I’m doing well, and my weight is still steady. One thing that started around Friday – I wake up every morning STARVING!!! And nothing Atkins-friendly will do. I crave toast, crackers, or something like that. The thought of bacon, cheese, etc… is NOT at all appetizing 1st thing in the morning. It’s not that I feel genuinely nauseous, other than just that nausea that comes from extreme hunger, ya know. Anyway, I got some whole wheat crackers and some of the white cheddar baked cheez-its (not too bad) to have in the morning if I need it until this stage passes. As the day goes on I usually feel okay, but in the morning I just can’t bring myself to eat my ‘norm’.

Morning Ladies!

Less carbs: I hope your mini traumas weren't too severe! I had a few crying jags this weekend...i think the pg hormones are back in full force.

Gal: i LOVE LOVE LOVE white cheddar cheezits. those are like my only craving lately.

i can't believe i am 31 weeks already! i lost 3 lbs at my last doc appt...must be some of that water weight coming off now that it has cooled off in Chicago!

Wow sjoy, you are nearly there!!! Yay!!

I'm worried about the changes over the weekend...like now - I'm STARVING!!! In the fridge here at work I have yogurt and cheese cubes, and in my office I have nuts and other low-carb snacks. All of it makes me want to yak!!! I just want some crackers or something like that. If I give in to this, won't I gain like a hog??!! Help!

Gal: No, you won't gain like a hog! Your body is telling you what it needs. Seriously, just eat whatever you can to get through the nausea at this point. Saltines and peanut butter worked really well for me. If you want to be even better than that there are some lower carb crackers out there. At groceries in Chicago they sell crackers called "Stoned Wheat Thins" these are not Wheat Thins like we know in the yellow box...they are in a blue and white box and the "mini" ones you can eat like 20 with only 20 or some grams of carbs. these were a life saver for me!

sjoy - I think you're right, and I'm just going to have to eat what I have to eat to get through it. I ate a few bites of yogurt about a 1/2 hour ago but couldn't bring myself to eat any more. I did find some lower carb crackers at the store that are a stone wheat sort - I'll have to start bringing a few to work with me. I just headed up to the snack fund and got some peanut butter crackers that are doing the trick. I'm not sure if I'm genuinely nauseous, or just hungry for a certain type of food - I'm thinking it's the latter of the 2.

SHEREE - Yeah... Details!

LAUREN - I bought some crackers too, but was able to find some made by Hain, called Whetettes, made with whole wheat, no preservatives, etc...

SUMMER - WOW! 31 weeks already... Heck, I can't believe that tomorrow I will officially be completely out of my first trimester. I feel like it too... I'm not near as tired anymore... THANK GOODNESS!

Question... For all the 2nd & 3rd time mommies... I was induced two weeks early with Allison, so I still don't know how it feels to go into labor. Okay, so I went through labor, but it didn't start spontaneously at home. How do I know when it's the real thing??? Heck, I never even had any Braxton Hicks contractions...

Lauren, I totally know what you mean about the hunger

I feel pretty sick but hungry at the same time, weird. I only eat carbs at night and that has worked so far but sometimes I have carb cravings so bad I could spit. I am starving but nothing sounds good and one I eat I feel worse.

Yesterday morning (all day) queasiness and fatigue hit big time, must be the 6 week mark. I didn't eat very much for dinner but I felt totally full for hours!

I agree with everyone's advice - eat what you need to get through this and don't worry about gaining right now. If you add carbs you might gain some water weight but that will go away and will probably only be a pound or two

I find with all of my pregnancies I tended to gain a lot in the first trimester, and although I am hoping this pregnancy will be an exeption who knows?

Let us know how it is going!

Abby: I think I have gained all my weight in the second trimester. I wish my doctor understood that everyone is different. They gave me such a hassle these last few months about rapid weight gain after I had lost some in the 1st trimester. It was like, if I lose then I am doing some thing wrong and if I gain too much then I am doing something wrong and all the while I felt like I was doing pretty good. Now it appears that I am losing a few pounds again without doing anything different. I'm sure I'll get lectured next week at my appt. I am definitely switching doctors if I have another child. This practice seems to only focus on negative things....you know like gaining 8 lbs in one month was the focus, not the fact that the ultrasound showed a healthy baby and all my blood tests came back normal. That info was like an afterthought to them.

Jen - I went into labor at home and could tell. I got slight cramps at regular intervals, and started tracking them. They were 'regular' intervals, which clued me in, and when I called the dr. and told him, he agreed. It wasn't some immediate painful experience or anything, ya know!

Holy Moly!

Ya'll remember how I mentioned over the weekend that my neighbor across the street is 12 weeks along? Another friend of mine who got married just after us announced that she is 5 weeks along! Just a week behind me! Yay!

Morning ladies!!!
Hope everyone had a good weekend!!!

I just got back from the doc...Got my flu shot and did the Triple Screen test. She said I should get my results back within a week. Crossing fingers on good results!! I am kinda nervous as I hear all about these false positives....my nurse said that she has never had a false positive from the lab they use--who knows---that makes me more nervous bc if it is positive than maybe it really is!!! . She really wanted me to have it mainly bc if there were some neural tube defect, she wanted to have a specialist there for delivery...she said I'll be in a birthing room, not a surgical room and they need to be prepared as best possible.

We bought a baby doll yesterday...Trying to get my 2 dogs used to us carrying around something they can't have!! Glad we are starting early My boxer just wants to lick it to death and my english bulldog/boxer mix wants to sniff and slobber all over it. And they both want to be in my lap with the baby doll......

