Morning everyone! Hi Sylv & Jefinner!

Sylv, I am actually 28 weeks now! I can't believe it is going by so fast. You must be so excited...only 7 more weeks! Are you feeling very prepared? Any recommendations on stuff to get done early?

Feeling pretty good lately, except for waking up every 2 hours to either go potty or to switch sides. I guess its good practice for when the baby arrives.

sjoy, done. I AM getting pretty excited and can't wait to meet my daughter! It's starting to dawn on me that my life is about to be changed forever. Not to sound too "granola-like", but I think I need to start using some relaxation and meditation techniques so I don't totally freak out when the time comes, both for the actual birth and for the life change. Don't get me wrong, I've been looking forward to this for many, many years, but when it becomes a soon-to-be reality, that's very different from a far-off dream.

Anyway, if I have any advice, it's to get things in order as much as possible in preparation for the birth so that you can spend the last month or so getting yourself mentally and emotionally ready, not to mention to REST your mind and body as much as possible. But then again, my midwife keeps saying that giving birth is like running a marathon and requires endurance, so I guess you not only need to rest, but you also need to exercise and build your endurance! Pardon my babbling, I'm just thinking out loud.

Thanks for the advice Sylv! I know, if I think about how my life is going to change I start to freak out a little bit! I am trying to prepare as much as I can but it starts to get a little overwhelming. One step at a time I guess. At least the nursery is done! I just hope this baby really is a girl because she already has a full pink wardrobe!

Hi Everyone,
Some of you might remember me from last May! I was on here pretty frequently until school dismissed for the summer. My original due date was Oct. 23rd but at my last sonogram I was told I could go as early as Oct. 6th!
I had a busy summer and did a lot of work on the nursery early on...which is good! I was put on bedrest at 30 weeks and just got off last week! I wasn’t producing enough amniotic fluid and my level was very low. I was told to drink 1-1 1/2 gallons of water a day and to stay in bed! After 4 weeks of bedrest my level had rebounded into the safe range and I was given the ok to go back to work! I was soooo happy to get back among the living again! LOL
We are expecting a little girl and are going to name her Rebekah Marie! Rebekah was always a favorite of mine and was also DH’s grandmother’s name!
At my last sonogram they estimated that she weighs right at 6 pounds! I am having weekly sonograms to monitor my amniotic fluid level and bi-weekly OB appts.
I am feeling pretty well other than shortness of breath and carpal tunnel in my right wrist due to increased blood production and swelling of those vessels in my wrist. I am wearing a brace at night because that is when it really hurts. I am also dealing with those darn hemmaroids...what a pain in the $^(&!!!!
I am generally heading to bed to rest right after school each day to keep the swelling down in my lower legs. It has gotten pretty bad at times. I keep a milk crate under my desk at school to prop my feet up as much as possible. The school nurse is letting me come and lie down in her office during my lunch break and is also keeping an eye on my blood pressure for me. It was up for a couple of days last week right after I came back to work but has stayed down in the normal range since then.
Overall, I have felt good during my pregnancy. I wasn’t ever in pain while on bedrest....just had terminal boredom!
It sounds like you all are doing well! I see some familiar names here....sylv, diane, sjoy and misbadu. Good to see you all again!
Well, back to work!
Take care all and have a good week!
Cecilia

Cecilia ~ I am so glad everything is going well. I have asked about you a couple times. You just disappeared! But glad to see you back!

Well everyone, I know I have not wrote much lately because I have just been so exhausted. I'm finally getting my energy back. I heard from my OB last week. They said I passed my GTT, but I'm low in iron. That could be why I was so tired. I got a call from another doctor today and they confirmed that my West Nile bloodwork came back positive! So that also explains why I haven't been doing too well. They said I relapsed about 3 times. I have been feeling much better, so I shouldn't be seeing anymore signs of it. There is nothing they can do anyway.

Just wanted to say HI. Glad everyone is well!

Cecilia, you're BACK!!!!!! I'm so relieved to hear your pregnancy is going well (despite the bed rest orders) and that my hunch was correct that you had been away because school was out. I am also battling carpal tunnel and am seeing my GP next week about it, but luckily it is also only painful at night, no matter what position I'm in. I'd be in big trouble if it kept me from typing! By the way, we're pretty sure we'll be naming our daughter Rebecca! I'll update our stats with your info... tell me if I'm wrong but I'm guessing you're 35 weeks now?

Diane, sorry to hear about the West Nile! Yikes! Let us know how things go. I hope you bounce back quickly.

Hello everyone! Welcome back Cecilia, glad to hear the bed rest worked and that you are back to a more normal life again. I do not know what I would do if I got put on bed rest...I am single and my work has no short term disability, so that's a scary thought for me.

Jefinner, sorry to hear about the puking! Yuk. I was soooooo sick in the beginning, It was miserable! So I feel for you! This is going to sound strange, but in the beginning when I could not keep anything down, for some reason, plain french fries, were one of the only things I could keep down.

