Hi girls!
Man, I've been out of the loop for SO LONG now! I've been reading just about everyday but I've been so busy with work and family that I use up all my free time reading instead of posting. I'm really going to try to be better about that because I miss posting here! Here's a question that I know has been brought up before but I want to do it again. How many carbs are you guys consuming a day? I work nights so my days start roughly around 5pm. It's now 10pm and I've already consumed 88 grams of carbs, 61 grams of protein and 22 grams of fat. I know where the carbs came from ... 1 cup of cottage cheese, 1 cup of non-fat milk, 1 medium banana and 2 slices of whole wheat bread (that was the killer). But, none of this stuff is technically "bad" for you right? I'm eating wheat instead of white and I have to get some calcium in so I chose milk and cottage cheese (which packs in some protein too). I know the banana was a killer too but it helps with my leg cramps. As you can see in my stats, I've gained a lot of weight already and I'm pretty pissed at myself for allowing it to happen. I've finally started keeping a FitDay diary again and it's helping to track what I'm eating. But now I'm concerned because my day isn't even half over yet and I'm already at 88 carbs! And I'm still hungry!! How do you get calcium, potassium, etc. and still stay out of ketosis? Are vitamins enough?I'll be back later to check in again and hopefully do some replies. Oh, and here's a belly pic ... I'm 22 weeks and I'm having a really bad hair day so don't mind my face or the expression on it. But you can see how my face is expanding with the rest of me ... Sorry it's so big ... I don't even look like the same person anymore! ![]() BTW, Sylv - I LOVE your newest belly pic! You look so awesome! Last edited by Heidi-M : 10-08-2003 at 06:23 AM. |

It doesn’t sound like you’re making bad choices in food at all, and the carbs that you are eating aren’t horrible ones. I eat apples, bananas, etc… sometimes anyway, even when I was following Atkins pre-pregnancy. Good luck!! Oh – I’m not able to see your belly picture and I want to… ![]() |

Thanks PF! I don't think my choices are awful either lately but I keep gaining! I sure hope the nausea passes for you soon. I think I wasn't in the clear with feeling sick until around 13-14 weeks and I started around 6-8 weeks. Yuck. What does PF stand for anyway?
![]() I don't know why the picture won't come through. It was there when I first posted it. ![]() OMG! I just saw your new siggy! YOU'RE FREAK'N GORGEOUS! Last edited by Heidi-M : 10-08-2003 at 05:55 AM. |

#2...
I think I mentioned before that the last time I was pregnant I had to take iron supplements and got SOOOOO constipated. It was awful. Either that, or when I could go it was a miserable experience that lasted forever! Anyway, this week I've had to introduce some carbs (crackers, toast) into my diet to fight nausea, and I can tell such a difference...usually I'm very regular, go with no problems, etc... This week has been herendous! I actually ate a couple of those metamucil wafers for breakfast this morning with milk, and if it works I'll eat them every day. I'll do what I gotta do!
Oh - and I'm not going to apologize for giving TMI.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I was 150 when I got pregnant, and was 204 at delivery!!! INSANE to think about it now, haha!! Of course, back then I had lost about 20 pounds (was 170) prior to getting pregnant, and had been doing Richard Simmons Food Mover. When I got pregnant I reverted to old habits which meant regular sodas, fast food, etc... Plus, I was 20 years old, young, and not very health conscious! I've changed a ton since then, and know I'll do much better this time. Anyway, I'm rambling.... PF stands for the city I live in ![]() Thanks for the compliments on the new sig. line! I just love that picture of me and 'Grampy', as Mac calls him! ![]() |

Well Rested!!! Yay!!
Feeling good today! I was asleep by 8:30pm last night and slept in until 5:30am...9 hours of snoozing for me, which is doing pretty good!
![]() I'm sure I'll be fussing about being tired as the day goes on...but for now I'm a happy camper!! Nausea isn't bad this morning either - those metamucil wafers may be good in more way than one. Guess we'll see!! ![]() Last edited by MrsIndpndent : 10-08-2003 at 06:12 AM. |

LAUREN: Great picture!
HEIDI: You look great too! I'm now 19 weeks and have gained 13 pounds!! Actually probably more like 15 at my next appt., I'm eating like crap and can't seem to control myself. It seems like at least once a week I just NEED a cheeseburger from McDonalds. I'm trying to walk 4x a week and eat good for brekkie and lunch but dinner is always a free for all. *sigh* I'm looking so forward to induction after this baby comes. Morning LAURA!! TRACY: Where are you? SARAH: I miss you too, how are things going? Are you getting a better handle on your cylce from charting? I think of you a lot girly. ![]()

