Thanks for all the hugs, everybody!
I have such bad placenta brain, I just posted on the wrong thread!
Mrs Sarah: look at Monday's thread ![]() Hi everybody. I have exactly 5.5 hours until my ultrasound and I'm sure today will be very productive at work. LOL I actually slept in my bed last night! Yay! DH said I didn't even cough. Anyone want to weigh in with a last minute guess for the ultrasound? Girl, Boy, or "No Confidence" ![]() |

Howdy!
I had my 6 month appointment yesterday. It was supposed to be on Friday but the doctor had to deliver a baby so it was rescheduled. I gained 3 lbs in the last month which is much better than I thought it would be. That puts me at 22 lbs total. I've been craving donuts and had a couple KrispyKremes too many! My blood pressure was 120/70 which is good and the heartbeat was at 140 bpm. I don't know how big I measured because we were talking at the time and he didn't tell me. What we were talking about is what I'm worried about. I've been having pain under the right side of my rib cage for about 3-4 days now. I thought that I might have just stretched too far and didn't realize it, or that the baby might be poking me or something. But the doctor is concerned that it's my gall bladder. I have several of the other gall stone symptoms too but thought it was just associated with the pregnancy ... pain between my shoulder blades (which I thought was because my boobs are too heavy), pain in my right shoulder (which again I thought was because my boobs are too heavy), abdominal bloating, indigestion, gas, occasional nausea, etc. I figured all these things were just a part of being pregnant but then the pain started and that's what's got me worried now. He said that if it doesn't ease up in about a week or so to call him and we'll either do a Bile Acid test or an ultrasound to look for stones. He also suggested that I eat a fatty meal to see if it makes it worse but since I'm trying to stay somewhat on Atkins maintenance, most of my meals are high fat. I guess I need to try to eat low fat for a while and see if that makes a difference. Anyway ... he gave me some other warning signs and said that if I notice anything to call him right away. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that I over-stretched and all the other "symptoms" are just due to the pregnancy. Although he said that pregnancy can cause stones too because of elevated estrogen. Ugh!I had a breakdown on Saturday night, right before I had company over too! I've just been really depressed lately and I don't like the way I'm treating DH, I'm a lot less tolerant with my daughter and I don't even like being around myself!! I called my mom and just started bawling. She said that she felt depressed often during pregnancy too but there's not much that can be done. I asked my doctor about it yesterday and he said that if I want, he can send me to a counselor to determine if I need meds. I DON'T want to do that. I think I just need more sleep or something. The next day I felt great though so I guess it was just a surge of emotions that led up to an explosion. My belly button hurts. I keep bumping into things with my belly and it's so darn sensitive! Lauren – Thanks for the compliment on my little Halloween kitten. I think it really sucks that we can’t show pics on our siggy anymore. They should restrict the size or something but not take them away all together. 3Diva – I say it’s a girl. Good luck … how exciting!I’m not feeling very well today. I think the smoke in the air from the fires is really getting to my sinuses and draining into my stomach. I just feel like yuck. Oh, and I have my glucose test waiting for me in the fridge. I’m not looking forward to it, not because it tastes bad because it really doesn’t, but I’m not looking forward to not being able to eat and having to drink something so sweet on an empty stomach. Ewww. I better get to work. Have a great day everyone! |

Heidi - I totally feel your pain on being less tolerant with both hubby and daughter, I am the same way. Sometimes I just get soooooooooo b*tchy and have a really hard time snapping out of it. I hate getting so out of control, ya know!
What will they do to control your gall bladder during pregnancy? What are the consequences if it continues to act up? I had my gall bladder out when I was 19, about a year before I got preggo. I had severe issues for about a year (from 18-19) until they finally were able to diagnose me and did immediate surgery. Thank goodness they were able to do laproscopic, but he said if he would have realized just how bad my gall bladder was decaying and how big and gross it was that he'd have given me the big 'ol slit! Have you ever had problems before, and do they think you'll need to have it out? |

