Hi All-

Went shopping today. Cant wait to bring home a crib and travel system and all of the gear. Now that I dont feel so sick and am not big yet its like I could almost forget I'm pregnant - its not quite real. Hopefully that will chage in a month or so when I can feel the baby moving.

Tigerlily - I have heard that pancreatitis and gallstones rank up there on the pain scale. It hurt a lot, dont get me wrong, but I drove myself to the Doctors - they called an ambulance from there and I was suprised in the ED to hear the resident and doctor in the hall discussing if I should go to a medical floor or to intensive care. Fortunatly I went to the medical floor - but by that time I was so jaundiced I was more yellow than big bird. They pumped me full of antibiotics and operated on the duct the next day. I have a little bottle of stones and a 6 inch scar from that....I like the idea of a baby much better!

Sarah - fingers crossed!

Hope you are all doing well!

Hi Sara,

Looks like we are the only ones who stop by on the weekends. Usually I log in here and there are 20 posts to read!

Well, whenever I have patients at the hospital curled up in a ball and on morphine it is usually because they have acute pancreatitis, gallstones or kidney stones. No kidding, those are the three. I see people with knee and hip replacement surgeries that are up and around the next day and not doing too bad but when those internal organs get inflamed and infected like that - OHHHHH it looks painful.

Labor is really painful though, mostly at the last bit. I always know when I've hit 8 cm because that's the time I start whining and begging for the epidural. But of course they just smile and pat my hand and say, "You're almost done" and they are right, I'm almost done. But those last 2 cm hurt. The pushing part was a different kind of hurting, not as bad, IMO. Plus you are finally DOING something instead of just lying there, hurting and panting like a dog. So it feels good to be doing something. Eeeee, I can't believe I'm doing this again. I get all excited/scared when I think about it!

Hi there ya'll!! Yes, very quiet around here this weekend! Yesterday we attended a children's b-day party and did a bit of clothes shopping for me. I have a hard time finding pants b/c I'm tall, but did find a few more pairs yesterday - yeah! Today is church, and then home to watch football and relax! I love Sundays!

Hi

First of all let me just say CONGRATS to all of you lucky ladies who are preggers with beautiful bambinos! I have two boys that I love dearly and have a couple of questions I am hoping you all can answer for me.

I am interested in having a third child and wanted to know...

1. Were you all OUT of ketosis when you conceived?

2. Are there any harmful side effects known if you are in ketosis when you conceive?

3. Have you found that your cravings are more severe now that you have done Atkins/LC?

4. Are you gaining weight faster than with previous pregnancies?

5. Are you avoiding white flour and sugar successfully? Or is it just too hard?

I have been on this WOE since March and have lost 30 lbs so am really nervy to get preggers and "balloon up" again, am interested to hear maybe that it isnt like that etc?

Re: Hi

Welcome, lil miss!

1. Were you all OUT of ketosis when you conceived?
No, mine was not planned. I splurged on Chinsese to knock me out of ketosis when I found out.

2. Are there any harmful side effects known if you are in ketosis when you conceive?
I've read different things that it can be harmful, and the effects are not known.

3. Have you found that your cravings are more severe now that you have done Atkins/LC?
The only thing I'm craving right now is oranges. No carb cravings. I'm only 5 weeks.

4. Are you gaining weight faster than with previous pregnancies?
This is my first.

5. Are you avoiding white flour and sugar successfully? Or is it just too hard?
Yes, so far!

Of course, I gained a few pounds after carb loading, but I only gained .5 pounds since then.

Good luck!

1. Were you all OUT of ketosis when you conceived?

NOPE in fact I had started taking CLA supplements and was doing KISS and was in deep ketosis. It took me a week or so to get out of it.

2. Are there any harmful side effects known if you are in ketosis when you conceive?

Don't know. Hope not! This baby seems ok...he's a BOY and after two girls that is a nice bonus!

3. Have you found that your cravings are more severe now that you have done Atkins/LC?

Nope, not at all. It was much easier to eat right. Started off around 50-60 carbs a day but they've been creeping up to 80-100 and lately way more than that. I've been backsliding since Halloween but have gotten back on the wagon. Would like to stay around 60-80 carbs a day.

4. Are you gaining weight faster than with previous pregnancies?

Nope I had gained about 8-10 lbs by 20 weeks and that is exactly where I was this time too. I gained 22-25 lbs overall with my first two girls and it seems like it's going to be in line with that this time too.

5. Are you avoiding white flour and sugar successfully? Or is it just too hard?

I was trying and doing well but failed miserably the last month or so and paid for it with a 6 lb gain in 4 weeks. Went from 8 lb gain at 20 weeks to 14.5 lb gain at 25 weeks. Oops! Am trying to keep weight steady for another week or two in order to get back on track.

1. Were you all OUT of ketosis when you conceived?

Nah, I was trying to get pregnant but still doing Atkins faithfully.

2. Are there any harmful side effects known if you are in ketosis when you conceive?

Hope not!

3. Have you found that your cravings are more severe now that you have done Atkins/LC?

I am way off the wagon and want NOTHING to do with a low-carb diet.

4. Are you gaining weight faster than with previous pregnancies?

No, I've gained less so far.

5. Are you avoiding white flour and sugar successfully? Or is it just too hard?

Too hard!

Glad to meet you, lil miss!!!!!!
