Mornin'!!!
Morning gals!! I’m feeling good today, well rested! The whole sleepy thing is getting better for me! Not that it won’t come back, but I do have more energy lately! Not much going on today, I have an orthodontic appt. at 11:30, and I always look forward to those – seriously. 1 step closer to getting rid of my tin grin!
Oh – here’s a brain stumper for the day, lol!!!........ Here’s the scoop – Mackenzie (4) has always had a pretty bad temper and has tested her limits on several occasions. For the most part she’s a good girl and listens well, just not lately. I’m NOT a pushover parent, nor do I make false threats. If I say, “If you do that again, X will happen,” and she does it again – X most certainly occurs. I’m not having much problem with her at home lately, but at preschool she’s really been something else for the past week. She actually threw a babydoll highchair on Tuesday, and her teacher told me about it. That night I took away television privileges, and also didn’t allow her to have any chocolate milk (both sacred to her). This seemed to have a good impact. We discussed why she had them taken away and what the proper way to behave is, and she’s plenty old enough to understand that. The next morning on the way to preschool we talked about it more. She assured me she’d behave Wednesday, etc… Welllllll – I picked her up yesterday and immediately asked her about her day. She told me she’d been good and was very excited about it. Okay – I believe her since no one told me differently (teach is gone when I pick up), and we roll on as usual. This morning her teacher tells me that yesterday she was very defiant, and while in time-out she was actually kicking the wall. Ridiculous behavior that I would NEVER tolerate! Her teacher even made her eat lunch all by herself, which is a good punishment for a social butterfly like my daughter. Teach said these just didn’t seem to phase her. What the heck?! I told her teacher this morning to please start calling me or leaving me a sticky in her cubby telling me how she behaved that day – after all, I can’t reinforce and discuss at home if I don’t know what happens during the day. Okay, now that I’ve given background – any ideas? I was thinking about heading over to Mailboxes Etc… and purchasing one of those calendar type boards and making some sort of reward chart. Although, I’m not sure how many consecutive ‘stars’ she should need before a reward, and what should the reward be?? |

Yes, I've talked to her about it a lot. Maybe that is why. I know one thing, I've GOT to get her under control, she's really losing her temper at school and it's not cool at all!

G'Mornin' Laura!
![]() Lauren - I wish I had some suggestions for you. I'm dealing with the terrible two's right now so I'm kinda in the same boat as you with the defiance. Hopefully someone out there has some advice for us. I know for me, I can really tell a difference in my daughter when I don't spend quality time with her. She mopes around and is just really pissy about everything. Maybe you could spend a "girls day out" with her and take her shopping or paint each others toe nails or something?? Something girly. Any seasoned mommies out there with some advice? I'm feeling like poop today. I'm still at work and I have to be back in less than 6 hours for another split shift. I'm off tonight though but I'm going on very little sleep right now and I'm not going to get much before having to come back today. By the time I get home and get to bed and then up again, I'll only have about 3 hours of sleep. Ugh. Oh, and I don't remember who it was that popped me yesterday but thanks! It worked. ![]() Gotta go ... I'll check back in tonight. Have a great day girls! |

Morning LADIES!!
I'm not sure whats going on? I didn't have a PM from Shorty? Can someone let me know?Still busy getting settled!! I forgot to tell you guys, I went to the Dr. last Thursday and GUESS WHAT??? I gained 10 pounds in one month!!! Holy *****!! I almost cried. I've cut some things out of my diet so hopefully that will help. I don't ever want to have another 10 pound gain! The month prior I had only gained 1 pound so maybe my body was just catching up. Either way I need to really start watching what I'm eating. Thats 23 pounds all together now and I still have a long way to go! YIKES! Cassidy is kicking SO much now, Mike finally felt her kick for the first time last Saturday that was pretty exciting. I'm worried about Summer, I wonder if she was put on bedrest or something? Say an extra prayer for her and her baby, okay?

Morning Stacy!!! I didn't get a PM either so someone please share with both of us ! I can't wait to feel a kick!! and Mike already has too?? cute! My hubby is looking forward to that too. He keeps putting his ear on my belly trying to hear a heartbeat and talking to them
Sorry you are upset about your weight gain. I go back to the doc Monday and don't think it is gonna be pretty!! But you have lost it before, you can do it again. We can just make the best choices we are able to--which sometimes for me just aren't very good! I am so hungry lately too--which isn't helping!Lauren and Heidi--Sorry you are having problems with your girls. I wish I had some advice but I don't....Good Luck! Hello everyone. Hope You are all having a great start to your Thursday.
![]() I am doing well today. I actually slept really well last night. I propped up a bunch of pillows so I was sleeping on an incline, and it was actually really comfortable. I only woke up 1 time. 3Diva - Actually Olivia is only 1 of 2 of my Girl names (Isabel is the other). So no worries yet, I have not officially picked either one. I am one of those who needs to actually see my baby's face before I can completely decided on a name. Shorty - Not sure what happened, but hey, bygones. If you want to come back to our thread we will be here. Lauren - I think you are on the right track. Keep talking to her about her behavior and remind her how important it is for her to be a big sister. She could be acting out (as others said) because of the new baby that is coming, so talking to her about her feelings hopefully will help. I think your calendar idea sounds like a good one. Big (((((huggs)))))) to all the Mommies today! ![]()

