Nope... I don't think anyone will mind...
So, how was everyone's weekend? As for my weekend... It was pretty good. Got the house spotless just in time for the future in-laws! (WHEW!) Then we all went to eat Thai by where I work. (I work by all sorts of wonderful looking restaurants.) It was one that was rated pretty high by Zagats and it got some great reviews from our local papers and stuff... Chow Thai. Wow, that was good stuff. Oh, and afterward... UGH! I wiped something from my eye, forgetting that I'd touched some of the hot pepper seasoning stuff... GREAT MOTHER OF PIE THAT HURT!!!! It was 5 times worse than jalapeno eye burn. The kids were looking at me, telling me that my mascara is all down my face. I didn't care. I just wanted my eye to stop melting. Hank's mom had some drops that helped a lot. THANK GOODNESS!!!! I think Hank's finally not so panicked about this whole baby thing. We're still poor, but I think a little of my faith has rubbed off on him! Still haven't told anyone, and we probably won't for a little while. There's just one problem. I have a wedding to go to this weekend, and it's my birthday. I'm just wondering how I go about telling people that I'm not drinking. (I almost always drink on special occasions, so this would be very out of character for me.) HMMMM! Gotta think of something. Oh, does anyone have an opinion on using a midwife? We've been thinking about it. I'm just scared of not having an epidural. Of course, with Allison, I laid on my side too much during labor, so it all went to my right leg. ROFL! Before then, it was a godsend. Well, girls... Check in! I'll talk to you later

Morning Jefinner and Welcome and Congratulations to both you and Sinnrah! I was so busy at work last week I didn't really have too much time to chat.
Stacey: i have a doppler, too, and I love it! Whenever I start to worry that I might be doing something wrong or that she is not moving around I always pull out the doppler and listen to her heartbeat. It is too cool. Mine is $25/month on a month to month contract. I think it is totally worth it. I got mine at www.heartones.com Sinnrah: I didn't really gain anything in the first trimester but I have certainly made up for it by now. I have gained 22 lbs and I am now 25 weeks. Lately it seems like no matter what I eat (and I have been making good food choices lately) that I pack on the pounds. I am really scared to get weighed this week. Last time I went to the doctor they told me I was on my way to gain about 40 lbs total. I guess it could be worse. My mom told me she gained between 60 and 70 pounds with each of us no matter what she ate. I just feel huge lately. When my DH and I go out to dinner on Saturday nights I get so depressed to see all the girls my age out in their cute summer clothes and I just feel like a big fat whale! I really, really, really hate getting lectured by my doctor, too, because no matter what they say you know they think you are loading up on junk food.

Jen,
You could tell people you are taking antibiotics..and you cant drink.. I am not feeling so bad about the weight gain anymore. Just really tried to explain to everyone I want it to be gradual and not an overnight thing. But one step at a time they are still getting used to me being pregnant. LOL How far along do you have to be to find out the sex of the baby? |

Morning ladies!!!!
Well the weekend was a good time. Spent it with some friends of ours. Sat, did some shopping, went to breakfast with Michael then went to get my hair cut while he finished his last coat of putty on the drywall. He's been fixing the shower for like a year L* I had to get out of the house, my asthma was acting up from the dust in the air from his sanding. So I leave to go get my haircut and all of a sudden I'm in the car and I can't breathe, I start to panic. I pull out my rescue inhaler, take a couple puffs then relax. I'm ok for a little while til the meds coarse through my body and make me start to shake. I've been put on a new "preventive" med called Advair (it's also an inhaler) which really helps alleviate my rescue inhaler. Where as I used to use my rescue inhaler a couple times a day, now it's down to a couple times a month! I'm not used to the medicine in it anymore and it made me start to shake, and of course I end up panicking again. I kept thinking I can't breathe, what if the baby can't breathe, what am I going to do when I'm 8 or 9 months pregnant and can't breathe, am I going to feel like this when I'm in labor, am I going to panic, am I going to be able to breathe?????? I totally freaked out. I got to the mall, sat in the car and called my mom. She talked me through it, the queen of anxiety attacks. I've never felt so afraid in my life (Well except for the plane ride home a couple weeks ago, that scared the **************** out of me). I guess I need to get with my OBGYN and discuss what happened to me and what my life will be like with my asthma being 9 months pregnant. Scarey. Well anyway, got my haircut, yay!!!!! It's so cute, I cut bangs back into my hair and got the wispy flip look. It's a little shorter than shoulder length now. Nice and cool for the hottest part of the summer down here in Texas. I also got a manicure and pedicure. Boy what a relaxing time that was. Great way to pamper yourself. We went to eat dinner at the Old San Francisco Steakhouse. That was a good time, pretty good food, LOTS of cheese. OMG they sat this friggin huge block of swiss cheese down at our table. I'm surprised there was any left!!! Baby likes cheese! *L* I've become addicted to cheese. Well I am from Wisconsin, but I've never had an addiction to cheese like I have since I've been pregnant. Can't get enough! Anyway, good food for the most part, I had rosemary shrimp and a steak. The steak was awesome and melted in your mouth. But the shrimp was yucky. It was served on a Christmas tree limb!! (Ok so it was a sprig of Rosemary, but OMG it tasted like doodoo!) It was a good weekend all in all. *L* Lots of laughs and good times. *yawn* Now I need a weekend to recouperate from my weekend. |