Lauren - WooHoo! I can't wait to hear all about the appointment! I hope all goes well. Maybe they will be able to hear the heartbeat!!
My doctor didn't give me too much information on how they would treat it, if that is in fact the problem. He just told me that they would need to do an u/s as a best diagnosis. I don't know if they can do surgery while being pregnant and I'm not sure I'd want them too! I guess the consequences would just be continued pain until I'm able to get it out. I really need to do some research on the subject because I'm pretty clueless. I thought it was just a muscle strain so I was pretty floored and kinda scared when he suggested it could be my gall bladder. It all makes sense though with the symptoms. I've never had problems with it before. From the little bit looking I have done on the topic, apparently a lot of the population has stones and just doesn't know it. The problems don't arise until there's a blockage and for some people, that just never happens. He did some pushing and ruled out that it's the baby because the pain is above my uterus. Some of the pushing was a little tender and some wasn't. It seems better when I switch positions too and it's not a constant pain ... just a dull ache with an ocassional increase in pain. Were you in a lot of pain with it? It just seems like the pain would be worse if it were serious. What were the issues you had that led to the diagnosis? Heidi - I have been having very similar symptoms as you. Kindove sharp pains in between my shoulder blades and sometimes right behind my left breast. Sometimes its a dull ache and other times its a shooting pain. I just assumed it was gas or indigestion, and just assumed it was due to pregnancy...but now I am thinking maybe its more.
Keep us updated. As far as the emotional stuff I can totally relate! I am single, but I have thought several times that if I had a husband/sig. other I would surely be driving them nuts. 3 diva - I vote no confidence. only because at my 20week ultrasound they were unsure and said their best "guess" was a boy, but not to paint the nursery blue. So needless to say I was disappointed. I really wanted to know. Lauren - Hopefully you will get to hear the heartbeat, I got tears in my eyes at my first appointment when I heard that. Shorty - keep us updated !!! ![]() Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!!

Hello and Good morning!
Hey Lauren you must post about your doctor's appt. I know you are so excited. When I went to my appt (had to go early) my DH went with me too. I'm sure it will be quite an adventure for your husband. I have so much energy today. Me and DH went to work out this morning. I am feeling so much better! I have to go take my son to an orthodontist appt today. I am so hoping they will say you can get those darn braces off. It seems like this appts have taken over my life. He has had them on for almost a year now. Anyways it's so slow at work lately. I am happy for that. Went to choir practice at church last night and a fight almost broke out. Gesh is anyplace safe anymore. Right now I am eating hashbrowns, cheese omelette and english muffins, with a hot chocolate. A total of 95 carbs already. WOW! Oh well... Take care ladies and God Bless! |

Good morning!
Jenn, congrats on tying the knot!!! I hope you're enjoying the honeymoon. ![]() Heidi, I'm sorry to hear about your worries... I hope it's just a stretch, like you said. Shorty, let's hope you get those contractions under control! Hopefully if they have to admit you to the hospital, it won't be for very long. I know I would have had a hard time staying in bed day in and day out, attractive though it may sound LOL. Misbadu and Heidi, I too can relate to feeling emotional and irrational. Hang in there and know that it's temporary! My hat's off to you Misbadu for taking on this adventure as a single mother. You must be a very strong person, which is a wonderful quality you'll pass on to your son or daughter. Same old, same old on my end. Had my weekly appointment with my midwife yesterday and my blood pressure rose to 85/120, when it's been pretty stable at 60/120 or 70/120, so she was a little concerned about that. She took it again after I lied down for a while and it went down to 79/120. My hands and feet have also been constantly swollen for the past few weeks, which she said was to be expected at the end of a pregnancy, but she still wants to keep an eye on me. I don't have any other symptoms of pre-eclampsia though, so that's a relief. I've really let myself go food-wise and have been having stuff like desserts, fries and pasta, and am wondering if that may have anything to do with my pressure going up. *sigh* I don't really feel like being good! Brian massaged my back last night and I slept soooo well! I'm hoping we can make this a regular routine. ![]()

Thanks Lauren - I've had some VERY uncomfortable indigestion too but I'm not doubled over in pain. That's why I think that maybe it is just a strain and not gall stones. We'll see though. I'll give it another week or so and see if it improves.
I'm glad I'm not the only one on an emotional roller coaster. I feel like such a b*tch lately and I can't help it! Gotta love hormones ... NOT! Everyone else, I'll be back for replies later. Gotta get some sleep. |

Sylv - Good to hear from you...man you are so close. Hopefully you will not go overdue too much. I am already getting anxious to have this baby, I can not imagine how I will feel when I am at 40 weeks.
Thanks for the positive feedback about being single. I did not plan this pregnancy, I was freaked the first day I found out. More freaked because I had broken things off with my boyfriend a month earlier, but deep down I was happy. Now I am really excited and feel very lucky and blessed! I have to agree with you about the eating...I have really strayed! Halloween does not help. I ate 3 of those mini- reeses candies yesterday. Could not resist! Some days when I get it in my head that I have to have something, and there is no stopping me! I am trying to keep it in check. Some days I do great, others not so good. When I have an emotional break down I usually follow it up with some sort of chocolate something to make me feel better! Oh well...just telling myself to get through the pregnancy, try to enjoy each cheat, because after baby is born, I am getting on the induction train! |