Heidi, what are you talking about, you look AWESOME!!! And your eating seems fine to me. I haven't been keeping track of my carb count so I couldn't help you there, plus I haven't exactly been an angel lately. I've gained a total of 38 lbs so far, which, at 5'2", is more than I hoped for, but I'm not going to stress over it. I hope to see you around posting here more often!
![]() PFgal, wow, what a beautiful wedding picture. Looks like it must have been a fairy tale wedding! I had a great night too, only got up twice and slept in until 8:30. Plus it looks like it's going to be beautiful, summer-like weather here all the way to Sunday. Yay!

Heidi: I can't believe you are only 4 weeks ahead of me. You are all belly though, what are you talking about, you don't look horrible at all. I NEED to take a belly pic but so far it just looks like a beer gut so I haven't.
I eat a lot of carbs. Some days as low as 50, some days over 100 and lately I've been making baaaaaaad food choice like chow mein, brownies, french fries, lemon bars, ice cream! I took the kids to Disneyland this weekend and am paying for it big time because I gained 1.5 lbs! So I've gained a little over 7 lbs now. My goal was 8 lbs or less by 20 weeks (which is in 12 days) so I fear I might not make it, lol. But I shouldn't complain because 7 lbs is not a whole lot for 18 weeks I guess. I don't know what to tell you, it sounds like you are making good food choices. Maybe you are just one of those people who retains a lot of water? PFGal: That wedding photo looks like an advertisement in Bride Magazine. You are lovely. Tigerlily

No such thing as too much information around here!
Lauren, I am experiencing the same problems with all day queasiness but so far eating low-carb during the day has been working, although I eat a zucchini fried with mozzerella cheese every day for lunch - that is all that sounds good, at least it is healthy, right? Heidi, try not to stress about gaining at this point, it sounds like you are eating very healthy foods. During my 2 pregnancies I was a total hog and gained 50 pounds with each, yuck. You don't have to pig out but you may find the weight gain varies week to week. Sometimes I gained a ton and other weeks I gained nothing. It is not all perfectly gradual like some doctors say. I started out this pg at about 125. My goal is to stay under 130 during the first trimester, but I also added a high carb dinner every night so that results in 2-3 pounds of water gain anyway. When I eat a ton of junk I can get as high as 129.5 but over the next few days I go back down to under 127. I wonder if this goal is realistic when you start your pregnancy at a normal/low weight? Any ideas? I also am starting to have problems with "digestion" and "elimination" and have been taking stool softeners but it doesn't seem to help much and I think it is making me retain water too. Let us know if the metamucil helps. Maybe some flax muffins might do the trick too? Talk to you all later! (waiting for Tracy's test results!)

STACY: Things are going fine. I'm still charting away. I so want this month to be it. I can not wait to be pregnant. I know I've said that before, but it's really hitting me hard this month for some reason. I am temping everyday and checking cervical fluid and position. I want to make sure I'm doing everything at the right time. I'm pretty sure Mason thinks i've lost my mind. LOL!!
I really miss you too. I'm so glad you are doing well. How's Mike? (((HUGS))) xoxo. |

Hello everyone!
Today I experienced my first real symptoms beside sore breast. I am so exhausted I can't stand it. I want to take a nap right here at my desk. I was just reading that at 6 1/2 weeks my baby's heart has started to beat. I just want to cry. I didn't get any sleep last night. We are having some work done on our house and the people didn't leave until almost 9pm. So then I try to clean up a bit from the disaster they made but I became so tired I gave up. Well I hope when the vitamins start kicking in I won't feel so tired. (Cynthia yawning) Anyone have any advice on something I could do, or eat. I hear pretzels are suppose to work but not for me. Thanks I hope everyone has a blessed day! BTW who knows how to insert a picture on here? Thanks |

Cynthia - I'm totally exhausted all the time, too! I think it's a 1st trimester thing, I was the same way with my last pregnancy. It should get better in the 2nd trimester, and then the tired-ness is sure to return in the 3rd...so we really can't win, haha!
My boobs are totally sore, and I hate it! Poor Mackenzie accidentally laid down on my chest really hard last night (not meaning to be rough) and I nearly went into orbit! What is your actual due date? Mine is May 30th, just a day before our first wedding anniversary! I'm 6 1/2 weeks also, so our due dates are probably very close! |