Good Morning ladies!
Welcome Jennifer....I think I missed welcoming you last week! and Congratulations!!!! My weekend was good. I got lots of sleep which was wonderful....but can always use more I am amazed at how much one person can sleep when pregnant....and I think my husband is too!!My nausea has improved alot--thank goodness. I am still not doing low carb like I was hoping. Meats just aren't too appetizing right now. Maybe that will get better. I am thinking about getting one of those dopplers too. That sounds cool. Have a good week!! Laura 8 weeks 1 day EDD 3-28-04 |

Welcome Sinnrah and Jenn! Sinnrah, would you mind changing me to 29 weeks please?
Well my weight gain is starting to scare me. I've gained 30 lbs so far, even though it all seems to be in my tummy. Does this mean I'll be giving birth to a giant??? My DBF and his brothers are all large guys... I'm hoping our little girl won't be too huge! Had a surprise shower on Saturday. It was for me as well as an old friend who is due a week after me, and also for a 3rd friend's b-day. Lots of fun! I suspect I'll have another one because this was just a limited group of old friends, not my family. Going to our first prenatal class tomorrow. Can't wait! Kitara, I hope your asthma stays under control and you won't need to worry about scary episodes like that anymore. Yikes! Jenn, I'm using a midwife and she's wonderful! I've read nothing but great stuff about the advantages of having one. I'll be giving birth at a birthing center near where I live and it's set up as a very cozy, non-clinical environment. That in itself can help to reduce stress, thereby reducing pain and the need for meds. I'm also toying with the idea of hiring a massage therapist to help me through labor. Hope everyone has a great day! Sylv

Sinny - I'm eating salad! I'm eating salad! Na Na Na Boo Boo!
![]() ![]() j/k Ya knows I lubs ya! ![]() ![]() ![]() I understand what you mean about not wanting to gain a bunch of weight. I thought I was doing great with Allison... Only gained 4 pounds during the first 5 months... Then BAM... I was gaining like a mad woman during my last few months. Ended up gaining 57 pounds total. I AM NOT PROUD! Kitara - OMG! How scary! Just talk to your doctor... I know there are tons of asthmatic women who have beautiful, healthy babies all the time. ![]() Sylv - Thanks! I was so young when I had Allison that I didn't really know all of my options. I'm glad to be older and more informed now. This would've been really convenient if I still lived in Houston... I worked right next door to a birthing center. LOL! Oh, and I don't think having big babies is much different from having little ones... Unless, your body is just too small. Allison was 9lb 2 3/4oz, and I don't have anything resembling a horror story in regards to her birth. My Grandma always said her biggest baby was the easiest delivery, and she had 6 kids ranging from 5lbs to over 9lbs. Okay, well I'm off again! I'll check back later! ![]() |

Jen,
Shut up. I want more salad. I had to resort to corn pops....Which I like but wasnt in the mood for that...it just didnt set well w/ me.So my carb intake has been good nothing over 100...and no less that 50...Which it never stays at just 50. LOL I am not too concerned anymore. I am just going to keep doing what I have been doing and pray for a healthy baby. |

I'm so sorry Sinnrah!!!
I'm very concerned about my weight this time around. Of course, the most important thing is a healthy baby, but you girls know what I mean!I plan to be very active too. Lots of walking and swimming and stuff. |

