I'm out of lurk mode...

Hi everybody. I'm back! (No, I didn't get sick with asthma or start nearly rear-ending cars again)

Hubby has been trying to apply to nursing schools and research them and we've both been spending all our free time doing that, plus boning up for the various math / science exams.

Plus my work has been really busy, too.

Sylv, CONGRATS! Beca is a doll. I love the dramatic "just born" shot, too. I hope you are recovering well from the C-section.

I'm only 2 more days til 24 weeks and boy, oh boy, I look pregnant now. When I contemplate that there are 16 more weeks to go, I shudder to think about how I'm going to even get around!

I've been really good about low carb so far this week.

I was really good the first 4 days of last week, too, but then we got some upsetting news and I did go for some comfort foods. *sigh*

Unfortunately, even a few days of being bad seems to shoot the scale up to ridiculous heights. I've decided to stop weighing myself UNLESS I'm eating badly. That way I won't get discouraged when I doing the right things, and if I'm doing the wrong things, I can force myself to face facts and turn it around quickly.

So, here's a question for the day. Serious medical complications, aside, how close to your due date do you intend or in the past have you actually worked?

So far, so good, but part of me can't believe I'll believe to get up the endless steps to my office in the last month... Or that I'll be so uncomfortable or preoccupied that I'll be here in name only.

(Like that's not already difficult enough to deal with!)

Anyway, good morning ladies Hope everyone is doing well.

Hello!

Well to answer the question of the day I plan on working up until my 8th month. I get 120 days of sick leave pay so that's what I'm going to roll with.

I want to be able to relax a bit before having the baby and all he** break loose. You know no sleep and all!

Well will talk later!

I got woke up by this little one kicking me...not hurting..just tickling.

I look pregnant myself. I have really started to show. But I am almost halfway there and really ready for it to be here.

Well I have a lot of running around to do today. DH is home..so I gotta run.

Take Care

lucky lucky lucky!

cyn: 120 days paid?!? Wow. I'm drooling. They were talking about giving me 6 weeks unpaid, but I researched Maine state law and apparently I can take up to 10 unpaid and they have to allow it, although the employee and employer can agree to less.

Supposedly, I will be to work mostly from home with reduced hours after the baby is born, although the details haven't yet been worked out.

Sinnrah: I'm extra jealous of you! I wish I didn't have to work AT ALL after the baby comes. I can't imagine what it would be like to not have to worry about anything but taking care of little Olivia (and myself and the house...) That's sounds so nice right now.

Olivia likes the O.C.

I was watching my guilty pleasure last night in bed... Fox's The O.C. and the baby was jumping around and kicking like nothing I'd ever felt before, like she was doing the Riverdance or something.

I'm guessing that was from happiness, though... Maybe she was trying to tell Seth to pick Anna!

Good Morning, Ladies,

It's Thursday! One one more day until the weekend!

Even though it's pretty far in the future, I plan on working up until my due date. DH and I are trying to save as much money as we can during the next 7 months so we can move back to our home state. With the baby, we'd like to be closer to family.

My MS is a lot better today, although I'm having horrible bloating. My pants were so tight by the end of yesterday that I decided to wear a size larger today.

Well, I'm off to a meeting. I'll try to check back later. Have a wonderful day!

Sunnie

Hi everyone!

Hope everyone is doing good this morning. I was missing in action yesterday because I was on the road all day. It was yuck cause I had some terrible MS and had to keep pulling over and finding a bathroom. Its not that bad yet today (I'll keep my fingers crossed).

I also hope to work right up untill my due date. I'm the "bread winner" at the moment while my husband goes to school full time. Though, by the time the baby is born he should have a part time job and won't be taking as many classes.

Back to work...

Hi, everyone!

I had a horrible horrible cramp last night. I was immobile. Then 10 minutes later, poof, it was gone. No bleeding, so that's a good thing. I know this is supposed to be normal, but can you guys reassure me? It was pain like I've never had before.

