Women only - breast soreness

I'm curious, for those of you that have this, why is it? I never have sore b**bs but this week they are killing me. I'm wondering why this is as I haven't changed anything special. It's not TOM and I am not PG (took a test the other day just to be sure). I'm on the 3rd week of my pill, not a new one. Just curious as to why this may be. Any suggestions?

If you are anything like me... the last couple of pills on the third week start up the PMS machine... I get really sore and swollen boobs that week.. Just wear a good supportive bra and it should go away either the day before or the day of the period. It's funny because that is usually where I retain most of my water weight. Drink lots of water, that might help to flush it out faster!!

Have you been doing a lot of aerobic exercise??? Mine are killing me too. But, I've been running 2-3 miles a day and I know it's from too much bouncing! Boy, I'm having a hard time keeping a straight face, but I'm being serious. I think I need an extra strength sports bra.

It's funny, I haven't had sore boobs At TOM since puberty but now they have been slightly sore at that time. I am guessing that LC causes hormones to be different. For me they are probably more balanced but my body is not used to that. Just my guess.

Yup, it's hormones. I get the same thing, Always have, always will, probably. I've tried so many things to see if I can alleviate some of the PMS symptoms, but I'm almost ready to give up, and just live with it.

My last attempt is going on now, I've added 100 mgs of vitamin B6 a day, which I've read has helped women dramatically improve their soreness, and so far, it seems to have helped mine, (I get the soreness 10 days before the period begins, so I'm almost smack dab of the middle of those 10 days), but each month's TOM is different, so I will continue the vitamins to see if next month there's an improvement, as well. If there is, then I know I found a solution to that probme. Now, if I could find SOMETHING that will alleviate the cramps, naturally, and BEFORE they begin, so I NEVER feel them, I'd be a very happy camper.

Thanks for the replies. I might try adding the B6 to see if that helps. I'm not well endowed so that's not the poblem My Dh joked and said maybe it's growing pains. Wishfull thinking on his part. This is new to me, maybe it is due to LCarbing as I've been much stricter tha last few weeks.

Lucky - go get a new bra I haven't been running as much as I used to and never had this problem when I was running alot.

I'll try adding more water to flush it out, hopefully it will go away soon.

Just noticed your post and wanted to add that I had this sore breast problem for years - usually for a couple of weeks out of every month. It got so bad I had to take medication for the pain. Recently I added a Vitamin B Complex and Vitamin E supplements. I can't believe it but my breasts are not longer swollen and sore. I added the vitamins long before I started low-carbing and I'm glad to say that low-carbing has not made a difference.

Yes! That's exactly me! I'll have to try the Vitamin E as well (lol will try that with the B6 next month)

What about cramps? Did you have bad ones? If so, have those gotten better? And what did you do to make them better

i have the soreness problem every month a week before TOM. I want to see if taking B6 will help.
Should the B6 be taken every day, or just around that time?

For me, since I was not sure what to do with it--take it every day, and such, I elected to try it at first just around that time--roughly 10 days before TOM, and then quit taking it until that time again.
So far, it seems, this is working. But, I won't know for sure until I try it again next month, same routine.

The thing that worked for me. Not primrose oil capsules (this is often recommended and is the same ingredient as in borage oil, but less of it) BUT borage seed oil (1000 mg (supplying 240 mg Gamma Linoleni Cacid and 10 I.U. Vitamin E) - I take one a day of and the problem is almost non-existent. Also watch consumption of chocolate and coffee, especially. Borage oil is also fabulous for one's skin. I learned this from Dr. Atkins' Vita Nutrient Solution Book.

I suffered for years and the past year, I've been fine.

Is borage seed oil different from just plain old borage oil (1000 mg) I'm taking that, but it didn't do a thing for me. I even tried taking double the dosage for a few months, and nada, nothing.

I don't drink coffee and eat chocolate sparingly, already....

For the vitamins... I got a PMS pak at GNC that helps quite a bit... I am trying to figure out how to work it in with the Atkins vitamins... I think all I need to add is essential oils... the rest are coverec in the pak...I pay 19.95 for one months worth and it covers every thing but my extra vitamin C that I need.

Forgot to add that it includes lots of the B vitamins.. not just for soreness, but also energy and mood.

Am I crazy or did I once read on this board that Vit C can cause soreness, too? I too, have soreness since this WOE more than normal- and remember reading that, so cut back on Vit C suppliments excpet when I feel a cold coming on... or am I crazy and stopped taking them for another reason??

You know I saw someone else post that question a while back, but I could not find any information regarding this. I take vit C daily, and have for a few months, now. Mine were really bad last month, but I had added yogurt in a few weeks before....I wonder if the dairy had anything to do with how sore and crampy I was, or if the Vit C had finally caught up with me...

On a slightly off topic note, I will say I've switched to organic milk to make the yogurt, so I don't know if that switch had anything to do with it, or the vit B6 (maybe the combination) everything is not as bad as last month...so far at any rate...

Wow, I can't believe so many of you are suffering the same soreness as I am. I was not sure if this is the way it was supposed to be or not being that I had been on Depo for 10 years and quit getting the shot about 4 months ago and recently had my tubes tied. I have soreness 1/2 of every month (or two weeks prior to TOM) and it disappears as soon as TOM starts. VERY sore boobs. I mean OUCH!! Maybe I'll look into the vitamin E too since I should be getting plenty of B's in the Atkins basic's I'm taking (I pee out a lot of extra every day). Thanks for the thread!!

I don't know if the C contributes to soreness... but I do know if I don't take extra my entire body is covered in black and blue bruises that have no reason for being there!!

ErikaK, I think Borage seed oil and borage oil are one and the same thing. But now that you mention it, I take a full vit B complex supplement daily as well as Vit. E - and also only over the past year. So, maybe it is those two additions that have helped. Interesting! Oh well, take no chances, I'm going to continue with all of them.

Yep, I've had breast tenderness every month for a few days to 10 days before TOM for most of my adult years. I think there was a time after my first baby was born and before the second was born that I was fine - but the rest of the time - ouch!