Morning Misbadu! I am using alot of pillows too. I just bought a body pillow from WalMart for $5 !!! I love it and it seems to help me get comfortable--although my husband thinks it is so big, it is like having an extra person in our bed

Morning Mommies!
I actually feel better today. Yesterday afternoon I experienced some bleeding. Spotting brown blood. Called the Dr's and headed straight to bed. It seems to have stopped and I decided to take today off. I'm still a little freaked, because the cramping hasnt stopped but I've read everything I could get my mits on and it all says this can be normal. Lauren - your consistency and clear expectaions will go a long way, as will improved communication with the teacher. I suspect Misbadu is right, she is looking for a way to express herself. Shorty- embarassing stuff happens on the boards. If it had been something really bad the administrators would have stepped in. You are always welcome here. If you want your anonimity (cant spell that) change your name and come hang with us. Lowcarbinmama - my weight is doing wild bounces. Maybe your appointment just happened on the high end of a bounce? Further, lots of people say they didnt gain much in the last 2-3 months. Heidi - get some sleep girl! Everyone else - Hi! ![]()

Shorty- not sure what happened but we will miss you. Please come back if you change your mind. Maybe you can wait for the dust to settle on the playground and then come back in. Good luck.
Looper- are you having two babies? I just caught your post that your hubby tries to hear their hearbeats? That's awesome if so. Lauren- we have a 5 year old with a fiery temper that throws her fair share of fits! We used a reward/ punishment system that pretty much broke the rebellious cycle. We worked with her teacher on a daily basis, sending back and forth, a progress report. When she got a smiley face, she'd get a treat. Maybe 15 more minutes of tv before bed, a favorite snack, new book etc. The days we got a frowny face, well.... she lost something. Either 15 min of playtime while her sister stayed up, snack restriction after dinner, losing favorite barbie, etc. Because their memories are so short and also their attention spans, they have to be rewarded/ punished the same day. You can't roll over either on. Of course we made a big deal and praised her alot on the good days which outnumbered the bad. She's doing much better. There were a few times that nothing worked and she was physically violent when she didn't get her way- and well... we do have a paddle for those occasions which are rare. We both grew up on spankings and about 3 times a year, our girls need "tough love" and lots and lots of talking through the hard times. The paddle ALWAYS gets their attention and the tantrums stop. Hi to everyone! |

Morning TRACY!
Good thing Laura, 2 babies would be fun but YIKES what a handful. Especially for a first time mom. HAve you ordered any of your bedding yet? What color do you plan to paint the babies room? We are painting Cassidys a real pale yellow, it's called Buttercream (I think) one of the Martha Stewart colors. I can't wait till her room is all done. |

STACY- I would be really overwhelmed with 2 I think!!!
I am getting the bedding tomorrow at PBK--definitely doing Moon and Stars. I think that will be ok for boy or girl I hope so. We are doing a yellow nursery too--I can't remember the color--something we found at Lowes. I'll probably do that in a couple weeks. I really want to be finished with the main stuff by xmas and just worry about fillers..... |

Did you do any heavy exercise, sexual intercourse, recent pap smear, is it close to when a menstrual cycle would have occured for you? All those things can contribute. ((hugs)) I know that's scary. Name update: Hubby is still not thrilled about Olivia, but really likes Catherine. Now he's trying to bargain with me. "You name this one, I name the next one." I don't think I'm falling for that, though... LOL

Well I didnt get a pm...so I dont know what happened.
But honestly I have been feeling the same way...ya know about leaving this thread. Nothing personal towards anyone. I just feel the need to leave. I dont actually get too much out of the thread and I feel awful most of the time w/ all the weight I have gained. Everyone seems to be doing so good w/ their pregnancy and I am doing awful. Not doing maintenance or anything. Just eating what i want and not exercising. So I feel like I should leave to. But I have made my decision just yet. It is just passing thought. ![]()

I am a little new here, but have been lurking for months. Despite how much weight you have gained or bad you might be eating- this thread is for support and guidance. Noone judges here. If you leave because it's not what you want here or you are bored- that's different- but I can't imagine why you would want to leave just because you have gained a little extra weight. You provide alot of advice and information here and we look forward to your posts just like the other regulars here. |

Sinnrah: I am confused too. I don't know anybody on here eating maintenance really....I know I am not!!! Somedays I eat good but most days crappy. I go back to the doc on Monday to weigh in--
I look forward to everyone's post. I get excited to read what everyone is going through and to send Sarah baby dust and I can't wait for her day. That is what " I get out of it"....I don't have any friends pregnant right now so I enjoy sharing how I am feeling or what I am up to...I try to give advice or suggestions when I can. I look forward to hearing all the details from everyone--even on days I don't post--I always read. I never judge anyone and I don't think anyone here does by their posts. Everyone is supportive. and I don't exercise AT ALL. I am sorry you feel like leaving. I hope you don't. We would miss you and hearing about your pregnancy!!! (hugs) Take Care! Laura |

I guess you gals are confused lol. I feel like I am not w/ the game. And I know this board is for support etc. But I dont feel w/ it for some reason.
And the reason I would leave is not because of the xtra weight. It would be for the fact that I dont feel I get what I need from here. I think you ladies are great so please dont get the impression it is anything against anyone..it isnt. It is just me... Like I said too it is not a final decision..just something that has been in my passing thoughts. Last edited by Sinnrah : 10-30-2003 at 09:48 AM. |
