Morning Ladies!! Just popping in before I head to work.

I was just looking at our due dates and noticed that SYLV is due only 1 month from today! How are you feeling SYLV? Excited? Nervous? Just think, in 4 short weeks you'll be holding your sweet baby in your arms. I can't wait to see pics. Lucky you.

Hope everyone has a great day, I'll check in tonight after work.

This morning is SO much better! I waering the seabands and I think they are helping. I also went to bed early so thats good too.

I'm a bit concerned that I've gained almost 5 pounds already and I'm only in week 7. I suspect that I may need to fight a rebound weight gain. My nutritionist says that 2-3 pounds are water from adding carbs but I'm still concerned. Maybe I just need to obsessivly worry about something...I dunno.

Anyhoo - have a good day all!

Morning! Okay Sara...are those absent minded preggo vibes kicking in already....haha...it's Wednesday, the 1st! Had to give you a hard time!

Question for those with maternity clothes experience. Do you find that clothes from Motherhood and Old Navy maternity run small or big?? I normally wear a medium, but wonder if I should get larges just to ensure that I can wear them the whole pregnancy? Of course if I go in the store and try them on I'd know, but I was planning to get several items on E-Bay. Any hints you have are appreciated!

How many carbs have you added to your diet since becoming pregnant? I'm probably not taking in more than 50 or 60 per day, and that's because of the yogurt, OJ, or milk that I have 2 servings of. Before getting pregnant I didn't have more than 30 per day most of the time. Just curious!

Stacy, I'm both excited AND nervous! And in just 2 weeks, I'll be 37 weeks and ripe to deliver at any time. My midwife just gave me the list of things to prepare for the birthing center. I honestly can't believe it's almost time. Maybe I've been lucky with my pregnancy, but ladies trust me, it goes by fast!

I notice many of you ladies are braver than me and going the natural birth route with centers, etc... Anyone a chicken like me and rolling to the hospital for an epidural?? LOL!

PFGal- I think I was pretty spacey to begin with.... Sorry about the dates all .

I am averaging about 110 carbs a day. I want to be under 100. I think I had some "hey I'm pregnant! I can eat that!" thoughts going on. My calories are 1700 - 1800. Per fitday I'm 100% or better with all of my nutrients except vitamin D and K - always had a hard time getting enough of those. The milk and yougurt add a bunch of carbs and this past week the gingersnaps to settle my stomach have not helped.... I tried the sea bands this morning and it was a lot better, so keeping fingers crossed.

What do you all think about diet sodas? Gingerale helps me a ton but I dont want to drink the regular kind.

Just tell me if I'm being neurotic. This is my second pregnancy - had a miscarriage before, but there was no one to ask all of these silly questions so I just did the best I could. Now I'm thinking "WooHoo! Lots of bright women who know tons of stuff!

Oh yeah....give me the epidural! I personally just feel better being at a hospital just in case anything would happen to go wrong. I totally respect that this is a personal choice, though, and don't judge anyone else's decision to do something different. I am such a sissy...I know I'll be begging for that epidural!

As far as maternity clothes go, I found that Old Navy runs just about right and motherhood runs sorta big. If you are going to buy motherhood clothes I definitely recommend going to the store and trying them on because they will give you those tummy pillows to put on so you can see if stuff will fit you in later months.

My father in law just bought me an outfit from Pea in the Pod to wear to my baby shower. It is so lovely but it cost $400. Cha-Ching. I couldn't believe how expensive their clothes are but man is it awesome.

Some more advice: don't buy any expensive shoes early on in your pregnancy. Some gorgeous boots I bought this summer to wear, well, now, do not fit me anymore! I hope they will once this baby weight comes off.

Sylv: So excited for you! When i think that i am only 9 weeks away I get so anxious to meet my little girl!!

Sarajewel: don't freak out about the weight! I agonized over that at first but you do eventually get over it somewhat! Try and enjoy yourself!

Sara: you are allowed to be a little neurotic...you're pregnant! Really, though, you are doing great! I was so freaked out at first about diet this and diet that and carb this and carb that but you know what, as long as you are happy and you're getting a balanced diet and taking your vitamins then everything will be just fine. The most important thing is that you not get yourself all stressed out over it. You are going to gain weight and it sounds like you are already committed to doing it in a healthy way so you are so far ahead! I mean, I have been eating pretty controlled my whole pregnancy and I drink TONS of water and I still gained 34 lbs already with 2 months to go! I figure I am doing the best I can and my body is gaining what it needs to to bring this baby into the world. It has taken me a while to come to this conclusion and I do still hate being weighed at the doctor but at some point I just resigned myself to losing complete control of my body to this baby!

Sara,
In the beginning I had morning sickness sooooooo bad. I did not even worry what I was eating. I just tried to keep from throwing up. I pretty much lived on saltine crackers and Gatorade sometimes some dry toast. For whatever reason that was all I could handle.
My advise to you is until you get past the morning sickness do not stress too much about eating high carb things. When you do start to feel better though try to get back on track. All in all eating at maintaince levels will help to keep you from rebounding too much weight. Just don't stress over whatever you do gain. Most important thing is to just be happy and positive for your baby.

Natural Childbirth ~

I mentioned yesterday that I am going for the water birth method...what is everyone else's plan?

I know Lauren, and Summer are going for the traditional w/epidural...just curious what kind of plans we all have.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi everybody!

About carb intake, I know I gained at least 2-3 pounds of permanent water weight when I started adding in carbs at dinnertime. But so far I am doing ok, at 126, and I hope to not top 130 in the next few weeks.