Hello all,
Sinnrah, thanks for starting us off...I am actually 19 weeks if you would not mind bumping me up. ![]() Feeling better and better every week now. Though I have had some really intense abdominal pains that make me really scared. My midwife assures me this is normal and especially with a first pregnancy...wow I never realized how painful growing a baby can be!!! Its better than morning sickness though...I would rather faint from the pain than puke my guts out all day every day. I feel for those of you who are still in that phase! ![]() I seem to be gaining more now too....I am trying to watch what I eat, but it does not seem to matter much, the scale keeps creeping up up up.... ![]()

Hi everyone!!
Sinnrah ~ Can you please change me to 23 weeks? One more week of work. I'll make it...... We are finally going on vacation, leaving this Saturday. We are taking a road trip down to California. But this time I have a toddler, and a pregnant bladder. We'll see how "driving straight through" turns out. Jefinner, I would use the antibiotics line. That's a good one. That is how I blew my cover. It was my b-day and I wasn't drinking, and my SIL figured it out. |

Misbadu - All of those abdominal pains made me nervous when I was pregnant with my daughter too.
Diane - EEK! I would cringe at the thought of a roadtrip! ![]() ![]() LOL! Hank (DBF) told me that at the wedding, we could just say that he's drinking, and I'm driving. I dunno... The antibiotics line sounds like a good one... Just wondering with all of the nurses in my family, they'll ask which one? what for? etc... Still have to find a midwife, but everything seems fine so far. Talk to you girls later! |

Why do you need a midwife? What is the purpose of one? Just curious. I have a friend who had a midwife and I was completely clueless on why.
I finally got my salad in yesterday and ended up eating so much I gained three lbs. LOL But two of them were gone by the morning. I had like 2700 calories and 120 carbs. I told Jim that i can do that anymore. I was miserable. But I could get enough salad. My menu for the day is 1 piece of toast 1 small banana Lunch Salad Orange Dinner Pork Roast w/ Veggies WATER WATER WATER. lol well take care I will be back later. ![]() |

Sinnrah... A midwife performs the same functions as a physician as far as check ups and stuff (someone correct me if I happen to give any misinformation), but when the time comes to have the baby, you have it naturally in a home setting. (Actually, you can have a midwife come to your home to have the baby, and some are even in hospitals.)
I guess I'll just include a couple of links, because I'm absolutely terrible at trying to explain... http://www.midwifeinfo.com http://www.midwife.org Here's a place I'm thinking of... http://www.dallasmidwife.com HTH... |

Holy Crap!! Having it at home..Well I dont think that will happen. LOL
We have all of our stuff paid for by the military so we will be in the hospital I am sure of it. We found out that it will cost us like 35.00 to have the baby. Well, that is what we were told. LOL I need to get my butt up and go walk or something. ![]() |

Hi girls! WELCOME to the new mommies-to-be!
I'm in week 15. Please bump me up. ![]() Not too much going on with me. Gained another pound but I'm okay with that. I've been craving spicy food like you would not believe and this is so so so bad but I ate a whole bag of spicy cheetos. I tried one and just couldn't stop. Luckily the pound I gained was before this and this didn't add anymore. I have an ultrasound scheduled for next weekend so I'm super excited as we'll be finding out the sex. I can't wait! Gotta get ready for work. I'll be back soon ... |

Ok I knew this was going to happen. I am in complete panic mode right now. I dont want to gain a lot of weight. But for some reason I have already gained two lbs in 5 weeks. I am going to be a freaking blimp.
I have 7 weeks to go before I am even out of the first trimester..by that time I will be like a 14 lb gain. I dont get it..I am drinking my water, eating healthy, and still weight gain. I am very upset about this..and I feel like I am not going to be a good mom already because I am so freaking out about my eight. But crap, you cant diet while pregnant. And I am not overweight but still I am in panic mode. With no one here to talk me down. Okay I am going to cry and get into bed. ![]() |

Sinnrah- i feel exactly the same as you. I constantly worry about how much I am gaining. I am 8 weeks, 2 days today and have gained 7 pounds since I tested positive at 4 weeks
Although I haven't gained anything in over a week now : ) I know I can't worry about that now--I guess I am just mad, I didn't lose more before I got pregnant and I can't gain 50 pounds! and to top it off I sure am hungry these last few days!!! I am finally not so nauseous and boy, do i want to eat!! anyways, ((HUGS)) to you and I hope you (and I) feel better about all this soon..... I am very excited about what is growing inside me though!!! Take Care! Laura EDD 3-28-04 |
