attn PCOS women who do NOT want to get pregnant

I just got home from the GYN (ok, and a stop at my favorite bar for a celebratory drink). Since hormonal therapy is out of the question for me, I was really begging to have my ovaries removed. Doc didn't agree to that at all, but she did tell me tonight about a newer procedure called endometrial ablation. My uterus will be filled with saline, which is then heated to 90 degrees CELCIUS, swished around for 10 minutes, then drained & swished with room temperature saline. This will get rid of TOM for the rest of my life. WOOHOO!!! At the same time, she will do a tubal. Since there is a very slight chance of pregnancy after the EA, and that pregnancy would be extremely high risk, a tubal is a good idea.

After bleeding for the better part of the past 1 1/2 years, I am soooo excited about this. I really tried to go the hormonal route, but it just wouldn't completely control things when I used creams. BCP are forbidden since I smoke, and progesterone pills affect me to the point that I pass out & end up in the ER. If you aren't TTC and are tired of horrible TOM's, you might want to talk to your GYN. 53 days & counting for me!!!

90 degrees C???? That's very high...almost boiling water! Make sure you don't get serious burns!! I am not a doctor, so obviously I don't know anything about this procedure, but make sure you are not the first patient getting this done!!!!

Here's a discussion forum you might want to visit for first hand experiences from women who have undergone this procedure.

kbgardengirl, THANK YOU!! I was going to do a search on this tonight, but figured I'd check for replies first. After reading the posts from others, I'm really glad I decided to do this.