Sylv, I keep hearing the same thing from my midwife...exercise and meditation will help me be prepared for birth. I have a goal to get through my birth with minimal medical intervention so I want to do whatever I can to make that possible. I have to say both have been hard for me. My mind has been spinning with so much to think about that its very hard for me to meditate like I would prefer, and I am not exercising like I would like. I am walking from time to time, but I need to do more.

All in all I am doing well, just getting bigger. I am really starting to notice my stomach sticking out more and more now. Its making getting dressed for work difficult. I am trying my best not to spend $$$ on maternity clothes, but I am wearing the same clothes over and over....I will have to break down sooner or later and buy a few more things to get me through winter.

CECELIA!!!! So glad you checked in and that everything is going so well for you...aside from the hemorroids

Diane, West Nile?! That sounds scary! Do they think you got it from a mosquito? Glad to hear that you are feeling better, though.

Hey Sylv, great minds think alike! Sorry you are battling carpal tunnel too! I just bought a wrist brace at Walmart that has a metal plate that goes under your wrist. It has helped tremendously! I use it at school when I have to write for more than 5 minutes at a time. It doesn't take long for my index, middle and ring fingers to go totally numb!
Diane, It is good to be back.....what a bummer about your went nile virus coming back positive! We have had several cases confirmed in our county here in southeast kansas. You take care of yourself....what is the protocol for it? Antibiotics?
Here is a picture of our nursery:

I still need to make some yellow/cream pillow cases for the pillows on the twin bed and decide whether I really feel like making a crib skirt. LOL I'll probably get it done eventually.

Yes, I was bitten by a mosquito. I always worked out before pregnancy, then was too tired to during. So one night I decided to walk with a friend. Trying to stay away from DEET, I didn't spray myself. I got 3 bites and I knew right away they seemed different. So I know that is when it happened.
And there is no treatment for it. Luckily I feel better. I have it and there is nothing they can do. I'm just very thankful, because there are people that have gotten hit so hard with it or get the meningitis (sp?)

Hi everyone,

Do you mind if I join you? I'm 20 weeks pregnant with my first child (we're keeping it a surprise), and I'm due the end of January. I am pleased to say that at this point, thanks to maintenance phase, I have only gained about 8 lbs.

I was diagnosed with low amniotic fluid at my level II ultrasound, so I'm drinking tons of water and on restricted activity. Other than that, I feel great! Of course, I'm in the "honeymoon phase" right now.

Thanks,

Jenn in MN

I delivered

Hello,

Ryan James was born last Wednesday at 4:15am. He was 7 pounds 3 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long.

He decided to come down face up instead of face down and caused quite a commotion, but he is doing well.

Just wanted to let everyone know......

My name is TIna, I'm 28 and someone posted in my topic in the main lobby about this group. I'd really like to join you ladies. (But be warned, I work alot during the week, and sometimes can't update or do personals for a few days at a time. I hope that's not a problem.) I didn't know that I could ttc and do the low carb thing, I thought it had to be one or the other. Dh and I have been ttc for 3 years. I'm 'fine' according to the Dr's, and dh won't get his tests. I self diag. myself with PCOS, I have ALL the symptoms. My Dr has yet to return my calls, and my insurance won't pay for another 'full new patient' exam until next year. I'm in my thrid week of induction, I decided to do it one extra week, as I didn't have the book handy, and though I was taking in 15carbs a day, I was eating to much cheese. Now, I have the book, and want to do it completely right for this week then move onto OWL. My ketosis levevls are HIGH, almost darker then thedarkest 'sample' color on the ketone strips bottle. I've lost 14lbs so far and 3 inches, though that was Saturday. I weigh weekly and measure bi-weekly. My Husband, Vern, is also doing this with me and has lost almost 20 lbs already, he doesn't measure though, he says he's going by jeans sizes.
I was charting, but stppoed because I didn't know we could keep trying during the first 3 phases of low carb. I did take opk's and got a pos yesterday and Sunday. My chart says I ovulated either today or Monday. We'll see in a few weeks I guess.
I happen to have a HORRIBLE cold right now, so the 'happy dance' will have to wait. I think that's it for now. Have to finish getting ready for work. BYe and have a great day.

Congratulations Reese and Ryan! Can't wait to hear your birth story!!!

Welcome Osija, glad you could join us. Sounds like you are really motivated and disciplined. Congratulations on your weight loss!!

Ok, everyone, I am SICK of maternity clothes. I miss my cute fall clothes. Every year I love to put away my summer clothes and bring out my fall wardrobe, try everything on and decide what is new that I need to purchase. I saw a girl yesterday with the grey flannel a-line skirt that I bought last year at JCrew and couldn't wait to wear this year and it just got me so upset. Silly, yes, I know, but I can't help it. These days its full panel stretch jeans, black pants or sweats. Ugh. Although, in a few short months I'll be holding my baby girl in my arms. I can't wait to meet here.

