Menopause and Atkin WOL

GoodMorning All,

Hey, can anyone out there shed some info or expiriences with being in menopause and doing the Atkins way of life. I'm so Frustrated I could scream.

I'm very active, I'm up at 5:00am every morning for a 3 mile walk/run, weight training 4 days a week and try to get 9 holes of golf in 3 days and week.

I lost 10 pounds on induction (I'm still in induction), I'm doing everything I should, I have increased my vegi's by 1 1/2 cups because I'm active and I don't want my body to think I'm in starvation.

I measure and weigh in, but my measurements shrink and grow, same with my weight. I'm in the 10 week and can't break 10 pounds.

Wendy,

Your story is awesome, thank you for sharing. It inspired me to keep going. I take nature hormones as well. My DH asked me to make an appointment with my doctor to have my thyroids tested. He thinks it's thyroid problems, because I take natural hormones and they help a great deal.

I'm beginning to think he may be right, because you continue to lose weight and keep it off.

I was in perimenopause about 7 years. I finally entered menopause this past year. On lowcarb my flashes lessened a lot and I'm happy that I have never taken any hormones at all. I still get flashes, but not as intense or as frequent. I do have a fan with a remote control set up so that I can get quick relief if necessary and carry one of those itty bitty fans if I'm out somewhere. I don't give a darn any more if someone sees me using my fan. It's my life and if I need to cool off, I'm gonna do it wherever necessary. I have noticed, though, that during the winter months my flashes are almost nonexistant now. It's the constant temp fluctuations in the summer in air conditioning that bring on the flashes I have now. I noticed that usually I'll get one a few minutes before the ac kicks on if it's really really hot out. Weird, huh? But I did notice a dramatic improvement on lowcarb.

If you'd like info about thyroid issues, do a search for nonstickpam107 and you will find a wealth of info! Good luck and hang in there. I was stalled for almost 10 weeks and in the past 3 weeks have dropped close to 8 lbs. DON"T give up! dooy

Yaylocarber, don't do hormones if you don't need to they are very expensive and I talk to ladies who never take them and do just fine. My hot flashes were unbearable. I'd carry a fan if I did'nt have to do the pills.

How is you weight loss. Is being in meopause making it hard to loss weight?

Dooy, thank you for the info, I 'll read and learn more about thyroids. I know nothing and I read on this board often, that its hard to find a doctor who know alott about thyroids, so it looks like I'' have to learn on my own.
