enough study done on protein powders and such artificial stuff. There so many ingredients that you never know if one could be harmful. I try to stay away from anything unnatural. I drink Diet Rite for fizz sometimes.

Abby, I live in Lombard. I know all the cities you mentioned. I know what you mean about restaurants here. One place I miss the most is Uno's downtown. Drool....

Ladies that get compliments from DHs, you are so lucky. I have not gotten one compliment lately, excpet for "your boob look bigger."

I just broke a tooth!! It's the back lower wisdom tooth, so nothing cosmetically foul, but still!! I've had these wisdom teeth forever and don't want to get them pulled now! I wonder if they can fix it, or what!? There's a filling in the tooth, and as I was biting into a sourdough pretzel I chomped down on something bigger and harder than a grain of salt.... I can see the filling that is down in the tooth. It's like the whole inside of the tooth is gone...ack!!

What if my dentist suggests pulling the tooth rather than repairing it...is that okay during pregnancy?? - do you get knocked out of what?? He's suggested pulling them a million times before, but I never allowed it because there's plenty of room for them and they've never caused me any problems.

Re the husband who said his wife was *****y and fat - I would be mortified if my DH ever said that about me. I honestly cant imagine him saying that. He dosent gush about my beauty, lol, but I think how I look, even as I change, is dear to him.I dont think I would want to be married to someone who disrespected me in that way.

Hey ladies.

Well, I was right. I went into labor on Saturday morning about 3:30 am and delivered at 2:07 pm. And...

IT'S A BOY!! Little Jack Thomas weighed in at 6 lbs, 12 oz and was 19.5 inches long. And he's just the cutest little boy...in my opinion of course! It was really exciting when the doctor delivered him and we got to find out the sex...since we decided to not to find out at the ultrasound. And needless to say we couldn't be happier.

I'll post a link to his first official nursery photo...haven't had time yet to deal with the digital camera photos yet.

They took 4 pictures of him...didn't open his eyes for any. He's quite the sleeper.

I'll post more on the birth story later. He just woke up for lunch.