SunnieGirl, we're moving closer to family too, except we hope to do that before the baby is born, before my 3rd trimester. Moving is a lot of hard work. I'm planning on working until then. I'm going to be a full time mom.

Have a great day!

Hi KatieN

I too have had crampy pains, achy pains, sharp pains, dull pains, shooting pains, you name it all over my lower abdomen at some point.

But I would say if the pain was so bad that you were immobile that maybe you should call your doctor, although I am not sure what they would want you to do. Maybe they'd just reassure you.

Here is a gross question but I have to ask. Are you sure these are cramps? Could they be gas pains? I know I have had gas pains so bad I could not move before or could only lay down in one position. They can be really sharp. Just wondering, since digestion is so messed up during pg.

Anyway we also moved during my pregnancy to be closer to family, from Oregon to Kansas City, and the nice thing is you won't be doing much lifting! Just kidding. It is awesome to have family around when the little bean is born

And you mentioned being a full time mom? I assume that means you are going to stay at home? I have been at home with 2 and 1 year old since the beginning and LOVE it. It does involve sacrifice and is a very hard job but I get to be there with my kids for everything and can't imagine it any other way.

Talk to you all later!
Abby

Hi All-

I plan on working for as long as I can. I pretty much fly a desk so that shouldn't be a problem. I'll probably take 2 months off and go back part time for the first 2 weeks of so...

I went home last night with the worst headach - it started at the back of my head and went down my neck. I got all hot and cold and nauseaus. Blech. I litterally got home, fed the cats and went to bed fully dressed. A few hours later DH, helped me get up and go to the bathroom and get into pj's. I still feel a bit off, but way better than I did.

See you all later!

Hola girls... Found a cool site that gives name analyses - http://www.kabalarians.com/index.htm

It's really cool... Described Hank and I to a "T"... Here's mine.

The name Jennifer creates a dual nature in that you can be very generous and understanding, but you can also be so candid in your expression that you create misunderstanding. You struggle with the requirement to soften your expression with tact and diplomacy and to consider the feelings of others. Difficulty in accepting advice or admitting that you may have made a mistake causes you to appear to be stubborn and set in your ways. Thus, you have too often created the wrong impression, and friendships have suffered.

Now, here are the names we're thinking about... I thought it would be cool to look up the name of your future baby!

IF IT’S A BOY…
The name of Ezra creates a quick, analytical, and clever mind; you are creative, versatile, original, and independent. You have large ambitions, and it is difficult for you to be tolerant and understanding of those who desire less in life or who are more slow and methodical by nature. Patience is not your forte. You do, however, have leadership ability and would never be happy in a subservient position. You are ambitious and aggressive by nature. You would be happiest in positions where you are free to express individually and creatively and where opportunities are not restricted; you desire freedom, and do not tolerate being possessed by others. You appreciate change and travel, and the opportunity to meet and mix with others, and to influence them with your creative ideas.

IF IT’S A GIRL…
The name of Penelope has given you an appreciation for many beautiful and refined aspects of life--music and art, literature, drama--and the outdoors, where you find much peace and relaxation, but it creates a far too sensitive nature. You sense and feel much that you do not understand, and sometimes you are alarmed at your thoughts and wonder about their origin. You rarely experience the tranquility that comes with stability of thinking or emotional control.

Abby,

The pain was right where my uterus would be, same place I get it during TOM. I, too, have bad bad gas pains (that's also how I figured out I could ge PG), and that's right below the rib cage. I'd take gas pain over this one anyday! I think I was immobile because I was too scared to move. I was sooooo scared that I was miscarrying... If it happens again, I'll call my dr.

I can't imagine not being at home raising my kid(s) either. I feel bad for people who have to go back to work. I wouldn't mind working at home if an opportunity was there. I'm sure I'll go back to work eventually, like after the kid(s) are in school. I'm glad my DBF supports this - both of our moms stayed at home to raise.

I can't wait until I tell them I quit! It's a good place to work for, but we're so short-handed, and they won't replace a guy they just fired yesterday. Budget reasons. They used to care about people, now all they care about is $$. Sorry, I'm venting...