Good morning all.

I got some good rest this weekend, helped to get my chest cold moving a little more. I sound terrible, voice is really hoarse from coughing, but I am feeling a lot better. Thanks for all the suggestions last week.

I noticed I am starting to be more tired again. Not as bad as the first trimester, but starting to be tired, and achy. What about those of you who are starting or in the 3rd trimester? Are you experiencing the same? Any pointers to try and keep feeling good.

I have been taking lots of warm baths at night to help my soar feet, low back and legs. that seems to help some, at least so I can sleep better, but I would love to hear what the rest of you are experiencing who are in the home stretch?

My exercise has really dwindled, I think that is part of it, but I just don't have the energy to work out like I once did. Right now, walks are about all I can handle and even those are few and getting fewer.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

I definitely noticed this, too! I am exhausted all the time now. I just try and get a good nights sleep (which is impossible because i wake up to pee every 1.5 hours) and take it easy whenever possible. I still work full time which is getting harder and harder every day. Sounds like you are doing your best with the warm baths, etc. I have completely stopped exercising. I just don't have it in me anymore. We're in the home stretch now...all we can do is pamper ourselves as much as possible in these last few weeks.

Ok some details......

Saturday morning, DH made a sarcastic comment about my driving which led to a knock-down drag out fight!! I drove off in a huff, and he retired to bed and sulked under the duvet!! We did talk it through, but I just thought he had a major cheek talking about my driving when he can be Mr Road-Rage himself! He had the nerve to say that my driving made him nervous!

Saturday night I finally had to tell him how sick being close to him was making me feel because he tried to snuggle up on the sofa, and must have had a cigarette in the previous half hour because I thought I was going to throw up all over him! Obviously this went down really badly! I mean, he understands it's nothing personal, but it's still kinda hard when your wife tells you that she can't stand you within two feet of her without wanting to throw up?! He said he would give up smoking, but he made it sound like such a martyr thing, that it led to another blow-up!

And finally, we're not doing well in the 'physical' department if you know what I mean. Partly because of the enhanced sense of smell, and partly because everything seems to hurt. My boobs hurt pretty much all the time, but if I get even remotely turned on, they swell even more and hurt even more! Makes foreplay a bit of a non-event, and I just kinda feel like not bothering with the whole thing. So he feels rejected, I feel lonely, there's no real solution unless he packs in smoking (which I really don't think he wants to do) so hence it being a miracle that he survived the weekend!

Looper - love the dolls idea, and good luck with the TT results.

Glad you are feeling better Misbadu Sylv - how are ya?!

PFGal - basically eat what your body is telling you. You know the signs of addiction out of control, so you can haul yourself back in before it all goes bad, but at the moment your body is probably working at it's most efficient and what it is demanding from you is what it needs. JMHO Glad you have some RL pg buddies to spend time with!

Jefinner - you will KNOW when you are in labour. First time around, I timed the contractions and when they were coming five mins apart I knew it was for real.

Second time around, the pain was enough to wake me up and I went to the bathroom. That's when I lost my plug, and it basically felt like my insides were trying to force their way out of my body (TMI!!!! ) It actually wasn't that painful, but it definitely let me know in no uncertain terms that THIS WAS IT!!! Mind you, that labour only lasted 1 hour and 40 mins, so it might well be that it was that intense because it was that short!

Sjoy - don't let them get to you. You know what you are doing, and it sounds to me like you are doing well. Don't let them mess with your experience.

Hello to everyone else - sorry if I haven't name-checked you all, and will check in later

God Bless
Sheree

(((Sheree))) Hugs! I had so many days like that with my dh. It seems like my whole 2nd trimester was like that. As soon as I started showing it was like, "sex?" what is that...you want to put that where? Uh, I don't think so. Between the crabiness, soreness and just general yuckiness you so don't feel desirable. Key is to talk about it. That really helped us.
As far as the smoking thing goes i can totally sympathize. I can't stand the smell of it at all and it really turns me off big time. I don't know how to tell him that nicely, I wish he would just quit already. Its for their own good.

OH SHERREE!!! I'm so sorry. Lemme tell ya... Sometimes men say things, and they don't mean to be hurtful, but they are. ESPECIALLY when we have these uncontrollable hormones raging through our bodies. Luckily, things have gone really well for me and Hank lately. At first though... YIKES! I think I almost left him a couple of times. Of course, I don't think he would've let me. LOL! (We may have our fair share of arguments, but I know my boy loves me, and I sure do love him!)

About labor, I think I noticed a change in the intensity of the contractions, they got stronger and painful. I had been having Braxton Hicks all the time and they got stronger and stronger

My contractions never got regular, though, so don't necessarily wait until they are if you really think you are in labor. If I would have waited for regular contractions I never would have made it to the hospital!

I finally told my mom, emailed her a really cute poem I found from the baby, and she was actually really excited.

Aside from family, less than 10 people know about this pregnancy, and I kind of think it is fun to have a secret for now!

Good to know I am not alone here. I can see why so many women say they feel like the 3rd tirmester is so long and drawn out.

Hi everyone- I was just reading and catching up. Busy Monday huh?

Just wanted to let you all now the HPT Sat was negative. TOM is due tomorrow so I will wait and see what happens. Still having pretty strange things going on. I hope it doesn't come at all but if it does it's no big deal. That just means I get to have a few drinks this weekend right?

As for cervical positions- anyone know what it means when the cervix is high up, completely closed and spongy feeling? Start of TOM maybe or sign of PG? Not having regular symptons of TOM like usual.

Later,
Tracy