You folks are so cool. I was thinking about posting how moody I'm feeling but I didnt want people to think that all I do is complain... I'm glad I'm not alone. I considered calling out sick today, not b/c I am sick but because I'm in a foul mood and I cant be bothered to try to change it. I dont feel like doing anything, or being around anyone. So I'm hiding in my office...
Heidi - Yikes on the gallbladder! I had mine out about 3 years ago. I had a few attacks - felt like a bad backache and that the motrin I took irritated my stomach... I had no idea that they were gallbladder attacks for a couple of years. I know what you mean about the depression. I find that i do better when I'm busy and looking forward to things. 3Diva - on the ultra sound - I vote no confidence. My DH wants to know but I'm hoping that she keeps her legs shut!Lauren - enjoy your first appointment! Hope DH is going too. Shorty - Yikes on the contractions! Hope your appoinment goes well and they develope a good plan. Cynthia - good to see you back and feeling well. Sylv - I is so cool that you are in the final streach. Hope you blood pressure stays under control. Take it easy. Have a good day all.

Misbadu - you posted while I was writing. Go you for being exited and happy. I'm a little annoyed at myself that I am letting the physical discomforts get in the way of my joy. I feel like its going to be forever before I can go back on induction b/c of the whole breastfeeding thing...

Hi everyone-
how are you all? I have been reading all the posts and am soo pressed for time- I will have to do personals a little later. Slyv- are you dying to have that baby yet??? I bet you are miserable. Those last few weeks are the worst! Good luck! Any dilation or thinning yet? Lauren- I can't wait to hear your results!!! We want full details! 3Diva- the anticipation must be gnawing at you! I wouldn't have been able to sleep! Are you getting a 3D anytime soon? They are awesome! I have a terrible cold. What do you guys take for relief? Anything? I had my first preliminary appt this morning. They weighed me (up 4 lbs ) and took my BP. Normal. They also did a blood test just to be sure I am pg and I will get the results at 2:00. It's 11:20 now.I have not been cranky yet (thank God) just really tired and feeling yuk. Can't wait until the end of next week when I can hear the heartbeat or maybe have an U/S. Have a great day everyone, back later |

Misbadu - Thank you very much for the link. i had caught a piece of the "Great BreastFeeding/Ketosis Debate" but the thread was great for more information. I feel like that decision is so far away now. I'm probably going to look at soemthing that is modified, but I'm a little flipped about the ravenous appetite that people were describing.
On another note I have officially outgrown my first piece of clothing. I CAN NOT WAIT to get home so I can take these pants off! ![]() |

Hello everyone, hope you are all fine.
Heidi: Didn't know you were in Southern California, we are in Escondido and the fires are VERY close to us, just a few miles on either side (Poway and Valley Center) Schools have been cancelled this week in all 42 districts and people, if they go outside, are wearing masks. The smoke is horrible and it is going to take a long time to clear up. Escaped and went up to Disneyland Sunday and Monday to get away, it was great, not crowded. But today...we're all cooped up watching movies. My kids are driving me nuts. Sorry to hear about your gallbladder. I had a stitch under my ribs that started around 30 weeks or so but it was the baby shoving her feet under my ribs (both girls did this) No other symptoms though. I hope you get some answers. Tigerlily

Hey everyone
About the breastfeeding thing, not to add to controversy but I will. I have nursed twice while in ketosis and it was just fine. Milk supply was great. I felt good. Babies grew well. My daughter has always been very thin but still is at almost 3. As long as you are not starving yourself I think it is just fine. About the gallbladder issue. I had a chronic pain below my right shoulder blade during my last pregnancy. And I do get plenty of aches and sharp pains all over my abdomen. Even if the pain isn't coming from your uterus, the uterus is certainly squishing all your other organs together, and that hurts. Hopefully it is just a muscle or ligament for you and not the gallbladder. But it is good that your doctor is being proactive and keeping an eye on it! Lauren, I am eagerly awaiting your dr.'s appointment update! And Tracy, won't it be too early to hear the heartbeat at your appointment next week? I went in at 9 weeks and couldn't hear a thing even though the doctor tried for a lonnnng time. With my other two I heard it right around 10 weeks. Just don't stress if they can't hear it yet. I ate like a major pig all weekend, I think becuase I don't have to go back to the doctor until mid-November so I have time to get back to smart eating. But all I can think about is grilled cheese and kids cereal! (and chinese food and Long John Silvers) My husband and I are the children's ministry directors at our chuirch, and we have a midweek program that meets every Wednesday night. We are all dressing up in costumes tommorow for church. This summer I found the PERFECT costumes, all for 5 dollars at a garage sale and all in new store bought condition. My husband is going to be the McDonald's Hamburgler, my 2 year old girl is going to be a cup of McDonald's soda, my 1 year old son is going to be McDonald's fries, and I get to be a Big Mac. So flattering. Little did I know I'd be pregnant and showing by Halloween, so it worked out really well. We are seeing my husband's brother and his family and are not telling them about this baby yet so I can keep it a secret under my Big Mac costume. Talk to you all later!