Today I have another regular doc appt. I am going to tell her my concern about the Braxton-Hicks that I have been having. 5 out of 10 times I get a lower back ache when the Braxton contractions hit and that concerns me a little bit. Probably nothing but in the pregnancy books I have read it said to definitely mention it if you have the Braxton Hicks and lower back pain at the same time. Have any of you had this happen?

I promise I will get to responses later today but I just wanted to ask you all that are seriously still following maintenence, to please post a typical menu ... maybe for 2 days or so ... please? I'm falling off in a big way and I'm concerned. My weight gain is still okay for this stage but I still have it in the back of my mind that I'm going overboard and will end up where I was last time. I need to go shopping for food and I need some guideance. TIA!

Morning Ladies!!

Congratulations REESE!!!

HEIDI: I 2nd your request....I would love to see a menu of someone being "good"....I am having trouble and even though I am feeling much better--- I can't handle pork or chicken and don't feel like cooking! I am liking eggs again though---espcially hardboiled ones sliced with whole grain bread as a sandwich for breakfast.

Welcome JENN and TINA !!!

DIANE: Are we supposed to stay away from deet being PG? I worry about West Nile too as we have had some cases here in NC too.

FARMGIRL: Love your nursery--very cute.

We picked up our nursery furniture over the weekend and my husband put the crib up. Very cute!! We have the same one as Stacy. I am headed to Target at lunch to look for some maternity clothes I need some shirts and a couple pairs of pants.....my regular clothes just aren't working well anymore.

Have a good day!!!

Sorry, I've been so quiet.

I've been suffering from a major asthma attack for the past week after almost a decade of no medications and no symptoms.

I spent Sunday in the emergency room, and the first drug the ER doc gave me (after checking with my midwife), actually gave me blurred vision and made my chest seize up (Combivent)

Now I am taking Advair, which seems to be working, but it looks like I have a chest cold on top of it.

I haven't been able to sleep for more than a few hours for almost a week. And I keep getting these coughing fits that are so harsh, I wind up throwing up (See, the Gods are punishing me for avoiding morning sickness in the first trimester...)

Anyone else deal with asthma during pregnancy? What recommendations did you receive?

Hi Laura!

Sorry, Diva, no asthma on my end but man is this stress eating me up.

So, I will confess my latest issue to you all. My younger sister (24yo) has been smoking crack for 2 years. We finally got her to admit herself to a detox place this last Friday and today we find out she walked out a day ago. We have no idea where she is but I am so terrified that she will be eaten alive on the streets of Chicago. Then, today, I get a call from her that she wants her car. My parents bought her a Jeep Cherokee when she turned 21 and when she went into rehab my hubby and I went and basically "stole" it out of the parking lot so that she couldn't just drive away in it if she decided to walk out of detox. Anyway, I am so worried that her and some of her drug friends are going to show up looking for the car and the keys at my place and I just don't know what she is capable of right now. Luckily we have a door man and I just called to tell him that if she shows up there to not let her in and to call police if he has to. Her car is hidden a few streets away, parked on the street downtown so hopefully they won't find it. I have the only set of keys so they can't drive it away. I am so upset but trying to remain calm so that I don't upset the baby. I'm sure stress can do horrible things. Not looking for sympathy but I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening!

Congratulations Reese and Welcome Ryan James! I can't wait to hear your birth story. I'm particularly interested in hearing about how his presentation complicated your delivery, as mine is also facing up at this time. I was told I could possibly get her to flip over by bending over on all fours, which I've been doing for the past week to no avail.

3Diva, sorry to hear about your asthma! I only have it occasionally (with a cold or bad allergies) and haven't had any attacks so far during my pregnancy (knock on wood). I hope you get some relief soon.

Sjoy, I hear you about the clothes! Tops won't be such a problem for the fall but like you, all I have for bottoms are maternity jeans and stretch black pants. I also have a couple of really outdated looking maternity dresses for colder weather, ONE of which isn't too bad. And then there's the shoes issue... I've been wearing flip flops or stretched out sandals all summer, and nothing else fits so I'll have to go get myself a larger cheap pair.

Cecilia, your nursery is beautiful! Ours isn't quite done yet. We have to get crackin'!

Welcome Tina and Jenn!

I ladies!! I just wanted to pop in and say hello! I don't have internet access at work this week so I can only check in from home. Unfortunately when I get home the last thing I feel like doing is sitting in front of a computer. Next week I should be back in full chat mode.

Welcome to the new ladies! Glad you joined us.

SUMMER: I'm so sorry about your sister, that must be very stressful for you and your family. I wish I knew what to say. *hugs*

HEIDI: I'm sorry I have no low carb advice. I'm completely off the wagon. My only saving grace is that I walk daily and on Saturday will be starting a prenatal water a