So do any of you check for ketones? When I had gestational diabetes I had to, and even eating 130 carbs per day I had ketones. I am not counting carbs at dinnertime now nor am I checking ketones.

I just bought a new pair of Old Navy size 6 jeans the night before I found out I was pregnant, and they are already too tight around the waist. Guess I will return them.

I have never had any Old Navy maternity clothes but Motherhood always fit me until the last few months when everything got too big. Hopefully I won't get that big this time! I think it depends if you gain weight everywhere or just your belly.

By the way, I am confused about my due date. Fertilityfriend says it is May 30th, but my doctor's wheel said June 02, so I guess I should use the doctor's?

I tried all sorts of online wheels and they ALL said either 5/29 or 5/30. My LMP date was 8/21 but I didn't ovulate until day 17 of the cycle so it is confusing.

Have a great day everyone!

Abby

I don't drink a ton of diet sodas, but when I have a soda I'm opting for diet with no caffiene. I love the diet Barq's root beer!

Abbymommy - how exciting - we're on the same time frame!! The first day of my last period was August 23rd and I'm due on May 30th (or so the doctor says). I'm sure she based that on a 28 day cycle, though, and I forgot to mention to her during our phonecon that I have a 30 day cycle. So she is probably close, but off by a day or 2! I'm 6 1/2 weeks now!

HI everyone-

quick question (since I am still crossing fingers that I am PG) I plan to test on Sat which is 3 days early- why did I see CM yesterday? Clear and eggwhite appearance? Just a little. Doesn't that mean ovulation usually? I got a (+) OPK when we ttc Sun Sept 21 and also the 22nd. Also- my face started breaking out this week. Not something that normally happens.
Acne common in the first few weeks?

Thanks,
Tracy

PfGal- I am not doing natural childbirth. I want the epidural also. Being this is my first child I want to not feel anything. lol

http://www.lilliebeas.com/phpBB2/index.php

I didnt know if you ladies took a look at that website or not. I would hate to be the only pregnant woman over there talking to myself.

I was doing anywhere from 25-50 carbs a day prior to becoming pregnant and now I know i range from 110-150. But seems my body is handling it ok. I miss doing low carb though. I need to ask my doc if I can continue doing that. And take supplements for anything I may be lacking.

I go to my next doc appointment next Wednesday and am a little nervous to get on the scales. But I think that is going to an everlasting fear this entire pregnancy.

Take Care...

SARA - Never worry about asking too many questions... I was a basketcase when pregnant with Allison. I worried about everything... But ask anything.

About Diet GingerAle... I think it's okay in moderation.

TRACY and STACY - HOLA!

LAUREN - I dunno about maternity clothes. Last time around, my grandma made me a bunch of cute stuff, and a lot of the other stuff came from Target. (I love that store!) I'm a little nervous from buying from Old Navy, because they're only online (here anyway)...

MISBADU - I'm going the natural route... I think that makes you, me and Sylv. I went the conventional route with Allison, and nothing went wrong... I just want more control. (And I wanna eat and drink... LOL!)

ABBY - BabyCenter had mine at 4/12, but my midwife has me at 4/13. I wouldn't worry about it though. Even if we know exact dates on everything, your baby will come when their ready.

SUMMER - I walked in Pea in the Pod, and saw a pair of jeans that were $100... Walked right out! I think I'm just cheap though!

Just checking in...........

I want an epidural too!!! No natural birth for me- I am a WIMP!

WELCOME ABBY!! I don't check for ketones anymore. I just eat the best I can.... (as I just ate a donut )....somedays are much better than others
As for Old Navy goes...I have ordered some jeans and yoga pants from them and I thought they ran a little big--but that is good bc maybe I won't grow out of them. I love my jeans I ordered--very comfy!!! I also bought some pants from Target I really like.

SARA: I drink sodas occasionally--always sugar free and mostly caffeine free. I can really feel the caffeine now that I am pregnant--it makes me really thirsty and jittery. Never did before.

MISBADU: I think the water birth sounds neat--I have seen it on the baby story shows---but again I want drugs

Morning everyone I missed!!!!!!

Does it speed up at some point, because I already feel like I've been pregnant forever and it's only 16.5 weeks (notice I count the half?)

It's not that I *hate* being pregnant, it's just that I feel like everything's on hold while I gestate. I can't really do everything I want to do yet, I know I'm going to have to make all these adjustments that are impossible to imagine, yet I can't make them yet. I don't know if that's making any sense or not. I'm beginning to think pregnancy should be around 5 months tops. LOL

PFGal: I think Old Navy runs a little to the large side, which I'm personally glad about--hopefully I'll be able to wear these various pants throughout the whole nine months. I started wearing them a week or so ago, because my regular clothes were getting too small, but they are really too loose now.

Oh well, rather loose than tight.

As for carbs, I'm probably around 60 most days, 75 on a high day, but that's only been for the past 2 weeks.

Before that, I was eating "whatever" because of morning sickness, bronchitis and acute asthma.

I also had gained about 17.5 pounds. Since getting back on the wagon, I lost quite a bit of water weight, my headaches went away and my heartburn is much better and gain is only around 9 pounds, which isn't bad for 16.5 weeks, all things considered.

(I haven't been losing steadily, just one big whoosh when I started eating lower carb again and been mostly holding in place.)

As for natural childbirth... I have a midwife who is attached to all female OB/GYN practice and a hospital. The hospital offers a lot of birthing center features like hubby beds and rooming in and water birthing tubs, so hopefully it will be the best of both worlds.

Hi everybody else!
