Tracy2 - Trying! Ok, let me know if I screwed this up or not It's my first time starting this thread. Right now I'm freaking out because I'll be 30 in 2 days. Not because I think it's "old" (it certainly ain't!), but because I can't believe I've been alive that long.... because there are so many things I want to do that it seems I'll never get to. This making sense to anyone? Anyway, the other thing I'm doing is really jumping back hard on the low carb wagon. My asthma/illness was an occasion to eat anything I felt like for a week and a half and I really need to get back in control. Anybody with me? Last edited by 3Diva : 09-23-2003 at 05:45 AM. |

Just found out...
I'm 3 weeks pregnant (approx.) and have been doing Atkins since February. I'm probably only 5 pounds from goal, but never bothered to start the maintenance phase. I just eat low-carb, while enjoying the occassional apple, etc... Do you guys follow the maintenance phase as outlined in the books? I need to go back and re-read so I can ensure I eat properly. Did your doctors give the 'okay' to eat this way?
I won't see my dr. until 10 weeks along, but have a call in to ask her about nutrition. |

Morning everyone!
Sinnrah: I read your post in last weeks thread and I just wanted to tell you to stick around. Don't stop posting...I'll bet I eat more carbs than you in a day, too. Diva: I know exactly how you are feeling. Sometimes I feel like there is no way I will ever get everything done that I want to. I guess the best thing to do is just try and enjoy the here and now. Welcome PF Gal and congratulations on your pregnancy. I never mentioned my diet to the doctor. I just *try* to follow maintenance as best as I can which is not so closely most of the time. I have the book "What to eat when you're expecting" and I use a lot of info from that. It is basically a lower carb diet with whole grains and fruits added in.

Thanks sjoy! I'll have to pick up a copy of that book.
I'm excited, this is pregnancy #2 and I have a little girl who just turned 4 on September 8th. I wasn't doing low-carb back then, though! ![]() |

By the way, is this a 2nd pregnancy for any of you guys? How soon did you start showing? I have a God awful feeling it's going to happen sooner than I'd like it to, haha!

Aww.....
Thanks for the Happy Birthdays
![]() I think I finally put a finger on things. It's not so much sadness at time "lost", but I think there are some things in my life have needed changing for a while, and between turning 30 and being pregnant, I feel this renewed sense of urgency to "seize the day." Oh, PFgal, I've added you to the list. Congrats ![]() |

This is my 3rd pregnancy, and I started showing at about 2.5 months. I had lost a lot of weight, though, so I think the fact that I had a smaller stomach made me show quicker.
I'm on maintenance. I eat fruit about 3 times a day (mainly blueberries, cantaloupe, and apples). I eat a lot of cheese, which is my big vice. I usually love salads and dark green veggies, but I find myself having to force myself to eat these right now. Hopefully it's just the pregnancy hormones making them unappealing. I eat almonds for a snack, and I still eat meat or eggs for every meal. I'm at the point my stomach is being pushed up into my lungs, and I can't sleep flat anymore. The heartburn and indigestion is becoming terrible. I never had it this bad with my other two. I'm playing around with my diet to see if anything I eat or don't eat in the evening makes it better or worse. I'm sure it looks like forever for those who are newly pregnant But it really will go by so fast. Good luck to everyone and have a great week!

Hi everyone,
I started showing at about 3 months, but I am *really* starting to look pregnant now, at 5 months. I look in the mirror and think, "Yikes!" To be honest, I haven't any idea what my carb count is. I know it's high. I just eat what I feel like, which the last few days has been broccoli. Before that it was spinach/bacon/egg. I try and stay away from the junk, and make sure I get my iron, calcium, and protein. -- Jenn |

First let me say Happy Birthday to Diva3.
![]() Laura- Thank you for your post. I just get discouraged sometimes w/ myself. When you think you have willpower and then fail it just brings me down. Sjoy- Thank you also for asking me to stick around. I feel invisible sometimes. LOL PfGal- I want to welcome you to the boards. I also wanted to tell you that I found out at four weeks pregnant and told everyone about me being pregnant. My SIL had the same reaction...it is too early to tell... But she and I dont get a long anyways..so I didnt really care what she thought. ![]() I am not showing at all and I am almost three months pregnant. I have a few friends that didnt show until they were 5 or 6 months. anyhoo..I just woke up..and have already had five peices of bacon and drinking my coffee.. DH will be home really late tonight...the joys of being military wife. And to think he is going to be trying to go for Officer soon... ![]() So I will really never see him.. okay well I will quit gabbing.. A big {HUGS} to everyone else. ![]()

PFGal-yea for me it was just such a surprise we were pregnant. I had been going through fertility issues and thought I couldnt get pregnant. And all the test came back w/ high progesterone levels and nothing was wrong w/ me. And then my Dh told me I was pregnant before I even knew I was. And when I found out I just had to tell someone. lol My parents have been waiting for this day for a very long time. And so have I. i wasnt ready in my twenties..and even when I reached thirty I always told myself I wouldnt have kids..then I realized that I was pushing it too close to my cutt off date. LOL I didnt want to have kids after 35..that was just a personal choice of mine. And w/ DH being in the military I really wanted to take advantage of the insurance..and we were both very ready to go to the next chapter of our lives.
So...we actively tried for three months..and low and behold..I got pregnant..lol I am really glad you are here w/ us all... Do you have an EDD yet? |

PFGal: We told a couple friends at 4 weeks, my parents at 5 weeks, work at 6 weeks and I believe the whole east coast knows now
It was early but we were excited !! It is definitly a personal decision Is anyone else feel like they are buying alot more groceries? I goto the store 2-3 times a week for fresh fruit (mainly grapes and melon) and other stuff.....and sometimes I buy things that look good at the time but then by the end of the week, I can't even think about eating them...SOOOO back to the store for something I feel like eating. My favorite foods now are : grapes, pickles, pickle juice, fresh cucumbers sliced in vinegar and peanut butter & sf jelly sandwiches on ww bread. I am talkative today--not much going on at work ![]() |

Oh...forgot to mention -
We only started trying in September, and ended up getting pregnant right away! I was totally shocked to see the test come up positive, because I'd assumed it would at least take a few months! Glad it happened fast, though!! My last pregnancy was a big OOPS so I'm looking forward to this one and it was fun to actually plan it! |

PF Gal- how exciting!! My DH and I just started trying. This is month #2 for us. I also had a big oooopps at 17! She is now 9 and the center of my universe!
I lurk here all the time. Getting lots of good advice and information. DH and I are having fun planning this one! We can't wait and are very excited. Congrats again. When do you go to the MD? Did you say you were 3 weeks PG? I thought you couldn't tell for sure until at least 4 weeks. I have a question for anyone that can help. I had my last cycle 09/07/ that lasted 5 days. Stopped 09/13. (my cycles are pretty regular) I bought a box of OPKs. I used the first four from 09/17 through 09/20 and they were always (-). Yesterday morning, I tried the fifth time and it was (+). So, we tried last night. This morning- just for the heck of it, I took another test and it was (-). Is this normal? Shouldn't it have still been (+) or is today my best chance for fertilization? These tests do predict 24-48 hours in advance. Thanks for any help. Tracy |

Some pregnancy tests (I used First Response Early Results) can detect a pregnancy as early as 4 days before you are supposed to get a period. I am supposed to have a period on Thursday, the 25th. I wanted to test just because I was totally anxious (even though I was having NO symptoms, haha) so I got a test on Saturday and did it. It was 5 days before my pd. was supposed to come, so I figured it would come out negative even if I was pregnant...but it was positive right away! I did another test yesterday just to be sure, and it was positive right away again!!! ![]() |
