Women's Thread - Thermacare Rocks!
TOM has always been very painful for me and I had resigned myself to the fact that I would have to go home and drug myself up to the point where I zonked out for the day. Once while I was in the hospital for other reasons, TOM arrived. The nurses were so concered they called my doc and he ran all kinds of tests. He said I'm ok, gave me a stronger RX and told me that labor is going to be a breeze.
Anyway, TOM arrived today and I HAD to stay at work - I tried a thermacare pad and while I noticed that I was a little uncomfortabe it was NOTHING like my usual. I could think, focus and feel really good. They are totally worth the investment. I've tried heating pads before but nothing has worked this well. So, anyone whose TOM has gotten outta hand since beginning this WOE, I highly reccomend trying them.

Couldn't agree more! A few months ago, when TOM was literally knocking me down, I tried a thermacare patch. It was the only thing that allowed to walk upright!

I've never had much trouble with TOM, but I wear a ThermaCare patch on my ankle at night and it helps my arthritis.

Its a disposable heating pad that you open and somehow it warms uo and you wear it. Its good for 8 hours. The have them for low back pain, menstrual pain and something else. They didn have a menstrual one at the store so I had to get a back pain one and cut it down to size - I just tucked it in the front of my undies and it did its job. I think it was $6 for a box of 2. They were at the grocery store with the pain relief products.
I'm psyched - I have tried every medication, position, treatment - you name it - and NOTHING has ever worked this well. That said I'm still going to take my calcium suppliments, Vitamin B, Anaprox, Alieve 2x a day, etc leading up to TOM... |

Gosh, I can't picture putting something hot on your abdomen for TOM relief. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Heating pads encourage more blood to go to the affected area. Isn't that what's causing the pain in the first place? I can't argue with the relief you are feeling but it just goes against everything I know about heat / cold application. Glad it works for you. |