Hello MommiesToBe!!

We finally have our network problems fixed at work and I'm able to be online on my OWN computer. YAY!! I hated always having to borrow a computer, even to send an e-mail. Anyways, I'm BACK!!

I've got baby fever big time, all of sudden I'm really starting to feel so connected and attached to BabyCass. I can't wait to meet her, 3 months seems sooooo far away. I'm sick of hugging my belly, I wanna hug HER!

3DIVA: I plan to work as long as I can. Right up till my due date and after if she decides to be stubborn and be late.

Okay ladies that already have babies: Tell me about braxton hicks contractions? I'm averaging 4 a day. They usually come when I've been in the car driving for awhile, last night I had one (a pretty intense one) when I was bending over getting laundry out of the dryer. I was bending and folding over and over.
Do BH's get stronger the bigger the baby gets? It feels like shes curls up into a hard ball right in the center of my belly. From what I've read these are fairly normal, but how many are normal? Daily, weekly??? Anyone know?

I have my Dr. appt. at 4:00 today so I plan to ask the Dr. about them too!

STACY - I can't be a help... I never had them with DD. Dunno why???

I would love to stay home with our baby, but we just can't right now, and it tears me apart inside. Either way though... This baby will be loved.

With Mackenzie I was scheduled for induction on a Thursday, 9/9/99 and had a dr. appt. on Tuesday morning, the 7th. I went in after my appt. and told my boss I was going to take the rest of the day and Wednesday off to rest up for Thursday. Well, I ended up going into labor that night on my own and had her on Wednesday, the 8th. So...I worked right up until the last day. I plan to do the same this time!

I won't be staying home with the baby but will take 8-12 weeks off!

STACY: I'm here!! Still hanging out...waiting to see a +!

I have used all of my OPK's, all during my fertile phase and they all came back -. I don't understand it. Now I feel like I've wasted them, but I used them all when they should have been telling me something!!

I've been having pain in my lower belly. I'm wondering if it's ovulation pain. DH and I have "tried" a bunch this month, so I'm hoping it works this time....

Sarah, are you charting your basal body temp and cervical fluid? If not, get "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Weisharr (sp?). It is an EXCELLENT book. She has stories in there that as soon as people start charing, they're PG the first cycle. Good luck!

Katie: I have been charting both things for 3 months now. It drives me insane. I have high soft cervix and egg white cervical fluid a lot. Not just when I'm ovulating. So then, I get confused and don't know when to expect it. I have no idea ovulation coming (because it seems to happen differently each month) and then one day my temp is up and I know I've missed it. It really is quite frustrating for me. Maybe I just don't get it. But I thought you weren't supposed to get EW fluid and stuff until you were just about to ovulate? I've had it 4 different times this month. Very sporadically.

Advice??

Stacy: It's nice to see you posting so much!!

Is it because your body tries to ovulate but can't? That can happen due to stress, physical or psychological, or illness or such.

I was on BCP for 10+ years, and after I got off, I had tons of cervical fluid - my OBGYN warned me about it too. It was confusing for me, too. I also saw mixtures of creamy and EW, so I didn't know how to interpret that. I read that some people just have more fluid than others. Does your EW come after sticky and creamy? The book says consider yourself fertile every time you see any fluid.

I heard about Vitex (chasteberry root extract), and I started taking it. It regulates your hormones and makes you ovulate. I got it from the Vitamin Shoppe. Start out by taking just 1 a day, and if you want, take it twice a day - it can make some people nauseous. A lot of people report ovulation pain, and I got it about 2 days before O. If you think you got PG, stop taking it - it can cause miscarriage.

The book says, if you've been trying for 4 months, it's time to get your hubby checked. Make sure his boys are swimming. I hope this helps. And keep on tryin'!

Thank you so much for the insight...I really appreicate it!!

I really can't think of anytime that I don't see fluid. The only time I don't check is during TOM. I was on BC for a year and a half. I told myself that we'd give ourselves a year of trying...this is our 6th month...
