WOE: Sort of Low carb - used to be on Atkins
Start Date: 09/08/2003
Women: Does anyone have normal TOM?

Ever since I started this WOE, my TOM has been out of whack. I am on BC pills, so I have always been extremely regular. Now, I am always spotting, and when I do get my period, I have it for at least 8-10 days.

Is there anyone that still has a normal TOM on this WOE, or is everyone experiencing some type of problems?

Just curious if it is just me.

Thanks.

Yep, TOM is unusual here too. I have been having periods every other month most times and if they do come monthly they are like every 40 days for about 7 days long and HEAVY. Never had all that before. Used to be very regular, light and 3-5 days. Its annoying. Good thing DH is "fixed" : ) lol

My one time so far was very weird......super light/spotting for two days, regular even flow for 3 days.

(no BC pills, but I do take other meds, which I am ashamed to say I missed a couple of days before, so that could be it in some weird way)

My TOM was nearly non-existent before this WOE. I had to take Provera just to get one, now TOM is normal again, not sure if that is a good thing or not, cramps are much worse now.

Mine is very regular every 28 days like clockwork where before it wasn't and now much lighter than in the past. I still go a full 5 days and it is heavy but not as bad.

Mine's very normal. I could set a calendar by it, and I'm not on contraceptive pills. Also, my PMS and cramping have gotten better. Actually, I'm rather surprised by this regularity, since I'm in my forties.

Mine hasn't gone back to normal yet! Last month I had a couple days of spotting mid-month and then nothing at all when it was "supposed" to come. I'm on BC pills, and its usually like clockwork with or without. While its nice to have a break from it, I think I'm ready for it to go back to normal! I never know what to expect each month!

I stopped my BC a month into this WOL. It is now heavier but that is normal for whenever I quit the pill. It has, however, stayed very regular tho. Thank goodness!

Mine has gone back to normal, finally! I had a three week TOM right around month 4 of this WOE. Definitely go to your doctor to rule anything else out. But heavy TOM is definitely a by product of losing weight. All the estrogen in the fat cells is released and the hormones go wonky. At least my doc said something to that effect. Hello, english graduate here.

My doctor put me on yasmin (a low dose pill) and I take it all the way through and don't take the placebo week. That way I don't worry about the whole thing at all.

Ugh! TOM!!

Before I started LC, it used to be completely weird. I would take a good week to get going, then it would hang around for another solid week, and take a couple more days to taper off. I never had cramps, though, so other than the obvious dent in my love life, it wasn't too bad.

NOW, it comes on like a freight train, and the cramping is horrible! However, it's more like normal in that it only takes about 2 days to get going and it's over much faster.

Gotta take the bad with the good I suppose.

I have been low-carbing since 2/2/03 and I am on birth control pills. I was on Alesse but am now on Ortho Tri-Cylcen(R) Lo. For a long time, my period was very regular and would commence on the Sunday or Monday after my last active pill.

For the past few (2-3) months, my period has been showing up 1-3 days earlier than expected (which can be a pain if I'm visiting the dbf ). Last month, it showed up 4 days early. When this issue first happened, I immediately called my gyno out of concern and was assured that so long as my period (even though early) continued as normal (or something to that effect, it has been a few months since I asked), then I was fine.

I was hoping to discuss things more fully with my doctor tomorrow at my regular appointment, but due to my being a temp and a job coming up out of the blue, I had to reschedule for the 24th. I hope that all is well, but I cannot help but be concerned about my cycle being slightly out of whack. Such things can be unnerving especially since I rely on my bcp. I am really looking forward to talking to my doctor about this. It's possible that the mass amount of weight that I have lost may be a factor. Since December, I've dropped 96lbs. On a similar note, I'm really looking forward to seeing my doctor since he had been bugging me about the fact that I should lose weight.

I'll try to remember to report back on how my future appointment goes.

Mine before this WOE was very heavy. Now is only heavy for 1 day out of 5. I am and always have been very regular, every 28 days.

Mine is VERY normal every 28 days on the dot. Last only 3 days and no cramping. However I don't take any BC pills or anything so I am not sure how that factors in w/this WOE.

I was like clockwork, about 28-30 days, just started on the pill 2 months ago, so still like clockwork.
